Tore Thelander, 92, of Elgin passed away Thursdya, June 20, 2002.
Services are incomplete in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. 847-741-8800

William Lee Haggard
William Lee Haggard, 70, of Elgin, IL, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
He was born February 23, 1933 in Winner, SD to Elmer C. and Verna L. (Stolenberg) Haggard.
William had served in the Navy, as a fighter pilot, serving on the aircraft carriers, USS Ticonderaga and the USS Bennington, William then joined United Airlines serving then as a 747 Captain retiring after 33 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra (Levar) Haggard; three sons, Scott (Nancy), Eric and Paul (Diane) all of Elgin; two daughters, Gale (Rod) Glover of California, Karen Haggard of Elgin; two brothers, Marvin and Tom Haggard both of California; 15 grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandson, Ryan Haggard.
Memorial service was held on Thursday, June 19, 2003 at 7 PM at the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel with Rev. Edward Seisser officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to the Leukenia Research Foundation, 820 Davis Street, Evanston, IL, 60201.

James "Jim" H. Schulz
James "Jim" H. Schulz, 57, of Genoa, Illinois died Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at his home. He was born March 22, 1946 in Aurora, Illinois the son of William R. and Evelyn E. (Christenson) Schulz. He married Joyce A. Williams on August 22, 1964 in Aurora. He was a stationary engineer at Shedd's Foods for eighteen years then was a maintenance engineer for Nehring Electric. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1968.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Schulz of Genoa; two daughters, Dawn (Terry) Brooks of Genoa, Christina Schulz of Genoa; a son, Brian Schulz of Genoa; five grandchildren, Jeromy, Jason, Nick, Bradley, Kathleen; two sisters, Joanne (Dale) Jackman of Florida, Mary (Art) Slaber of Naperville; a brother, Mike (Archie Fritsch) Shulz of Aurora; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David Schulz.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21 at Cooper-Quiram Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St. in Genoa. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lincoln cemetery in Aurora. Information (815)784-2518 or www.quiram.com.

William R. Valentine
Willam R. Valentine, 79, of Elgin, formerly of Mt. Prospect, IL, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at Kindred Hospital, Sycamore. He ws born August 7, 1923 in Akron, Ohio and was the son of Edward and Maude Valentine. William was a Veteran and served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II. He was a widely recognized commercial designer.
Surviving are his wife, Esther Parsons Valentine, whom he married February 28, 1952; four children, Edward (Kathleen) Valentine of Elgin, Jeff (Kathleen) Valentine of Elk Grove Village, IL, Rick (Cindy) Valentine of Elgin, Lisa (Thomas) Askren of Schaumburg, IL; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, June 22 at 2:30 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private.

Mary Ann Watson
Mary Ann Watson, 59, of Elgin passed away Thursday in her home. She was born December 5, 1943 in Harrisburg, IL and was the daughter of Thomas and Grace Watson. Mary Ann was employed as a Customer Service Representative at First USA of Elgin.
Survivors include her three children, Cheryl (Dan) Mish of Hampshire, Jon T. (Sheryl) Behm of Aurora, IL, James R. Behm of WI; four grandchildren, Matt, brett, Kaitlynn and James T.; two sisters, Kathleen (Richard) Michalec of St. Charles, IL, Frances (Cleon) elmore of Chillicothe, IL; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Watson of Creal Springs, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas Watson.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Michael Franz officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Betty Elaine Becker
Betty Elaine Becker was born August 4, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to Rupert and Beth Bingham. She passed away in the loving company of her children on June 19, 2004.
Betty graduated from Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn, Illinois in 1942. It was there she met her beloved husband, William H. Becker, who predeceased her in 2000. The couple married at the age of 18 on January 30, 1943, in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, during semester break from the University of Illinois, after which Bill was shipped out to serve his country during World War II. They remained happily married for 57 years.
Betty and Bill were founding members of Faith Congregational Church in Glen Ellyn countryside, where they both sang in the choir and Bill served as Lay Pastor and Elder. In their golden years, they lived in Elgin. After Bill's death, Betty relocated to Glen Ellyn and joined First Presbyterian Church in 2003.
Betty will be remembered always by her friends and family for her love of music, her love of her children and for the extraordinary and enduring love she shared with her husband.
Betty is survived by her sister, Joyce (Steve) Kinzalow of St. Louis, Missouri. She is also survived by her five children, William Scott (Mary) Becker of Golden, Colorado, Victoria Lynn (Chuck) Kinnaman of Roselle, Illinois, Beth Elaine (David) Ellis of Naperville, Illinois, Barbara Ann (Fred) Robertson of League City, Texas and Linda Lee (John) Phillabaum of Wheaton, Illinois. Betty also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Aaron, Sarah, Julie, Michael, Paul, Steve, Cheyenne, Carly and Tracy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn (corner of Main and Anthony) on Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at 2 PM. For info call DuPage Cremations, Ltd at: 800-588-1132

