Franklin J. Kaiser
Franklin J. Kaiser, 72, of Elgin passed away Friday, May 14, 2004 in the Tower Hill Health Care Center, South Elgin. He was born on November 8, 1931 in Elgin, the son of Franklin and Angie Kaiser. Franklin graduated from Crystal Lake High School in 1950. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Franklin had worked at Quaker Oats in Barrington, IL and the City of Elgin prior to his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, wood working and traveling, Franklin was a friend to many, and will be missed by all who knew him. He was a member of the Golden "K" Kiwanis Club of Elgin, the American Legion Post #57, the National Association of Power Engineers, the International Association of Auditorium Managers and President of the Elgin Parkinson's support group.
Survivors include his wife, Flora M. Kaiser whom he married on July 11, 1956; three daughters, Roberta (Daniel) Wayeshe, Laurie Kaiser and Susan (Lorrel) Petty all of Elgin; seven grandchildren, whom he loved to spend time with; Franklin, Michelle and Daniel Wayeshe, Emily and Morgan Smith and Nicole and Ashley Petty; two brothers, Floyd (Helen) Kaiser of McHenry, IL and Douglas (Barbara) Kaiser of Beloit, WI; and many nieces and nephews. He preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Edwin Kaiser.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 12 Noon in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8 PM and on Tuesday from 11:30 AM until the time of services in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Research Society, Division of Neurology, Glenbrook Hospital, 2100 Pfingston Rd, Glenview, IL, 60025.

Paul N. Monkemeyer
Paul N. Monkemeyer, 68, of Plano, IL, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2005 at Rush-Copley Medical Center, Aurora, IL. He was born on March 31, 1937 in Aurora, IL, the son of Fred August and Selma M. (Behrens) Monkemeyer.
Paul was a long-time member of the Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church in Yorkville, IL. He farmed in the area all his life and was a member of the Kendall County Farm Bureau. He loved art and enjoyed drawing, and spent many happy hours doing crossword puzzles. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, nephew and cousin, who will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his brother, Gerald R. (Joy) Monkemeyer of Elgin, IL; his five nephews, Bruce (Karen) Monkemeyer of Newark, IL, Robert (Pam) Monkemeyer of Sheridan, IL, Brian (Penny) Monkemeyer of Millbrook, IL, Jon (Carolyn) Monkemeyer of Rockford, IL, and James (Sandra) Monkemeyer of West Chicago, IL; his sister-in-law, Renee L. Monkemeyer of Newark, IL; as well as several aunts, uncles, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Selma Monkemeyer; and his brother, Ernest Monkemeyer.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at the Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8609 Rt. 47 in Yorkville, IL. Interment will follow in the Cross Evangelical Lutheran cemetery, Yorkville, IL.
Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 W. South Street, Plano, IL.

Elizabeth Scholer
Elizabeth Scholer, 85, of Rochelle, formerly of Pingree Grove, passed away Saturday night, May 14, 2005 at the Franklin Grove Nursing Center in Franklin Grove.
She was born October 24, 1919 in Bancroft, Iowa the daughter of Nels and Hannah Christensen. Elizabeth married Martin A. Scholer on February 22, 1944 in Huntley and they farmed in rural Hampshire before moving to Pingree Grove.
Mrs. Scholer was a longtime member of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Pingree Grove. She had been employed at Playskool Mfg. in Hampshire and continued working until this past February, the last 12 years at the Target Store in Elgin.
Surviving are her daughter, Janet Dorwaldt of Rochelle; three grandchildren, Gregory (Christine) Dorwaldt of St. Charles, Geofrey Dorwaldt of Rochelle and Jenifer (Brian) Beck of Elkhorn, WI; six great grandchildren, Rachel, Anthony, Andrew, Wyatt, Jeniveve and Larry; two sisters, Ruth (late Stanley) Petersen of Elgin and Caroline (late Richard) Reinking of Elizabeth City, NC; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin on June 16, 1978; son-in-law, Larry Dorwaldt on April 28, 1999; and five sisters, Dagmar, Louise, Irma, Daisy and Gloria.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, May 18, at the James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St., Huntley with the Rev. Harold Ross officiating. Burial will be in the Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Edna (Skowbo) Siracusa
Edna (Skowbo) Siracusa, 84, of East Dundee, IL, passed away May 13, 2005, at Governors Park Nursing Home, Barrington, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Philip, Howard and Stuart.
Edna is survived by one brother, John of Grafton, WI and her dear husband of 59 years, Stephen J. Siracusa of East Dundee; one son, Dennis (Beverly) of Charlotte, NC, two daughters, Diane Siracusa (Tad Bero) of Barrington, IL and Joan Wakeman (Randy) of Littleton, CO and eight grandchildren.
Edna grew up in Michigan and Iowa and later went to work for the United States government. During World War II, she was assigned to work at the Nuremburg, Germany trials under the direction of Chief Justice Robert Jackson. While raising her family, Edna's many talents included soprano opera singing, gourmet cooking and clothing design.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in West Dundee on Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at 10 a.m. Reverand David Austin will be the celebrant.

