A funeral for Donald F. Sakalis, 78, took place on Saturday, Sept. 9, at the G.L. Hills Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Visitation was open shortly before the service at G.L. Funeral Home. Mr Sakalis worked as a funeral director for many years at Weinstein. He was also a member of the 773 local union. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Rosemary; children Donald (Paula) Sakalis Jr., Jeffrey Sakalis, John Sakalis, and Patrice (late John) Piechur; grandchildren Christina, Daniel, Dirk, Justin, Matthew, and Michael; and great grandchild Madison. He was preceded in death by his sister Sophie Best. Interment was private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association and the American Heart Association.

Walter Slywka
Des Plaines trucker

Visitation for Walter Slywka, a longtime Des Plaines resident, will be from 4-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15 at Severinošs River Woods Funeral Chapel, 205 S. River Road in Des Plaines. The funeral will begin at 10 a.m. the following day, with interment at Maryhill. Born July 13, 1946 in Germany, Mr. Slywka died Sunday, Sept. 10. He was raised and educated in Chicago before beginning a career as a truck driver. He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane L. (Sherman), son Joey, father Mykola and brother Michael. He is survived by sons Bradley (Jenny) Garcia and Christopher; daughter Lynn (Robert) Karlsky; mother, Maria; eight grandchildren and another brother, George (Virginia) of Las Vegas.

MARION D. STOJEK
Of Chicago

A funeral Mass for Marion D. Stojek, 60, took place on Thursday, Aug. 31 at St. Constance Church. Interment was at Maryhill cemetery. Visitation was on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles. Mr. Stojek was born in Germany on Feb. 28, 1946. He worked as a manager in manufacturing and died on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006 at Resurrection Pavillion Nursing Center. His mother, Helen Stojek nee Robak, preceded him in death. His father Marian Stojek and his sister Elizabeth Stojak survive him. Skaja Terrace Funeral Home made funeral arrangements.

GERTRUDE TEDDER
Of Arlington Heights

A graveside service and internment for Gertrude Tedder (nee Johnson), 92, took place Tuesday, Sept. 5, at the Mt. Emblem cemetery Grand in Elmhurst. She is survived by her nephews Al (Maureen) and Roger (Judy) Carlsen; grand-nephews Jim (Mary) and Josh Carlsen. She was preceded in death by her husband William and her parents Otto and Helga Johnson.

EARL E. WEISS
Construction Worker

A graveside funeral service for Earl E. Weiss, 59, of Niles, was held Sept. 11 in Ridgewood cemetery. Arrangements were by Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, Niles. A construction worker and a military veteran, he died Sept . 7. Surviving are siblings Richard of Laguna Beach, CA, and Julie (John) Koessler; and nieces Hadley and Taylor.

ADELINE C. ZARECKI
Of Park Ridge

A funeral Mass for Adeline C. Zarecki (nee Krzemie), 84, took place on Saturday, Sept. 9, at St. Emily Church. Interment was at St Adalbert cemetery. Visitation was on Friday, Sept. 8, at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles. Mrs. Zarecki was born in Chicago on Oct. 29, 1921. She worked as a homemaker and died on Monday, Sept. 4 in Park Ridge. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Zarecki; her siblings Bruno Krzemien, Estelle Rudnick, John (Rose) Krzemien, Felicia Kopulos and Chester (Victoria) Krzemienski; and her parents Karl Krzemien and Bernice (nee Trojan) Krzemien. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Daley, her nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

BARBARA A. COVILL
of Rosemont

A funeral Mass for Barbara A. Covill (nee Matusiak), 70, took place privately this month. Visitation was Monday, Sept. 4 at the Cooney Funeral Home in Park Ridge. Mrs Covill is survived by her husband David L.; children David M. and Susan M. (Matt) Covill-Bush; siblings Adrienne (the late John Ralph) Massell, Constance and James Matusiak; sister-in-law Carole Covill; and many nieces and nephews. Internment was also private. AUGUST R. DELISI
of Arlington Heights

A funeral Mass for August R. Delisi, 68, took place on Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Colette Church. Visitation was Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Mr. Delisi was born on Oct. 21, 1937, in Chicago. He was a retired executive vice president for an insurance company and died Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, at his home. His sister Constance Hjelm preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Sandra nee Kozerski; his children Mark (Tari), Jacqueline (Mark) Johnson, Kenneth (Debbie), Richard and Michael (Laura) Delisi; his grandchildren Timothy, Amanda and Nicole Schulte, and Giancarlo, T.J., Adam, Kevin, Anthony, Brianne, Evan, Lauren, August James and Samantha Delisi; and his siblings Anthony Delisi and Maryann (James) Steppke. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Cancer Society, Juvenile Diabetes Assoc. or masses are appreciated. Meadows Funeral Home made funeral arrangements.

