IRENE DOWGUN
of Arlington Heights

A funeral service for Irene Dowgun, nee Dillon, 82, took place Saturday, Nov. 10, at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. Interment was at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation was Friday, Nov. 9 at the funeral home. Mrs. Dowgun was born on June 6, 1925 in Brighton, England. She was a homemaker and died on Nov. 6, 2007 in Arlington Heights. Her husband Tadek Dowgun, her daughters Marysia Olson and Theresa Dowgun and her parents John and Susan Dillon preceded her in death. Her children Nina (Larry) Carney, Christopher (Angelina) Dowgun, and Lisa (Dan) Kettler, her grandchildren Christine (John) Hill, Robert Olson, John (Nicole) Olson, Jim (Lisa) Carney, and Allen Henricks, her great-grandchildren Karena and Megan, her siblings Hilda, Grace, Kathleen, and Bobby, and all her Bingo friends at "The Barn" survive her.

ALFRED FIRUS
of Arlington Heights

A funeral service for Alfred Firus, 82, took place Thursday, Nov. 8, at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. Interment was at Memory Gardens cemetery. Visitation was at the funeral home. Mr. Firus was born on Oct. 5, 1925 in Poznan, Poland. He worked as a building superintendent. He died on Nov. 5, 2007 at his home. His wife Margarete, nee Arndt, his children Linda (Lawrence) Trzaskus, his grandchildren Eric (Renea) Tarasievich and Tracy (Alexander) Marchetti Jr., and his great-grandchildren Payton Tarasievich, Alexander III, and Emma Marchetti survive him. In lieu of flowers, contributions to American Diabetes Assoc. or Parkinson's Disease Assoc. are appreciated.

KIMBERLY GARDNER-JONES
of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Kimberly Gardner-Jones of Des Plaines, 45, was held Saturday, Nov. 10 at First Congregational Church in Des Plaines. Visitation was held at the same location prior to the service. She passed away Saturday, Oct. 27. She is survived by her husband, Bradley Jones; father, Richard Gardner; brother, Rick Gardner; mother-in-law, Charmaine G.; brother-in-law, Colby B. Jones; and nephews, Derrick and Dillon Gardner. Mrs. Gardner-Jones was preceded in death by her mother, Joan; and father-in-law, Colby D. Jones.

GARY GOLZ
Army veteran formerly of Rolling Meadows

A funeral service for Gary Leonard Golz of Roswell, Georgia, and formerly of Rolling Meadows, 60, was held in Georgia. He passed away Thursday, Nov. 1 in Georgia. He was a graduate of Arlington High School, Class of 1965. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army. Additionally, he had worked in sales for many years and was fond of nature and the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Mona; children, Jennifer (Steve) Segraves, Tina Dukes, and Justin; five grandchildren; mother, Dorothy; and sister, Cynthia Koll. Mr. Golz was preceded in death by his father, Leonard.

JOAN SUSAN GREEN
of Arlington Heights

A funeral Mass for Joan Susan Green was held at the St. James Catholic Church in Arlington Heights on Monday, Nov. 5. Interment followed at St. Michael the Archangel cemetery in Palatine. Visitation was Sunday, Nov. 4 at the Glueckert Funeral Home in Arlington Heights. Born Aug. 30, 1941 in Lynbrook, NY, Green died at her home in Arlington Heights on Oct. 31. Green worked as vice president of the Northpoint Bank and head teller at the Bank and Trust Company. Before retiring, Green was the business manager for St. James Catholic Church. Green is survived by her husband of 40 years, Donald L. Green; sons, Don (Patty) Green of Atlanta, GA and Bill Green of Hainsville; daughters, Barbara Green of Schaumburg, Debra (Burdette) Potts of Algonquin, Cathy Solger of Island Lake, Mary (Robert) Weltmer of Yorba Linda, CA; grandchildren, Jim and Greg Rommel, Susie Imhoff, Stephanie Juneau, Andrew Solger, Niki Green, Marissa, Jamiee and Tim Weltmer; great grandchildren, Jimmy, Ashley and Maggie Rommel, Jacqueline Babicki, Bobby Romanowski, and Nicholas Juneau and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Bill Schaffer.

LEROY W. HASSELMANN
WWII veteran of Mt. Prospect

A funeral service for Leroy W. Hasselmann, 82, took place on Friday, Nov. 9 at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. Interment was at Memory Gardens cemetery. Visitation was on Thursday, Nov. 8 at the funeral home. Mr. Hasselmann was born on Sept. 17, 1925 in Des Plaines. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the VFW, Pioneers of Illinois, Bell Boys, and the Duck Hollow Hunting Club. He died on Nov. 4, 2007. His wife Mary Louise Hasselmann and his siblings Arnold Hasselmann and Alta Mae Kepka preceded him in death. His children Barbara (Joseph) O'Donnell, John Hasselmann, and Linda (Gabriel) Zamudio, and his great-grandchildren Shannon, Lindsey, and Colleen O'Donnell and Brittny and Ryan Zamudio survive him.