Percy W. Burris
Percy W. Burris, age 80, of Elgin passed away Thursday, May 16, 2002 at Manor Care Health Services, Elgin. He was born February 1, 1920 in Mahomen, Minnesota the son of Ray and Hilma Helgeson Burris. He was a graduate of the Illinois School for the Deaf, Jacksonville, IL. He had been a resident of Elgin for the past 50 years. He was employed by Cramer's Dry Cleaning in Elgin and Dunton Dry Cleaners in Arlington Heights before retiring.
He was a member and past president of the Chicago Club of the Deaf. He was a member of the Illinois Association of the Deaf. He was an avid bowler and helped organize numerous bowling tournaments.
Surviving are 2 daughters - JoAnn Woodall of Hampshire, Kathy (John) Peden of Loveland, Colo. 2 sons - Steve (Chris) Burris of Elgin, Vern (Debra James) Burris of Elgin. 8 grandchildren - Melissa Woodall, Corinne Woodall, Jeremy Kanter, Jack and Samantha Peden, Steven (Jennifer), Jennifer and Patrick Burris. 3 great grandchildren - Skylar Jensen, Grant and Jack Burris. 3 step grandchildren - William, David and Dana Shand. 1 step great grandson - Tyler. 2 brothers - Douglas (Regina) Burris of Granite City, IL. Darrel (Bonnie) Burris of Burnett, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Wife - Lois Johnson Burris in 1987. 1 brother - Harold Burris.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Richard Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Friday 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, Barrington.

Bonnie Jean Christensen
Bonnie Jean Christensen, 78, of Carpentersville, died Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at her home. She was born in Chicago on February 16, 1924. She was a 21 year resident of Carpentersville.
She is survived by three children, Howard (Denise) Christensen of Rockford, Virginia (Steve) Jozefowicz and Janet (Edward) Dorsey, both of Carpentersville; a granddaughter, Betty Jean Graham.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 18, 2002 from 3-5:00 P.M. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.

Donald L. "Tiny" Greer
Donald L. "Tiny" Greer, age 46, of Hampshire, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2002 in his home. He was born July 30, 1955 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of Lawrence and Marlene Rife Greer. He had been a resident of the Elgin area since he was seven years old. He was founder and owner of Greer Excavating of Hampshire.
He was a past member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #799 of Elgin. He was a member of Northwood Passage Snowmobile Club of Wisconsin. He enjoyed outdoor activities including snowmobiling, jet skiing and boating.
Surviving are his wife, Bette Massion Greer, whom he married on March 27, 1971; three children, Donald Greer, Jr. of Hampshire, Kelly Greer of Hampshire and Matthew Greer of Hampshire; two grandchildren, Jason and Breanne; two brothers, Ronald L. (Rita) Greer of South Elgin and David R. (Susan) Greer of Algonquin; also many, many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2002 at 10:00 A.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Olin Sletto officiating. Burial will be in Doty cemetery, Hampshire. Visitation will be held Friday from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Diabetes Association.