DONALD W. FLYNN
Truck driver from Park Ridge

A funeral service for Donald W. Flynn, 74, took place on Tuesday, Sept. 5 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles. Visitation was the same day. Mr. Flynn was born in Chicago on Oct. 30, 1931. He was a member of Teamsters Local 714 for 30 years and died on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary (nee Hickey) Flynn and his parents Wesley B. Flynn and Helen B. (nee Gray) Flynn. His children Donald (Angie) Flynn and Peggy Flynn and his grandchildren Nicholas Flynn and Kimberly Chalupa survive him. Skaja Terrace Funeral Home made funeral arrangements.

JAMES ROBERT KELLY
of Des Plaines

A funeral service for James Robert Kelly, 67, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 5 p.m. at Severino's River Woods Funeral Chapel in Des Plaines. Interment will be private. Visitation precedes the service from 1 to 5 p.m. Mr. Kelly is survived by his children Donna (Craig) Minkley and Colleen (Bernard) Hirschbine; his grandchildren Danielle, Teagan, Leanne, Connor, Ainslie, Victoria, Timothy, Alexis, Krysta, Vincent and Alyssa; his sisters Karen (Dave) Sutherland and Linda Sak; and many nieces and nephews. WILMA P. KLASSMAN
Retired nurse from Elk Grove Village

A funeral Mass for Wilma P. Klassman (nee Plummer), 79, took place on Saturday, Sept. 2 at St. Julian Eymard Church in Elk Grove Village. Interment was at Randhill Park cemetery in Arlington Heights. Visitation was Friday, Sept. 1 at Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village. Mrs. Klassman was born in Grafton, Ill. She was a nurse who retired from Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village after 20 years of service. She was a wonderful wife and mother, and her 11 grandchildren were the light of her life. She lived in Elk Grove Village for 45 years and died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, at Alexian Brothers. Her siblings, Francis, Thomas and Dorothy Plummer, Marceline Rende and Ernestine Kennington, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Albert Klassman; her children Paul (Lynn), Anne (David Zimberoff) Klassman, Kathryn (Kenneth Shuler) Klassman and Debra (Nicholas Savramis) Klassman; her grandchildren Amy, David, Thomas, Dylan, George, Charles, Audrey, Olivia, Anna, Samuel and Elizabeth; and her siblings Jerome and Virgil Plummer, Mary Dritz, Joan Campbell and Donna Longiny. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Children's Memorial Hospital Foundation, 2300 Children's Plaza, Box 4, Chicago, IL 60614 are appreciated. Grove Memorial Chapel made funeral arrangements.

PHILIP MALINGER
50-year Resident

Philip E. Malinger died quietly Sept. 5 at his son's residence. He was born July 7, 1912 to Thomas and Mary Malinger in Chicago. He married the late Stephanie (nee Janicki), and spent more than 40 years with Morgan Sash & Door of Broadview, retiring as vice president and general manager. He is survived by his son, Thomas (Kathy) of Lake Forest; daughter Bonnie (Al) LaVezzi of Oak Brook; grandchildren Stephanie (Bob) Benson of Des Plaines, Tonilyn (Hank) Gianatasio of Oak Brook, Lynette (Geoff) Wiley of Brooklyn, N.Y., Lorene (Eric) Caravello of Mt. Prospect and Kevin (Cathy) Malinger of Wauconda; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation was Thursday, Sept. 7. Prayers will begin at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8 at St. Stephen Church, 1267 Everett in Des Plaines, with funeral to follow. Mr. Malinger will be entombed at All Saints Mausoleum.

MARGARET G. MARC
Age 48

Palatine resident Margaret G. Marc lost her nine-year battle with breast cancer Aug. 30. Services took place Tuesday at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home and St. Theresa Church, followed by burial at Maryhill cemetery. Ms. Marc graduated from Elmwood Park High School and nursing school in Peoria. She was the director of Manor Care Nursing Home in Rolling Meadows for 16 years and was in Elk Grove prior to that. Ms. Marc is survived by mother Lucille; siblings Mitchell (Celeste) Marc and Mary Alice (Harry) Fox; nephews Harry and Michael Fox and Nicholas and Mitchell Marc; niece Lauren Marc; and cats Thunder and Lightning. She is preceded in death by father Casimir Marc and sister Kathleen (Joe) Budzyn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 4100 Madison, Suite 3, Hillside, IL 60162 or PETA, 501 Front St., Norfolk, VA 23510.

ARTHUR JOSEPH MIKOLAJCZYK
of Chicago

A funeral for Arthur Joseph Mikolajczyk, 83, took place on Saturday, Sept. 2, at the Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles. Visitation was open shortly before the service at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Mr Mikolajczyk was a Chicago police officer and army veteran. He is survived by his wife Rita; daughter Deborah (Ken) Sahnas; grandchildren Krista and Kyle Sahnas; sister Loretta (Joseph) Vrabel; nephews Kenneth Vrabel and Henry Jr. (Cecelia) Mikolajczyk; and niece Terry Lynn (David) McClendon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rainbow Hospice in Park Ridge.

