Susan (Cerna) Gonzalez
Susan (Cerna) Gonzalez, 51, of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital. She was born August 25, 1950 in Elgin, the daughter of Walter and Mildred Aurand.
She is survived by her husband, Javier Gonzalez of Elgin; a daughter, Angela Rosas of Batavia; two sons, Joseph Rosas of Elgin and Benito Rosas (Kayla) of Elgin; four grandchildren, Ruben Flores, Elora Rosas, Isaiah Rosas and Elijah Rosas; a brother, Richard Aurand.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be on Friday from 3-8:00 P.M. in the O'Connor & Homeier Funeral Home. Rosary Service at 6:00 P.M. Funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas More Church in Elgin at 9:30 A.M. Burial will be at Bluff City cemetery. Arrangements by O'Connor & Homeier Funeral Home, 364 Division St. (847)741-1400.

Kathleen A. Scott
Kathleen A. Scott, 72, of Hampshire, passed away suddenly Wednesday, June 5, 2002 in McHenry. She was born November 30, 1929 in Regina, Saskatchewan, the daughter of Leonard and Margaret (O'Connor) Mullaley. Kathy married James Scott on December 31, 1949 in DeKalb and they had been Hampshire residents since 1960.
Mrs. Scott was a member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church of Hampshire and had been employed at Block's Grocery in Hampshire for over 15 year. She was a big fan of the Wheel of Fortune and other TV game shows.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathy Scott of Hampshire and Sharon (Dennis) Bowen of Marengo; a son, Michael (Sheila) Scott of McHenry; seven grandchildren, Marcy Stojan, Brandon Scott, Jeffrey Stojan, Derrick Bowen, Kelsey Bowen, Jacalyn and Danielle Scott; a great grandson, Michael Scott-Williams; a brother, William (Pat) Mullaley of North Carolina and a sister, Donna Mathis of New Berlin, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jim, on September 22, 1990.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 A.M. Saturday, June 8, 2002 at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 297 E. Jefferson St., Hampshire with the Rev. Joseph Nicolosi officiating. Burial will be in the Hampshire Center cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire.

Taniquati L. Weatherspoon
Taniquati L. Weatherspoon, 27, of Elgin passed away Monday in Delnor Community Hospital, Geneva, IL. She was born April 7, 1975 in Elgin and was the daughter of Larry Weatherspoon and Oletha Montegomery-Kerrens. Taniquati was employed with Greenwich Financial for many years. She was devoted to her job and family.
Survivors-Her Mother of Elgin. 4-Brothers-Harry O. Puckett, Omar Weatherspoon, Telly Weatherspoon and Gregory Welch; 2-Sisters-LaToya Kerrens and Chelsey Miles; and a host of Family and Friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 8, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. in the Church of the Living Gospel, 1515 Dundee Ave., Elgin with Rev. Willie Tate officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin, IL. Visitation will be on Saturday starting at 9:00 A.M. until the time of services in the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family. Laird Funeral in charge of arrangements.

Edwin L. Cahill
Edwin L. Cahill, 89, of Elgin passed away Friday, June 6, 2003 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born August 12, 1913 in Elgin the son of Richard P. and Alice Cahill.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elgin, a past member of the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #737, a past member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #799, a past member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Club. He worked for the Elgin National Watch Company and Starro Precision Products before retiring.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel; a son, Richard P. (Jacqueline Tredup) Cahill of Elgin; a daughter, Kathleen (Lanny) Mabus of Hot Springs, AR; a brother, Richard (Lucille) Cahill of Ontarioville; nine grandchildren, Sean and Carrie Cahill of Elgin, Elizabeth (Jerome) Skowronski of Huntley, Coleen (Samuel) Acevedo of Elgin, Timothy Cahill of Elgin, Joan Klotz of Lansing, MI, Nanette (Geoff) Jones of Fife Lake, MI, Jennifer Mabus of Jacksonville, FL, Greg (Charlene) Tredup of Elgin; thirteen great-grandchildren, Dakota and Kiernan Cahill, Jake and Samantha Skowronski, Cheyanne, Connor and Taylor Acevedo, Jason and Jarrod Jones, Thomas and Andrew Klotz, Jordan and Tyler Tredup; one nephew, Michael (Kathy) Cahill of Sedona, AZ.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Richard Cahill.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2003 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church (215 Thomas More Drive). Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Monday from 9:30 until the time of Mass at church. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin. Memorials may be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Association.

