Josephine Charlene (Glaeser) Huestis, who passed away at Alden of Des Plaines Apr. 27 at the age of 81, was laid to rest on Saturday, Apr. 29. Her funeral was conducted at the Oehler Funeral Home Chapel in Des Plaines. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles L. "Tex" Huestis and son Christopher R. (Carol) Huestis. She is survived by son Charles R. "Skip" (Suzanne) Huestis. She also leaves brothers Christopher R., Joseph A., Michael T., and Trenton W. Huestis; and sister Tara C. Huestis. The family requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers to the World War II Memorial Fund.

EDWARD H. JENSEN
Was Awarded Purple Heart

Edward H. Jensen died Monday, Apr. 24 in Park Ridge. He was born Jan. 7, 1926 in Chicago. Mr. Jensen earned a Purple Heart for his service in the Army's 87th Division during World War II, including the Battle of the Bulge. He later joined the Park Ridge VFW, and was a 50-year member of barbershop quartet society. He was a two-time district champion with quartets The Chicagoans and The Impostors. He was a member and chorus director of Chicago, Westtowns in Lombard and Skokie chapters. He was the choir director of Unity Church of the North Shore. Ed's pride and joy was his own barbershop singing family, The Singing Jensens. He was a woodshedder, and many loved his sense of humor. He was the husband for 55 years of Carol (nee Etscheld); father of Scott (Susan) of Carpentersville, Reese of Lake Zurich and the late Constance "Connie" Carol Jensen; grandfather of Kaila Marie Jensen; brother of Jean (the late Leonard) Polit; and uncle of many nieces and nephews. Services were Saturday, Apr. 29 at the N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, with interment at Memorial Park cemetery.

FREDERICK C. KROGER
Age 82

Frederick C. Kroger, a Franklin Park resident, died Apr. 26 at Manteno Veterans Nursing Home at 82. He fought in World War II with both the Army and the Navy, and worked 50 years as a union brick layer. Mr. Kroger was born in Scheessel, Germany, and married Marilyn (nee Benson). He had two sons, Brian L. (Donna) and Bruce J. (Jackie). He also left behind four grandchildren, Lauryn, Katie, Justin and Allison. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Heinrich, Walter and Hilda Fennell. Visitation was Friday, Apr. 28 at Grove Memorial Chapel, with interment at Ridgewood cemetery.

BERNARD MARTENSEN
Age 75

Services for Bernard J. Martensen, a resident of Mt. Prospect, will be held today (Wednesday) at 9:15 a.m. at St. Juliana Church. Mass will take place at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Queen of Heaven cemetery. Mr. Martensen was a veteran of the Marines and fought in the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW for 38 years and a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Juliana. He was retired from the Chicago Water Department, where he worked for 38 years. Mr. Martensen's survivors include wife Margaret Mary (nee Mitchell); children Mary Ellen (Thomas J.) Donlon; Catherine Ann (John) O'Shea and Bernard Jr., Christopher (Eileen) James and Patrick (Cindy) Martensen; grandchildren Ryan, Christopher, Matthew, Connor, Quinn, Anna and Katie Martensen, Kelly and Thomas Donlon, Margaret Mary and Jimmy Doyle and James Mahoney; sister Irene (the late Robert) Hayes; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were brothers Martin and Harold. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Maryville Academy, 1150 N. River Rd., Des Plaines, 60016.

BRIDIE MCHUGH
Chicago Resident

A funeral Mass for Bridie McHugh (nee Halloran), 73, a Chicago resident, was celebrated Apr. 28 in St. Constance Church, Chicago. Interment followed in Maryhill cemetery, Niles. Arrangements were by Cooney Funeral Home, Park Ridge. She was a native of Rosmuc, County Galway, Ireland. Surviving are children John Jr. (Sue), Martin (Jodl), and Gerard (Jennifer); grandchildren Morgan, Sloan, Keely, Ethan, and Molly; siblings Mary (the late Mike) Finnerty, Ann (Mike), Mannion, Nora (the late Con) Mahoney, Patrick (Gert), Colman (Rosemary), Joe, Barbara; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; a daughter, Nora; and a brother, Michael.

LJUBICA MEJASIC
Des Plaines Resident

A funeral Mass for Ljubica Mejasic, 78, of Des Plaines, was celebrated Apr. 27 in St. Stephen Protomartyr Church, Niles. Burial followed in Maryhill cemetery. Arrangements were by Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, Niles. A native of Karlovac, Poland, she died Apr. 24 in Lutheran General Hospital. Surviving are daughters Nada (Joseph) Eckert of Des Plaines, and Rose (Dragutini) (Mejasic) Culig; grandchildren Tom Culig, Maryann (Ray) Joyner, Eric and Mathew Eckert; siblings Walter (Helen) Matan, Joe (Laura) Matan, Dragica (Joseph) Kusan, Steve (Mira) Matan, Michael (Heidi) Matan, Charles (Helen) Matan; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Josip Mejasic; and brothers Ivan (the late Betsy), and George (Stephanie).

