Edna M. Ramspott
PENDER, Neb. - Edna M. Ramspott, 86, of Kingsley, Iowa, formerly of Pender, died Monday, June 29, 1998, at Kingsley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Pender, with the Rev. Michael Gruhn officiating. Burial will be in St. Mark's Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender.
Mrs. Ramspott was born June 24, 1912, in Cuming County in Nebraska, the daughter of Will and Frances (Gilster) Glissman.
She married Harry Ramspott on March 7, 1934, in Pender. The couple lived in the Pender area and moved east of Pender in 1939. They moved into Pender in 1980. Mr. Ramspott died in 1982.
She moved to Kingsley in 1994.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and the Mothers Club and reported the local news in the Pender Times. She enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Jeanette and Dean Richardson of York, Neb., and Marge and Elroy Roling of Kingsley; a son and his wife, Bill and Linda of Alden, Iowa; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Don and Dale Glissman, both of Pender, and Bill Glissman of Warren, Mich.; and a sister, Vida Hartz of Mount Vernon, Wash.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Robert J. Carrier
ONAWA, Iowa - Robert Jessie Carrier, 87, of Onawa died Tuesday, June 30, 1998, at his residence.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Richard Layman officiating. Burial will be in Onawa City Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.
Mr. Carrier was born July 23, 1910, in Judith Gap, Mont., the son of Jessie and Emma (Weidt) Carrier. He attended country school in the Onawa area.
He married Mildred McJunkins on April 25, 1943, in Onawa. The couple farmed near Onawa until retiring in the late 1970s and moved into Onawa. She died Dec. 8, 1993, in Onawa.
He was a member of United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sons and their wives, George and Debra of Onawa, Roger and Lucille of Macedonia, Iowa, and Harry and Sue of Largo, Fla.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Charles and Virginia and Walter and Delores, all of Onawa; and a special friend and his wife, Chris and Lisa Hupp.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Kratz and Hazel DeBauche.

Lowell H. Hinrichsen
UTE, Iowa - Lowell Herbert Hinrichsen, 68, of Ute died Monday, June 29, 1998, at his residence.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ute, with the Rev. Edgar Bode officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Ute.
Mr. Hinrichsen was born Aug. 29, 1929, in Washta, Iowa, the son of Herbert D. and Elsie (Neddermeyer) Hinrichsen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
He married Patricia A. Britton on March 3, 1941, in Ute. The couple farmed in the Ute and Mapleton, Iowa, area until retiring.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, his children, Carol and Dan of Lincoln, Neb., Linda of Ute, Pam and Dave of Denison, Iowa, and Paula and Brian of Cherokee, Iowa; three grandchildren, Amy, Dustin and Jami; his mother, of Sioux City; two brothers, Earl of Moorhead, Iowa, and Roger of Sioux City; and two sisters, Shirley of Litton, Iowa, and Joyce of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Lowell; his father; a brother, Orval; and a stepfather, Elmer Larson.

James J. Gill
ELK POINT, S.D. - James J. Gill, 57, of Denver, Colo., formerly of Elk Point, died May 16, 1998, in an automobile accident in Denver.
Memorial services will be at 5 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elk Point.
Mr. Gill was born Sept. 9, 1940, in Sioux City, the son of Vincent and Mary (Curran) Gill. He was raised in Elk Point and graduated from Elk Point High School in 1958 and South Dakota State College in 1963.
He moved to Moline, Ill., in 1962, where he was employed with John Deere. He was transferred to southern California and then back to Moline a few years later.
He moved with his family to Denver, where he became a partner in Central Operating, an oil drilling and operating company.
He was the founder and a board member of Boy's Hope Girl's Hope in Denver.
He married Judy Sonczalla of Denver, on May 2, 1998. She died in the automobile accident on May 16.
He enjoyed snow sking, boating and vintage cars.
Survivors include two daughters, Pam and her husband, Mike Silverburg, and Anne Gill, all of Denver; a son, Greg Gill of Denver; a brother, Larry Gill of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; a foster daughter, Angie Wallis of Chicago, Ill.; and many other foster children.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be directed to Boy's Hope Girl's Hope of Denver.

