Interment was private. Mr. Ponce worked in education, publishing, advertising and, most recently, computer software. He died on Apr. 3, 2007. He is survived by his wife Kathy, children Jamie and Dave, brother Chuck (Barb) Lazzaro, nieces Annie, Nikki and Julie, sister-in-law Marilyn (Chuck) Silkey, cousins Toni Teso, Dolores Young, Isabel (Dave) Teal-Rimi, Carolyn (Bernie) Spilly, Shari (Mike Sanders) Rodriguez, and nephew Albert Rodriguez. JOHN "JACK" BRAUN
Of Des Plaines

A funeral service for John "Jack" Braun of Des Plaines, 85, was held Tuesday, Apr. 24, at G.L. Hills Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Visitation was held the same day prior to the service. Mr. Braun was born on Mar. 28, 1922 in Chicago. He died Saturday, Apr. 21. He was a member of the VFW of Des Plaines and a resident of Des Plaines for 80 years. He was also a WWII Veteran. He is survived by his wife, Betty; cousins, Ray, Thomas and Robert; many nieces and nephews. Interment was held at Ridgewood cemetery in Des Plaines. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society in his name are appreciated.

ALICE BURROWS
Of Rolling Meadows

A funeral service for Alice May Burrows (nee Dieball) of Rolling Meadows, 76, took place Tuesday at Meadows Funeral Home. Interment at St. Michael cemetery in Palatine. Ms. Burrows was born May 28, 1030 in Chicago. She died Friday, Apr. 20 at Resurrection Hospital in Chicago. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Burrows and her sisters Dorothy Bayaro and Evelyn Johnston. She is survived by her sons Michael (Roberta) Burrows and Robert Burrows, her granddaughters Cassandra and Vanessa, and her siblings Eleanor Kalis, Walter Dieball, Carl Dieball, and Marleen Gewartowski.

HAROLD CARSON
Of Rolling Meadows

A funeral service for Harold G. Carlson of Rolling Meadows, 76, was held Sunday, Apr. 22, at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Visitation was held the same day prior to the service. Mr. Carlson was born on Dec. 6, 1930 in Chicago. He died Tuesday, Apr. 17 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. He had worked as a carpenter for many years and a member of the Carpenters Local 1307. He was also a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Betty (nee Ritter); children, Alan (Kathy), Bruce, David (Kathy) and Sharon (Tom) Maggiore; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Carmen.

ROBERT COCHRANE
Of Mt. Prospect

A funeral service for Robert Cochrane of Mt. Prospect, 84, was held Wednesday, Apr. 18, at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. Visitation was held the same day prior to the service. Mr. Cochrane was born on Mar. 17, 1923 in Chicago. He died Saturday, Apr. 14 at his home. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was also an assistant sales manager for Silver Cup/Butternut Bakery. After he retired he was very active with the Arlington Heights Senior Center, Wheeling Township committees, Suburban Area Agency on Aging and CEDA. He is survived by his wife, Mary Cochrane (nee Miskoci); daughter, Carol Levitan; grandchildren, Bryana (Jeffrey) Levitan and Isaac Levitan; great-grandson Noah Levitan; brother, Ronald. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Arlington Heights Senior Center or rainbow Hospice are appreciated.

VINCENT H. HAMBLIN
Of Elk Grove Village

A funeral service for Vincent H. Hamblin of Elk Grove Village, 88, was held Saturday, Apr. 21 at Grove Memorial Chapel. Mr. Hamblin died Monday, Apr. 16 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his dear sisters Minerva Nyden and Vinece Schols. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Joan A. nee Jenks Hamblin, loving daughters Barbara J. (Carl) Duce, Patricia L. Hamblin, and Laura M. (John) Koeplin, cherished grandchildren Brian (Chris) Duce, Melissa Koeplin, Kristan Koeplin, and Michael Koeplin, and great grandchildren Victoria and Tyler. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Manor Care Nursing Center of Elk Grove Village.

