Joyce Carol Northrop
Joyce Carol Northrop, 43, of Plato Center, IL passed away Sunday, April 11, 2004, after a long battle with cancer, in Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. She was born on June 3, 1960 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Theodore and Rosemary (Damico) Privitera. Joyce had been a Registered Nurse, and had worked at Alexian Brothers and Lutheran General Hospitals. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Elgin.
She is survived by her husband, James of Plato Center, whom she married on August 21, 1993; a daughter, Adrianna Joy Northrop; her parents of Elk Grove Village, IL; a brother, Steven (Dina) Privitera of Des Moines, IA; a sister, Diane (Norman) Rankin of Western Springs, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 16, 2004 at 10 AM in the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin (corner of Highland Ave. and St. Thomas More Dr.) with Rev. Andrew Hougan officiating. Burial will be in Queen of Heaven cemetery, Hillside, IL. Visitation will be on Thursday in the Cornerstone Methodist Church, 41W170 Russell Rd., Elgin, IL, 60123 from 4 to 9 PM and on Friday morning in the St. Thomas More Catholic Church from 9:15 AM until the time of services. Laird Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Fox Valley Hospice or Sarcoma Foundation of America, www.curesarcoma.org

Myra E. Fees
Myra E. Fees, age 53, of Batavia formerly of Elgin died Thursday at Firwood Nursing Home in Batavia under the loving care of Vitas Hospice after a long and heroic battle with cancer.
She was born October 11, 1951 in Chicago, IL.
Myra was a member of A 12 step program which gave extended life to her and her family. Before her illness she was a waitress for many years throughout Elgin and St. Charles.
She is survived by her two beautiful and caring daughters, Angela Marie (Joseph) Vruno of Geneva and Tammy Chamberlain of Elgin; her son, Nick Milas of Lake Moor, IL; one brother, Glen Altavare of Warrenville; a sister, Debbie Olsen of Las Vegas, Nevada; an uncle, Michael (Carmella) Sylvestro of Oceanside California, many nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones. Myra's biggest joy was her grandchildren, Sabrina Marie of Elgin and J.J. and Chloe Marie of Geneva and her higher power she called God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Margaret Olsen, two aunts and other loving family members.
She will always be remembered for her kindness and good heart towards others in their time of need.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday at the Yurs Funeral Home, St. Charles. Chaplain, Larry Schneider officiating. Burial will be at East Dundee cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 6:00 P.M. at the Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main Street, Rt 64 & Rt 25, St. Charles. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 143 First Street, Batavia, IL 60510.

Selma G. Holtz
Selma G. Holtz, 98, formerly of Elgin, IL passed away April 10, 2005 in Valley Center, CA. She was born September 18, 1906 in Rudd, IA. Selma was a country school teacher before moving to Elgin.
Many would remember Selma as the Welcome Wagon Hostess of Elgin. Selma's passion was helping people, while working as a Shaklee Distributer. She was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church in Elgin until she relocated to Valley Center, CA in 1996.
Selma was preceded in death by brothers, Stanley Witzel and Homer Witzel; sisters, Iola Morack and Edna Holtz.
She is survived by her daughter, Wanda (Bob) Carroll Valley Center, CA, Maryellen (Jim) Fogelquist/Coffy of Portland, OR; and son, Cecil (Madonna) Holtz of Elgin. In addition, she is survived by 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and a great great granddaughter.
Memorial services are planned in Valley Center and burial in Rudd, IA. Memorials may be made to the Valley Center Community Church, 29105 Valley Center Rd., P.O. Box 130, Valley Center, CA, 92082.

Theron Arlus Homuth
Theron Arlus Homuth, 82 , born October 13, 1922, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, March 12, 2005. A casual gathering for family and friends will be held in the Parlor of the Salem Methodist Church, 115 W. Lincoln, Barrington, IL on Saturday, April 16 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm in rememberance of "Homer".

Lynn Groth Stell
Lynn Groth Stell, age 43, of Sanford, died Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.
She was a graduate of Sanford Central High School, attended Jones Chapel UMC, worked as an office clerk for St. Charles Manufacturing and was an avid card and bingo player.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Jones Chapel UMC conducted by the Rev. Houston Blair. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Edward Ashley Stell of Sanford; three sons, Edward Bruce Stell of the home, Chadwick Aaron Stell of the home, Cota Dylan Stell of the home; her parents, Merlin and Elaine Groth of Broadway; three brothers, Gary Groth of Elgin, Kenneth Groth of Elgin, and Rickie Groth of Mahopac, NY; two sisters, Kim Britland of Charlotte, Paula Williams of Elizabethtown, NC; 14 nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Miller-Boles Funeral Home Friday 7 until 9.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3131 Wrightsville Ave., Wilmington, NC 28403.
Arrangements are being handled by the Miller-Boles Funeral Home.

