Lawrence Quigg
Lawrence Erskine "Larry" Quigg, 50, of Idaho Falls, died Feb. 6, 1998, at Columbia Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born May 17, 1947, at Shelley, to Erskine C. and Donna M. Olaveson Quigg. He grew up in Shelley, attended school there, graduated from Shelley High School and later attended Ricks College. On June 16, 1978, he married Sonja Tew in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He worked for 16 years at Westinghouse as a custodian. In 1979, he received the Handicapped Recognition Award of the Year in the State of Idaho. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a member of the Sunday School Presidency and a Home Teacher. He loved hunting, fishing, swimming, watching educational shows and all sports. He also enjoyed ballroom dancing and music. The joy of his life was his daughter and doing things together as a family. Survivors include his wife, Sonja Quigg of Idaho Falls; a daughter, Allison Quigg of Idaho Falls; his mother, Donna Quigg of Shelley; two sisters, Annette Jackson of New Mexico and Gay Stuart of Ogden, Utah; three brothers, Karl Quigg of Ammon, Allan Quigg of Menan and Gary Quigg of Provo, Utah. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Woodruff LDS 1st Ward, 1666 12th St. in Idaho Falls, with Bishop John Hart officiating. The family will meet with friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W. Oak in Shelley and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to a memorial fund in Lawrence Quigg's name at any Bank of Commerce office.

Clyde W. Neibaur
Clyde William Neibaur, 65, of Idaho Falls, died Feb. 7, 1998, at Columbia Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Military graveside services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home in Idaho Falls.

Alta Berry Hill
REXBURG - Alta Berry Hill, 86, of Rexburg, Idaho, died Feb. 9, 1998, at Idaho Falls Care Center. She was born Oct. 22, 1911, in Wellsville, Utah, to Arther Francis Berry and Lottie Hoskins. She grew up and attended school in Rexburg. For many years she worked at Evan's Ice Cream Parlor and McDonald's Clothing Store. On Oct. 28, 1927, she married William Glen Forsgren. They later divorced. She married Clarence Painter Hill on Jan. 7, 1944. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He preceded her in death. She enjoyed doing temple work, gardening and flowers. She loved her family and friends, and all will miss her. Survivors include her children, Evadean (husband, Cliff) Long of Iona, Idaho, Sherel (wife, June) Forsgren of Chubbuck, Idaho, and Dwight (wife, Alana) Hill of Orem, Utah; three stepdaughters, Donna (husband, Dee) Parkinson of Rexburg, Delphia (husband, Dean) Hardy of St. Anthony, Idaho, and Deon (husband, Ralph) Fiscus of Ellensburg, Wash.; a sister, Gayle Miller of Salt Lake City, Utah; 25 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg. The family will meet with friends Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Burton Cemetery.

Jean L. Dunworth
Jean Lenore Dunworth, 76, a former resident of Idaho Falls, died Feb. 7, 1998, at her home in Chicago Ridge, Ill. She was the mother of 10 children, and a prolific artist. She donated her talent to Little Company of Mary Hospital, painting murals in the pediatric ward. She volunteered her energy and gifts in her home parishes of Most Holy Redeemer in Evergreen Park, Ill., and Christ the King Catholic Church in Idaho Falls, as a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was also involved in the Women's Community, in charge of Junior Legion of Mary. She was affiliated with the Idaho Falls Art Guild. As an artist, she created banners and decorations for the church and numerous parish events. She also painted portraits of clergy, family members, friends and her Idaho Falls Hockey boys. She was a gracious hostess, had a positive outlook on life, and her spirit will live on in each of her family members as she touched all their lives: sharing her gifts of creativity, compassion, selflessness, tenacity, giving and love. Survivors include her husband, Richard; seven daughters, Lee (Hugh), Gilmary (Rich), Caryl (Jim), MaryJo (Dave), Margaret, Mary Francis (Steve) and Regina (John), all of the Chicago area; three sons, Michael (Nantana), and Brian, both of the Chicago area, and Paul (Jennie) Dunworth of Idaho Falls; and 20 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made to Sister House, a non-profit home for women recovering from substance abuse. Veniece M. Copeland
RUPERT - Veniece M. Copeland, 83, a former resident of Blackfoot and Rupert, Idaho, died Feb. 7, 1998, at Bannock Regional Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho. She was born June 3, 1915, in Nephi, Utah, to Dan Loren and LaVerne Emily Warren Carter. She attended schools in Nephi, Blackfoot, and Rupert. During her high school years, she was a cheerleader for Rupert High School and played on its basketball team. After graduating from Rupert High School, she attended Beauty College in Idaho Falls. On July 15, 1946, she married Arthur "Dutch" Copeland in Blackfoot. She had lived in Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, Rupert, St. Anthony, Idaho, and Pocatello. While living in Rupert, she taught Little League Baseball for nine years. Her husband preceded her in death. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to go fishing and spend time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her son, Dan Copeland of Pocatello; a daughter, LaRae Steen of Spokane, Wash.; a sister, Donna Masoner of Twin Falls, Idaho; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons and three brothers. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel with Arvin Hansen officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary; and Friday for one hour before the services. Burial will be in the Rupert Cemetery.

