Bruce E. Molander
Bruce E. Molander, 63, of Elgin passed away Tuesday in Provena St. Joseph Hospital. He was born July 22, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois and was the son of Edward J. and Marie (LaPaglia) Molander. Bruce was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Airforce. He was employed with Prudential Insurance Company for many years prior to his retirement. Bruce also owned and operated Valley Agencies in Elgin for 15 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling and life.
Member of the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce, was the Chairman of the Board in 1999, also serving on many committees.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice "Bea" (Bussey) Molander, whom he married on March 27, 1960; three children, Renee (Robert) Hill of Morengo, IL, John Molander of Elgin and Teresa Molander of South Elgin; three great-grandchildren, Rob, Jessica and Christopher Hill; his mother of Vero Beach, FL and a brother, Richard (Susan) Molander of Vero Beach, FL.
preceded in death by his father, Edward J. Molander in 2001.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 A.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 6, 2002 from 3-9:00 P.M. in the funeral home, and on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services. Omission of flowers is requested with Memorials made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.

Rev. Robert S. Romeis
Rev. Robert S. Romeis of Sacramento, CA, passed away on January 7, 2002. He was born April 17, 1913 in Elgin, where he worked for his father's coal and ice business and excelled in athletics, drama, and public speaking at Elgin High School. Romeis attended Carthage College and earned a master of divinity degree from Chicago Lutheran Theological Seminary. He served First Lutheran Church in Fresno, CA from 1938-1943, and St. John's Lutheran Church in Sacramento for 40 years, retiring in 1983. For more than 20 years he was a board member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He also served as Chaplain for bothe the California State Assembly and later the California State Senate. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, whom he married in 1990; three daughter, Kristin Ramsdell, Deborah Cloninger, and Michael Ann Owens; 11 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Haldene Oller of Mendon, IL, to whom he was married for 50 years; two sisters, and three brothers. The funeral was held on January 12, 2002 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sacramento.

Evelyn Genevieve Weiger
A memorial service celebrating the life of Evelyn Genevieve (Bongartz) Weiger will be held 6:30 PM, Tuesday, February 5th at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 101 South 6th Avenue, St. Charles, Illinois.
Born October 4, 1921 in Marquette, Michigan, she died Sunday afternoon, February 3, 2002, in her daughter and son-in-law's home. During the last weeks of her life, she was cared for lovingly by her niece, Janet Withrow, and granddaughter, Melissa Meana.
preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; and her parents, Henry and Susan Bongartz; and sister, Betty.
For 25 years, Evelyn was a Medical Assistant for a family practice physician in Marquette.
She was the beloved mother of Sandra (Fernando) Meana of Wayne, Illinois, cherished grandmother of Timothy Meana and Melissa Meana; two sisters, Sophia (James) Bucholtz and Yvonne (Ronald) Merkel; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Compels-Program of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 101 South 6th Ave., St. Charles, Illinois 60174 or to Care-A-Van at the Regional Cancer Care Center of Provena St. Joseph Hospital, 77 North Airlite Drive, Elgin, Illinois 60123.

Sherman C. Altwies
Sherman C. Altwies, 82, of Elgin died February 4, 2003. He was born September 24, 1920 in Belvidere, IL the son of Ellis R. and Mary Crosland Altwies.
Most of his youth he lived in the Marengo, IL area. He enlisted in the Navy May 1939-September 1945. He was a Gunner's Mate 2/C and served in the Navy Armed Guard (Pacific) for the entire World War II. He has lived in Elgin, IL since September 1945. He was a retired Lieutenant from the Elgin Police Department. After the Police Department he worked at McGraw Wildlife, a kennel at Woodstock, Allied Mills Nutritional Research Kennel at Libertyville and the last 12 years of employment as driver for Schock's Greenhouse, Elgin.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 57, USN Armed Guard Vets. of World War II, a retired member Unit 54 Policemen's Benevolent and Protective Ass'n of IL, Illinois Police Ass'n, Retired and Disabled Police of America.
He liked fly fishing and tied most of his own flies.
Survivors include: Brother, Harvey Altwies of Dundee, IL, Sister, Mary Edna of Detroit, MI, Daughter, Barbara Altwies of Skokie, IL, Daughter, Jane Finn of Elgin, IL. Grandson, David Finn of Emmitsburg, MD.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and his wife of 51 years, Patricia Cosgrove Altwies.
Visitation will be held at O'Connor & Homeier Funeral Home, 364 Division St. Elgin Thursday, February 6, 2003 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 7, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at O'Connor & Homeier. Burial will take place at Mt. Hope cemetery. (847) 741-1400.

