Fred W. Harris Jr.
Fred W. Harris Jr., 56, of Elgin passed away Friday, May 6, 2005. He was born on September 16, 1948 in Elgin, IL, the son of Fred W. and Georgiana (Annis) Harris. Fred was a loyal member of the Moose Lodge 799 and the Elgin's Owls Club. He was an automobile mechanic for many years, working for McLean Amoco in Elgin and then Martin Service in South Elgin.
He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Barbara Cox; his beloved son, Anthony; and daughter, Rebecca both at home; brothers, Daniel (Julie) Harris of Elgin and Jeffrey Harris of Monett, MO; sister, Kathleen (Harold) Pierce of Cassville, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, George Harris.
Visitation will be at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin from 4 to 8 PM on Tuesday, May 10, 2005. Cremation will be after visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for their wishes.

Dennis John Molik
Dennis John Molik, age 68, a resident of Streamwood, IL for 35 years, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2004. He was born February 28, 1936 in Chicago, IL.
Dennis was a retired Sales Manager for Standard Automotive.
Survivors include his three children, Jeffrey (Linda) of Elgin, Denise (Paul) Crager of Elgin and Gregory (Maryjean) of Bloomingdale; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Nichlaus and Aimee Molik, Brandon and Jordan Crager, Michael and Vincent Molik; and two brothers, Keith and Ron (Gloria) Molik.
He was preceded in death by his wife, of 33 years, the late Cynthia (nee Blazek) Molik.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at 8:45 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd. (at Barrington Rd.), Streamwood/Schaumburg, IL, to St. John the Evangelist Church for Mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial at Resurrection cemetery, Justice, IL.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 from 3-9 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home. For further information, call (630/847) 289-8054.

Mabelle A. Welk
Mabelle A. Welk, 81, of Elgin, formerly of Schaumburg, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2004 in the Apostolic Christian Rest Haven Nursing Home. She was born November 19, 1922 in Pleasant Ridge, Indiana, the daughter of Joseph and Emma Welk. She had been employed by Wilton Tool in Palatine before retiring. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Elgin.
Surviving are a brother, Roy Welk of Park Ridge, IL; a sister, Doris (Howard) Haury of Phoenix, Arizona; three nieces, Patricia, Kimberly and Sharon; two great nieces, Jodie and Jenna; and two great nephews, Christopher and Jeffrey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Evelyn; and a nephew, Gerald.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 AM in the Apostolic Christian Church, 2740 W. Highland Ave., Elgin. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian cemetery in Elgin. Visitation will be in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin on Monday from 4:30 PM to 9 PM and then on Tuesday at the church from 9 AM until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Apostolic Christian Church.

Kristen Marie (Brant) Hawkins
On May 4, 2005 Kristen Brant Hawkins passed away in Benzie County. Kris was born September 21, 1957 in Fairborn, Ohio and was baptized at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin, Illinois where she was a student. She was a graduate of DePauw University in 1979 with a double major in Science and Elementary Education.
On February 4, 1985 she married Steven J. Hawkins of Benzonia and they celebrated 20 years together. Kris had a special love for Northern Michigan. She was inspired by her good friends, Jim and Mollie Rogers, to contribute to the Crystal Lake area by pursuing a career as a builder of fine homes, which she did for 20 years.
She loved nature and the out-of-doors in every season. Family and good friends will remember her pie baking, her gardening, her love of discussions around the dining room table and her new joy as a member of First Church of Christ Scientist. She was a reflection of her faith.
Kris is survived by her husband, Steve; her parents, Richard and Helen Brant of Leland; two brothers, Eric (Kim) Brant of Leland and Mark (Tracy) Brant of Bay Village, Ohio; and two nephews, Andrew and Matthew Brant.
A private family service will be held. Memorial donations may be directed to the organization of one's choice.
She was a special gift given to us for a little while.

