Helen E. Portlock
Helen E. Portlock, 76, of Mesa, AZ, passed away March 31, 2005. Helen was a retired quality control inspector for Motorola.
She is survived by her two daughters, Diana (James) Donnell of Nocona, TX and Pamela (Dale) Jackson of Mesa; seven grandchildren, Sara, Jamie, Rex, Kelly, Keith, Jessica and Crystal.
Visitation was Monday, April 4, 2005 at Mariposa Gardens Funeral Care, 400 S. Power Rd. in Mesa 480-830-4422. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at East Mesa Free Will Baptist Church, 2160 N. Power Rd. Burial will follow at City of Mesa cemetery. Contributions may be made in Helen's memory to the Church. Mariposa Gardens serving the family.

Ruth F. Clemens
Ruth F. Clemens, 77, of Elgin passed away Sunday, April 8, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born January 15, 1924 in Utica, IL, the daughter of Harold and Nikolene Johnsen.
She was a graduate of Ottawa High School. She had been a resident of Elgin since 1961. She had been employed by J. C. Penney Company and Simpson Electric before retiring.
Surviving are her husband, Leroy S. Clemens of Elgin; a daughter, Karen (Sean) Kernan of Stony Creek, Conn; two sons, Donald (Susan) Clemens and Mark (Kaye) Clemens both of Elgin; three grandchildren, Casey and Bridget Clemens and Lauryn Piatt; two sisters, Gladys Satterfield and Esther Schafer both of Ottawa, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Waldemar, Harold and Adolph Johnsen; and a sister, Tamar Munks.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 3 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Dan Brosier officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Salvation Army, Operation Jingle Bells or the Interfaith Food Pantry, 256 E. Chicago St., Elgin in honor of her own feeding of many people throughout her life.

Viola M. Danielek
Viola M. Danielek, 88, of Elgin passed away Saturday, April 7, 2001 in Sherman West Court.
She was born March 28, 1913 in Pingree Grove, IL, the daughter of Henry and Selma (Ratzloff) Wiese.
Viola was a former member of the St. John's Lutheran Church of Elgin, and a member of the Mission Society where many hours were spent quilting. Presently she is a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. "Granny" will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, John Patrick Danielek, whom she married on July 6, 1935; two children, James (Nancy) Danielek of Elgin and Donna (Robert) Breen of North Canton, OH; five grandchildren, Douglas (Deborah) Danielek, Cynthia (Steve) Westerman and Carri (Robert) Laird all of Elgin, Kim Breen of Phoenix, AZ and Jeff (Trisha) Breen of Torrance, CA; nine great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Rose, Stephanie, Ryan, Jessica, Jillian, Patrick, Anthony and Shaun.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Frederick "Fritz", Harry, Walter "Lefty" and Harvey "Jim" Wiese; and a sister, Ruth Krumwiede Tatman.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Martin Blazer officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM in the funeral home.

Vernon Paul Keller, Sr.
Vernon Paul Keller, Sr., 88, of Elgin passed away Friday, April 6, 2001 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital.
He was born July 28, 1912 in Burlington, IL, the son of Theodore and Matilda (Eickested) Keller.
On September 17, 1932, he married Thelma Sportsman in Elgin, IL. He was a casket maker for the Elgin Casket Company for 32 years. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge in the 1950's.
He is survived by his children, Barbara Capri of New York City, Vernon Keller, Jr. of Lake in the Hills, David Keller of Joliet, Kathleen (Robert) Mulroney of Elgin, Diane (Dean) Knight of Fox River Grove and Christi (Paul) Engen of Elgin; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Hallman of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Thelma Keller on December 16, 1999; two brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at the O'Connor and Homeier Funeral Home, 364 E. Division St., Elgin.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at 11 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin with Father Dempsey officiating. Burial will be held at Mt. Hope cemetery.

Esther J. Birkhead
Esther J. Birkhead, 76, of Elgin passed away Saturday, April 7, 2001 in Sherman West Court, Elgin.
She was born July 28, 1924 in Calvin, Oklahoma, the daughter of Charles and Frankie Carson Phillips.
She had been a resident of Elgin since 1958. She had been employed by the Elgin Mental Health Care Center as a Registered Nurse before retiring.
Surviving are five daughters, Irene (Everett) Clark of Gilberts, Frances (Larry) Adams of Phoenix, AZ, Vera (Basil) Whittington of Macedonia, IL, Lois (Pat) Hancock of Midwest City, OK and Glenda Campbell of Elgin; a son, Frank (Lucinda) Birkhead of Elgin; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Martha Randolph of St. Helens, Oregon; and a brother, J. P. Phillips of Reno, NV.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two children in infancy; a granddaughter, Kathryn Birkhead; a son-in-law, Danny Campbell; three brothers; and a sister.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 1 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM in the funeral home.

Linda Marie Fernandez
Linda Marie Fernandez, age 35, of Elgin, died Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. She was born October 28, 1969 in San Antonio, TX, the daughter of George and Juana Fernandez Vega.
Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 PM, Monday, April 11, 2005 at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin. Rev. Joseph Kulak will officiate. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM, until the time of service.
Linda is survived by her father in San Antonio, TX; a daughter, Yvette Fernandez of Elgin; three brothers, Rubin Fernandez of Elgin, George (Evelyn) and Elijah Vega, both of San Antonio, TX; four sisters, Jeanette (Roberto) Chagella, Estella Fernandez, Diana Fernandez, all of Elgin, and Veronica Vega of San Antonio, TX; and her maternal grandmother, Oralia Villanueva of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her mother, paternal grandparents, and maternal grandfather.

Leonard J. Bratthauer
Leonard J. Bratthauer, 67, of West Dundee died Sunday, April 8, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
He was born Jan. 31, 1934, the son of William and Vera Bratthauer.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He worked for Nicor for 29 years as a supervisor, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the VFW Dundee Post #2298 and the Elgin American Legion Post #57. A Veteran of the U.S. Navy & U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra, whom he married on April 7, 1962; a son, Scott (Debra) of Huntley; four daughters, Pam Kline of West Dundee, Jamie (Juan) Castillo of West Dundee, Kim Bratthauer of Elgin and Kelli (Jim) Bonkoski of Carpentersville; faithful friend, Toby; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Bob (Joann) of Elgin; a sister, Gloria "Sis" Lange; and his mother, Vera Jakes of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his father; his step-father, Mike; three brothers, Bill, Ron and Don; a sister, Jackie; and a granddaughter, Kourtney.
Private funeral services will be Wednesday, April 11 at 11 a.m., the Rev. Steven Simon and Frank Hewitt officiating. Burial will also be private.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m., Tuesday in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.

Lynn D. Cameron
Lynn D. Cameron, 75, of Aurora, formerly of Bartlett, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2001 in his home after a short illness.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Frances; three loving children, Jeanette Lacey, Dorothy Ecker and Scott Matson; 13 dear grandchildren; 26 cherished great-grandchildren; and dear friends.
Friends may join the family at a Memorial Service from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 11th at the Fireside Hall, 218 S. Main St., Bartlett.
