MARGARET LIPKIE
Formerly of Rolling Meadows

A funeral service for Margaret Lipkie (nee Forrester), 66, took place Monday, Dec. 17, at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Interment was at Memory Gardens cemetery in Arlington Heights. Visitation was Sunday, Dec. 16 at the funeral home. Mrs. Lipkie was born in Quincy, Ill. on Aug. 11, 1941. She worked for many years as an executive secretary. She died at Alden Terrace of McHenry on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2007. Her husband, Frank Post, preceded her in death. Her husband Richard Lipkie, her children Steven (Nora) and Kevin Lauterburg and Karen (Rob) Schroeder; her grandchildren Ryan and Katie Schroeder and Taylor and Shelby Lauterburg; and her sister Sandra Malkowski survive her. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Lee Turner ALS Foundation, 5550 W. Touhy Ave. Ste. 302, Skokie, Ill. 60077 are appreciated.

ROSE LOEWE
Formerly of Des Plaines

Rose E. Loewe, 86, died on Saturday, Dec. 8, at Sunrise Assisted Living of Crystal Lake. Arrangements were made by the Cremation Society of Illinois. Services were private.

JOHN GEORGE MAHERAS
WWII Veteran, US Army of Des Plaines

Funeral services for Des Plaines resident John George Maheras, World War II veteran, will be held today (Wednesday), Dec. 19, at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 2350 Dempster St., Des Plaines, beginning with visitation at 10:30 a.m., services at 11:15 and interment at Elmwood cemetery. Mr. Maheras was the husband of Frieda (nee Schmidt), father of Diane (Javad) Moltaji, Russell (Janet) Maheras, Joseph Maheras, Helen (James) Rarick and John Jr. (Jennifer) Maheras, grandfather of 9. Brother of the late Angelo (the late Jane) Maheras and the late Helen Maheras. Uncle of George Maheras, Cheryl (Ed) Marcyn and Lisa (Kevin) Monaghan. "He was a very wonderful man. A very caring and loving man, " said Russell Maheras, John's eldest son. "He loved movies and had gone to them since he was in his 20's. A real film fan. I took him occassionally to see newer films. "He loved the Sox. Last year he went on the field, had a ball, signed and met Minnie Minoso, " his son recalled. Donations to the Des Plaines Historical Society, 789 Pearson, Des Plaines, IL 60016 are appreciated. The family asks to omit flowers. Arrangements made by John G. GENE MURPHY
WWII veteran of Park Ridge

A funeral service for Gene C. Murphy, 85, took place Monday, Dec. 10, at St. Paul of the Cross Church. Mr. Murphy was employed in the Chicago area automobile industry from the 1950s to the late 1980s. He has lived in Park Ridge since 1961. He was also a World War II Army veteran, having served in Central Europe.

ANNA OKONEK
of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Anna Okonek, 83, took place Monday, Dec. 17, at Our Lady of Ransom Church. Mrs. Okonek died on Thursday, Dec. 13, at Lutheran General Hospital. She was born on July 27, 1924. She was a homemaker.

MARY I. PABICH
Maine West Cafeteria Worker

A funeral service for Mary I. Pabich, of Des Plaines, a former employee of Maine West High School, will be held tomorrow (Thursday), at 11 a.m. at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines. Burial will follow in St. Adalbert cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. today (Wednesday). She died Dec. 15 in Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. She was a cafeteria worker at Maine West High School in Des Plaines. Widow of the late Harold Pabich, she is survived by children Jeffrey (Cathy), Joanne (Butch) Jones, James, and Jane (John Struck) Pabich; and six grandchildren.