DELMER L. HOAGLAND
Formerly of Des Plaines

Delmer Leon Hoagland (71), surrounded by those who loved him dearly, passed quietly on November 7, 2007 at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton, WI. As the November winds blew, the changing leaves signified the change in his health but not his love of life. Born to Elmer and Delia (Provencher) Hoagland on March 13, he lived his childhood in Sturgeon Bay, WI. His favorite childhood memories included receiving his pilot license from the Sturgeon Bay Airport, and breaking the pole-vaulting record at Sturgeon Bay High School.
Moving to Des Plaines, IL after a six year tour in the United States Air Force, Del spent the rest of his life working on the airplanes that he loved. He built many airplanes, but his favorite was his Varieze. Proudly spending 20 years as a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), he and his Varieze flew into and showed at 8 air shows. Always joking, friendly and eager to lend a hand, his co-workers fondly remember the 39-1/2 years he spent at United Airlines before retiring to Wonder Lake, IL. He also proudly served in the USAF Auxiliary - Civil Air Patrol, holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel through 2007.
Loved by many, he brought his love of life and airplanes to everyone he met. Friends were plentiful and scattered all over the world. He is survived by his two daughters, Michelle Hoagland and Renee (Mark) Mendez; three grandchildren Dean, Nicole, and Ricky Mendez; his mother Dee Brown; and his three sisters Lee Ann (Fred) Blizel-Luebeck, Sue Wright, and Bonnie (Ronald) Gorzynski.
A memorial service will be held at Oehler's Funeral Home in Des Plaines, IL on the afternoon of December 8. Oehler's is located at 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, IL 847-824-5155. The family has also created a memorial web page at DelHoagland.legacy.com and invite people to offer stories and messages to share.

MARILYN L. KARLING
of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Marilyn L. Karling, 80, a resident of Des Plaines, was held Wednesday in Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St., Des Plaines. Burial will be in Acacia Park cemetery. A native of Chicago, she died Nov. 10 in Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Surviving are her husband, Norman; daughter Linda (the late Joseph) Cerda; son David (Debbie) Karling; step-grandchildren Debbie Hart and Chris Cerda; grandchildren Steven Quarnstrom and Amanda, Ashley, and Anthony Karling; and great-grandchildren Steven, Madeline, Jordan, Eric, and Claire. Memorials are requested to the American Heart Association.

HAZEL "JANE" KOHNKE
of Arlington Heights

Funeral services were held for Hazel "Jane" Kohnke of Arlington Heights on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Glueckert Funeral Home in Arlington Heights with interment following at the Fairmount Willow Hills Park in Willow Springs. Visitation was on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at the funeral home. Kohnke was born Dec. 18, 1916 in Peoa, Utah and died on Nov. 2 in Arlington Heights. Kohnke is survived by her children, David Kohnke of Branson, MO, Frank (Marilyn) Kohnke of Worth and Susan Brown of Arlington Heights; grandchildren, Jamie, Mike and Brian, Brittany and Robert Kohnke, Kimberly and Chris Walter; great grandchildren, Miranda and Caitlyn Munch and Alexis Kohnke and her sister, Louisa Louering. She was preceded in death by her parents Franklin and Edith Barnum and her husband Earl B. Kohnke, son Henry Kohnke and siblings Norma Wright, Melba Mortenson, Fay Stembridge, Henry Barnum and Esther Barnum.

ALMA E. LUTHER
of Wheeling

A funeral service for Alma E. Luther, 98, will take place at a later date in Sheboygan, Wisc. Mrs. Luther was born on Nov. 11, 1908 in Mesinee, Wisc. She lived most of her life in Sheboygan and worked as a waitress and hostess. She later moved to California before settling in Illinois. She died on Nov. 8, 2007. Her husbands Wilbert C. Burhop, Earl DeSombra, and Kenneth J. Luther, her daughter Beverly Ashurst, her grandson Charles R. Burhop, and her parents Emil and Ellen, nee Dillon Nesst, preceded her in death. He children Charles D. (Mary Jane) Burhop, son-in-law Albert Ashurst, grandchildren Susan Muszczynski, Patricia Poltzer, Matthew Burhop, John Burhop, and Charles Ashurst, and nine great-grandchildren survive her.

JOSEPH F. MEUSE
World War II veteran

A private funeral service and interment was held recently for Joseph F. Meuse, 80, of Arlington Hts. Arrangements were by Meadows Funeral Home, Rolling Meadows. A veteran of World War II service in the U.S. Army, he died Nov. 9 in Northwest Community Hospital. He provided security services for the Hilton Hotel in Chicago for many years. "He was a warm and gentle man with great humor and love for his family and country, " according to a family member. Surviving are his son, Michael Corbett, grandchildren Megan and Erin Corbett, sister Ann Squires, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jean (nee Sundquist); and son Richard (Marsha) Corbett.

