McLEANSBORO -- Doris Juanita Prince, 77, died at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, in Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, in Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with the Revs. Wayne Vaupel and Harl Cockrum officiating. Burial will be in Enfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Jerry Hardamon
UNITY -- Jerry Hardamon, 46, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, in Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Arrangements are incomplete at Heavenly Gates Funeral Home.

Phyllis Hassler
NASHVILLE -- Phyllis J. Hassler, 69, died at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at home. Arrangements are pending at the Styninger-Krupp Funeral Home in Nashville.

Louis Russell
MURPHYSBORO -- Louis R. Russell, 85, died at 10:17 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, in Pettett Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, with military services conducted by the American Legion Post No. 127, VFW Post No. 7190 and 2605, and the Jackson County DAV Chapter No. 69. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and until 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Beverly Chancey
CARTERVILLE -- Beverly Jane (Crain) Chancey, 75, died at 2:55 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, in St. Louis University Hospital. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.

Anthony Castanon
MARION -- Anthony Rous Castoro Castanon, 75, of Hawaii, formerly of Marion, went at be with the Lord, Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, in Hawaii. He was an ordained minister. He is survived by daughter, Tonetta Romeo of Marion; Lainanc Castoro of Indiana; Anthony Bruse Castoro of St. Louis; seven grandsons and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Hattie Castanon. He will be remembered by family and friends.

Ruth Donelson
ROYALTON -- Ruth Donelson, 80, Royalton, died at 5:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Ruth was born on April 14, 1924, in Baltimore, to Joe and Lilly (Maxwell) Moody. She married Layman Eugene 'Bud' Donelson on Jan. 30, 1959, in Dearborn, Mich. He preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 2001. She is survived by a son, John Edward Kirchoff of Royalton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Phillip Roberts of Woodbury, Tenn., and Sharon and Arthur Wroblewski of South Gate, Mich. and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her parents, three brothers and four sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Donelson was a member of the First Baptist Church in Royalton and a homemaker. Services for Mrs. Donelson will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at Vantrease Funeral Home in Royalton, with Brother Jim Ebbs officiating. Burial will be in Miners Cemetery east of Royalton. Visiting hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Kenneth C. 'KC' Behnke
HARRISBURG -- Kenneth C. 'KC' Behnke, 60, of Harrisburg, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, in Harrisburg Medical Center. He was born on Aug. 11, 1944, in Eldorado, the son of the late Kenneth L. Behnke and Velma (Owens) Behnke. He was married to the former Sharon O'Neal in Harrisburg on Dec. 26, 1965. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Harrisburg, where he served on various committees including the Board of Trustees, youth leader and usher for many years. He was a member of the Raleigh Masonic Lodge and the Raleigh Water Board. He retired from Peabody Coal Co. and farmed livestock after his retirement. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps. Surviving besides his wife are three children, Bryce, Blake (Katie) and Brooke Behnke all of HarrisburG. Also surviving besides his mother are sisters and brothers, Donna (Jack) Lane of Eldorado, Bob (Sharon) Behnke of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Trudy Etienne of Eldorado and Thom (Sharon) Behnke of Carmi; granddaughters, Elle and Gracie Behnke; and mother and father-in-law, Dugan and Clesta O'Neal of Harrisburg; sister-in-law, Peggy (Harold) Jobes of Edmond, Okla., and Fred (Donna) O'Neal of St. Louis. Also several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church of Harrisburg, with the Rev. Paul Widicus officiating. Burial will be in Raleigh Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg,For those who wish, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of HarrisburG. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

BENTON -- Cyril Eugene Bowlin, 56, died at 2:15 p. m Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, at home. Arrangements are incomplete at Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton.

William 'Bill' Muir
SESSER -- Surrounded by his family, Willliam A. 'Bill' Muir, 87, of Sesser, entered into eternal rest at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Mr. Muir was born in Sesser on Aug. 1, 1917, the son of Harrison and Nettie (Walls) Muir. He married Geraldine Shepard on Oct. 21, 1939, in Morganfield, Ky., and she preceded him in death on Feb. 14, 2000. Survivors include four children, Mary Ann Baker and husband Howard of Morris, Ala. ; Linda Howell and husband Gary of Sesser; Billy Muir and wife Roberta of Benton; and Jim Muir and wife Lisa Kay of Sesser. Mr. Muir is also survived by eight grandchildren, Col. Howard B. Baker, stationed in Okinawa; Mary Brazier of Mount Olive, Ala. ; Bruce Baker of Gardendale, Ala. ; Jamey VanZandt of Mount Vernon; Lyndsay Muir of Carbondale; Mackenzie Muir of Highridge, Mo. ; and Caleb and Bailey Muir, both of Benton, and seven step-grandchildren, Becky Przygoda of Pinckneyville; Frank Leffner of Ashley; Josh Conner of Carbondale; Ginger Conner of Sesser; Chuck Brewer and Goldie O'Connor, both of Meza, Ariz. ; and Michelle Brewer of Brentwood, Tenn. He is also survived by one brother, Lester Muir and wife Helen of Racine, Wis., and by 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clyde Muir; and two sisters, Helen and Hazel Muir. Mr. Muir worked for more than 40 years as an underground coal miner, last working at Old Ben Mine 21 near Sesser, where he worked for 25 years before retiring in 1983. He also worked at Old Ben mines in Valier, Buckner and Coello. He was a 40-year member of the United Mine Workers and served as an official for UMW Local Union 1124, where he was a member of the mine committee and a pit committeeman. Mr. Muir also served on the school board at Sesser Unit School District and was a 50-year member of the Sesser Church of God, where he was a Sunday school superintendent and teacher. Mr. Muir loved to work in his yard, was an avid walker; and, most importantly, was a pillar to his family. His work ethic was unmatched in his children's eyes and his strength, character and belief in God was evident until the very last moment of his life. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today in Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser, with the Rev. Tim Melvin officiating. His son, Jim Muir, and his grandson, Jamey VanZandt, will offer eulogies during the memorial service. Friends may call from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Muir asked prior to his death that memorial contributions be made to the Maple Hill Cemetery Fund or the Sesser Church of God. Donations will be accepted at the funeral home.

WEST FRANKFORT -- Jeff Wyant, 25, died at 5:45 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, in Benton. Arrangements are incomplete at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort.