Weldon Mac Ellis
Weldon Mac Ellis, 79, died Feb. 7, 1998, in a Boise hospital after a long illness. He was born July 21, 1918, at Crooked Creek near Dubois, Idaho, to Mack Stalker Ellis and Mary Gertrude Lidy Ellis. Weldon attended first through fourth grades in Idaho Falls. Then his family moved to a ranch on Crooked Creek where Weldon attended the one-room Warm Creek school with his two sisters, one brother, and several cousins. Weldon often recalled skiing to school in the winter and hauling the school's water by horse and wagon from Warm Creek. Weldon completed his junior and senior years in Roberts, Idaho, graduating in 1936. He attended Idaho State University in Pocatello for one year before moving to Los Angeles, California, where he took classes at the National Diesel School for two years. One of the highlights of his time there was working as a theater usher and seeing the young Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney in person. During World War II, Weldon served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1946. When Weldon returned from the service, he worked with his father on the Ellis family ranch. In 1954, he married Lucile Webster of Jerome, Idaho, and the couple resided at the Ellis family ranch. Their daughter, Susanne, was born in 1955. The following year, Weldon moved his family to a ranch in the Hunt area near Eden. Later, the family moved to a Webster family farm southwest of Jerome. The couple's second daughter, Rebecca, was born in 1959. Weldon continued to farm and raise cattle until his retirement in 1982. He and Lucile spent the next several years in Twin Falls. Weldon is survived by daughter, Sue Ellis, of Boise; daughter, Becky Stewart, her husband Brent, and five grandchildren, Jordan, Chelsea, Trevor, Bridger, and Rylan, all of Sandy, Utah; siblings, Lois Hawker and Robert Ellis, both of Monteview, Idaho, Lamar Ellis of Roberts, Idaho, and Jean Thomas of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews. Weldon was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Maxine, who died in infancy; and his wife, Lucile. The funeral will be Thursday, February 12, at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Baptist Church, Dubois, Idaho. Visitation with the family will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Church. The graveside service will be by the Dubois Veterans of Foreign Wars at the Dubois Cemetery.

AMERICAN FALLS - Verla Jean Moore Hendrickson, 65, of American Falls, Idaho, died Feb. 6, 1998, at Bannock Regional Medical Center in Pocatello. Ethel B. Galbraith
Ethel Briggs Galbraith passed away on February 9, 1998, at a Salt Lake City nursing home. She was born May 13, 1916, in Teton, Idaho, the daughter and only child of James and Leannah Morris Briggs. She attended elementary school in Teton and her freshman year of high school at Sugar-Salem, graduating from Madison High School in Rexburg as the valedictorian of her class. She attended the University of Idaho for two years. She then taught in a Bonneville County, Idaho, elementary school for one year and in Ashton Elementary School for two years. She married Marlin C. Galbraith of Lyman on May 29, 1939, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Her greatest work was as a wife, mother, and grandmother, all coordinated nicely with numerous church callings. She was a devoted and supportive companion to her husband throughout their 59 years of marriage, including many government transfers within Idaho and Montana as well as Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Albuquerque. When they moved to Ogden in 1967 she accepted a Tax Examiner position with the IRS, from which she retired in 1975. She spent the remaining years living in Island Park, Idaho, and Mesa, Arizona (Salt Lake City most recently). She made her home a haven of hospitality and love. She raised her children in righteousness and instilled in each of them a very positive work ethic and a desire to serve the Savior. Basic to her entire life was a quiet and solemn faith in her Redeemer, which was reflected in her consistent and energetic service. She is survived by her husband and four sons, Jim and Dixie, Bruce and Marie, and Kim and Glenda, all of Sandy, Utah, Randy and Bonnie of Ogden; and 16 grandchildren. Her parents and one grandson preceded her in death. Friends may call Wednesday, Feb. 11th, 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State St., Murray, Utah. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, 12:00 noon, at the Teton LDS Chapel, Teton, Idaho, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment: Teton-Newdale Cemetery on Friday. Vernon Christoffersen
TETONIA - Vernon Gregory Christoffersen, 87, of Tetonia, died Feb. 10, 1998, at Portneuf Valley Hospital and Rehab Center in Pocatello. He was born April 8, 1910, in Cove, Utah, to John Christian and Ava Sovonia Gregory Christoffersen. He grew up in the Teton Valley, attended schools there, and graduated with high honors from Teton High School. While in high school, he played on the basketball team and served as studentbody president. He married Zella Rose Moss and their marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. She preceded him in death. On Aug. 1, 1945, he married Etta Lee Wanlass in Montana. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She also preceded him in death. For many years, he farmed in the Teton Basin, and was Teton County Road Supervisor for 42 years. He served on the Cache-Clawson Cemetery Board; and on the Board of Directors of the Falls River Rural Electric Coop, as well as president for two terms. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in various positions, including bishop and as bishop's counselor in the Cache Ward. He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, and driving around the country. Survivors include his daughter, Verla Gene (husband, John) Furniss of Rigby; two sisters, Ina Clay and Fern Wallace, both of Chowchilla, Calif.; a brother, Grant Christoffersen of West Jordan, Utah; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother and a granddaughter. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Tetonia 2nd LDS Ward with David Breckenridge officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Cache-Clawson Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.

