Of Rolling Meadows

A funeral service for Meryle D. Sadler, 76, of Rolling Meadows will be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Mar. 29 at Meadows Funeral Home. Visitation will take place Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Mr. Sadler was born on Feb. 24, 1931 in Columbus, Kansas. He worked as a pipe fitter for many years and was a member of Pipe Fitters Local 501. He died on Mar. 24, 2007 at his home. Mr. Sadler is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis, daughter Christine Abbate and brother Marvin Sadler. He is survived by his children Mark (Blanca) and Susan (Wue) Cho, grandchildren, and brothers.

SYLVIA C. SCHREIMAN
of Des Plaines

Funeral services for Sylvia C. Schreiman, 87, of Des Plaines took place Friday at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home and St. Thecla Church. Interment at St. Adalbert cemetery. Ms. Schreiman was born Feb. 17, 1920 in Chicago. The medical stenographer passed away at her home on Tuesday, Mar. 20. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Joseph and Anne nee Wozniak Schreiman. She is survived by her brother Walter (Lillian) Schreiman, her niece and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In lieu of flowers masses or donations to your favorite charity appreciated.

EARL STIGGER
Formerly of Arlington Heights

A funeral service for Earl K. Stigger of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Arlington Heights, 86, was held Saturday, Mar. 17 at Memory Gardens cemetery. Mr. Stigger was born on June 12, 1920. He died Mar. 11. He resided in Arlington Heights from 1957-1976 and was active in Lions International and presided over the Arlington Heights Club from 1974-1975. He is survived by his wife Vallare; children Carol, Bob and Alice; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; step-sons Greg, David and Chris Rupp and their five children. Mr. Stigger was preceded in death by his brother Clifford and sister Dorothy Craft.

MARDELL SWANSON
Of Palatine

A private funeral service was held for Mardell J. Swanson of Palatine, 89. Mrs. Swanson was born on Oct. 6, 1917 in Chicago. She died at her home Mar. 17. She is survived by her children Dr. Ronald F. (Randi), Dr. Roger T. (Shirley), Paul, Susan M. Reith, Dr. Donald C.; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Cindy . Mrs. Swanson was preceded in death by her husband Donald F. and son Roy E.

JAMES WENLE
Of Des Plaines

A funeral service for James S. Wenle, 91, took place on Monday, Mar. 19, at the Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Mr. Wenle was born on Oct. 14, 1915, in Rochelle, Illinois. He died on Friday, Mar. 16, at Lee Manor in Des Plaines. For 70 years, Mr. Wenle was a musician. He was member of the American Professional Orchestra Leaders and Chicago Federation of Musicians. During World War II, as a member of Special Services, he met Bob Hope, Barbara Eden and other entertainers. He was also owner of Wenle Landscaping in Des Plaines and Addison for 45 years. Mr. Wenle was survived by his wife Francis Wenle, children Kathleen and Kimberly (Willard) Seib, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Alfred Smith.

LA VERGNE ANGSTEN
Of Des Plaines

A funeral service for La Vergne L. "Bernie" Angsten of Des Plaines, formerly of Park Ridge, 91, was held Friday Mar. 9 at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home. Visitation took place the day before. Mrs. Angsten was born in Chicago on Dec. 27, 1915. She died Saturday, Mar. 3. She was a member of Lodge 979 Order of Eastern Star where she was a former secretary. She was also a member of the Park Ridge Fire Department Womens Auxillary. She is survived in death by her children Allen (Elaine) and Linnea (Jerry) Qualter, grandchildren Cheryl (Bob) Bacigalupo and Lori (Tony) Madl, six great grandchildren and cousins George Nelson and Audrey Ensor. She was preceded in death by her husband Aloysius P. Entombment was held at Memory Gardens cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Church, 1492 Henry Ave., Des Plaines, IL 60016.

GRACITA BENWAY
Of Rolling Meadows

A funeral service for Gracita F. Benway (nee Gomez) of Rolling Meadows, 64, was held at St. Colette Church. Visitation was held at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Mrs. Benway was born on Mar. 31, 1942 in the Phillippines. She died Monday, Mar. 12 at Manor Care of Arlington Heights. She worked as a certified nursing assistant at Northwest Community Hospital for over 15 years. She is survived by her husband Ralph, children Ralph B (Darlene), John S. (Beverley) and Dan J. (Karen), eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, siblings Corazon Primo, Adoracion Hagong, Rita Alvero, Agnes Gomez, Lucita Gomez-Ford, Jose, Virgilio and Juanito Gomez. Mrs. Benway was preceded in death by her father Engracion and mother Adoracion Gomez. Interment will be held at All Saints cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Society are appreciated.