Christine R. Davey
Christine R. Davey, 78, of Marmion, Illinois formerly of Elgin, Illinois passed away Thursday, June 5, 2003 at Heartland Regional Medical Center, Marion. She was born July 19, 1924 in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky, the daughter of William and Lillie Isaacs Payne. She had been a resident of Elgin for most of her life and had been a resident of Marion since 1994. She had been employed by the Elgin National Watch Co., Elgin Metal Casket Co. and Shedds Food Products in Elgin before retiring.
Survivng are her daughter, Diane (William) Phemister of Marion; her grandson, Brian (Trisha) Phemister of Marion; 4 step-grandchildren, Mitch and Mark Phemister of Marion, Billy Phemister of Monee, IL, Beth Ann (William) Schmanski of Crete, IL; three brothers, George, Art and Jim (Jackie) Payne; one sister, Mary (Donald) Rich.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, William Glenn "Pete" Payne; two sisters, Oma Tillmann and Bonnie Martin.
Graveside services will be held Monday, June 9, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. There will be no visitation. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.

Charles O. Pennington
Charles O. Pennington, 71, of Elgin died Wednesday, June 4 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. He was born June 19, 1931 in Virginia to Arthur and Carolyn (Byrd) Pennington.
Charles had served in the Air Force for 10 years. He had been a member of Genoa Masons for over 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Emma; his sons, Ralph (Bonnie) and Jerry (Lydia), both of Elgin, Walter (Karen) of Georgia, Charles (Amy) of Cary; his daughters, Carolyn (Roger) Schellonberger of Aurora, Early (Tutch) Shirane of Connecticut, Jackie (Bob) Bostrom of Kildeer and Emma (Larry) Joy of Wooddale; his siblings, Randolph, Doris and Vie; 22 grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and nine brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel with Rev. Thomas O'Connor of St. Paul's United Church of Christ officiatiing. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park. His family will greet friends between 10 and 11 a.m. on Monday at the chapel.

Georgia Lee Stewart
Georgia Lee Stewart, 62, of Elgin passed away Saturday, May 31, 2003 at Sherman Hospital.
Born to Willie Stewart and Lilie Woods.
She loved to shop and cook and enjoyed being dressed up and looking good.
Survived by ten children, Georgia Sharpe, Patricia Stewart, Anthony Stewart, Gwendell Stewart, Christine Stewart, Earl Stewart, Michelle Stewart, James Stewart, Eric Stewart and Rosetta Stewart; three brothers, S.T. Stewart, Jim Stewart and Charlie Stewart; a sister, Clara Mae Whitt; 28 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Hattie and Juanita; and a brother, Willie Jr.
Services were held Friday, June 6, 2003 at Living Gospel Church of God in Christ. Burial was at Bluff City cemetery. O'Connor & Homeier Funeral Home, 847-741-1400.

Edna E. Stirmell
Edna E. Stirmell, 87, of Carpentersville died Thursday, June 5, 2003 at the Sherman Westcourt in Elgin. She was born in Chicago on July 16, 1915, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Redman.
Mrs. Stirmell was a 26 year resident of the area.
Survivors include her daughters, Janice Derengowski of West Dundee and Nancy Cooper of Chicago; a grandson, Jay Derengowski of West Dundee; a granddaughter, Lisa Derengowski of Algonquin.
Mrs. Stirmell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Christian in 1977; two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the Algonquin cemetery, Algonquin. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-6 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.