OREM, Utah - Virginia Robinson Reay, 80, of Orem, Utah, a former resident of Ucon, Idaho, died Jan. 31, 1998, at her home. She is the sister of area residents, LaRue Clark, Lee Robinson and Aaron Robinson, all of Ucon. Funeral services were held in Orem. Alice McIntyre Anderson
LOGAN, Utah - Alice McIntyre Anderson, former resident of Shelley, Idaho, age 90, died Monday, Feb. 9, 1998, at the Sunshine Terrace Nursing Home in Logan, Utah. A devoted and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was born in Park City, Utah, 1907, to Mary Maria Steele and Charles McIntyre. Raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Married Justin Charles Anderson on June 22, 1927, in the Salt Lake City Temple by Elder Hyrum G. Smith. She and her husband raised their family in the Ammon-Shelley, Idaho, area. Alice is survived by six children: Dwain J. (Lottie) Anderson, Las Vegas, Nevada; Delmar (Myrna) Anderson, Aurora, Colorado; Vaughn (Clara) Anderson, Roberts, Idaho; Justin Jean (Doris) Anderson, Mendon, Utah; Kenneth B. Anderson, Las Vegas, Nevada; Gloria J. (Larry) Haws, Sandy, Utah; brother: Robert McIntyre, Salt Lake City, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband, Justin C., whom she cared for faithfully until his death; her parents; brother, Albert; and sister, Annie. She has 31 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in which she served faithfully in many Ward and Stake callings. She blessed many over the years in her service as ward Relief Society president. She worked by her husband's side as he farmed and raised livestock to provide for his family. Justin was a prominent businessman and she supported him in whatever he did and wherever he went. Funeral services will be held Saturday at noon at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W. Oak St. in Shelley. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:40 at the funeral home. Alice will be laid to rest in the Ammon, Idaho, Cemetery.

SALMON - Jennie Francis Schneider, 89, died Feb. 7, 1998, at Discovery Care Centre in Salmon. Among her survivors is a niece, Patty (husband, Ernie) Schneider of Salmon. Rev. Robert H. Grant
PEABODY, Mass. - Rev. Robert H. Grant, 74, retired priest of the Archdiocese of Idaho, and former Pastor of Christ the King Catholic Church in Idaho Falls, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 1998, at the Wingate at Andover Nursing Home following a long illness. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Basil and Mary (Hayden) Grant. He attended Peabody schools, and graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1940. Fr. Grant was ordained into the priesthood on June 7, 1949, at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. He served in the Josephite Society, based in Baltimore, MD, which serves the spiritual, social and educational needs of the African-American Community in the USA. He continued his education at Catholic University, where he received his master's degree in Philosophy of Education. He served at St. Augustine's High School in New Orleans, LA, teaching Physics and Chemistry before becoming principal of the school, where he served 18 years, nine teaching and nine as principal. His leadership led to Time Magazine' recognition Jan 1965 as one of the best schools for African Americans, and their community outreach in the private sector and secondary school level was a model for desegregation in athletics, Mardi Gras parades, and American Legion Baseball. He also served an international capacity, teaching in Switzerland with the Marian Fathers and for one year in Rome with the Holy Cross Fathers. In 1970, he returned to the United States, continuing in parish work in Idaho. He was Associate Pastor of St. Edwards in Twin Falls. He was Incardinated into the Diocese of Boise, ID, in 1974, after which he served as Pastor and Administrator of several parishes. That order was first assigned as Pastor of St. George's in Post Falls, then Christ the King in Idaho Falls, St. Elizabeth's in Gooding, and finally Sacred Heart in Emmett. During his tenure of 20 years in Idaho, his special calling and satisfaction was the Religious Education programs and Bible Study classes. He was fortunate to take many personal journeys for travel and study in the Holy Land in Israel. This helped to bring first-hand knowledge - which he used extensively - in the Bible Study classes. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Robert F. (Priscilla) Lucy of Andover and Mrs. Thomas (Nancy) Benedict of Closter, NJ; seven nieces and nephews, and 14 grandnieces and grandnephews. His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. from the Francis L. Conway and Sons Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations in Fr. Hailey J. Allen
PACIFIC, Wash. - Hailey Jean Allen, 2-day-old infant daughter of Michael and Andrea Ramirez Allen, died May 23, 1998, at Pacific, Wash., of SIDS. She was born May 21, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Wash. Funeral arrangements are pending under the direction of Coltrin Colonial Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls.