HELEN W. HOLZWARTH
Of Arlington Hts.

A funeral service and visitation for Helen W. Holzwarth nee Wetendorf of Arlington Hts., 89, took place Wednesday at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Hts. Interment Private. Ms. Holzwarth was born Dec. 21, 1917 in Chicago to the late William and Erna Wetendorf. She worked for the AJ Collins Manufacturing Company for over 25 years. She and her husband operated the Double D Tap in Chicago for 11 years. She died Sunday, Apr. 15 at the Lutheran Home. She is preceded in death by her husband, David Holzwarth and her daughter JoAnn Herold. She is survived by her sons David (Gayle) Holzwarth and James (Cheryl) Holzwarth, her grandchildren Jeffrey (Leonor) Brown, Jennifer (Andrew) Peebler, Amy Holzwarth, Jason Holzwarth, Tyler Holzwarth, Elissa "Ellie" Holzwarth, Jamie Herold, and Stefan Herold, and her great grandson Christopher Jeffrey Brown. She was aunt to many. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Lutheran Home, 800 W. Oakton St., Arlington Hts., Ill. Funeral arrangements made by the Meadows Funeral Home.

LORETTA KLASSON
Of Arlington Heights

A funeral service for Loretta M. Klasson (nee Marozick) of Arlington Heights, 90, was held Saturday, Apr. 21, at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights. Visitation was held the same day prior to the service. Mrs. Klasson was born on Mar. 13, 1917 in Chicago. She died Wednesday, Apr. 18 at the Lutheran Home. She had worked as a secretary for an accounting firm for many years. She is survived by her many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews and cousins. Mrs. Klasson is preceded in death by her husband, Josta; sister, Alice (the late George) Thiele; brother, Alvin and her parents, Edward and Augusta. Interment was held at Ridgewood cemetery in Des Plaines. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Commitment 26 Fund in care of the Lutheran Home or Rainbow Hospice.

JOSEPHINE LUCAS
Formerly of Park Ridge

A funeral service formerly of Park Ridge, 97, was held Saturday, Apr. 21, at St. Paul of the Cross Church. Visitation was held the same day prior to the service at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home. Interment was held at Rosehill cemetery. Mrs. Lucas was born on Apr. 10, 1910 in Chicago. She died Friday, Apr. 13 in San Gabriel, Calif. She was a retired book binder. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Ivy (Terry) Terracina, Robert (the late Dolores) Vani, Mariann (Robert) Larsen and James (Josephine) Vani; many grand-nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lucas was preceded in death by her husband, James R.; siblings, Joseph, James and Millio Vani.

GILBERT G. MIRS
Of Arlington Hts.

A funeral service for Gilbert G. Mirs of Arlington Hts., 96, took place Saturday, Apr. 21 at St. John United Church of Christ in Arlington Hts. Visitation was the previous day. Interment at St. Mary Church cemetery in Buffalo Grove. Mr. Mirs was born Aug. 16, 1910 in Little Falls, Minn. to Otto and Hulda nee Landmeier Mirs. He was a machinist employed with Set Screw Products for over 30 years before retiring in 1975. He had an interest in genealogy and Arlington Hts. history. He was an active member of St. John United Church of Christ. He died Tuesday, Apr. 17 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Hts. He is preceded in death by his wife Sophie B. nee Mukahirn, his parents and his siblings. He is survived by his sister Gladys Wente, his sisters-in-law Louise Mirs and Wally Specht, his brother-in-law Alvin Haas, his nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and many friends. Memorial contributions may be given to St. John United Church of Christ with Faith and Family Campaign in the memo line, or to a favorite charity. Funeral arrangements made by Glueckert Funeral Home.