Gregory F. Zajack
Gregory F. Zajack, 38, of Elgin passed away Friday, May 6, 2005 on his motorcycle in a multi-car accident in Warrenville, IL.
He was born in Chicago, IL on February 8, 1967 and was the son of Frank and Marlene (Knych) Zajack. Greg was known as "Flap" to several of his friends and coworkers. Greg was a devoted father and husband that also had a passion for riding. He will be greatly missed by those that knew him. He coached the football and baseball teams that his sons played on. Greg worked 18 years as a lithographer for continental Web Press in Itasca, IL. He married Ursula Payne in 1993.
Survived by parents; wife; two sons, Anthony and Dylan, both at home; sisters, Sheryl (Tom) Spooner of Antioch, IL, Jennifer Zajack of Streamwood, IL and Susan Zajack of Elgin, IL; several aunts and uncles; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, May 12, 2005 at 11:30 Am in the St. Patricks Crane Rd. Church, located 1/2 mile west of Randall Rd. between Bolcam Rd. and Silver Glen Rd. in St. Charles, IL. Visitation will be 10:30 AM at the church until time of services and Wednesday, May 11, 2005 from 4-9 PM at the LAIRD FUNERAL HOME, ELGIN 310 So. State St. (847)741-8800. Burial will be in Saint Michael The Archangel Catholic cemetery, Palatine, IL.

Adrian R. Grabowski
Adrian R. Grabowski, 88 of East Dundee died Sunday, May 9, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He was born on March 17, 1916 in Chicago.
He was a 15 year resident of the Dundee area and a former many year resident of Roselle. Mr. Grabowski worked in the Building trades as a Siding Contractor for most of his professional career. He was a member of St. Catherine Of Siena Church, West Dundee. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a World War II veteran.
He is survived by his six children, Bruce of East Dundee, Brian (Laura) of Algonquin, Diane Hansen of Carpentersville, Patricia (Joe) Isaia of Carpentersville, Ellen (Michael) Kochevar of Barrington Hills and Nancy (Terry) Dangerfield of St. Charles; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond of Barrington; one sister, Elaine Duccomun of Ladysmith, WI; many nieces, nephews, and friends, also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 53 years, Lorraine C. (nee Lauer) Grabowski on May 12, 1995. They married on January 17, 1942. Also preceding him in death were a son-in-law, Don Hansen; and a sister, Gertrude Peters.
Family and friends will meet for funeral mass on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the St. Catherine Of Siene Church, West Dundee. The Rev. David Austin will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 4-9 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Thursday in church from 9 a.m. until time of mass. Bess C. Griparis (nee Cordogan)
80 years old. passed away Saturday, May 8, 2004 at the new Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, following a three year battle with liposarcoma cancer.
preceded in death by her parents, William and Helen Cordogan; and her brothers, George and Gus Cordogan.
Survived by her son, Skip Griparis of Bolingbrook; daughter, Andrea (Artis) Mebane of Bolingbrook; brother, Ted (Mary) Cordogan of Elgin; granddaughters, Melina Rose and Carmen Eleni Mebane. Also survived by former husband, Andrew Griparis of Joliet; and his sisters, brothers, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Bess also had many special cousins, nieces and nephews. Among her many close friends are her long-time bridge partners, David Au and Pat Cipriani.
Bess was born in 1942 in Elgin, Illinois and graduated from Elgin High School. She married in 1947 and moved to Joliet where she resided until the end of her life. Bess was regarded as one of the best women duplicate bridge players in the Midwest and was well-respected in the bridge world. She achieved the rare Gold Life Master status with the American Contract Bridge League and was ranked in the 95th percentile among duplicate bridge players nationwide. She owned and operated Joliet Duplicate Bridge Club for 23 years. In recent years, she was part operator of the Joliet-New Lenox Bridge Club.
Bess retired from the Burr Oak Library System in Shorewood 13 years ago after over twenty years as director of acquisitions. During her retirement, she kept active playing bridge, traveling to bridge tournaments, and golfing at the Joliet Park District golf courses.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 13, 2004 at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home from 3 to 9 PM. Funeral Services will be Friday, May 14, 2004 at the funeral home at 11 AM followed by cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Will county Humane Society may be made. May her memory be eternal.

