Richard B. Laibly, Sr., of Des Plaines, formerly of Park Ridge, longtime Compilation Manager for Sears Roebuck Catalogue, passed away peacefully January 9, 2009.
Cherished husband of 60 years Patricia (nee Wilson). Beloved father of Richard B., Jr.; Arthur W. (Aurora); and Thomas B. Laibly.
Proud grandfather of Richard J. and Austin; great-grandfather of Brayton.
Brother of Arthur A. (Joan) and the later Berto­let. Son of the late Arthur C. and Imogene.
Memorial service Satur­day, Feb. 7, 11 a.m. at St. Martin Episcopal Church, 1095 Thacker/Dempster, Des Plaines, IL.

Yolanda J. Leone
Of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Yolanda J. Leone, 78, took place Monday, Jan. 26 at St. John Brebeuf Church. Interment was at Mt. Carmel cemetery. Visitation preceded the service at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home in Niles. She was born on Nov. 6, 1930. She died on Jan. 22, 2009 at Holy Family Health Center. Her father Michele Leone preceded her in death. Her mother Rose Marie Brigilio survives her.

Anthony G. Leva
Of Wonder Lake

A memorial Mass for Anthony G. Leva, 67, took place Monday, Jan. 26 at St. Paul of the Cross Church in Park Ridge. Interment was private. Visitation was Sunday, Jan. 25 at G.L. Hills Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Mr. Leva was born on Jan. 28, 1941 in Chicago. He died on Jan. 22, 2009. His wife Nancy R. (nee Miller) and his children Kelli (Kenneth P.) Such and Kimberley (Bill) Harisis survive him.

Allan J. Madoch
Des Plainesite

A funeral service for Allan J. Madoch, 86, of Des Plaines, was held Friday, Jan. 23 in Oehler Funeral Home Chapel, 2099 Miner St. Burial followed in Memory Gardens cemetery, Arlington Hts. A native of Chicago, he died Jan. 21 in Lutheran General Hospital. Surviving are his widow, Ruth (nee Wessel); children Dr. Terry (Jeanne) Madoch, and Craig (Pitsa); grandchildren Lara (Chad) Martin, Shannon (Jake) Ballinger, Kelly (David) Braun, and Jason and Kristen Madoch; and great-grand-daughter Danielle Olivia Ballinger.

John J. Nimrod
Former State Senator

John J. Nimrod, former Illinois state senator, solar power advocate, and leader in Assyrian refugee organizations, died Jan. 4 in Glenbrook Hospital, Glenview. He was 86 years old. A protégé of former Gov. Richard Ogilvie, he was administrative assistant to Ogilvie when the latter was Cook County Board president. He later was assistant director of Ogilvie's successful 1968 campaign for governor. He was a Republican committeeman and Niles Township supervisor, and was elected to the Illinois Senate in 1972, serving until 1982. He served the 4th district, which included Des Plaines, Park Ridge, Rosemont, and Niles. While a senator, he sponsored bills to change the state's workers compensation rules, revise the state mental health code, and encourage the use of solar power. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University after serving in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II and later in the Korean War. He was a former president of the Assyrian Universal Alliance Foundation. He is survived by his widow, Dorothy: children John, Joseph, Lizbeth, and Naomi Dickinson; six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. His funeral was private. A memorial service is being planned.

Lee T. Purcell
Of Park Ridge

A funeral Mass for Lee T. Purcell, 78, took place Saturday, Jan. 17, at Mary, Seat of Wisdom Church. Interment was at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation was Friday, Jan. 16, at Cooney Funeral Home in Park Ridge. Mr. Purcell died on Jan. 13, 2009. His wife Darlene (nee Maierhofer) and his children Lee Ann, Jeff (Marilyn), Jenny (John) Gratys, Tony (Sonia), Teri, and Lisa (Michael) White survive him.

John M. Rzeczkowski
Of Des Plaines

A memorial service for John M. Rzeczkowski, 85, of Des Plaines will be held Saturday, Jan. 31, at Oehler Funeral Home. Visitation took place prior to the service. Interment was held privately. Mr. Rzeczkowski was born July 7, 1923 in Chicago. He passed away on Jan. 16, 2009 in Des Plaines. He is survived by wife Dorothy, daughters Mary Catherine (Douglas) Orrin and Susan (Brian) Lutz, grandchildren Alisa, Ann, Natalie and Emily and many nieces and nephews.

Deborah S. Smith
Formerly of Palatine

A funeral service for Deborah S. Smith, 53, formerly of Palatine, was held Saturday, Jan. 24, at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home. Visitation took place on Friday, Jan. 23, at the funeral home. Interment was at Evergreen cemetery in Barrington. Ms. Smith was born March 20, 1955 in Chicago. She passed away on Monday, Jan. 19, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. She is survived by many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by parents Edward and Rose Louise Smith.

William D. Sykora
Of Des Plaines

A funeral service for William D. Sykora, 79, of Des Plaines, was held Friday, Jan. 23 at G.L. Hills Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens cemetery in Arlington Heights. Mr. Sykora was born Oct. 20, 1929 in Chicago. He passed away on Monday, Jan. 19, 2009 in Park Ridge. He is survived by wife Betty L., children Sherry (Richard) Scheffers, Scott (Janice) Sykora and Suzanne (Patrick) Lowry and grandchildren Garrett and Cameron Sykora. He is preceded in death by brothers Anthony and George.

Millicent Tassone
Of Arlington Heights

A funeral Mass for Millicent Tassone (nee Yovetich), 90, took place Monday, Jan. 26 at St. Cecilia Church in Mt. Prospect. Interment was at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation was Sunday, Jan. 25 at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home in Arlington Heights. Mrs. Tassone was born on Jan. 13, 1919 in Kansas City, Kan. She died on Jan. 22, 2009 at Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Heights. Her husband Clifford preceded her in death. Her children Nick Tassone, Mary (late Domenic) Bosi, and Rosemarie Manzella survive her.