Florence V. Heinz (nee Hoard)
Florence V. Heinz, age 84, of Arlington Heights.
She was born August 28, 1917 in New York Mills, MN. She worked as a cook.
preceded in death by her husband, Carl; one brother, Harold Hoard; and one sister Dorothy (Ray).
Survived by Dean (Patricia) Heinz and Larry Heinz. Also four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Heinz will be Friday, May 17, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at The Lutheran Home, 800 W. Oakton, Arlington Heights, IL. Internment Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin, IL. Marvin Douglas "Doug" Oglesby
Marvin Douglas "Doug" Oglesby, 42, of South Elgin, passed away Monday, April 29, 2002 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital. Doug fought kidney, bladder, and liver cancer for the last 18 months. He was born January 4, 1960 in Naples, Florida and was the son of Marvin and Christine Oglesby. Doug graduated from Elgin High School in 1978. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1979-82. He was a 20 year member of the Illinois Section of the PGA of America, and had worked as an Assistant Golf Pro at Randall Oaks and Bonnie Dundee Golf Courses, Elgin Country Club, Pheasant Run Golf Club, St. Charles Country Club, Fox Bend Golf Course in Oswego, and was Head Pro at Fox Run Golf Course in Elk Grove Village, IL, and was presently employed at Orchard Valley Golf Club in Aurora, IL. Along with his Team, Doug won the National Oldsmobile Scramble Golf Tournament in Orlando, FL in 1994.
Doug was given his first set of golf clubs (consisting of 2 clubs) when he was first able to stand up in his play pen. He started tagging along, and hanging around his dad's Pro Shop at Elgin Country Club at age six, and his career was started.
Doug will be lovingly missed by his wife, Adriana of South Elgin; a son, Jarrett Douglas Oglesby of South Elgin; a step-son, Noe Perez of Mexico; his parents of Elgin; three sisters, Kim Waughon of Elgin, Denise Hopkins of Georgia and Pam Oglesby of Elgin; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; father and mother-in-law, Francisco and RosaMaria Perez; sisters and brothers-in-law, Susanna (Victor) Albarez, Anna (Rocky) Cano, Nelly (Gerardo) Perez, Brenda (Jose) Perez and Rebecca Perez; Jarrett's mother, Kathy (Steve) Schweisthal; also a multitude of close friends.
preceded in death by his grandparents and two uncles.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private. Visitation will be on Sunday from 12:00 noon until the time of services in the funeral home. Omission of flowers is requested with memorials made to an education fund for Jarrett Oglesby or Noe Perez, c/o Marvin Oglesby or the American Cancer Society.

James D. O'Hara
James D. O'Hara, 76, of Streamwood, IL passed away Thursday, May 16, 2002 at Sherman Hospital. He was born November 4, 1925 in Hammond, Indiana.
James was a retired SSG in the US Army and Letter Carrier for the U.S. Post Office. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Streamwood Lodge 2055 and the Owner of O'Hara and Sons Locksmith Service.
James is survived by his wife, Lucienne (Becker) O'Hara; his children, William James O'Hara of South Elgin, Robert (Pamela) of Reedsburg, WI, Daniel (Sarah) of Kirkland, IL and Lucienne (Marty) Krizka of Joliet, IL; seven grandchildren, Angelmarie, Kelly, Jessica, Jason, Cassandra, Marty Jr. and Jennifer; and his two sisters, Rosemary Becker and Eleanor Props.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Rose (Lindberg) O'Hara; his brother, Larry O'Hara; and his sister, Dorothy Thomas.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2002, 7:30 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd. (at Barrington Rd.) Streamwood, IL 60107.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 18, 2002 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 1640 Greenmeadow Blvd., (at Barrington Rd.) Streamwood, IL 60107.

Ethel Reinhardt
Ethel Reinhardt, of Elgin. Born June 24, 1930 to Forest and Gladys (Sweeney) Burley of Granite City, IL. Lived in Alton/Godfrey until 1997 when she moved to Elgin.
Ethel graduated from Alton High School in 1948, Alton Memorial School of Nursing in 1953 and Washington University of St. Louis in 1955 with a B.S. Ethel began and ended her 40 year nursing career teaching students. She served as Director of Nursing Service at St. Joseph Hospital, Alton and Associate Director at Barnes Hospital of St. Louis. She also worked many years in the St. Louis Regional Hospital systems.
She had a great passion for Mah Jong, shopping, Christmas, Santas and reading.
Ethel is survived by a daughter, Dee (Rick) Reinhardt Behning; a granddaughter, Janay (Alan) Arndt; a sister, Hazel (Arbie) Wooten; also grand-dogs, Chloe and Aruba.
She was preceded in death by Norma Davis; her parents; also her aunt and uncle, Beulah and Joe Winters.
Family and friends will gather at the funeral home Friday, May 17, 2002, 3-8:00 P.M. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 18, 2002 at 10:00 A.M. at O'Connor & Homeier Funeral Home, 364 Division St., Elgin, Fr. Joe Kulak officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to: American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or St. Laurence Renovation Fund.
