Alice R. Prahl
Alice R. Prahl, 81, of East Dundee died Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born on March 30, 1924 in West Dundee. She was the daughter of Clarence and Louise (nee Krahn) Behm. She was a life long resident of the area and a life long member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee. Prior to raising her children, she formerly worked at the Elgin Watch Co., and Haeger Pottery.
She is survived by her children, David Prahl of Carpentersville, Gloria Ziegler of East Dundee (formerly of Elgin), and Joy (Earl Jr) McNamara of East Dundee; two grandsons, Daniel McNamara and Joshua Ziegler; her brother, Carleton (Betty Jo) Behm of Carpentersville. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 24 years, Donald R. Prahl on May 31, 1974. They married on July 2, 1949; and four brothers, Martin, Vernon, Lester and Raymond.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. The Rev. Bruce W. Meissner will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6:30 to 9:00 PM in the funeral home. Please omit flowers, memorials may be made either to the Immanuel Lutheran Church LEGACY Fund or the American Heart Association.

Maurice M. Umbdenstock
Maurice M. Umbdenstock, age 87 of Bartlett. Loving husband of Marion, nee Schramer. Caring dad of Linda (Fred Dunn) Umbdenstock, Maurice J. (Opal), Don (Debbie), Ron (Sue), Randy (Nancy) and Sandy (Bob) Marinier. Cherished grandpa of ten and great-grandpa of two. Brother of Bertha Gorenz. Many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Prayers Thursday beginning at 9:15 a.m. at the Brust Funeral Home, 415 N. Gary Avenue, Carol Stream going to St. Isidore Catholic Church for 10:00 a.m. mass.
Visitation Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m. with prayer service at 7 p.m.
Maurice was a professed member of the Secular Franciscan Order for over 40 years. He was a medic in the Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Active parishioner at St. Isidore Catholic Church for 20 years and worked with their PADS projects. He helped serve in the soup kitchen in the Franciscan Outreach Program. He loved his family, farming and nature. Memorials may be made to Franciscan Outreach Association for the Homeless, St. Isidore Catholic Church "We Care" program or the St. Bernadine's Mission Fund. Paul Smith
Paul Smith, 71, of Elgin passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2001 in his home.
He was born on Dec. 15, 1929 in Cicero and was a graduate of Hinsdale High School.
He attended the University of Illinois and received his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering at the Midwest College of Engineering. He served in the Air Force in England as a Shoran Radar Technician. He retired from Motorola in 1997.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara (nee Hart); his sons, Paul F. Smith; Brian (Julia) Smith; grandchildren, Shania, twins Angela and Hunter; his step-son, Johnathan (Karen) Hart; step grandchildren, Elizabeth (Michael) Barker and Gary Hart; a brother, Don (Anne); and a half-brother, John (Olga).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday in the Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee, the Rev. Allen W. Belanger officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m., Friday in the funeral home.

Stewart Thoms Whittington
Stewart Thoms Whittington, 80, of Elgin, passed away Monday, April 9, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
He was born Nov. 19, 1920 in Elgin Township and was the son of Edgar and Mabel (Smith) Whittington.
Stewart had worked as a Dairy Farmer in the area for many years and also worked at Chicago Rawhide until his retirement.
He was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church of Elgin, the Kiwanis International Golden "K" Club of Elgin and the Elgin Symphony League.
Survivors include his wife, ElaineVillars Whittington, whom he married on July 27, 1947; three children, Mary(David) Whittington Eder of Las Vegas, Nev., Christine (Dennis) Whittington Green of Santa Barbara, Calif. and Ted (Rosy) Whittington of Elgin; four grandsons, Eric Behrens, Christopher andAaron Whittington and Stewart Green; and two cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; and a brother.
Memorial Services will be 3 p.m., Saturday, April 14, 2001 in Epworth United Methodist Church, Elgin (corner of W. Highland and Randall), the Dr. Thomas Potenza officiating. Burial will be private.
Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church, Elgin or charity of your choice.

Cecelia A. Schultz
Cecelia A. Schultz, 80, of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
She was born in Kankakee on May 29, 1920, the daugher of Orville and Aurore Langellier Detour.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Elgin. She worked for McGraw Edison for 25 years. She loved sports and animals and enjoyed playing baseball. She was a devoted wife.
Survivors include a sister, Orra Mae (Ken) Krueger of Minn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin in 1990; a brother, Reynold; and two sisters, Orvalyne and Jeanne.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday in the Madison Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services in the funeral home.