James William "Billy" Boyd
James William "Billy" Boyd, 76, of Elgin passed away Saturday, June 5, 2004 in his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 25, 1928 in Nashville, TN and was the son of James Oscar and Cora (Johnson) Boyd. James was a veteran and served in the U.S. Navy.
He graduated in 1952 from David Lipscomb College. James then moved to Racine, WI and worked as a Preacher for the Church of Christ. In 1958, he moved to St. Paul, MN where he preached for the St. Paul Church of Christ, during this time he received a Masters Degree from the University of Minnesota. In 1966 he relocated to IL and preached in Glen Ellyn, Elgin and Downers Grove. He also attended Northern Illinois University. James retired from the College of DuPage, where he was the Professor of Computer Science, in 1992. And from 1993-2003 he spent his winters in Tucson, AZ. He was a member and Elder of the Congdon Ave. Elgin Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine, whom he married on August 6, 1950; three children, Kenneth (Vicky) Boyd of Tucson, AZ, Linda (Don) Neff of Elgin and Barb (Rick) Westbrook of Richmond, MO; nine grandchildren, David (Gina) Boyd, Tayna (Paul) Orgain, Bryan and Jessica Boyd, Holly (Aaron) Nicholson, Heather Neff, Caleb, Britni and Becca Westbrook; a great grandchild, Isaac Boyd; four brothers, Bobby (Ruth), Leon (Jo), Walter (Saundra) and Don (Debbie) Boyd; a sister, Jeanne (Farris) Parham; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sandy Boyd in 1988; and a sister.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Shane Scott officiating. Burial will be in Nashville, TN. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Sherman Hospital Cancer Care Center.

Ruth A. Evenson
Ruth A. Evenson, 62, of West Dundee died Sunday, June 1, 2003 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born in Elgin on May 30, 1941. Ruth was a life long resident of the area and a 33 year employee of ACME Manufacturing in Carpentersville.
Survivors include her mother, Minnie Hoeske of West Dundee; a daughter, Jacqueline "Jacki" (Peter) Ford-Guy of West Dundee; a son, Edward; five grandchildren, Riley Ford, Joshua Evenson, Tiffany Ford, Jodi Evenson and Rodney Carroll; one great-grandson, Preston Rollo; long-time companion, Robert Henshaw of West Dundee.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Family and friends will meet for a service celebrating Ruth's life on Saturday, June 14, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Windridge Memorial Park cemetery, Cary. Inurnment will follow the service. The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.

David P. Gunn
David P. Gunn, 38, of South Elgin passed away Saturday in Sherman Hospital, Elgin. He was born on December 23, 1965 in Elgin. David was a graduate of Elgin High School in 1984. He enjoyed riding his Harley Motorcycle. David will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne (Rios) of South Elgin; his mother, Ruth (James) Hahn of Hampshire, IL; his father, James (Patricia) Gunn of Geneva, IL; his sister, Jennifer (Daniel ) Straka of South Elgin; his two brothers, John (Sonja) Hahn of Rockford, IL and James (Carol) Gunn of Elgin, IL; paternal grandparents, Wilbur and Mary Gunn of Holcombe, WI; maternal grandparents, Louetta McCormick of Marion, IL and Archie (Ruby) Capron of Cypress, IL; and step brothers and sisters, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Mac McCormick.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in South Elgin cemetery, South Elgin, IL. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 9 PM in the funeral home.

David P. Vance
David P. Vance, 56, of Carpentersville died Saturday, June 5, 2004 at his home after an extensive battle with cancer. He was born in Drakesboro, Kentucky on December 9, 1947. David was a many year resident of the Carpentersville area. He was a 25 year employee of Continental Datalabel Co. of Elgin. He served in the United States Marine Corp and was a Viet Nam conflict veteran. He was a social member of the Tri-Cities VFW Post #2298 in West Dundee. He was a member of the Northside Baptist Church, Chicago. David was a very active member of the Carpentersville L.O.O.M. # 1958. He served on the Ritual Team and received the "Moose Man of the Year" multiple times.
He is survived by his parents, Damon and Margie (nee Hunt) Vance of Carpentersville; his brother, John (Ruby) Vance of Belvidere; his sisters, Carol (Dan) Chapman of Carpentersville, Judy (Rich) Filip of Crystal Lake and Robin (Mark) Kolmodin of Homer Glen, IL; his uncle, Bob Hunt of Beechmont, Kentucky; and his aunt Betty Hunt of Beechcreek, Kentucky. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Vance; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Hunt; and a brother, Roger Dale Vance.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Funeral Services and Burial will be in Ebenezer, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made either to the American Cancer Society or the Loyola University Medical Center Cancer Research Center.