OLIVE ROSE RILEY
Nurse from Des Plaines

A funeral service for Olive Rose Riley (nee Walt), 80, took place Tuesday, Dec. 18, at G.L. Hills Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Interment was at St. John cemetery in Arlington Heights. Visitation was Monday, Dec. 17 at the funeral home. Mrs. Riley was born on Jan. 17, 1927. She was a member of the Christ Church Women's Guild and the Frisbee Senior Center in Des Plaines, and worked as a registered nurse for more than 30 years. She volunteered for the American Cancer Society, Clearbrook, Maine Township, and many other organizations. She died on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007. Her husband of 58 years, Thomas R. Riley Sr., preceded her in death. Her children Tom (Nancy) Riley Jr., Marge Riley, Kenneth (Harold Ellis) Riley, and Barbara (Evan) Woodhouse; her siblings Bonnie Ahrens, Marge (late Joe) Brodnan, and Pat Kolle; her grandchildren Julie (Rob) Breeden, Cheryl (Michael) Hutchinson, Tom Riley, Carrie and Cordell Woodhouse, and Nicole Woodhouse; and her great-grandchildren Mason and Hannah Hutchinson, Riley Kay Breeden, Emily, and Spiro survive her. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Christ Church or Frisbee Senior Center are appreciated.

SHANNON SCHNEIDER
of Arlington Heights

A funeral service for Shannon M. Schneider (nee Moore), 74, took place Friday, Dec. 14 at the Meadows Funeral Home. Formerly of Niles, Mrs. Schneider died on Monday, Dec. 10 at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights. She was born on July 23, 1933 in Chicago. She had worked for Sears Roebuck as a secretary for over 25 years.

EDWARD A. SKINNER
of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Edward A. Skinner, 61, of Des Plaines was held on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at Oehler Funeral Home. Visitation was held on Monday, Dec. 17 at the funeral home. Interment was at Memory Gardens cemetery. Mr. Skinner was born on Sept. 5, 1946 in Chicago. He worked for Contour Saws in Des Plaines for 33 years. He passed away on Dec. 13 at Resurrection Hospital. Mr. Skinner is survived by his wife Patricia, son William (Kathleen), daughter Tina (Charles) Lee, grandchildren Brenna and Liam Skinner, Justin Goldsmith and Anton Anthony Drainer and sister Sharon Skinner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Rainbow Hospice.

MILDRED E. SMITH
of Niles

A funeral service for Mildred E. Smith, 98, took place on Monday, Dec. 17, at St. Benedict Home. Interment was at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation was on Saturday, Dec. 15 at St. Benedict Home. Mrs. Smith was born on Jan. 23, 1909 in Chicago. She was a homemaker and died at St. Benedict Nursing Home on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007. Her husband Benjamin Smith and her grandchildren Jimmy and Michael Reddington and Diane (Ed) Murray preceded her in death. Her children Patricia (James) Reddington, Tom (Julie) Smith, Bill (Ann) Smith, and Terry Smith, and her grandchildren Patti (Dave) Centella, Kathy (Bill) Murrin, Tom (Daria) Reddington, Janet (Mike) Hoffer, Sarah (Steve) Jackson, Tom Smith, Tim (Carin) Smith, and Mara (Jeff) Jost survive her. In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Benedict Home are appreciated.

CLARA ELLEN TAYLOR
of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Clara Ellen Taylor, 79, of Des Plaines, will be held at 11:30 a.m. today (Friday) at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Visitation was held Thursday, Dec. 20, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Acacia Park cemetery. Ms. Taylor was born on Dec. 2, 1928 in Chicago. She worked as an X-ray technician at Veterans Administration Hospital for many years. She passed away on Monday, Dec. 17, 2007 at her home. Ms. Taylor is preceded in death by her parents Henry J., Jr. and Clara F. Corlett, husband Ray C. Taylor, brother Alvin (late Irene) Foerster and sister Elizabeth (late Edward) Zingraf. She is survived by her son Henry (Judy) Taylor, sister Henrietta (late Dennis) Healy and many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions to the Rainbow Hospice, 444 N. Northwest Hwy., Park Ridge, IL 60068.

MARTA E. ZOERINK
of Niles

A funeral service for Marta E. Zoerink, 46, took place on Saturday, Dec. 15 at St. John Brebeuf Church. Interment was at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation was Friday, Dec. 14 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles. Ms. Zoerink was born on Nov. 13, 1963 in El Salvador. She was an administrative assistant for the El Salvador Consulate. She died at home on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007. Her parents, Rigoberto and Ana (nee Valldeperas Hernandez), preceded her in death. Her children Nicole (Jonathan) Salas, Jonny Zoerink, Robert Zoerink, and Ana Zoerink; her grandchildren Trinity and Abby; and her siblings Anita, Ligia, Silvia, Rigo, and Carlos Zoerink survive her.