DOLORES MARIE MILLER
Formerly of Elk Grove Village

Dolores Marie Miller (nee Peterson), 75, died on Apr. 26 at her home in Phoenix. She was born Nov. 13, 1930, in Chicago, and worked as a claims adjuster for an insurance company for many years. She is preceded in death by her husband Forrest R. Miller. Miller is survived by her daughters, Laura Lee Kovacs, Pamela Ann (Vallory) Moreau, and her son Forrest R. Miller. She is grandmother to J. Scott Kovacs, Kassandra (Joe) Burnside, Heather and Amanda Moreau, and Penny and Ashley Miller. She is great grandmother of Joey Burnside. Surviving Miller are her sisters, Arline Gardner and Arveda Gregory. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services and internment was conducted May 1 at the Memory Gardens cemetery Chapel, Arlington Hts.

MICHAEL J. MURPHY
Age 61

A funeral service for Michael J. Murphy of Des Plaines took place Tuesday at Severino's River Woods Funeral Chapels. Mr. Murphy was born in Charleston, S.C. Aug. 1, 1944. He died Friday in Des Plaines. He was an Army veteran and an engineering technician. He was preceded in death by parents Maurice and Myra. Mr. Murphy leaves behind wife Grace (nee DeVries); children Christopher (Joie) and Amanda; grandchildren Mackenzie, Zachary, Jack and Calahan Michael; brother Andrew; and nieces Jennifer and Rebekah. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

ELLEN A. NAVARINI
Native Of Tuscany

Ellen A. Navarini (nee Nicolini) of Elk Grove Village passed away Friday at the age of 93. Services took place Monday at Queen of the Rosary Church and Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside. Mrs. Navarini was born in Tuscany, Italy and had also lived in the Jefferson Park area of Chicago. She was a retired employee of the Zenith Radio Corporation. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Evano J. Navarini; brothers Joe and Arthur (Josephine) Nicolini; and sisters Stella Gasperini and Mary Mengarelli. Mrs. Navarini is survived by daughters Gloria J. (Edward K.) Zemola, Geraldine (Jerry) Sadler and Joyce (the late Richard) Pawlowski; grandchildren Mark and Michael (Michelle) Sadler, Karen (John) Mayer, Edward Jr. (Ursula) Zemola, Kathleen (Tracy) Felente, Susan (Jeremy) Fueling, Lisa (Richard) Lindell and Heidi Pawlowski; great-grandchildren Amy, Daniel, David, Lisa, Jennifer, Alea, Angelina, Michael Jr., Tanya, Adam, Christopher, Nicholas, Isabella, Dillon, Joey, Brandon, Marissa, Gianna and Gino; and sister Ida Basse. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

CHARLES R. NELSON
of Morton Grove

A funeral mass for Charles R. Nelson, 70, took place on Wednesday, May 3 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles and St. Martha Church in Morton Grove. Visitation was Tuesday, May 2 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. He was born on Feb. 21, 1936 in Chicago. He was an electrician and worked with construction. He was the son of late Samuel Nelson and late Florence (Ihlo) Nelson. He is survived by is wife, Elaine (Marciniak) Nelson, daughter Pamela (Raymond) Altergott, grandchildren Nina, Gina and Trevor Schaefer and Rachel Altergott and brother Kenneth (Barbara) Nelson. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association. Funeral arrangements were made by Skaja Terrace Funeral Home.

CORNELIUS OSWALD
Of Chicago

A funeral Mass for Cornelius "Neal" Oswald, 46, took place on Monday, Apr. 24 at Queen of the Rosary Church in Elk Grove Village. Visitation was Sunday, Apr. 23 at Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village. Mr. Oswald was born in Chicago. He was part of the On Time Messenger family. He died on Apr. 18 at his home. He was preceded in death by his mother Catherine Oswald and his sister Colleen Hengst. He is survived by his father Paul P. (Gerry) Oswald, his brothers Paul (Mary), Mike (Pattie), Kevin (Linda), Sean (Debbie), Brian (Carol), Dennis (Sherlyn), and Carl (Paulette) Hengs, his dear friend Lynn Kaniff, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were made by Grove Memorial Chapel.

SYLVIA SLOWIK
Arlington Hts. Resident

A funeral Mass for Sylvia Slowik, 88, of Arlington Hts., was celebrated May 1 in St. John Brebeuf Church, Niles. Burial followed in St. Adalbert cemetery. Arrangements were by Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, Niles. A native of Chicago and a homemaker, she died Apr. 27 in Oakton Pavillion Nursing Home. Surviving are her son, Jerome (Debbie) of Arlington Hts., grandchild Jerome Slowik Jr.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, and a son, James.