Donald R. Tessmer
Donald R. Tessmer, 76, of Huntley passed away Sunday, May 9, 2004 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
He was born January 11, 1928 in Huntley, the son of William and Meta (Bauer) Tessmer. He was a lifelong resident of the Huntley area and served in the U.S. Air Force following W.W.II. Don married Barbara "Bobbie" Rath on October 10, 1953 in Dundee.
Mr. Tessmer was a truck driver for many years with Cole Trucking Co. and Dean Foods, both of Huntley. He retired in 1990 after serving as road commissioner for Grafton Township for nine years.
Don was very active in his community, serving as a volunteer with the Huntley Fire Department for nearly 25 years and as a trustee and past president of the Huntley Fire Protection District Board. For over 30 years, Don served as a trustee and as president of the Huntley cemetery Association. He was also a former precinct committeeman of the Republican Party in McHenry County.
Mr. Tessmer was a long time member of the First Congregational Church of Huntley, a member of the Elgin Moose Lodge #799, and of the V.F.W. Post 5040 of Woodstock. He was also a lifetime member of the Huntley Lions Club, having served as president and was also a recipient of the "Lion of the Year" award. Mr. Tessmer was a Huntley Little League coach for many years, as well as a coach of the Huntley Traveling Team.
Surviving are his wife, "Bobbie"; four children, Bobbi (John) Drafall of Huntley, Brian Tessmer of Woodstock, Brenda (Rick) Rossi of Huntley, and Becky (David) Gunger of Rolling Meadows; ten grandchildren, Matthew and Juli Drafall, Shaun, Tiffany, and Ashley Tessmer, Deanna Rossi, Michelle and Tanya Lovins, Zachary and Alex Gunger; a sister, Betty Mattingly of Fremont, WI.
Mr. Tessmer was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Delores DeWart and Dorothy Schaller.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 13, 2004 at the First Congregational Church, 11628 E. Main Street, Huntley with Dr. Walter I. Thyng officiating. Burial will be in the Huntley cemetery. Visitation wil be held Wednesday from 3 to 9 p.m. at the James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St., Huntley.

Margaret L. Turner
Margaret L. Turner, 85, of Wheeling, formerly of Elgin.
Beloved wife of the late William J. Turner for 25 years; loving mother of Janice (Perry) Wells and Marc (Nancy) Turner; dear grandmother of David (Lynn), Daniel and Brian Wells; great grandmother of Camille Houston.
She was born on December 15, 1918 in rural McHenry and passed away May 3 at Highland Park Hospital. She was a 25 year employee of Cook Publishing Company, Elgin, IL. Interment private. For info 847-537-6600.

Sandra June Woolbright
Sandra June Woolbright, age 64, of DeKalb, IL died Friday, May 7, 2004 in her residence. She was born on June 15, 1939 in LaCrosse County, Wisconsin and was the daughter of Daniel and Viola (Nehls) Rajonis.
Sandra was a devoted and loving wife of 47 years to Carlos Woolbright, whom she married on September 1, 1956 in Oregon, IL. Sandra and Carlos were a team their whole married life. Sandra was a partner in business with Town and Country Homes, and if she was not working, Sandra and Carlos were showing their prized Rottweilers across the country. Sandra and Carlos had been living in the DeKalb Community since 1967, moving here from Rochelle. Sandra was a devoted member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in DeKalb.
Survivors include her husband, Carlos of DeKalb; sons Brian (Carol) Woolbright, Timothy Woolbright, Michael (Debbie) Woolbright all of DeKalb; a daughter, Linda (Don) Grivetti of MI; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Earl "Chip" (Stacey) Gable Jr. of Sycamore.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in DeKalb with Pastor E. George Krause officiating. Cremation will take place in the Finch cemetery following the funeral service. Visitation was held on Monday, May 10, 2003 at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be established at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Ronan-Moore-Finch Funeral Home, 310 Oak St., DeKalb, IL 60115.
