Charles A. Puscheck

Charles "Chuck" A. Puscheck, 70, of Naperville died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at home. He was born July 12, 1930, in Brookfield. He grew up in Brookfield and attended Quigley Preparatory Seminary in Chicago and St. Mary of the Lake in Mundelein. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp for three years during the Korean War and afterward graduated from DePaul University in Chicago with a degree in commerce.

He had been owner and chairperson of Prager Storage & Van Co. since 1961. He purchased the company in Elmhurst and moved it to Naperville in 1964. He was active in the Naperville community and the moving and storage industry as a member of the Illinois Movers and Warehouseman's Association.

He was a former member of St. Margaret Mary Church. He was former president of the Naperville Noon Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing, gaming and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary (Cain) of Naperville; three children, James (wife Katie) Puscheck of Naperville, John (wife Julie) Puscheck of Naperville and Jean Puscheck of Forest Park; three grandchildren, Alexandra, Maxwell and Lauren Puscheck, all of Naperville; his mother, Martha (Thill) Puscheck of Massachusetts; a sister, Lucille Drane of Norton, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Puscheck.

Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

Services will begin at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, at the funeral home and proceed to a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Margaret Mary Church, 1450 Green Trails Drive, Naperville. The Rev. Don McLaughlin will officiate.

Interment will be at SS Peter and Paul cemetery in Naperville.

Memorials may be directed to Quigley Preparatory Seminary, 103 E. Chestnut St., Chicago, IL 60611-2093; or St. Thomas Hospice, 8230 S. Madison St., Burr Ridge, IL 60521.

Francis Pucciani

Francis Pucciani, 85, of Lisle died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at St. Patrick's Residence in Naperville. He was born Aug. 20, 1915, in Fairview, N.J.

He had been a Lisle resident since 1995. He retired in 1980 as vice president of General Cigar Co. in New York. He was a 1937 graduate of Rutgers University and 1940 with bachelor's and master's in economics. He served in the United States during World War II.

He is survived by two daughters, Dr. Linda (husband James Zaino) Pucciani of Countryside and Dr. Donna (husband Dr. Peter Bostock) Pucciani of Wheaton; a grandchild, Lori Zaino of Countryside; a sister, Rose (husband John) Verdino of Palisades Park, N.J.; a brother-in-law, Eugene Cappezzuto of River Edge, N.J.; and a niece, Carla (husband Gregory) Sullwold of West New York, N.J.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucile (Swoboda) Pucciani; and a sister, Maria Cappezzuto.

Services and interment will be private.

Edward F. Soldat

Edward F. Soldat, 76, a recent resident of Naperville and formerly of Berwyn for 53 years, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001. He was born Jan. 29, 1925, in Chicago.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served as an Army sergeant in the 524th Military Police Battalion Theater. He retired in 1984 from Wallace Press, a division of Wallace Computer Services Inc., after 38 years of service. He was a member of the Graphic Communications International Union 458M, The Lithographers Club of Chicago and The Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed his retirement by spending time with his family and their poodles. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Irene Soldat; and two children, Susan (husband Edward) Schumacher and Nancy (husband Thomas) Brija of Naperville.

A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, at Adolf-Berwyn Funeral Home, Ltd., 2921 S. Harlem Ave., Berwyn.

Interment will be at Woodlawn cemetery in Forest Park.

Harry George Weston

Harry George Weston, 84, of Naperville died Monday, July 2, 2001, at his home. He was born April 11, 1917, in Chicago.

He moved to Naperville in 1999 after living in Berwyn. He worked for many years as a customer service representative in the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors. He was a member and former president of the Kiwanis Golden "K" Club in Berwyn and former commander of the Berwyn American Legion. He volunteered through Lucent Technologies for the Special Olympics for 10 years. He was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Wilhelmina "Billie" R. (Loster) Weston of Naperville; a son, Paul E. (wife Karen K.) Weston of Aurora; a daughter, LaVonne M. Weston of Naperville; a brother, George E. (wife Leana) Weston of Chatham; two sisters, Lucille L. Fonda of Bellingham, Wash., and Jean C. Henrioulle of Morton; a grandson, Noel Eric Weston of Aurora; and twin great-grandsons, Aaron Cristin and Jason Paul Weston of Tucson, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Edwin and Marie (Martin) Weston.

Visitation will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 6, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 117 W. Van Buren Ave., Naperville.