Wil Green
Wilford Walter Green, 70, of Idaho Falls, died Feb. 10, 1998, at his home of cancer. He was under the care of Good Samaritan Hospice. He was born Sept. 5, 1927, at a farm house in Armel, Colo., to Roy and Ruth Taylor Green. He grew up in North Logan, Colo., and attended school through the eighth grade in a one-room schoolhouse in Yuma County. In 1945 he graduated from Armel High School. He worked for a while and then went into the Army at Fort Bragg, N.C., and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash. He was discharged in 1947 and worked for a year as a ranch hand in Nebraska. In January 1951, he started college at the University of Denver, graduating in 1955 with a degree in electrical engineering. For two years, he worked as an electrical engineer in St. Paul, Minn. In April 1967, he married Lynn Loula and they made their home in Rockford, Ill. They later moved to Denver, Colo., where their daughter, Lauren was born in 1970. They later moved to Idaho Falls and he worked as an engineer at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory. They divorced in 1971. He married Elna McDonald in 1975 and they were divorced in 1978. On Aug. 8, 1980, he married Dorothy May Gardner McGary in Idaho Falls. They lived in Richland, Wash., for two and a half years while he worked at the Hanford Site, and then returned to Idaho Falls. He was an airplane pilot and served on the ski patrol at Arapaho Basin, Colo. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Idaho Falls; a daughter, Lauren Green of Denver; stepchildren, Dennis McGary of Beaverton, Ore., Larry McGary of Hemet, Calif., Carol McClaskey of Idaho Falls, Betty Harrison of Ucon, Idaho, and Robert McGary of Torrance, Calif.; three sisters, Susan C. Lindgren of Golden, Colo., Lulu Engel of Denver, and Bertha Cook of Cornville, Ariz.; 14 stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Idaho Falls LDS 7th Ward, 955 Memorial Drive. In accordance with his wishes, he was cremated. Joseph M. Tucker
Joseph Major Tucker, 96, of Idaho Falls, died Feb. 9, 1998, at Columbia Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 31, 1901, at Limestone, Tenn., to Dr. Rufus Dudley Tucker and Sarah Louise Bailey Tucker. The family moved to Idaho Falls after his birth, and he spent his early years in Lewisville, Spencer, Rigby and Roberts. He attended the Idman School, east of Spencer. On April 5, 1925, he married Grace Gneiting at Challis, Idaho, his wife of 72 years. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in Firth, Menan and Idaho Falls, where he was a potato buyer, farmer, county appraiser, and real estate agent. They moved to Idaho Falls 40 years ago. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many callings, including bishop, temple worker and sealer, and served three full-time missions with his wife. He enjoyed reading, singing, and playing the ukelele. Survivors include his wife, Grace of Idaho Falls; children, J. Dudley (wife, Joyce) Tucker of Ucon, Idaho, Tom (wife, Glenda) Tucker of Idaho Falls, Paul (wife, Pat) Tucker, and Susan (husband, Nyle) Kinghorn, both of Seattle, Wash., and Barbara (husband, Don) Giauque of Midway, Utah; a brother, David Tucker of Salt Lake City; a sister, Martha Fugate of Salt Lake City; 32 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Betty and Jackie; seven sisters; and two brothers. Funeral services will be Saturday at noon at the Idaho Falls LDS Grandview Ward, 1450 Mountain View Lane, with Bishop Lloyd Petersen officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. in Idaho Falls, and Saturday for one hour before services at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
