A funeral service for Mary Harland (nee Kirsch) of Elk Grove Village, 81, was held Wednesday, May 9, at Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village. Visitation was held the day before. Interment was held at St. Michael cemetery in Palatine. Mrs. Harland was born in Istanbul, Turkey. She died Thursday, May 3 in at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. She was a retired 21 year employee of Motorola. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; children, Angela (Timothy) Meikle, Phillip and Gregory; grandchildren, Laura and Jeremy Meikle, Jessica and Nicholas Harland and Ashley Harland.

ROBERT M. HOLMES
Of Park Ridge

A funeral Mass for Robert M. Holmes of Park Ridge, 88, took place Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul of the Cross Church. Visitation was the previous day. Private burial in St. Joseph cemetery. Mr. Holmes was born Apr. 2, 1919. He was a commander for the U.S. Navy. He passed away Saturday, May 5 at Holy Family Health Center in Des Plaines. He is survived by his wife, Marion nee Dunne Holmes, his loving brother Ralph Holmes, his cherished children Mary Pat (David) Bauman, James (Donna) Holmes, Juliette (Robert) Norris and Thomas (Susan) Holmes, his grandchildren Peter Bauman, Robert Bauman, Bridget (Christopher) Johnson, Jennifer Holmes, Jeffrey Holmes, Candice Holmes, and Stephanie Holmes, and his great-grandchildren Owen Johnson and Jeffrey Holmes. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Loyola Academy or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Funeral Arrangements made by Ryan-Parke Funeral Home.

LILLIAN JACOBUCCI
Of Park Ridge

A funeral mass for Lillian Jacobucci, 98, a long-time Park Ridge resident, was celebrated May 12 in St. Zachary Church, Des Plaines. Interment was in All Saints cemetery. Arrangements were made by Cooney Funeral Home, Park Ridge. She died May 9. Widow of the late Charles Jacobucci, she is survived by children Charles B. (Betty), Joan (Jack) Allen, and John (Connie); 10 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren; plus many nieces and nephews.

TED F. JOZWIAK
Of Mt. Prospect

A memorial Mass for Ted F. Jozwiak of Mt. Prospect, 89, will be held Saturday, May 19 at 9 a.m. at St. Raymond Church in Mt. Prospect. Mr. Jozwiak was born Nov. 7, 1917 in Chicago. He was a retired agent for Met Life. He died Monday, May 7 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Naperville. He is preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Jozwiak nee Szymanski, and his sisters, Dorothy Powell and Daniel Jozwiak. He is survived by his nieces, Lynda Fay and Jill Enari, his nephews, Nathan Powell, David Powell, and Tom Purcell, and many great nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements made by Friedrichs Funeral Home.

ALLEN LADENDORF
Of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Allen E. Ladendorf, 63, was held Friday, May 11, at G.L. Hills Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Visitation was held the same day prior to the service. Mr. Ladendorf was born on Sept. 7, 1943 in Chicago. He died Tuesday, May 8 in Chicago. He was a life long resident of Des Plaines. He is survived by his wife, Kit (nee Caminata); sister, Mary (Jim) Seguin; niece, Heather Meyer; and his mother-in-law, Eleanor Caminata. Interment was private. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Des Plaines.

KRISTEN LARSEN
Of Palatine

A funeral service for Kristen Ellen Larsen, 14, took place on Wednesday, May 16, at Community Church of Rolling Meadows. Ms. Larsen was born on Dec. 5, 1992 in Park Ridge. She died on Friday, May 11, at Children's Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was an eighth grade student at Plum Grove Jr. High. Her short life touched so many. Kristen loved gymnastics and was a member of the Palatine Gymnastics Club for the past four years. Ms. Larsen was survived by her parents David and Melissa Larsen, siblings Brian and Lea, grandparents Alan (Sharon) Kadon, Linda (John) Gavins, and Leonard and Susan Larsen, and great grandmother Evelyn Collinet. She was also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Kristen was patient, self-confident and a friend to all she met. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Make-A-Wish Foundation are appreciated.

DONALD A. LYONS
Of Mt. Prospect

A funeral service for Donald A. Lyons, 55, of Mt. Prospect was held yesterday (Tuesday) at Friedrichs Funeral Home. Visitation took place yesterday prior to the service. Mr. Lyons was born on May 10. 1952 in Evanston. He was a social worker at Northwest Community Hospital. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, loved all kinds of music and also enjoyed surfing. He died on Thursday, May 10, 2007. He is preceded in death by his wife Sherry Z. Lyons. Ms. Lyons is survived by his son Donnie A. Lyons III, brother Gerald Lyons and sister Laura (Bill Rappman) Lyons. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Donnie Lyons Fund.

ESTELLE MILLER
Of Park Ridge

A funeral service for Estelle Ona Miller (nee Grod), 94, took place Monday, May 7, at St. Paul of the Cross Church. Mrs. Miller lived in her Park Ridge home for the last 51 years. She was born on Sept. 26, 1912 in Chicago. She died on Thursday, May 3, at the Forest Villa Nursing Home in Niles. She was survived by her children Greg (Sharon) Harper, Lenne P., Patricia A., David L. (Diane) and Karen S., grandchildren Lori, Shawna, Jeffrey and Kristin Harper and Stephanie and Christopher Miller, five great-grandchildren and sister Virginia Profita. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband Leonard P.