A funeral service for Dolores J. Mrofcza nee Buhrke of Elk Grove Village, 75, took place at Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Elk Grove Village. Private inurnment in Concordia cemetery. Dolores was born in Chicago. She was a prior owner of Embassy Liquor & Tap of Chicago. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband John J. Mrofcza and her sister Carol Theorin. She is survived by her beloved children John J. Jr. (Georgette) Mrofcza, Donald A. (Catherine) Mrofcza, Robert P. (Elizabeth) Mrofcza, and Ronald W. Mrofcza, and her cherished grandchildren Gregory, Samuel, Christopher, Kate, William, Donald, Beth, Robert, Matthew, Benjamin, Kelly and Duke. Funeral arrangements made by Grove Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services for Zofia Nowalska of Park Ridge, 70, will be today (Wednesday) at 9:15 a.m. at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. John Brebeuf Church. Visitation was yesterday. Interment at St. Adalbert cemetery. Ms. Nowalska was born Apr. 7, 1937. She worked as an inspector in the manufacturing industry. She died Sunday, Apr. 22 at home. She is preceded in death by her parents Janina nee Giedroje and Edward Pilecki, and her brother Zygmunt (Teresa) Pilecki. She is survived by her sons Mark (Alice) Nowalski and Darren (Shelley) Nowalski, her daughter Eva (Douglas) Hyndman, her grandchildren Matthew Nowalski, Jake Nowalski, Nicky Nowalski, Lisa (Mike) Malesevic, Andrew Hyndman, Stephen Hyndman, and Sophia Hyndman, and her siblings Edward (Jasia) Pilecki, Wally (Leslie) Pilecki, and Alina (Bogdan) Kleszczeski, and many nieces and nephews.

THOMAS G. OAKSON

Prayers for Thomas G. Oakson of Mt. Prospect will be today (Wednesday) at 9:15 a.m. at Glueckert Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect followed by 10 a.m. Mass. Visitation was yesterday. Entombment at All Saints Mausoleum. Mr. Oakson is preceded in death by his fond sister-in-law Evelyn (Joseph) Ripoli. He is survived by his beloved wife Yolanda nee Gebbia Oakson, beloved children Anthony (Brenda) and Amy (Joseph) Oakson-Hornat, beloved grandchildren Julia and Thomas Oakson, dear siblings Joseph (Patricia) Oakson and Barbara (the late William) Strunk, and fond sister-in-law Connie Johnson. WILLIAM E. OLSEN

A funeral service for William E. Olsen of Hoffman Estates, 79, was held Saturday, Apr. 21 at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows. Visitation was Friday. Inurnment at All Saints cemetery in Des Plaines. Mr. Olsen was born Jan. 1, 1928 in Denver, Co. He was the CEO of IGA Food Stores for many years. He died Monday, Apr. 16 at Brighton Gardens of Hoffman Estates. He is preceded in death by his daughter Diane Olsen and his brother Arnold Olsen. He is survived by his children Janet (John) Napoli, Karen (Ken) Stiff, David (Donna) Olsen, and Christina Olsen, and five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4709 Golf Rd., Skokie, Ill. of Vitas Hospice, 580 Waters Edge, Lombard, Ill.

CARL POMRENING
Of Elk Grove Village World War II Navy Veteran

A funeral service for Carl M. Pomrening, 80, took place at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit in Elk Grove Village. Mr. Pomrening died on Sunday, Apr. 15, at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. The World War II Navy veteran was retired after working for Continental Airlines as a mechanic. Mr. Pomrening was survived by his wife Nancy (nee Baker), son Christopher M. (Lupe) Pomrening and daughter Suzanne L. (Mark) Kasch, and grandchildren Julio (Kelly), Gloria, Bryan, Erich, Kevyn, Ishobel, Kyle and Teresa. He was preceded in death by his sisters Henrietta Gustafson and Esther Pomrening. In lieu of flowers, donations to the church are appreciated.