Richard "Rich" Bartlett
Richard "Rich" Bartlett, 48, of Elgin died Saturday, April 14, 2001 in Elgin.
He was born October 30, 1952 in Orange, New Jersey, the son of Robert and Elinor Bartlett.
He had been a resident of Elgin for the past seven years and was employed by Printpack, Inc of Elgin.
Surviving are his parents of Elgin; a sister, Nancy (Dan) Wales of Plato Center; a brother, Rob (Betty Jo) Bartlett of Elgin; a niece; and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 10 AM in The Church of The Holy Innocents in Hoffman Estates (corner of Illinois Blvd and Tacker). Burial will be private.
Friends may call in the Laird Funeral Home in Elgin on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM.

Charles J. Benz
Charles J. Benz, 85, of Long Grove, formerly of Barrington, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2001.
He was born May 5, 1915 in Chicago, IL, the son of Lorenz and Theresa (Hagenmeier) Benz.
Charles was employed with Comm-Ed for 43 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church of West Dundee and a Founding Member of the Queen of Peace Knights of Columbus Council in Barrington.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores "Babe" (Siffermann) of Crystal Lake, IL; six children, Dr. Jerome (Paula) Benz, Charlene Benz, Mary Benz, Tom (Deborah) Benz, Bonnie (Tom) Cantwell and Jeanne (Mike) Pinter; eight grandchildren, Jerry, Nicholas, Nicole, Heidi and Michael Benz and Michael, Katie and David Pinter; and a great grandchild, Isabel Roji.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Timmy
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 12 Noon in the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, West Dundee with Rev. William Antillion officiating. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St. (Corner of Third and Oregon), West Dundee, and on Tuesday at the church starting at 11:30 AM until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Northeastern, IL, 410 S. Hager Ave, Barrington, IL, 60010 or Masses in his honor.

Stanley A. Butler, Jr.
Stanley A. Butler, Jr., 76, of Elgin passed away Saturday, April 7, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
He was born September 10, 1924 in Kenyon, Minnesota, the son of Stanley A. and Agnes Bergh Butler, Sr.
He has been a resident of Elgin since 1976. He was employed by the Milwaukee Road Railroad, starting as a railroad Telegrapher and retired as Director of Piggy Back Services. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Elgin and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Hartland, Wis.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Ross Butler whom he married on September 13, 1952; a daughter, Barbara Butler of Chicago; a son, David (Nancy) Butler of Waukesha, Wis; a grandson, Calvin Butler; a sister, Marjorie (Mick) Leitzke of Waukesha, Wis; a sister-in-law, RuthAnn (Jim) Blackwood of Waukesha, Wis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, April 21, 2001 at 11 AM in the First Congregational Church, Elgin. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Congregational Church. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.

Harriet Duensing
Harriet Duensing, 79, of Elgin died Saturday, April 14, 2001 in Sherman Hospital.
She was born January 2, 1922 in Kankakee, IL, the daughter of Edward and Lucille Siefert.
She had been a resident of Elgin most of her life. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Elgin, a member of the Ladies Aid of the church a member of the married Couples of the church, a former member of the Chancel Choir, a member of the Lutheran Missionary League and a 13 year volunteer at the Bethesda Thrift Shop in Crystal Lake.
Surviving are four sons, David (Mary) Duensing of Victorville, California, Dennis (Joy) Duensing and Brian (Linda) Duensing both of St. Charles, IL and Thomas (Tiffany) Duensing of Bartlett, IL; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilbert in 1999; and two brothers, Arthur and Donald Siefert.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 1 PM in St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Thomas Niermann officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery.
Friends may call in the Laird Funeral Home in Elgin on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers..., memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church.

Teresa Rotundo
Teresa Rotundo, 95, of Carpentersville died Thursday, April 12, 2001 in her home.
She was born April 18, 1905 in Siano, Italy, the daughter of Giovanni and Santa (Rubino) Cacia.
She was an 80 year resident of the Carpentersville area and a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Church. She married Raffaele Rotundo March 11, 1922 and came to America. Teresa proudly received her American Citizenship in 1922. Former owner of the Halfway House of East Dundee, tailor for B. G. Garments of Elgin, former Farmer and Nursery owner, The Original Pizza Chef for Masi's of Dundee, former employee of Moretti Fireworks Co.
She is survived by two sons, Louis (June) of Edgewater, FL and John (Gertrude) of Carpentersville; grandmother of 16; great grandmother of 22; and a sister, Anna Cacia of Siano, Italy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raffaele; four sisters, Pasqualine, Rosa, Angela and Maria; five brothers, Salvatore, Giuseppe, Taliano, Raffaele and Giovanni; a grandson, Ralph; and a daughter-in-law, Joyce.
Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at 10 AM in the St. Catherine of Siena Church with the Rev. Richard Rosinski officiating. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 17, 2001 from 4 to 9 PM in the Miller Funeral Home and in Church on Wednesday from 9 AM until time of Mass.