Mae A. Dahl
SIOUX RAPIDS, Iowa - Mae A. Dahl, 89, of Brush, Colo., formerly of Sioux Rapids, died Tuesday at Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan, Colo.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Lake Poinsett Cemetery, Lake Poinsett, S.D.

Carroll J. Sams
Carroll J. Sams, 83, of Sioux City died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Harry F. Walker officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 9 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

Thelma Hogue
Thelma (Pike) Hogue, 84, of Sioux City died Saturday at her daughter's residence in Jefferson, S.D., following a lenthy illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8:30 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Estelle A. Peterson
Estelle A. Peterson, 97, of South Sioux City died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at a South Sioux City nursing home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Becker-Hunt Funeral Home, with the Rev. W. Verdery Kerr, pastor of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be in Diamond Center Township Cemetery at Aurelia, Iowa. Visitation will be 1 to 8:30 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Miss Peterson was born Nov. 27, 1900, in Galva, Iowa, the daughter of Frank O. and Louise C. (Lindquist) Peterson. She graduated from Galva High School in 1918 and from Michael Reese Nursing College in Chicago, Ill., in 1926.
She was employed with the Department of the Interior on several Indian Reservations. She helped establish the Winnebago (Neb.) Indian Hospital, where she was the administrative head nurse until retiring in 1965.
Survivors include three nephews, James and his wife Betty Peterson of Greeley, Colo., Don and his wife Jeanette Peterson of Galva and Roger Peterson of Orange, Calif.; two nieces, JoAnn Thomas of Petosky, Mich. and Vicki and her husband David Montell of Corona, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Marie Peterson of Storm Lake, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Wayne Cooper of Los Alamitos, Calif.; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph W., Andrew and Orville; and three sisters, Mabel DePue, Esther DeGrote and Elsie Cooper.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Schademan, Russ and Mike Peterson, Dick Wallen, Dennis Bloch and Les Ptak.

Sr. Mary Joan of Christ the King, OCD
Sr. Mary Joan of Christ the King, O.C.D., 64, of Sioux City died Sunday, June 14, 1998, at the Carmelite Monastery.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Carmelite Monastery. The Very Rev. Bonaventur Sauer, O.C.D. will be the main celebrant. The Rev. Gerald Hartz will be the Homilist. The Rev. Richard Sitzmann, Monsignor Michael Sernett, the Rev. Patrick O'Kane, the Rev. Roger Linnan, the Rev. Tom Nash, the Rev. Daniel Greving and other priests present will concelebrate the mass.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Monastery. On Tuesdays, the Rosary will be said at 2 p.m by Blessed Sacrament Parish, St. Michael Parish and Sacred Heart Parish. At. 3 p.m. by the Cathedral Parish, St. Boniface Parish and St. Joseph Parish. Vespers will be sung at 5 p.m. The Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. by Immaculate Conception Parish, Nativity Parish, St. Francis Parish and St. Casimir Parish. All Rosaries will be said at the Monastery
Visitation will continue Wednesday. Vespers of the Dead will be sung at 4 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., the Carmelite Guild, The Secular Order of Carmelites and the Carmelite Nuns will sing the Office of Readings of the Dead. All Services will be held at the Carmelite Monastery.
Burial will be in the Carmelite Cemetery. Larkin Northside Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Sr. Mary Joan of Christ the Kings, O.C.D, the the former Marilyn Joyce Huml, was born on October 5, 1933, in Lake Geneva, Wis., the daughter of Lawrence L. and Marian A. (Funk) Huml. She was raised in Lake Geneva.
She entered The School Sisters of Notre Dame Convent on Sept. 3, 1951. She made her profession in 1954. She transfered to the Carmelite Monastery of Our Lady of the Incarnation in Sioux City on June 15, 1963.
She received her Carmel Habit on July 16, 1963 and she made her Solemn profession on July 17, 1964
Survivors include her mother, Marian A. Huml of Lake Geneva, Wis. one sister and her husband, Joanne and John McGovern of Riverside, Ill.; four brothers, Larry Huml of Waukeegan, Ill, Jack and his wife Jackie of Lake Geneva, Wis., Tom and his wife Teri of Bloomington, Minn. and Michael and his wife Joan of Lake Geneva, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