Robert A. Adamczyk
Of Arlington Heights

Prayers and a funeral mass for Robert A. Adamczyk, 77, were held Monday, Feb. 2 at Glueckert Funeral Home and Our Lady of the Wayside Church, Arlington Heights. Interment took place in Memory Gardens, Arlington Heights. Mr. Adamczyk was born June 13, 1931 in Chicago to Edward and Anastasia (nee Brenowski) Adamczyk. He passed away on Jan. 29, 2009, in Arlington Heights. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cecilia (nee Bauer); his children, Robert (the late Diane), Ron (Jessica), Janis (Dave) Swanson, and grandchildren Robert Jr. and Rachel Adamczyk and David and Kendall Swanson. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Edward and sister Annette Dvorak.

Nick Bastounes
Store Owner

A funeral service for Nick Bastounes, 79, a retired produce store owner and Des Plainesite for 47 years, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (today) in St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 2350 E. Dempster, Des Plaines. Burial will follow in Elmwood cemetery, River Grove. A native of Chicago, he died Jan. 29. He was the owner of Capital Wholesale Produce in Chicago for 30 years until 1997. Surviving are his widow, Stella (nee Gianoulis); children Niki Ann (Fred) Lussow, Dean (JoAnn), Cindy (the late Andy) Wierzba, and Tom (Lisa); and seven grandchildren, Nick and Fred Lussow, and Nick, Elliott, Estelle, Sophia, and Irene Bastounes.

Herbert Budig
Of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Herbert Budig, 76, took place Saturday, Jan. 31, at St. Emily Church. Entombment was at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Visitation was Friday, Jan. 30, at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. Mr. Budig was born on May 28, 1932 in Chicago. He died on Jan. 27, 2009 at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago. His wife Frances Budig (nee Luif) and his children Bill (Carol) Budig, Bob (Danielle) Budig, Frank (Audrey) Budig, and Carolyn (Ed) Lipowski survive him.

Rollie C. Burke
Of Niles

A funeral service for Rollie C. Burke, 80, of Niles, was held privately. Mr. Burke was born August 14, 1928 in Millen, Georgia. He passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009 at Bethany Terrace Nursing Home. He is survived by wife Eileen and sons Rollie Jr. (Cathy) and Roger (Hilda).

Helen P. Charnas
101 Years Old

Visitation and services for Helen P. Charnas, 101, were held Monday, Feb. 2 at Severino's River Woods Funeral Chapels in Des Plaines. Interment took place at Masonic and Oddfellows cemetery in Benton, Ill. Ms. Charnas was born Jan. 14, 1908 in Benton and died Jan. 27 in the Aldens of Des Plaines nursing facility. She and her late husband Constantine were long-time residents of Evergreen Park and founded and operated G.B. Charnas Co., an industrial painting and steel company. She was preceded in death by her older sister Gilda and younger sister Tilda. She is survided by a nephew, great-nephew and great-great nephews, and several nieces.

Audrey W. Daemicke
Of Glenview

A funeral service and interment for Audrey W. Daemicke (nee West), 81, were private. Her husband Warren B. Daemicke preceded her in death. Her children Joyce D. (Burt) Rodgers and Dale W. (Songju) Daemicke survive her. Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home in Palatine made funeral arrangements.

Dr. John W. Davis
Dentist in DP for 40 Years

A memorial service will be held for Dr. John W. Davis, on Saturday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. at First Congregational Church, 766 Graceland Ave., Des Plaines. Dr. Davis was born July 5, 1918 in Arena, Wisconsin. He lived in Waukegan and Edison Park. He was drafted into the Army in 1941 and assigned to the Army Medical Corps, 56th Evacuation Hospital. He was enlisted for two years, went to officers school and was commissioned 2d lieutenant. Dr. Davis set up practice in Des Plaines and worked for 50 years in the community. He and Dr. Arthur Rothenberg, M.D., designed and contracted for the building of the Des Plaines Medical Arts Building. Dr. Davis was married to Juanita Genter. She was a teacher in the Park Ridge school system. They have one son, Dr. William G. Davis, who currently practices dentistry in the Medical Arts Building. He is married with two children. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Congregational Church, Park Ridge VFW or the Des Plaines American Legion are appreciated. Funeral care provided by G.L. Hills Funeral Home in Des Plaines.

William Fugate
Of Elk Grove Village

Funeral services for William Fugate were held Saturday, Feb. 1 at Countryside Funeral Home with burial following at Assumption cemetery. Fugate was born on Feb. 6, 1919 and passed away on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009. He was a military veteran. Fugate is survived by his children Diane Bucaro, Linda Mariel, Bill Jr. (Lori), Jane (Gil) Michelotti, Nancy Wildman and Steve (Melanie), 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary A. (nee Modory).

Guillermina Gonzalez
Of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Guillermina Gonzalez, 61, of Des Plaines, was held Tuesday, Feb. 3, at St. Mary Church. Visitation took place Monday, Feb. 2, at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Interment was at All Saints cemetery. Ms. Perez was born Dec. 3, 1947 in Mexico. She and husband Guillermo owned El Mexico Grocery Store in downtown Des Plaines. She passed away on Jan. 29, 2009 in her home. She is survived by husband Guillermo, sons Horacio (Carmina), Alejandro (Ana) and Guillermo Jr., daughters Lilia (Alonso) Ramirez, Angelica and Claudia and grandchildren Viviana, Kyle, Vianey and Karina.