THOMAS QUINN
Of Rolling Meadows

A memorial service for Thomas P. Quinn of Rolling Meadows, 52, was held Saturday, Apr. 21, at Southminister Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights at 11 a.m. Mr. Quinn was born on Jan. 2, 1955 in Oak Park. He died Friday, Mar. 30 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. He was a retired manager for Zurich Insurance. He is survived by his wife, Jody (nee Mintek); children, Jeffrey, Thomas, Robin and Martin; siblings, Maureen and Eileen Quinn and Kathleen (Gary) Whitt. Mr. Quinn was preceded in death by his parents Thomas W. and Anne. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

NORA RALPH
Longtime Maine West Administrator

A visitation and funeral Mass for Nora Mae nee Finnell Ralph of Des Plaines, 92, took place Tuesday at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines and at St. Emily Catholic Church. Interment in All Saints cemetery. Mrs. Ralph was born June 20, 1914 near Pontiac, Ill. the daughter of Frank and Nora nee Bower Finnell. She worked in the administration office of Maine West High School for many years. After retirement, she actively participated in the Maine West Brown Baggers and cherished the monthly group meetings with her many friends. She moved to the Richmond, Va. area in 2004 to be closer to a nephew and his family. She married Vincent Ralph on Nov. 21, 1940. Mr. Ralph, a past lieutenant governor of the Illinois Kiwanis, died in 1999. They had no children. She passed away Tuesday, Apr. 17 in Richmond. She is preceded in death by her brother, Leo Finnell, her sister Gladys Dougherty and Lucille Shaw, her nephew Jack Finnell, and her great-nephew Peter Welle.

STEVE SAGAT
Of Park Ridge

A funeral service for Steve Sagat of Park Ridge, 83, was held Monday, Apr. 16, at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Park Ridge. Visitation was held the day before at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home. Mr. Sagat was born on Mar. 23, 1924 in Brezova, Czechoslovakia. He died Friday, Apr. 13 at Lutheran General Hospital. He was an owner of Walton Chrysler Jeep Automobile dealership in Skokie. He was also an army veteran from WWII. He is survived by his wife, Bette (nee Belan); children, Susan (Leonard) Marlenau, John (Danette) and James (Sylvia); grandchildren, Scott and Matthew Marlenau, John, Jennifer, Jason and Kevin Sagat; great-grandchildren, Brian, Tommy and Kayla Marlenau and Jillian Sagat. Mr. Sagat was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Sagat. Interment was held at Bohemian National cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Andrews Lutheran Church Organ Fund are appreciated.

LILLIAN R. AUSTERLADE

A funeral service for Lillian R. "Lee" Austerlade, 81, of Rolling Meadows, will be held Apr. 18 at 10 a.m. at St. Colette Church. Visitation was held Tuesday at Meadows Funeral Home. Interment will be at St. Michael cemetery in Palatine. Ms. Austerlade was born on May 29, 1925 in Chicago. She died on Apr. 13, 2007 at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights. She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard and sister Esther. Ms. Austerlade is survived by her children David (Debra), Mary (Douglas) Zabrin, Ellen (Steve) Drane, Patricia Austerlade, Kristine (Charles) Moldenhauer and Lisa Hinman, her 11 grandchildren and siblings Eleanore and William Koss. A funeral service for Peggy D. Corbett, 90, of Buffalo Grove and formerly of Park Ridge, will be private. Arrangements are by Ahlgrim Family Funeral Services, Palatine. Burial will be in St. Michael the Archangel cemetery, Palatine. A native of the Bronx, New York City, she died Apr. 6 in Northwest Community Healthcare, Arlington Hts. Surviving are her former husband, Francis J. Corbett; children Kenneth F., (Leann), and Beverly (Kenneth) Linhart; grandchildren Kirstin, Brett, and Travis Corbett; and Geoffrey, Dana, and Alexandra Grace; and siblings Francis DePalo, Henry DePalo, and Margaret DePalo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pasquale and Azunta Sinno, and siblings Generoso, Domenico, and Christina Sinno.