JOSEPH BLASZYNSKI
Of Arlington Heights

A funeral service for Joseph H. Blaszynski of Arlington Heights, 83, was held at St. Thomas of Villanova. Visitation was held the at Matz Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. The interment was held at St. Adalbert cemetery. Mr. Blaszynski was born on Feb. 17, 1924 in Chicago. He worked at Cub Foods for 13 years as a cashier after retirement. He died Saturday, Mar. 10. He is survived by his wife Jeanette (nee Lipinski), siblings Irv (Lucille) and Francine (late Ted) Zurkowski, sister-in-law Jerona (late Ted) Rassin and uncle of many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Grace I. Carnesciali (nee La Bello) of Rolling Meadows, 80, was held at Willow Creek Community Church in Barrington. Visitation was held at the Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Mrs. Carnesciali was born on Mar. 27, 1926 in Elmwood Park. She died at her home Mar. 18. She is survived by her children Linda (late Robert) Cox, Lorena (Joseph) Nowak, Diana (Julius) Mancini; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; siblings Carmen (Lenore) and Jerry (Susan) La Bello; also many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Carnesciali was preceded in death by her husband Tullio D.; daughter Donna (Joseph) Sorth; sister Madlynn (Edward) Eiben; and parents Jerome and Frances. The interment was held at St. Michael cemetery in Palatine. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Light House For The Blind.

CHRISTOPHER CARTER
of Arlington Hts.

A funeral service for Christopher Scott Carter took place Friday, Mar. 16 at the Glueckert Funeral Home. Visitation was the previous day. Interment private. Mr. Carter was born July 24, 1970 in Champaign, Ill. He died Tuesday, Mar. 13, 2007. He is survived by his parents, Terence George and Eileen (nee Dobosz) Carter and his half brother Mark Jeffrey Carter. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Alexian Center for Mental Health, 3350 Salt Creek Ln., Suite 114, Arlington Hts., Ill.

IRENE M. CZERWINSKI
Formerly of Park Ridge

A funeral service for Irene M. Czerwinski, 93, formerly of Park Ridge, was held on Friday, Mar. 9 at All Saints Polish National Catholic cemetery in Chicago. Ms. Czerwinski passed away on Feb. 25, 2007 in Benicia, Cal. She is survived by her son Gary Czerwinski and several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements were made by Ryan-Parke Funeral Home.

DENNIS DETTLOFF
Of Hoffman Estates

A funeral service for Dennis R. Dettloff of Hoffman Estates, 60, was held at Chapel to Holy Family Church Visitation was held at the Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. The interment will be held at St. Michael cemetery in Palatine. Mr. Dettloff was born on Nov. 21, 1946 in Chicago. He died Saturday, Mar. 10 at St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates. He had worked as a sheet metal worker for Cleats Manufacturing for over 45 years. He is survived by his wife Shirley (nee Scarlate), children Denise Lazar, Heather, Melissa and Richard, grandchildren Angelina, Andrew and Marissa Lazar, siblings Janice (Peter) Infelise and Paula Maher. Mr. Dettloff was preceded in death by his sister Darlene.

WILLIAM DILLON
of Rolling Meadows

A funeral service for William Dillon, 76, of Rolling Meadows was held Saturday, Mar. 17 following memorial visitation at noon at the Meadows Funeral home in Rolling Meadows. Mr. Dillon was born June 27, 1930 in Chicago. He worked for Oscar Meyer as an office clerk for many years. He passed away Tuesday, Mar. 13 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Hts. Mr. Dillon is survived by his wife, Molly (nee Monroe) Dillon, his children Jerry Dillon, Debbie Franklin, Pammy Adams, Michael Adams, and William J. Adams and his grandchildren Nathan Grandt, Joshua Dillon, and his brother Robert (Barbara) Dillon.

DONALD GRUNER
Of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Donald J. Gruner, 76, will take place Friday, Mar. 23, 1 p.m., at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Mr. Gruner was born on February, 1, 1931, in Park Ridge. He died on Saturday, Mar. 18, at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. He worked as a computer programmer for many years, and loved to travel, especially to Disney World. Mr. Gruner was survived by his wife Marilyn (nee Dupke), children Richard (Diane) and Jeffrey (Kelly) Gruner, grandchildren Krista (John) McNamara, and Erika and Jay Gruner, brother Robert (Lorraine) Gruner, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Lorraine (Charles) Gerber and brother John (Rosamond) Gruner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church in Des Plaines are appreciated.

MARY GUZAK
Of Arlington Heights

A funeral service for Mary Ryan Guzak (nee Ryan) of Arlington Heights, 70, was held Tuesday, Mar. 13, at St. Edna Catholic Church. Visitation was held the day before at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd. in Arlington Heights. Mrs. Guzak was born on Feb. 28, 1937 in Chicago. She died Friday, Mar. 9 in Arlington Heights. Mrs. Guzak provided service to her community and her parish, St. Edna Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, a Minister of Care and a Bereavement Minister. She was also a founding member of the Berkley Square Bridge Club. She is survived by her husband John, children John Michael (Kathy), James Robert (Colleen, Mary Eileen (Jim) Rickert, Jeffrey Patrick (Kelly) and Patricia Marie (Paul) Seiden, grandchildren John Ryan, Kristen, Maggie, Ashley, James. Chelsea, Daniel, Ryan, Christopher and Jason, brothers Robert and Michael (Vicki) Ryan. Mrs. Guzak was preceded in death by her mother Mary C. Ryan and sister-in-law Lorrie Ryan. The interment was held at St. Michael the Archangel cemetery in Palatine. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Arthritis Foundation, 29 E. Madison, Suite 500, Chicago, IL 60602.