Dorothy M. Schwemm
Dorothy M. Schwemm, 84, of Crystal Lake, formerly of Elgin, died at Crystal Pines Health Care Center Saturday, June 19, 2004. She was born on January 3, 1920 in Belvidere, to Carl and Ann (Jensen) Nordmann. On May 7, 1949, she married Leslie Schwemm at St. John's Lutheran Church in Elgin.
She worked at Elgin Watch Factory for many years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake.
Survivors include her husband, Leslie of Crystal Lake; her sisters, Marion Beu of Algonquin and Heleh Jurs of South Elgin; a sister-in-law, Olive Nordmann of Sycamore; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Albert Nordmann.
Visitation will be held at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake of Tuesday, June 22, 2004 from 11 AM until tne funeral service at 12 Noon with Pastor Edward Bergen officiating. INterment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 178 McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake, IL, 60014.

Robert B. Howard
Robert B. Howard, 91, of Batavia, formerly of West Dundee, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001 at Michealsen Health Center of Batavia.
He was born Aug. 23, 1909 in Marshfield, Wis., the son of Arthur and Louise (Brown) Howard.
He was a lifelong resident of the area, a 75 year member of the First Congregational Church of West Dundee. He attended the University of Illinois at Champaign and a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. He was a 50 year member of the Illinois, Tri-County & National Holstein Assoc. of America; a life member of the Dairy Shrine Club; a member of the Kane County & Illinois State Farm Bureau. Also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose at Harvard, Illinois, the Dundee Historical Society and a 50 year Seed Corn Dealer for P.A.G. (Cargill).
Survivors include his wife, Vera, whom he married on May 25, 1935; two daughters, Barbara (Larry) Larsen of Madison, Wis. and Beatrice (Whitey) Riske of West Chicago; four grandchildren, Alicia (Mark) Carriveau, Philip (Prema) Riske, Dena Larsen and Leslie Larsen; a great-granddaughter, Theresa Vera Carriveau; a brother, Arthur Howard of Auburn, Ind.; a nephew, Robert Rewoldt; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Leslie Howard; a brother, Ralph Howard; and a sister, Dorothy Howard Gromer.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, June 23, 2001 in the First Congregational Church of West Dundee, the Rev. Pamela Pendexter officiating. Burial to follow at River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Friday in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Saturday in the church from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
Memorials may be made to the University of Illinois, Champaign Dairy Judging Team and First Congregational Church of W. Dundee.

Lawrence J. Minogue, Sr. Lawrence J. Minogue, Sr., 66, of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of Elgin, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2001.
He was a ten year member of the Elgin Fire Department and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was a dear friend of Evelyn O'Donnell and family; dear father of Lori Ziegler, Julie Lane, Larry Minogue, and Mary Rasmussen; dear grandfather of David, Stefi, Michael, Josh and Kyle; brother of William Minogue and Marilyn Stark.
Services will he held Friday, June 22 at 11 A.M. in the chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 6245 Columbia Rd, North Olmstead, Ohio.
Visitation is Thursday, 6-8 P.M. in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Aluminum Cans Burned Children Foundation, 17703 Grovewood Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44119.

Robert Dale Simpson
Robert Dale Simpson, 68, of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2001 in his home.
He was born Jan. 11, 1933 in Elgin, the son of Kenneth and Burley (Stewart) Simpson.
He was a resident of Elgin all of his life. Robert was a Veteran having served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a Tile Setter for many years prior to his retirement. Robert then worked for the Nordstrom Rack in Schaumburg.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia, whom he married on Oct. 4, 1975; two sons, Dale Simpson of Elgin and Steven (Diane) Simpson of Poplar Grove, Ill.; a step-son, Jeffery Jenkins of Oak Park; three grandchildren, Matthew, Kelly and Kristi; his sister, Joyce (Mason) Neal of Elgin; a niece; and two nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Simpson in 1998.
Funeral Services will be 7 p.m., Friday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, the Rev. Tim Chinn officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m., Friday in the funeral home.

Velma "Kay" Zuccaro
Velma "Kay" Zuccaro, 78, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
She was born July 10, 1922 in Pomona, Kan., the daughter of Jay and Leta Foracker Adams.
She had been a resident of Elgin for the past 15 years. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Elgin.
Survivors include her husband, August "Gus" Zuccaro, whom she married on April 3, 1943; a daughter, Janice Zuccaro of Richmond, Ky.; a son, Charles R. (Carol) Zuccaro of Fox River Grove; two grandsons, Steven August (Laura) Rogers and Paul Michael (Tonya) Rogers; three great-grandchildren, Steven, Kyle and Marina; and a sister, Thelma McClure of Edwardsville, Kansas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister; and a brother.
Funeral Services will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin to St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin for Mass at 10 a.m., the Rev. Andrew Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m., Friday in the funeral home.
The family requests that flowers be omitted.