Helen Ann Yelton DeMay
Helen Ann Yelton DeMay, of Hemingway, SC, 58, wife of Charles L. DeMay, died Saturday, March 23, 2002 in a Charleston hospital.
A graveside service was held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, April 6, 2002 in the Garden of Devotion cemetery, Hemingway, SC.
Memorials may be made to the American Liver Foundation, P.O. Box 5218, Toms River, NJ 08754-9947.
Born in Elgin, IL, Mrs. DeMay was a daughter of the late Hubert Yelton and the late Ruth Metz Yelton. She was a homemaker, member of St. Patricks Catholic Church in Johnsonville, member of the Colonial Dames, DAR, Society of the Dames of Magna Carta, graduate of Elgin High School and received her associates degree from the Elgin Community College.
Surviving are her husband of the home; daughter, Kathryn Ann (Jack Lee McDaniel) DeMay of Hemingway, SC; brother, John (Roseann) Yelton of Delavan, WI; sister, Nancee Jones of Hampshire, IL; a number of nieces and nephews.
Morris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Glenn W. Muhr
Glenn W. Muhr, age 80, of Elgin, passed away Friday, April 12, 2002 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin. He was born July 13, 1921 in New Lebanon, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Martha Matthies Muhr. He had been a resident of Elgin since he was 12 years old. He co-owned Laid-Rite Carpet Service in Elgin before retiring.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Elgin.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary (Timothy) Bennington of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Diane Gumm of Elgin and Carol (Ron) Ally of Burlington; two sons, Steve (Iris) Muhr of Corpus Christi, TX and Bill (Kim) Muhr of Virginia Beach, VA; 12 grandchildren; also a sister, Joann Muhr of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, David Potts; wife, Elsie Jensen Muhr in 1997; also two brothers, Lloyd and Kenneth Muhr.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 15, 2002 at 1:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Elgin with Rev. Roger Pollock officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Monday from 12:30 P.M. until the time of services in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Good Shepherd Church Building Fund, 1111 Van St., Elgin, IL 60123.

Bernice M. Cilek
Bernice M. Cilek, of East Dundee, died on April 11, 2003 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. She was born on April 3, 1909 in Letts, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fry. Bernice was a resident of East Dundee since the early 1950's and was employed at Shakeproof of Elgin for 17 years.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Cilek of 34 years whom she married on May 21, 1968; daughters, Shirley (the late John) Boor of Gilberts and Judith Fannery at home; sister, Gloria Pope; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Flannery, sons, Bill, Harold, Joseph, two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services and interment will be private. Arrangements made by the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.

Dorothy L. Schoonhoven
Dorothy L. Schoonhoven, 84, of Elgin, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2003 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
She was born April 26, 1918 in Chicago to Henry and Elsie (nee Knorr) Neve.
She had been a School Bus Driver for School District U-46 for 12 years. She was a life member and Past President of Watch City VFW Post #1307 Women's Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, James Schoonhoven of Rockford and Paul Schoonhoven of Elgin; her daughter, Margo (Ernst) Lauber of Elgin; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin Schoonhoven whom she married on July 5, 1941 and preceded her on September 5, 1988; and three brothers.
Funeral Services will be on Monday, April 14, 2003 at 11 AM at the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Eun-Hye Choi with the First United Methodist Church, West Dundee. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday, April 13, 2003 from 3 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Elgin Crisis Center or to the Fox Valley Hospice. For further information call 847-742-2100.

Jeanne M. McLoughlin
Jeanne M. McLoughlin, 84, of Elgin passed away Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Wynscape Health Care in Wheaton. She was born June 21, 1919 in Chicago, the daughter of Carl and Martha Homuth Lange.
She was a previous resident of Keenyville and Dundee. She lived at Burnhamm Manor in Elgin for 13 years.
Survivors include six children; Terrance (Eileen) McLoughlin of St. Charles, Patricia (John) Kohler of Hampshire, Timothy (Denise) McLoughlin of Tampico, IL, Brian (Simone) McLoughlin of TX, Kevin (Deena) McLoughlin of Winfield, Shawn (Wendy) McLoughlin of St. Charles; fifteen grandchildren, John, Patti Ann, and Thomas Kohler, Justin McLoughlin, Ellen McLoughlin, Jason McLoughlin, Blake McLoughlin, Mara McLoughlin, Tracy McLoughlin, Shawna McLoughlin, Cory McLoughlin, Klye McLoughlin, Shawn McLoughlin, Nicole McLoughlin, and Michael McLoughlin; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bartholomew "Barney"; several sisters and brothers.
Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin with Fr. Geoffrey Wirth officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 9 p.m. at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park, Elgin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Elgin Senior Services or Fox Valley Hospice.
