Carolyn Hughes
URBANA -- Carolyn I. Hughes, 73, lately of Urbana, formerly of Tiskilwa, died Saturday, March 27, 2004, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign.
Born Dec. 7, 1930, in Tiskilwa to Wilbur J. and Marybelle (Stutzman) Smucker, she married Roger K. Hughes Nov. 9, 1948, in Sheffield. He died April 18, 2001.
She and her husband owned and operated the Hughes Funeral Home in Tiskilwa from 1948 until her husband's death in 2001. She was a member of the Tiskilwa Library Board, the L.M.I. and the Bridge Club, and was a longtime and very active member of the Willow Springs Mennonite Church in Tiskilwa.
Survivors include two sons, Jon M. (Carol) Hughes of Knoxville, Tenn., and Roger Kent (Mary) Hughes of Bloomington; one daughter, Barbara (John Taylor) Hughes of Urbana; two sisters, Annalee (Russell) Yorda of Morton and Katherine (Gerald) Brenaman of Albany, Ore.; and seven grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Christopher Hughes.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, in the Willow Springs Mennonite Church, Tiskilwa, with the Rev. Calvin Zehr officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Bloom Cemetery, Tiskilwa.
Visitation was held Monday in the Jensen Funeral Home, Princeton.
Memorials may be directed to the Tiskilwa Library Board or the Willow Springs Mennonite Church in Tiskilwa.

Ronald Massey
PRINCETON -- Ronald G. Massey, 63, of 333 W. Boyd Ave., Princeton, died at 9:05 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at home.
He was born April 12, 1940, in Claremont, Minn. to Walter and Margaret (Kelly) Massey.
He was a member of the Kasbeer Community Church and the Princeton Elks Lodge.
Survivors include four daughters, Natalie (Richard) Schafer of Kasbeer, Lisa (Robert) Lackman of Coralville, Iowa, Noelle Massey of Jackson, Mich., and Nicole (Michael) Frank of Princeton; two sons, Todd (Laura) Massey of Princeton, and Chad (Melinda) Massey of Mendota; two brothers, Russell (Virginia) Massey of Minnesota and Raymond Massey of Claremont, Minn.; two sisters, Rachel (Joseph) Gartner of Claremont, Kan. and Rita Massey of Colorado; and 17 grandchildren.
His parents, one son, Brett; one brother, Robert, and one sister, Ruth, all preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Saturday, at Kasbeer Community Church, the Rev. John Fowler officiating.
Cremation has been accorded. Burial of cremains will be later in Minnesota.
A memorial fund has been established.

Frances Kupczyk
OHIO, Ill. -- Frances M. Kupczyk, 76, of 209 N. Pleasant St., Ohio, Ill., died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Loyola Hospital in Maywood.
Born April 2, 1927, in Chicago to John and Stella (Skosz) Rymut, she married Edward Kupczyk April 25, 1949, in Chicago. He survives.
She was a homemaker, a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Ohio, Ill., and the president of her lodge of the Polish National Alliance and a member of the Ohio Senior Citizens, where she had served as past president.
Also surviving are one daughter, Nancy McCue of Sugar Grove; two sons, David (Sally) Kupczyk and John (Elizabeth) Kupczyk, both of Chicago; one sister, Helen Galarowicz of McFarland, Wis.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. today, Saturday, in the Garland Funeral Home, Walnut, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Ohio, Ill., with the Rev. Ed Bawiec officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ohio, Ill.
Visitation will be today from 9 to 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Visitation and a rosary service also were held Friday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Bureau Valley Area Hospice.

Hailey Nowlin
WALNUT -- Hailey Sue Nowlin, the daughter of John and Angel (William) Nowlin of 115 S. Main St., Walnut, was still born Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.
Survivors include her parents of Walnut; her maternal grandparents, Karen and Paul Coyle of Sterling; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, paternal great-grandparents and maternal great-grandparents.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in IOOF Cemetery, Rock Falls, with the Rev. Paul Nolden, pastor of the Walnut United Methodist Church, officiating.
A memorial has been established in her memory.

Floyd Rochnowski
PERU -- Floyd S. Rochnowski, 84, of 1190 Schuyler St., Peru, died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004, at Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru.
Born March 25, 1919, in Peru to Joseph and Katherine (Stanczykiewicz) Rochnowski, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Kurtenbach Nov. 24, 1945, in St. Joseph's Church. She survives.
He worked at Harper-Wyman Co. in Princeton in machine setup, retiring in 1982. He served with the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant during World War II with the 338th Infantry, 85th Custer division, serving in Africa and Italy.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, the Holy Name Society and the American Legion.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mary Ann (Ronald) Yanke of Davenport, Iowa, Joan Nicholson of Peru and Donna Rochnowski of Peru; one brother, Edward Rochnowski of Peru; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. today, Saturday, in the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru, and at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Peru, with the Rev. Henry Fritz, O.S.B., officiating.
Visitation and a scripture service were held Friday in the funeral home.

Richard Gerrond
EDMOND, Okla. -- Richard Allen Gerrond, 47, of Edmond, Okla., died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, near Dallas, Texas, as a result of a skydiving accident.
He was born Oct. 8, 1957, in Aurora to Donald Gerrond and Ruth (Croegaert Gerrond) Jensen.
He was raised in Atkinson and received his bachelor of science degree from Illinois State University in 1979. He was vice president for Energy Risk Associates Inc. in Dallas. He also was a member of the Church of the Servant in Oklahoma City.
Surviving are his wife, Ann Gerrond; one daughter, Mindy of Edmond, Okla.; one son, Randy of Edmond, Okla.; one brother, Dennis Jensen of Atkinson; one sister, Barb Doubet of Annawan; his stepfather, Wm. J. Jensen Sr. of Princeton; and his stepgrandmother, Mary (Jensen) May.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill Jensen.
A memorial service was held Tuesday in the Church of the Servant in Oklahoma City.
Memorials may be directed to the National Foundation for Cancer Research.

David Weise
TURLOCK, Calif. -- David Earl Weise, 89, of Turlock, Calif., died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at Brandel Manor Convalescent Hospital.
He was a native of Wyanet, where he graduated from high school in 1933. He attended his 70-year class reunion in 2003. He lad lived in Turlock since 1945. He graduated from the University of Illinois and from graduate school at the University of Southern California. He was on the Turlock High School faculty for 17 years. He taught business law and salesmanship, helped initiate and run the student store and was a coach. He previously was a coach in Wyoming, Ill., for two years.
He belonged to the California Teachers Association. He owned the Turlock Racquet Club from 1976 to 1979. He owned and trained horses, and belonged to the California Horseman's club and California Thoroughbred Association. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Turlock Country Club. He also was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church.
During World War II, he served in the security division of the Manhattan Project in Richland, Wash.
Surviving are his wife, Carole Weise of Turlock; two children, David Weise of Seattle and Mickey Weise of Las Vegas; one brother, Harold Weise of Indiana; one sister, Doris Maxine LaPointe of Hemet, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jim Weise.
Services and visitation were held in Turlock, Calif. Burial was in the Turlock Memorial Park.
Memorials may be directed to St. Francis Episcopal Church, 915 E. Main St., Turlock, CA 95380.
