P. Eileen Wingert, 80, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. to day at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Peters, pastor at Lawton (Iowa) Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Wingert was born Feb. 28, 1917, in Sioux City, the daughter of Martin and Olga (Bakke) Larson. She attended Sioux City schools.

She married John Johnson on Oct. 12, 1935, in Elk Point, S.D. He died Nov. 23, 1946. She then married Glann Wingert on Jan. 15, 1949. He died March 5, 1985. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Willing Workers Club of Concord Township. She enjoyed bingo and working puzzles.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Dan and Jean Johnson of Sioux City; four daughters and their husbands, Helen and John Cross of Moville, Iowa, Irene and Jim Willer of Lawton, Iowa, Doris and Gerald Uhl and Karen and Mark Wurscher, all of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Clarence Larson and Ruth of Sioux City; a sister-in-law, Jeannita Larson; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Merle Larson and a grandson.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.

Anna Mary Porter
Anna Mary Porter, 87, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at the Matney Westside Manor following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Susan Miller, chaplain at Hospice of Siouxland, officiating. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery at Holly Springs, Iowa.

Mrs. Porter was born Oct. 28, 1910, in Hornick, Iowa, the daughter of George H. and Mary O. (Wagg) Fuller.

She married Walter Porter on May 23, 1929, in Sioux City. He died June 1982, in Sioux City. She was employed with National Optical Company for several years.

She was a Stanley representative for many years.

Survivors include a son, Walter J. "Jim" of California; five daughters, Charlotte Britton and her husband Clifford of Sheldon, Iowa, Betty Wieck and her husband Ray and Beatrice Lilly, all of Sioux City, Mary Tinin and her husband Tom of Scott, Ark. and Evelyn Morgan and her husband Ron of Westminster, Colo.; a brother and his wife, Edward and Elsie Fuller of Bloomfield, N.M.; two sisters, Irene Sullivan of Sioux City and Maxine Asay of Oregon; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, two grandsons and a great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be Martin Young, Dennis Morgan, Rick and Roger Britton, Duane Hanner and Elton Baker.

Regene L. Osborne
Regene "Jean" L. Osborne, 49, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kevin Lee officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery near Hinton, Iowa. Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Osborne was born Nov. 24, 1948, in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Walter A. and Eunice G. (Gotto) Kounkel. She graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1967, from St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1970, from Briar Cliff College in 1982 with a bachlor of science degree in nursing and received her masters degree from the University of Nebraska in 1987.

She married Philip Osborne on May 29, 1971, near Hinton. The couple had lived in Cedar Rapids and Sheldon, Iowa, before returning to Sioux City. She was formerly employed as an instructor and presently as president of St.Luke's College of Nursing.

She was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church and secretary of the Iowa Board of Nursing Examiners.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Tonya Jean Osborne of Graettinger, Iowa and Keri Jean Osborne of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Terry and Jane Kounkel of Spirit Lake, Iowa; two sisters and their husbands, Shyril and James Schroeder of Hinton, Iowa and Judy and Paul Hegstrom of Lawton, Iowa; her stepmother, Ella Kounkel of Le Mars; a stepbrother and his wife, Allen and Linda Kurtzhals of Mesa, Ariz.; three stepsisters and their husbands, Arlene and Ron Miller of Olathe, Kan., Rose Ann and Fred Haring and Doris and Ed Beitelspacher, all of Le Mars; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Merrill and Harriet of Worthington, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Kenneth Osborne.

Pallbearers will be Kurt, Kraig and Scott Schroeder, Brandon and Ryan Hegstrom, Roger and Michael Hudson, Jeff Fredricksen, Jon and Matthew Kounkel.

A memorial fund will be established for a scholarship in her name at St. Luke's College of Nursing.

Lucile M. Christenson
Lucile M. Christenson, 81, of Sioux City died Thursday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Joseph E. Pleiss
Joseph E. "Joe" Pleiss, 78, of Sioux City died Thursday at his residence following a brief illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Church of the Nativity. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Paul C. Reidesel
Paul C. Reidesel, 70, of Sioux City died Thursday at his residence following a brief illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Convenant Church. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Arthur K. Beumler
Rev. Arthur K. Beumler Jr., 64, of Sioux City died Thursday.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Morningside Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m., at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home.

Ervin Hinkley
Ervin Hinkley, 83, of Sioux City died Friday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Morningside Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., at Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral home.

Janet E. Schiller
Janet E. Schiller, 86, of Sioux City died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at her residence following a brief illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. William Steward, the Rev. Sheryl Ashley and the Rev. J. Robert Burkhart officiating. Burial will be at noon Thursday in Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Dorseyville, Pa., under the direction of Brandt Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

Mrs. Schiller was born Aug. 29, 1911, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of Ezra and Anne (Davies) Morrell.

She married Scott G. Schiller on Dec. 18, 1930, in Pittsburgh. He died Aug. 25, 1989, in Indianola, Iowa. She owned and operated a gift shop in Ingomar, Pa. from 1945 to 1950. She was a kindergarten teachers aide from 1958 to 1965. She was then employed as a sales lady in the mens clothing department of the Joseph Horne Department Store in Pittsburgh from 1965 to 1985.