DONALD L. "BUTCH" MEYER
Korean War veteran of Rolling Meadows

A funeral service for Donald L. "Butch" Meyer, 73 will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Interment will be at Memory Gardens cemetery in Arlington Heights. Visitation was Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the funeral home. Mr. Meyer was born on Nov. 25, 1933 in Chicago. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, where he earned the rank of sergeant. He worked for the first gas station in Rolling Meadows, the Public Works department, and Continental Airlines. He was an avid fisherman and holds the record for 146 fish in one day in Portage, Wisc. He died on Nov. 11, 2007 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. His wife Barbara J. nee Wechselberger and his brother Robert (Rhoda) Meyer preceded him in death. His children Debra Williams, Louis (Kimberly) Meyer, and Patricia (Eric) Hill, his grandchildren Donald, James, and Kevin Williams, Shawn and Kailee Meyer, and Jake and Lindsay Hill, and his sister Arlene "Sis" (Kenneth) Wood survive him.

RAYMOND J. MULCRONE
of Park Ridge

A funeral Mass for Raymond J. Mulcrone, 30, of Park Ridge, was celebrated Nov. 12 in St. Paul of the Cross Church. Interment was private. Arrangements were made by Cooney Funeral Home, Park Ridge. He died Nov. 8. Surviving are his parents, Patrick and Loretta; siblings Maureen, Nancy (Michael) Funk, and Patrick (Katie); nephews Bridget, Shannon, and Danny Funk, Reagan and Nola Mulcrone; uncles and aunts Bob and Rita Koscielniak; Larry and Mary Murphy, Denise (the late John) Mulcrone, Mary Catherine Mulcrone, Michael and Mary Therese Mulcrone, and Mary Beth and Jim Fagan; and many cousins.

M. ELAINE NIEDERT
Formerly of Des Plaines

A funeral service for M. Elaine Niedert (nee Butke), 89, will take place Monday, Nov. 19, 11 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Des Plaines. A visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, at the Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines. The interment is at Ridgewood cemetery. Mrs. Niedert died on Monday, Nov. 12, at the Hospice By the Sea in Boca Raton, FL. She was a resident of Parkland, FL for the last five years. She was born on Oct. 29, 1918, in Aurora, IL.

KEVIN ROSSDEUTCHER
Automotive sales manager of Mt. Prospect

A funeral Mass for Kevin Rossdeutcher, 45, took place Friday, Nov. 9, at St. Raymond Church in Mt. Prospect. Interment was at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation was at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. Mr. Rossdeutcher was born on Nov. 18, 1961, in Chicago. He worked as a salesman for Gold Eagle Co., earning promotions to sales manager and finally to director of national accounts. He died on Nov. 5, 2007 at home, surrounded by his family and friends. His wife Christine M. Rossdeutcher, nee Borris, his children Tyler, Emily, and Melanie, his parents Robert and Jeanne Rossdeutcher, his brothers Robert (Anne) and Steven (Peggy) Rossdeutcher, and his parents-in-law Leslie and Dolly Borris survive him.

MARTHA SWIFT
of Elk Grove Village

A funeral service for Martha H. Swift of Elk Grove Village (nee Newberg), 94, was held yesterday (Wednesday), at Grove Memorial Chapel. Visitation was held at the same location the day before. She was born in Chicago. She passed away Friday, Nov. 9 at Lexington Health Care. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her children, Sandra J. (Ben) Kischner, Linda M., and Thomas S. (Carol); grandchildren, Julie, Lori, Randy, Jill, Lynn, Samantha, and Tom; great grandchildren, Rebecca, Kristen, Christine, Ian, Alec and Brayden. Mrs. Swift was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Interment was private. Memorial contributions may be made to Christus Victor Lutheran Church.

PAULA WACKMAN
of Park Ridge

A visitation for Paula M. Wackman (nee Bertsch), 56, will take place tomorrow (Thursday), Nov. 15, from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Ryan-Parke Funeral Home in Park Ridge. The interment is private. She died on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Lutheran General Hospital.

JENE W. BELL
of Rolling Meadows

A funeral service for Jene W. Bell, 73, of Rolling Meadows was held Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Meadows Funeral Home. Visitation was held prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Bell was born on Dec. 30, 1933 in Ottawa, Ill. He worked as an AT&T; installer for many years and was a member of the Bell Pioneers. He passed away on Nov. 3, 2007 at Manor Care of Rolling Meadows. He is preceded in death by his siblings Robert Paul, Jack, William, Hope, Rosemarie and Buddy Bell, Lucille Corrie and Delores Towne. Mr. Bell is survived by his wife Delores, children Jene W. Jr. (Kathy), Thomas L. (Cathy) and Jeffrey B. (Lisa) Bell, grandchildren Andy (Jeannette), Brett, Chessey, Bryan and Emily Bell, great-grandchildren Abbigail and Nicholas Bell and siblings Sheila (Edward) Haage, Howard (Lisa) and Kenneth (Rhitta) Bell.

PATRICIA M. GALASSI
of Niles

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 29 for Patricia M. Galassi at St. John Brebeuf Church and Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, both in Niles, with interment at St. Adalbert cemetery. A homemaker, Galassi was born in Chicago in 1945 and died at her home on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007. She is survived by her husband Giancarlo Galassi, father Mitchell Grzybowski, daughter Michele Beymer, son Gian (Amy) Galassi and grandchildren Jamie, Ryan and Luka. She was preceded in death by her mother Loretta (nee Gloembiewski) Grzybowski.