REBA ANDERSON
of Arlington Heights

A funeral service for Reba Joan Anderson (nee Yeoman), 83, took place Saturday, Jan. 26, at 1st United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights. Mrs. Anderson died on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Northwest Community Hospital. She was born on July 9, 1924, in Frankfort, IN. She had formerly lived in Mt. Prospect.

MARTIN ARGALL
of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Martin J. Argall of Des Plaines, 91, was held Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Park Ridge. Visitation was held the day before at G. L. Hills Funeral Home in Des Plaines. He was born on Sept. 6, 1916. He passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23. He was a life member of Park Ridge Lodge AF and AM 998, 20-year member of the 33d deg. Scottish Rite Mason, 20-year member of Medinah Shrine Temple and member of Des Plaines Elks 1526. He was also a 70-year member of American Guild of Organists, an organist for over 50 years for Masonic Lodges, a 12-year volunteer at Shriners Hospital for Children and an organist for Holy Trinity Lutheran Church for 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; children, Elizabeth (Dr. Philip) Stone and Loren (Antonia) Argall; grandchildren, Mitchell, Nathan and Douglas, and Amy Liberio; and brother, Gordon (Christine). Interment was held at Acacia Park cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Shriners Hospital for Children or St. Luke's Youth Program are appreciated.

FRED BERRESHELM
of Niles

A funeral service for Fred W. Berreshelm, 79, took place Friday, Jan. 25, at St. Isaac Jogues Church in Niles. Mr. Berreshelm died on Monday, Jan. 21, at Resurrection Medical Center. He was a member of the Niles Police Dept. for 40 years, and also a veteran.

BERNARD WENDELL BISHOP
Adored husband and father

A Mass of Christian burial for Bernard Wendell Bishop, 69, of Rolling Meadows, took place on Monday, Jan. 28, at St. Colette's Catholic Church. Interment was at St. Michael the Archangel cemetery in Palatine. Visitation was on Sunday, Jan. 27 at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Mr. Bishop was born on Mar. 31, 1938 in Joliet. He attended the University of Illinois Champaign and the Kellogg School of Business. He founded Data Device and Electronic Office Centers of America (Amerisystems). He died on Jan. 23, 2008 after a long fight with leukemia. His wife of 46 years, Judith Elliott Bishop; his daughters Dr. Holly (David Josephs) Bishop, Dr. Amy (Dave) Kewin, Kerry (Jonathan) Fuller, Megan (Morry Gaan) Bishop, and Dr. Amanda (Dr. Lucas Wendel) Bishop; his sister Sue (Don) Robertson; his grandchildren Gabrielle Luurs, Madison Kewin, Benjamin Kewin, Andrew Kewin, Delaney Kewin, and Rory Gaan; his nieces and nephews Bill Ewan, Rick Ewan, Dan Ewan, Chris Ewan, Heather DaSilva, and Scot Robertson; and his brother-in-law Richard Ewan survive him. In lieu of flowers, contributions, particularly donations of blood, to LifeSource are appreciated. Mr. Bishop required large amounts of blood products and lived an extra year through the generosity of anonymous blood donors. His family wishes to give another family the extra joy and love they were able to receive.

of Elk Grove Village

A funeral service for Stephanie Buczko (nee Piska) of Elk Grove Village, was held Monday, Jan. 28, at St. Matthew Church. Visitation was the day before at Grove Memorial Chapel in Arlington Heights. Interment was held at Resurrection cemetery. She is survived by her children, Shirley (Don) Cencula, Richard (the late Marlene), Carol Wagner, Sandra (Norman) Gascoyne and Kenneth (Denise); 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Buczko was preceded in death by her husband, Bruno.

EUGENE CHOVANEC
Naval Veteran of Elk Grove Village

A funeral service for Eugene S. Chovanec of Elk Grove Village, 76, was held Saturday, Jan. 26, at Queen of the Rosary Church. Visitation took place at Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village. He was a veteran in the U.S. Navy during the Korean-Conflict. He is survived by his wife, Clara T. (nee Longo); children, Donna "D.J." (Richard) Dose, Mark, and Scott; granddaughter, Caitlin Dose; and sister, Barbara J. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
