Dorothy B. Hobbs
Dorothy B. Hobbs, 84, of Sioux City died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at her residence following a sudden illness.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Tom Trydeau officiating. Visitation will be 3 to 7:30 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 7:30 p.m., at Christy-Smith Berkemier Chapel.
Mrs. Hobbs was born July 11, 1915, in De Smet, S.D., the daughter of James and Marie (Motz) Moore. She moved with her family to Sioux City as a child. She attended Sioux City Public Schools.
She married William C. Hobbs on July 23, 1932, in Elk Point, S.D. The couple made their home in Sioux City, where she was a homemaker. Her husband died May 8, 1974. She enjoyed reading and fishing.
Survivors include three daughters, Lila and her husband, Gene Phillips of Indianapolis, Ind., Patricia Ortega of Sioux City and Leann Hobbs of Burkburnett, Texas; two sons, Joseph of Sioux City and William and his wife, Jane of La Plata, Md.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Helen Collingwood, Leona Buck and Betty and her husband, Robert Bowers, all of Sioux City and Delores and her husband, Ralph Smith of Liberal, Kan.; and four brothers, Gerald Moore of Sioux City, George Moore of Los Angeles, Kenneth Moore and his wife, Yvonne of Fort Collins, Colo., and Ronald Moore and his wife, Shirley of Redondo Beach, Calif.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert S. Moore.

Shirley E. Hanson
Shirley E. Hanson, 70, of Sioux City died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Fred Penner of Glendale Baptist Church officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Miriam Cemetery, Maryville, Mo. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hanson was born July 7, 1929, in Maryville, the daughter of Harlan and Mattie (McKee) Strong. Raised in Sioux City, she attended East Junior High and graduated from East High School in 1947.
She married Marion L. Hanson in 1950. The couple moved to Casper, Wyo. She returned to Sioux City in 1961. She was employed with St. Vincent's Hospital and then in the personnel office with the 185th Iowa Air National Guard.
She was a member of Glendale Baptist Church and enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Mark and Mari of Sioux City; two daughters and their husbands, Deb and Scott Argast of Garrett, Ind., and Cindy and Garry Schanke of Allen, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Janet Steinhoff of Hornick, Iowa; and six grandchildren, Tanner and Austinn Schanke, Craig, Drew and Blake Hanson and David Argast.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Rodney.
Pallbearers will be Craig Hanson, Garry, Tanner and Austinn Schanke, Brian Peterson and Scott Argast.

Robert J. Kelly
Robert J. Kelly, 77, of Sioux City died Sunday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Christy-Smith Mornigside Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a Masonic service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Gayle Raby
Gayle Raby, 69, of Sioux City died Monday; Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Eleanor L. Armstrong
Eleanor L. Armstrong, 82, of Glendale, Ariz., formerly of Sioux City, died Sunday; Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Peggy H. Pair
Peggy H. Pair, 74, of Sioux City died Monday; Meyers Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Donald H. Tarrant
NORFOLK, Neb. - Donald Harold Tarrant, 76, of Manhattan, Kan., formerly of Norfolk, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Mercy Health Center in Manhattan.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Baptist Church in Manhattan, with the Rev. Bob Flack officiating. Burial will be in Fort Riley Post Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.
Mr. Tarrant was born Dec. 29, 1923, in Norfolk, the son of Harold and Geraldine (McRoberts) Tarrant.
He married Dorothy Moore on Sept. 1, 1946, in Pipestone, Minn. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1970 as a lieutenant colonel. He was stationed in China, Newfoundland, Vietnam and France. Awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal and Meritorious Service Medal. Following his discharge, he was employed with Kansas State University, retiring in 1992 as a manager of information systems.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Nancy Thompson of Oskaloosa, Kan., Debbie Eggers of San Antonio and Kerry Maggard of Columbia, Mo.; a son, Jeff of Odessa, Mo.; two sisters, Betty Konegni and Rita Houser, both of Lincoln, Neb.; a brother, Bob of Pismo Beach, Calif.; and 11 grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to Grace Baptist Church in care of the funeral home, 1616 Poyntz Ave., Manhattan, Kan. 66502.

Irene D. Paulsen
IDA GROVE, Iowa - Irene Dorothea Anna Paulsen, 90, of Ida Grove died Sunday at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at United Church of Christ in Schleswig, Iowa. Burial will be in Morgan Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove.

James M. Crow
CUSHING, Iowa - James Michael Crow, 60, of Cushing died Sunday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at River Valley High School in Correctionville, Iowa. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville.

Gladys J. Anderson
LAUREL, Neb. - Gladys J. Anderson, 88, of Laurel, formerly of Concord, Neb., died Sunday at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Salem Lutheran Church in Wakefield, Neb. Burial will be in Wakefield Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bressler-Munderloh Funeral Home in Wakefield.

Marie Satterlee
IRETON, Iowa - Marie Satterlee, 95, of Hawarden, Iowa, formerly of Ireton, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 15, at United Methodist Church in Ireton, with the Rev. Dean Shelly officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Porter Funeral Home in Ireton.
Mrs. Satterlee was born July 2, 1904, in Primghar, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Grace Waldhelm. She attended high school in Primghar and graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She was employed with T.H. Jones Store in Spencer, Iowa.
She married Roland Satterlee on Jan. 30, 1930, in Spencer. The couple owned and operated Satterlee Funeral Home and Variety Store in Ireton for many years. Her husband died Dec. 31, 1970.
A member of United Methodist Church and Centennial Chapter 298 Order of the Eastern Star, she enjoyed her roses, knitting and baking.
Survivors include a brother, Joe Waldhelm of Brownsville, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

Ellen Rupp
STORM LAKE, Iowa - Ellen "Bonnie" Rupp, 70, of Storm Lake died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake, with the Rev. Clair Boes officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Wednesday, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. said by Legion of Mary and a vigil service at 7:30 p.m., at Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in Storm Lake.
Mrs. Rupp was born July 23, 1929, in Elk Point, S.D., the daughter of William and Sarah (Dennison) Connolly. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith. She graduated from Elk Point High School and attended a business technical school in Sioux City. She was employed with Wigman and Co. in Sioux City for approximately three years.
She married Donald Rupp on Oct. 23, 1953, in Elk Point. The couple made their home in Storm Lake, where she was employed in the registrar's office at Buena Vista College, retiring in the early 1970s. She was also a day care provider during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Guild. She enjoyed bingo, ceramics, auctions and reading.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Donita and her husband, Larry Jensen of Waterloo, Iowa, and Donisue Rupp of Des Moines; a son and his wife, Thomas W. and Trina of Des Moines; two sisters, Loretta Patnaude of Elk Point and Gladys and her husband, William Walsh of Quimby, Iowa; and five grandsons, Cory, Casey and Alex Jensen and Nicholas and Dillon Rupp.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Thomas William; a sister, Mary Florence; and a daughter, Mary Alice.