ELSIE NEVEL
Formerly of Arlington Heights

A funeral service for Elsie M. Nevel (nee Leseberg), of Lone Rock, Wisc. and formerly of Arlington Heights, 81, was held May 10 at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Mrs. Nevel was born on Apr. 30, 1926 in Arlington Heights. She died Saturday, May 5 at the Schmitt Woodland Hills in Richland Center, Wisc. She is survived by her husband, Dale; daughter, Barbara Ann (James) Jacobsen; granddaughter, Kristina (Greggory) Hoover; great-great grandchildren, Zachary, Elsie and Mason Hoover; sister, Emmy (the late Raymond) Goeddeke; and nephews, Kenny and Dennis Goeddeke. Mrs. Nevel was preceded in death by her first husband, Alan Pingel. Interment will be held at St. John cemetery in Arlington Heights. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

ROBERT O'DONNELL
Of Rolling Meadows

A funeral service for Robert J. O'Donnell of Rolling Meadows, 77, was held Monday, May 14, at St. Theresa Church in Palatine. Visitation was held the day before. Mr. O'Donnell was born on June 17, 1929 in Chicago. He died Tuesday, May 8 at his home. After graduating from the University of Illinois, he served in the navy during the Korean Conflict on the Destroyer U.S.S. Bears (DD654). He then worked in the sales department for Northern Illinois Gas company for 14 years. He and a partner opened Owl Appliance and Heating in Mt. Prospect in 1971. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (nee Giblin); children, Robert K. (Anne), Kathleen and Mary (Ed) Schappert; grandchildren, Ryan, Colleen and Kate O'Donnell, Matt and Jack Schappert; siblings, George and James (Kathleen). Mr. O'Donnell was preceded in death by his brother, Jack. Interment was held at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Clearbrook Incare of Group Homes.

SYLVIA PRYKA
Of Park Ridge

A funeral service for Sylvia Pryka (nee Lewandowski) of Park Ridge, 91, was held Thursday, Apr. 26, at St. Paul of the Cross Church. Visitation was held the day before at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home. Mrs. Pryka was born on Jan. 29, 1916 in Chicago. She died Monday, Apr. 23 at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago. She is survived by her children, Christine (Edward) Uliassi, Alan (Linda) and Mary; grandchildren, Anna (Jason) Friday, Christine and Edward "Ted" Uliassi; siblings, Eleanor Witek, Hillard (Eileen) Lewand, Phyllis (Bill) Romaniuk, Grace (Frank) Breen, Lorraine Tenczar, Raymond Lewandowski and Patricia Thompson; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Pryka was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; and brother, Joseph. Interment was held at Maryhill cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Rainbow Hospice are appreciated.

ANNA SIMONSON
Of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Anna M Simonson (nee Johnson), 100, will take place on Saturday, May 19, 2 p.m., at Oehler Funeral Home, Des Plaines. Mrs. Simonson was born on Jan. 1, 1907 in Sweden. She died on Thursday, May 10, in Glenview. She was survived by her granddaughter Nancy Neetz. She was preceded in death by her husband Gunnar, daughter Dorothy Neetz, and sister Ellen Jullin.

ROBERT TOWNSEND
Of Arlington Heights

A funeral service for Robert E. Townsend, 90, of Arlington Heights, was held private. Mr. Townsend was born Mar. 16, 1917 in Early, Iowa. He was a 50 year resident of Arlington Heights and had worked as a buyer for Montgomery Wards. He died on May 8, 2007 at his home. Mr. Townsend is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Elizabeth, wife Arlene and son Alan. He is survived by his children Robert (Jane), Lynae (Terry) Schuetz and Shelley J, grandchildren Robert T. and Alan C. (Jennifer) Schuetz and Robert P. (Debbie) and Christopher A. (Kelly Sheehan) Townsend, step-grandchildren Eric J. (Marisol) and Kirk A. Disrude, great-grandfather of Taylor M. Townsend, Jarrett P. and Trevor C. Scheutz, Rebecca and Ryan Townsend and step-great grandchildren Arianna and Nichole Disrude. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Faith Lutheran Church, 431 S. MARION R. VANA
Former "Woman of the Year"

Marion R. Vana (nee Cvikota), 82, matriarch of a prominent Des Plaines family and 1994 Catholic Woman of the Year, died May 6 in Park Ridge. A funeral mass for her was celebrated in St. Stephen Church, Des Plaines, on May 9. Burial was in All Saints cemetery. Arrangements were made by Matz Funeral Home, Mt. Prospect A founding parishioner of St. Stephen Church and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society, she was an honorary Marine Raiders wife and was known as the "bestest mom" by members of her large family. Surviving are her husband, Richard T., to whom she was married for 63 years; children Craig (Cindy), Mariann (Paul Sr.) Bilodeau, Tom (Mary Karen), Roy (Barbara), Pam (Tom) Erkel, Tim ( Julie), Elizabeth "Libby" (Daniel) McGuire, Ellen (Joe) Ecker, Christopher, and Charles (Jill); 28 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; a niece; Alyce Martinez; and many nieces and nephews. Memorials are requested to St. Stephen Church, 1267 Everett, Des Plaines, IL 60018.