A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Mount Auburn cemetery in Stickney.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 999 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.

Mack G. Williamson

Mack G. Williamson, 50, a resident of Naperville for seven years, died Monday, June 11, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. He was born Nov. 15, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio.

He was a former resident of Downers Grove and he was raised in Hinsdale and graduated from Hinsdale Central High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era and the owner operator of A.A.W. Power Generator Systems in Naperville. He also had worked for the Brookfield Zoo. He was a longtime member of the National Rifle Association and competed in many target shooting competitions.

He is survived by his wife, Joan (Smith) of Naperville; his parents, Weaver M., D.V.M., and Nellie (Carrigan) Williamson of Bellfast, Ohio; a sister, Chris (husband Ivan) Rakyta of Bellfast; his mother and father-in-law, Russell and Eunice Smith of Naperville; a brother-in-law, David (wife Debbie) Smith of North Aurora; four sisters-in-law, Janice (husband David) Redman of Monticello, Jean (husband Larry) Jacob of Bloomingdale, Barb (husband Kenneth) Kudia of Naperville and Linda (husband Bob) Sandmann of Bolingbrook.

A funeral service will take place at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 117 W. Van Buren Ave., Naperville. Visitation will take place from 3 p.m. until the time of service.

Interment will take place at Coss cemetery in Jackson Township, Ohio.

Vernon Arthur Worthel

Vernon Arthur Worthel, 77, of Naperville died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at Meadowbrook Manor in Naperville. He was born June 23, 1924, in Downers Grove and moved to Naperville in 1932.

His first job was as a clerk and delivery person for Broeker's Grocery Store. For 20 years, he worked as an upholsterer for Kroehler Manufacturing, after which he worked for the Joliet Arsenal for three years with perfect attendance. He then managed a car wash in Glen Ellyn for several years and he most recently was a custodian at Mill Street Elementary School in Naperville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Judd Kendall Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3873 and Naperville Moose Lodge 1290.

He is survived by his wife, Zela (Whelchel) Worthel of Naperville; a son, Lee Arthur (wife Serena) Worthel of Williamsburg, Va.; six daughters, Nancy Worthel of Naperville, Verna Joy (husband Stephen) Carroll of Lawton, Mich., Diane (husband Tony) Vodicka of Yorkville, Sally (husband Zygmunt) Krauze of Warrenville, Terry Frey of Sterling and Peggy Worthel of Naperville; two stepsisters, Sylvia Wennlund and Pauline Elger, both of St. Charles; a sister-in-law, Ann Worthel of Durand; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Gertrude (Kroehler) Worthel; a brother, Wayne Worthel; a sister, Sybil Jenkins; a stepbrother, Victor Rothley; and a stepsister, Betty Jane Campbell.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 117 W. Van Buren, Naperville.

Interment will take place at Naperville cemetery in Naperville.

Memorials may be made to the Missions at Naperville Bible Church, 1320 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville, IL 60540.

Marie C. Cain

Marie C. Cain, 76, of Wheaton died Monday, June 11, 2001, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. She was born Jan. 30, 1925, in Oak Park.

She was a member of the Women's Club of Berwyn as acting secretary, a member of Pioneers of Illinois Bell Telephone Co., a longtime member of St. Leonard's Church in Berwyn for 67 years and a member of SS Peter and Paul Church in Naperville since 1993. She had been a resident of Berwyn for 67 years and of the Cameo Association of Downers Grove for four years.

She is survived by a brother, Martin (wife Carol) Cain of Lake Carroll, formerly of Naperville; three nieces; three nephews; 12 great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous cousins.

Visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 15, at SS Peter and Paul Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.

Interment will be at Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside.

Joseph L. Barenbrugge

Joseph "Joe" L. Barenbrugge, 85, of Cape Coral, Fla., and a former longtime resident of Naperville, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Edward Hospital in Naperville. He was born Aug. 14, 1915, in Dunkirk, Ind.