MARGARET M. ZELASKO
Wife, Mother, Aunt

Margaret Zelasko died Apr. 24 at age 46, leaving behind a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jane Cunningham, and mother-in-law Jeanne Zelasko. She is survived by her husband, Edward; children Susan and Timothy; father, Jim; brothers Edward (Teresa) and Vincent (Suzanne); sister Patricia (the late Brendan) Chambers; and father-in-law Edward. She was sister-in-law to Judi and Tom Hackett, the late Marianne and Joel Griffone and Bill and Cyndi Zelasko, as well aunt, niece, cousin and friend to many. Visitation was held Wednesday, Apr. 26 at Cooney Funeral Home.

ANDREW A. CASTELLUZZO
Commercial Electrician

Andrew A. Castelluzzo, 64, of Park Ridge, passed away Apr. 16. He was a commercial electrician for 30 years for Continental Electric in Skokie. Visitation was held at Nelson Funeral Home, Park Ridge. Funeral services were held, Wednesday, Apr. 19 at noon from the funeral home to St. Paul of the Cross Church, Park Ridge. Mass was said at 1 p.m. Interment in St. Joseph cemetery, River Grove. Mr. Castelluzzo was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Rose and uncle, Narda Accomando. He is survived by his wife, Renee; children, Andrea, Marybeth (Dan) Fiden, Bryan Burgett and Todd Burgett; grandchildren Ben, Jonah, Alec and Evan; sisters, Angie (Bill) Fisher and Mary (Bob) Brown. The family requests that donations be made in the name of Andrew Castelluzzo to the Neurooncology Research Fund of Evanston Northwestern Healthcare Foundation, 1033 University Place, #450, Evanston, IL 60201.

DOROTHY CRISCUOLO
Niles Resident

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Apr. 12 at St. Benedict Home for Dorothy Criscuolo, 88, of Niles. Interment was in Eden Memorial Park in Chicago. She was preceded in death by her husband Victor, brother John and her parents. Survivors include her daughter Jeanne Boksa, Violet (Charles) Carpenter; grandchildren Debra (James) Voss, Kimberly (Tom) Gadomski, Gina Boksa and great grandchildren Bradley, James, Kathryn and Julia.

MARIE CLOUD
Age 84

A memorial mass will be held for Marie F. Cloud, 84, of Niles at St. John Brebeuf Church on Thursday, Apr. 20. Interment in St. Adalbert cemetery, 6800 N. Milwaukee Ave. Born Mar. 4, 1922, she died Apr. 13, 2006 in Bethany Terrace Nursing Home. She had worked as a secretary for Chicago Title and Trust. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; step-son, Dennis Cloud; and step-daughter, Dorris (Bob) Stanek. Survivors include brother, John (Lillian) Scotese; sister, Elizabeth Scotese; step-daughter, Elizabeth (John) Wiszus; and step grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, Niles.

NORMAN H. DAVIDSMEYER
Of Elk Grove Village

A graveside funeral service for Norman H. Davidsmeyer, 93, of Elk Grove Village, took place on Wednesday, Apr. 12, at Diamond Grove cemetery in Jacksonville, Ill. Visitation was Tuesday, Apr. 11 at Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village. Mr. Davidsmeyer was born in Virginia, Ill. and owned Davidsmeyer Bus Service, Inc., since 1947. He passed away at his home on Apr. 9. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one half-brother. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Georgia (nee Leake); his loving daughter, Karen (Richard) Bingham; cherished grandchildren, William (Lea Ann) Bingham, Robert (Emily) Bingham and Kimberly Bingham, and his great-grandchildren, Kara and Robbie; and his fond half-brother and half-sisters, Jimmie Davidsmeyer, Joann (Richard) McGill, Mary (Marty) Pond and Claralee (Leslie) Little. Funeral arrangements were made by Grove Memorial Chapel.

MARY M. JENSEN
Age 85

Mary M. Jensen of Arlington Hts. passed away Apr. 13 at Lexington of Streamwood. Mrs. Jensen was born Feb. 6, 1921 in Elmhurst to the late Russell and Henietta Jensen. She had worked for many years as a secretary at a law firm. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Visitation took place Monday at Meadows Funeral Home, with interment at Memory Gardens.

ELMER CARL JOHNSON
WWII Veteran

Elmer Carl Johnson, 81, of Park Ridge, passed away April 9 at Resurrection Hospital, Chicago. Visitation will be on Friday, Apr. 21, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 Talcott Rd. (at Cumberland) Park Ridge. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be at All Saints cemetery, Des Plaines. Mr. Johnson was a WWII veteran of the United States Army. He was the co-owner of Walteris Restaurant in Park Ridge and previous co-owner of Edison Park Inn, Chicago. He was the brother of Adeline (Joseph) Johnson, Ruth (late Glen) Wittbrod, Pearl (late Harold) Murphy and the late Howard (late Margaret and Edwin (late Dorothy). Mr. Johnson was a contributor to American Wildlife and the Anti-Cruelty Society. Memorials may be made to charities concerning animal welfare or the Salvation Army.