She lived with her daughter, Carol, in Bloomington, Ill. for two years, in Indianola, Iowa for five years and had been a resident of Sioux City since 1993.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Sioux City, the Ingomar United Methodist Church in Ingomar, Pa. and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Sorosis Club, P.E.O. Chapter IA and the Siouxland Senior Center. She was an avid bridge player.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Scott G. and Doris of Emporium, Pa.; three daughters, Carol Schiller-Israel and her husband Jerry of Sioux City, J. Arlene Norman of Indianapolis, Ind. and Claire Anne Theodore of Bloomington, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Memorials in her name may be directed to either the Siouxland Senior Center, Morningside College or the Crittenton Center.

Richard Nurre, 75, of Sioux City died Friday; Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Mary Elda Toothman, 97, of Sioux City died Thursday; Christy, Smith and Hockenberry Funeral Home.

WEST POINT, Neb. - William "Tony" Toelle, 79, of West Point died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at the St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point.
Services were held Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point. Burial was in St. Michaels Cemetery.

Frank Payne Jr.
SIBLEY, Iowa - Frank J. Payne Jr., 87, of Sibley died Thursday at the Sibley Care Center.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley. Burial will be in Holman Township Cemetery.

Verna Weik
SPENCER, Iowa - Verna Weik, 84, of Des Moines, formerly of Walker, Minn. and Spencer, died Thursday at the Fleur Heights Care Center in Des Moines.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Warner Chapel in Spencer. Burial will be in North Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m., at the funeral home.

Ralph W. Bush
MOVILLE, Iowa - Ralph William Bush, 88, of Sioux City, formerly of Moville, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at the Countryside Retirement Home in Sioux City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Moville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harold E. Werley officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family presnt from 4 to 6 p.m. at the McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville.

Mr. Bush was born Oct. 3, 1909, in Moville, the son of William F. and Emma (Anders) Bush. He attended country school and graduated from Moville High School. He attended Iowa State University for two years.

He married Naomi E. Pidgeon on June 30, 1950. The couple farmed on the family homestead.

He was a member of Moville United Methodist Church and was a well known exhibitor at the Woodbury County Fair.

Survivors include his wife; a son, William R. of Moville; a stepdaughter and her husband, Donna Marie and Larry Shaver of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Clifford and Darlene Bush of Bronson, Iowa; two sisters, Helen Higginbotham of Sioux City and Inez Gladwell of Fremont, Neb.; six grandsons, Josh, Jason and Jonathon Bush, Richard, Steven and Jon Callahan; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Edith J. Moore
WASHTA, Iowa - Edith J. Moore, 96, of Washta died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at the Correctionville (Iowa) Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, with a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m., at Washta United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Scherb officiating. Burial will be in Sunset View Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa.

Mrs. Moore was born March 10, 1901, near Jacksonville, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Sara (Wiley) Perry. She attended school in Draper, S.D. and Dakota City, Neb.

She married Charley Lee Moore on June 14, 1919, in Dakota City. He died Sept. 11, 1981. The couple lived in Lakin, Kan. for three years before returning to Dakota City. They moved to Washta in 1938.

Survivors include four sons, George and his wife Hazel of Cherokee, Richard and his wife Wilma of Lawton, Iowa, Stanley of Meberly, Mo. and Frank and his wife Patricia of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter and her husband, Mary and Larry Conley of Omaha, Neb.; 23 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, Charles, three grandchildren, five brothers and a sister.

Dena Jacobs
LE MARS, Iowa - Dena Jacobs, 84, of Le Mars died Thursday at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, Preston Township. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Geraldine Heinrich
LAWTON, Iowa - Geraldine Heinrich, 78, of Lawton died Thursday at Valley Lutheran Hospital in Mesa, Ariz.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville, Iowa. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery at Lawton. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville.

Ida M. Watson
BATTLE CREEK, Iowa - Ida M. Watson, 77, of Battle Creek died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at the Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek, with the Rev. Benjamin Ray officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m., at Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Battle Creek.

Mrs. Watson was born June 1, 1920, in Battle Creek, the daughter of Danna and Esther (Lake) Sumpter.

She married Charles Heldt in August 1936. The couple spent most of their years in Battle Creek. He died in 1973. She married Melvin Watson in May 1992. The couple made their home in Battle Creek.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and elder and taught Sunday School, the Presbyterian Women's Organization, where she was treasurer, the Mariners Club and the Royal Neighbors of America. She served as chairperson of the Lions Club dinners for many years.

Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Phyllis and her husband Duane "Bud" Clark of Ida Grove, Ruth and her husband William Hesse of Alta, Iowa, Eva and her husband Dallas Heckens of Stanton, Neb., Alice and her husband Carl Carlson of Fort Dodge, Iowa and Jo Heldt of Sioux City; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister and her husband, Edith and Vernon Benningsdorf of Delta, Colo.; two brothers, Chester Sumpter and Charles and his wife Lucille Sumpter, all of Fort Dodge; two stepchildren, Susan Campley of Iowa City and David Watson of Castle Rock, Colo.; three stepgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, David Heldt; a daughter, Joan Spotts; and a granddaughter, Deborah Spotts.