CAROL WEINER
Of Elk Grove Village

A funeral service for Carol M. Weiner (nee Olsen) of Elk Grove Village, 63, was held Saturday, May 12, at Grove Memorial Chapel. Visitation was held the same day prior to the service. Mrs. Weiner was born in Chicago. She died Wednesday, May 9 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her children, Toby Stokes, David M. and Debra (Joseph) Komar; grandchildren, Nichole and Michael Stokes, and Adam Komar; sister, Joan (Marcus) Botas; and many nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral Mass for Kuni "Connie" Wright nee Griesinger of Park Ridge, 90, took place Wednesday, May 9 at Our Lady of Ransom Church, Niles. Visitation was at the previous day. Interment at St. Joseph cemetery. Connie was born Nov. 2, 1916. She was an active member of the Park Ridge Senior Center. She passed away Tuesday, May 1 at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Connie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norbert L. Wright. She is survived by her beloved children, Norbert (Mary) Wright, MaryAnne (Nick) Marcucci, and Christine (Michael) McCabe, and her dearest grandchildren John Wright, Peter Wright, Katie Marcucci, Nick Marcucci, Christopher McCabe, Molly McCabe, and Megan McCabe. MYRTLE CHRISTOPHER
Of Niles

A funeral service for Myrtle "Chris" Christopher, 95, of Niles, was held on Monday, May 7 at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home. Visitation took place on Sunday, May 6 at the funeral home. Interment was at Maryhill cemetery. Ms. Christopher was born on Aug. 11 1911. She worked as an office manager with a medical company and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She died on May 2, 2007 at Lutheran General Hospital. She is preceded in death by her husband Nicholas James Christopher, parents Albert and Lula (nee Winters) Edmonds, grandchild Alfonso Furlan, one brother and nine sisters. Ms. Christopher is survived by daughters Florence Lu Collins and Betty Furlan Van Kast, grandchildren Bettyann (Peter) Madsen, Nick (Sylvia) Furlan, Ann Margaret (Bob) Van Kast, nine great-grandchildren, and sister Selah (Kenneth) Moore. Memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or the Daughters of the American Revolution.

HARRIET DENNIS
Of Des Plaines

A funeral a service for Harriet C. Dennis (nee Huseby), 87, took place on Monday, May 7, at Cooney Funeral Home in Park Ridge. Mrs. Dennis died at home in Des Plaines on Monday, Apr. 30, due to complications from a stroke. She was a member of the Board of Directors of Northwest Commerce Bank for 12 years and a member of the Transportation Communications Union for over 60 years. Mrs. Dennis is survived by her son Jeffrey L., brother Sherman H. (Doris) Durell, nephew Gregory (Susan) Durell, niece Kay Durell, two great -nephews, two great-nieces, as well as many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband C.L. (Les) Dennis, former International President of the Brotherhood of Railway Airline Clerks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity or the H.C.D. Foundation.

JOSEPH P. FRUZYNA
Long time Elk Grove resident

A funeral mass for Joseph P. Fruzyna, 72, a former long-time resident of Elk Grove Village, was celebrated May 4 in St. Juliam Eymard Chapel. Internment was in St. Adalbert cemetery, Niles. A native of Chicago, he died Apr. 30 in Alexian Brothers Medical Center. Arrangements were by Grove Memorial Chapel, Elk Grove Village. He was a retired mechanic and a 20-year employee of Lawry's Foods and was veteran of U.S. Army military service. He also was a hockey and youth baseball coach in the Elk Grove Park District. Surviving are his widow, Dolores M., (nee Frysh); sons Joseph P. Jr. (Megan), and James P. (Michelle); grandchildren Liam, Erin, Aidan, Declan, Connor, and Abigail; and siblings Lorraine (the late Al) Morris, Frank (Joan), Adeline (the late Charles) Morris, . Rose (the late Wayne) Voss, Mary (the late Jack) Fitzgibbons, John (the late Joanne), and Shirley (Donald) Contine. Memorials are requested to the Leukemia Association.

TONY GATES
Of Des Plaines

A funeral service for Tony P. Gates, 48, took place on Saturday, May 5, at G.L. Hills Funeral Home. Interment was at All Saints cemetery. Mr. Gates was born on Sept. 2, 1958 in Elmhurst. He died on Wednesday, May 2, in Park Ridge. Mr. Gates was in the Marine Corps Reserves. He was survived by his siblings Kathleen (the late Robert) Taylor, Walter Gates, David (Mary Ann) Gates, Robert (Barbara) Gates, Thomas (Patricia) Gates, Christine (James) Trickey, Lorretta (the late Anthony) Miceli, Joseph (Bonnie) Gates, Bernadette Gates (Steven Thomas) and Therese (Philip) Medley. Mr. Gates also dearly loved being an uncle and great uncle.