TERRY M. REISKE
Cafe owner, Golfer

Terry M. Reiske, a Mt. Prospect man formerly of southeast Wisconsin, died Sunday, Aug. 28. He was born Sept. 29, 1943 in Milwaukee. Mr. Reiske owned Monica's Cafe, was an avid golfer and loved movies. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Laverne (nee Betram). He is survived by his children, Steven, Scott (Richele), Teresa (Randy) Chappa and Shawn (Jill); grandchildren Luke, John, Jennifer, Justeen, Miguel, Antonio, Jacob, Whitney and Tyler; his significant other, Monica Olson; sister Lynn Reiske and the mother of his children, Kathleen Dahle. Visitation was 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31; the funeral followed.

ERNEST D. ROSSI
WWII Veteran of Mt. Prospect

A funeral service for Ernest D. Rossi, 81, will take place on Friday, Sept. 8 at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Interment will be in Memory Gardens cemetery in Arlington Heights. Visitation was Thursday, Sept. 7 at the funeral home. Mr. Rossi was born in Chicago on March 20, 1925. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. He worked for many years as an accountant in the construction trade. He died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at his home. He was the husband of Judy (nee Schaefer) and the late Phyllis Rossi; the father of Dennis (Tam) Rossi, Jack Rossi and Jean (Lee) Grulke; the grandfather of Alison, Matthew and Jonathan Rossi, and Bradley (Hilary) and Lindsey Grulke; the great-grandfather of Bowie Rossi; and the brother of the late Guy (Joan) and Michael (Josie) Ross and Mario Rosucci. In lieu of flowers, contributions to North Suburban Evangelical Free Church, 200 County Line Road, Deerfield, IL 60015 are appreciated.

ARDELL E. BLOCK
Resident of Park Ridge

Ardell E. (nee Black) Block, 87, of Park Ridge passed away on Aug. 17. She was the wife of late Elmer Block and Frank Fredrick. Mrs. Block is survived by her sons, Robert (Kathleen) Fredrick, Donald (Mercedes) Fredrick, Richard Fredrick, and Gary (Cindy) Fredrick. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy (late Albert) Pater; and her grandchildren, Jason, Noelle, Kimberly, Scott and Allison. Visitation was held at Nelson Funeral Home on Aug. 22. Funeral services were conducted at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Park Ridge, on Aug. 23, and interment at Town of Maine cemetery, Park Ridge, followed.

FRANK JOHN BREITSAMETER
Of Mount Prospect

A funeral Mass for Frank John Breitsameter, 87, took place Friday, Aug. 25 at St. Emily Church in Mount Prospect. Visitation was Thursday, Aug. 24 at the Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mount Prospect. Mr Breitsameter attended and served in the Navy during World War II. He later graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of St. Emily's parish, and belonged to St. Em's Gem's and VFW Post No. 1337, all in Mount Prospect. He belonged to several professional engineering organizations such as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Mr Breitsameter served as an election judge over the years. Upon retirement, he was a safety consultant and expert witness concering safety guidelines. He is survived by his wife Irene; children Janice (John) Pietron, John (Barbara) Breitsameter, and George (Molly Austin) Breitsameter; grandchildren Terrence, Jay, and Ellen Breitsameter; sister-in-law Doris Mohapp; brother-in-law Louis Mohapp; and uncle Joe Ilmberger. Interment was at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. In lieu of flowers, spiritual remembrances will be appreciated, or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

ELMER G. CAIN
Age 84

A funeral Mass for Elmer G. Cain, 84, took place Monday, Aug. 28 at the Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village. Visitation was Sunday, Aug. 27, at the Grove Memorial Chapel. Mr Cain worked for ITW Fastex for 25 years. He was also a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 948 in Chicago as well as an active member and volunteer at the Shiela Ray Adult Center since 1988. He is survived by his wife LaVerne (nee Christensen); sons Lawrence (Patty) and George (Debbie) Cain; sister Beulah (Wilbur) Elliott; grandchildren Phil and Sean Cain, Heather Zoeller and Erik and Mark Cain; and five great grandchildren. Interment was at Acacia Park cemetery in Chicago. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Shiela Ray Adult Center.

ROSE M. COULTER
Of Prospect Heights

A funeral mass for Rose M. Coulter nee Lavorci, 91, took place Saturday, Aug. 26 at St. Alphonsus Church in Prospect Heights. Visitation was Friday Aug. 25 at the Matz Funeral Home in Mount Prospect. Coulter was president of the Prospect Heights Little League. She was also a women's clothes buyer until retirement. She is survived by her children Patricia (Thomas) Haenisch; grandchildren Thomas (Lisa) Haenisch and Kiley Haenisch; sisters Phyllis Teets and Louise Andrade; nephew Greg (Stephanie) Teets and Bobby (Marilyn Tortoriello; and niece Therese Tortoriello. She was the wife of late Eugene M. Interment was at St. Mary cemetery in Evergreen Park.