He moved to Naperville when he was 8 years old and attended SS Peter and Paul Grade School and Naperville High School. After graduating, he went to work at Tasty Bakery, a business his father founded in 1926. He was drafted and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he returned to Tasty Bakery and then moved on to Cloverleaf Dairy in Downers Grove and finally drove a school bus for Naperville School District 203, from which he retired in 1981. After retiring, he moved to Cape Coral, Fla., where he was a member of the Elks Fraternal Organization and was a volunteer at Cape Coral Hospital. He was a longtime member of SS Peter and Paul Church and enjoyed ballroom dancing, golf and tennis.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Eleanor (Field) Barenbrugge, of Cape Coral, Fla.; seven children, Judy (husband Dan) Carlisle of Polk City, Iowa, Larry Barenbrugge of Pine, Colo., Jeanne (husband Randy) Yorke of Naperville, Michael Barenbrugge of Naperville, Chuck (wife Belinda) Barenbrugge of Salt Lake City, Teri (husband Steve) Laman of Annandale, N.J., and John (wife Melody) Barenbrugge of Salt Lake City; a stepdaughter, Claudia (husband Tom) Earth of Chicago; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five siblings, Gertrude Barenbrugge of Hollywood, Fla., Rose Mary (husband Wendell) Fry of Beaver Lake, Neb., Fran (wife Cindy) Barenbrugge of Naperville, Anna Mae (husband Lenny) Cerny of North Miami, Fla., and Jim (wife Fern) Barenbrugge of Naperville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sally (Bednarz) Barenbrugge; a granddaughter, Nicole Tracy; a stepdaughter, Terri Drendel; a brother, Carl Barenbrugge; and his parents, Joseph H. and Laura (Hiltenbrand) Barenbrugge.

A memorial visitation will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 1, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville.

A memorial Mass of Christian burial will take place at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 2, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville. His body was donated to science.

Emma Zider

Emma Zider, 90, of Naperville died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at Tabor Hills Health Care Facility in Naperville. She was born Feb. 12, 1911, in Belle Valley, Ohio.

She had been a resident of Naperville for the past seven years and previously lived most of her life in New Kensington and Arnold, Pa. She was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor's degree in education. She served as secretary to the superintendent and secretary of the Arnold School District and later was a teacher in the New Kensington-Arnold School District. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of New Kensington and was a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Christian Mothers of the Church. She also was a member of the National Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by her son, David J. (wife Nancy) Zider of Naperville, and two grandchildren, Matthew David and Emily Zider, both of Naperville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her parents; and four brothers, Joseph Jr., Peter, Frank and Julius Scaries.

Visitation will take place from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, at Ross G. Walker Funeral Home Ltd., 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church in New Kensington. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell, Pa.

Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home in Naperville handled local arrangements.

Larry D. Todd

Larry D. Todd, 57, of Clinton, Ark., and a former resident of Naperville for 12 years and Elgin for 25 years, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at his home in Clinton. He was born Jan. 1, 1944, in Bremerton, Wash.

He had been a custom home builder in the Naperville area for 10 years with Anthony-Michael Builders and Todd Homes.

He is survived by two daughters, Cindy Heneghan of Geneva and Michelle (husband Steve) Warner of Naperville; five grandchildren, Justin, Christina and Michael Heneghan and Marni and Jack Warner; and his mother, Essie Keever.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank, and a brother, Delbert.

A graveside service was held Saturday, June 9, at Clinton cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Iris Garden Club, Route 1, Box 241, Shirley, AR 72153 for establishing a memorial garden at Clinton City Park and Walking Trail.

Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton handled arrangements.

Victoria L. Mistele

Victoria L. (Jorgenson) Mistele, 49, of Darien died Saturday, June 23, 2001, at Edward Hospital in Naperville after a five-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born June 10, 1952, in Milwaukee.

She had been employed as a secretary for an employment company.

She is survived by a son, Nathan (wife Heather) Mistele of West Chicago; a daughter, Misty Mistele of Naperville; her mother, Doris Kubiak (Heuler) of Hartland, Wis.; two sisters, Michelle (husband Richard) Freiberg of Medina, Ohio, and Jonelle (husband Don) Linke of Bay View, Wis.; an aunt, Barbara (husband Ray) Kieren of Whitefish Bay, Wis.; two nephews, Kalib King of Delafield, Wis., and Robert Freiberg of Medina; a niece, Crystal Freiberg of Medina; and her lifelong friend, Leslie (husband Scott) Symons of Rhinelander, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert H. Jorgenson.

Visitation will take place at noon and a memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 1, at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 117 W. Van Buren Ave., Naperville.

Interment will be private.

Memorials would be appreciated as Masses or directed to Loyola Hospice, 2160 S. First Ave., Maywood, IL 60153.