JENNIE HOPPE
Formerly Of Elk Grove Village

A memorial service for Jennie T. Hoppe (nee Maciejewski) of Chandler, AZ, formerly of Elk Grove Village, 92, was held Saturday, Mar. 17, at Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village. The interment was held at St. Michael cemetery in Palatine. Mrs. Hoppe died at Gilbert Mercy Hospital in Gilbert, AZ Feb. 3. Mrs. Hoppe worked for 20 years at the Niehoff Automotive Parts Co. of Chicago. She is survived by her daughter Rose Marie Werfel; grandchildren Gregory (Valerie), Timothy (Pam) and Christopher Werfel; great grandchildren Nicole, Haley, Connor, Peyton, Lauren, Emily and Rebecca Werfel. Mrs. Hoppe was preceded in death by her husband Henry; father Thomas and mother Julia (nee Gorski) Maciejewski; siblings Walter, Edward, Dorothy Mackey and Helen Long.

Ms. Krzesica is preceded in death by her husband Walter. She is survived by her children Marlene (Eugene) Banaszak and Shirley (Mciahel) Tetzlaff, grandchildren Michael and James and sister Sophie Dyrier. ARTHUR J. LOPATKA SR.
Former MLB pitcher

A funeral service for Arthur J. Lopatka Sr., 87, of Elk Grove Village, formerly of Des Plaines, was held Wednesday, Mar. 14 at Queen of the Rosary Church. Visitation was held on Tuesday, Mar. 14 at Grove Memorial Chapel. Interment was at Queen of Heaven cemetery. Mr. Lopatka was born in Chicago. After graduating from the University of Chicago, Lopatka pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball. He was also a former manager of the Chicago Hornets football team and a retired auto salesman. He passed away on Mar. 10 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his wife Irene V., parents Walter and Lillian and brothers Thaddeus (Elaine) and Frederich (late Margaret) Lopatka. Mr. Lopatka is survived by his wife Annette (McMahon), children Arthur J. Jr. (Karen), Mark T. (Denise) and Mara C. (Phil) McDermot, step-children Linda (John) Meilinger and Mary (Jeff) Parkhurst and grandchildren Peter, Adam, Allison, Michael, Dan, In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or Queen of the Rosary Church.

RICHARD F. LYNCH
Of Arlington Hts.

Richard F. Lynch, formerly of Elk Grove Village died Tuesday, March 13 in Arlington Hts. Born on May 27, 1933 in Chicago to John Joseph and Zelda Marie Lynch, he taught for 37 years at Lane Tech High School in Chicago. Mr. Lynch is survived by his wife, Joan Helen (nee Ekstrom) Lynch, whom he married on Aug. 10, 1957 in Park Ridge; his children, Kathleen (Joseph) Jurich of Keller, TX, Mary Therese (Brian) McGuire of Arlington Hts., Laura (Kevin) Lynk of Arlington Hts., Susan (Gary) Steiger of Bloomingdale, Richard (Vicki) Lynch of Naperville and Colleen Lynch of Arlington Hts.; grandchildren, Jon, Nicole and David Jurich, Megan, Shannon and Breanna McGuire, Brandon and Samantha Lynk, Brittany, Kyle and Morgan Steiger and Mackenzie Lynch; and his siblings, Patricia (William) Kittridge, Miles (Joan) Lynch and Barbara (William) Lohmeier. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Robert Lynch, John (Eileen) Lynch and Mary Jane (John) Coleman. Visitation was on March 15 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Hts. Rd., (four blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Hts. Mass was at Our Lady of the Wayside Church in Arlington Hts. Interment at St. Michael the Archangel cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the National Kidney Foundation, 215 W. Illinois, Suite 1C, Chicago, IL 60610.

DIANE MENNES
Of Palatine

A funeral service for Diane Victoria Mennes (nee Parrillo) of Palatine, 56, will be held Saturday, Mar. 24, 4 p.m. at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home in Palatine. Visitation will be the same day at 2 p.m. at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home. Interment is private. Mrs. Mennes was born on Mar. 11, 1951 in Englewood, Ca. She died at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Mar. 13. She was a great Chicago sports fan and was very fond of cats. She is survived by her husband Jerry K. Sr.; her son Jerome (Gigi); and her brothers Mike (Mary) and Mark Parrillo. Mrs. Mennes was preceded in death by her parents Christ T. and Maybell and brother Rick.