Eva P. Balke Wojcik
Eva P. Balke Wojcik, 93, of Carpentersville, died Wednesday at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born in Chicago on October 21, 1909. She was a resident of the Carpentersville area for 15 years, she was a member of the Dundee Township Senior Citizens Organization and attended activities at the Besinger Community Center. She was a member of the St. Monica Church of Carpentersville.
She is survived by two children: Nancy L. Conrad of Carpentersville and Thomas (Jean) Balke of Algonquin, four grandchildren: David (Diane) Conrad of Lake In The Hills, Richard Conrad of Carpentersville, Brenda (Jerry) Stasiek of Genoa and Joseph (April) Balke of Algonquin, six great grandchildren; David and Kelli Conrad, Matt and Amanda Crawford and Kim and Walter Balke.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Thomas Balke in 1964, her second husband Walter Wojcik in 1986, two brothers, Paul and Joe Grzeca, one sister, Mamie Pokorney.
Funeral services will be on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee to St. Monica Church, Carpentersville for mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-9 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.

Donald C. Ebert
Donald C. Ebert, formerly of Elgin, passed away peacefully near his family on January 30, 2004 at the age of 87. He had been living in California for the past few years with his son Bruce and family. he was born May 25, 1916 in Walworth County, Wisconsin, the son of Walter and Freida Ebert. He was part of a family of 13 siblings. He retired from Shakeproof Division of Illinois Tool Works in Elgin after 30 years of employment. He was a Veteran of World War II where he was injured in combat. He was a great supporter of the United States Armed Forces and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Watch City Post 1307 and Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are his son, Bruce (Pamela) Ebert; three grandchildren, Brent (Jenny) Ebert, Andrea and Ali Ebert, all of Rocklin, CA; a sister, Nona Eincke of Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Catherine Hickey Ebert in 1979; eleven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 9, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services, Elgin Chapel, with Dr. Larry Pickens officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Rose C. Hemmingsen
Rose C. Hemmingsen, 89, of Marengo died Wednesday, Feburary 4, 2004 at Northwoods Healthcare Center, Belvidere, IL.
She was born on July 20, 1914 in Algonquin, IL the daughter of the late August and Emma Volz Gritmacker. On July 16, 1938, in Algonquin, she married Jesse W. Hemmingsen who died on November 21, 1983.
Rose was a member of the Golden Ager's of the Moose and Ladies of the Moose, Harvard, The Marengo Senior Citizens Club.
She is survived by three daughters, Alice Wagner of Marengo, Charles (Phyllis) Naugle of Monroe City, MO and Harold (Patsy) Knake of Marengo; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Erna Houdek and Alice Rogman both of Algonquin.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Herman, Walter and Arthur Gritmacker.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. Saturday, February 7, 2004 at Zion Lutheran Church, 412 E. Jackson St., Marengo, IL 60152 until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Glen Borbart officiating.
Interment will be in McHenry County Memorial Park, Woodstock. Memorials may be made in her name to Zion Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grand Hwy., Marengo, IL 60152. 815-568-8131

Marian E. Lambert
Marian E. Lambert, age 81, of Batavia, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2004 at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva. She was born June 26, 1922 in Batavia Township, the daughter of Charles and Mary Katherine Gould. She was united in marriage to Elmer F. Lambert on February 24, 1945 in Geneva, Illinois.
Marian was a Batavia High School graduate. She was a graduate of Northern Illinois University and attended Aurora University, the University of Minnesota, Pesstalozi Froebel University in Chicago and received her Masters Degree from Northwestern University.
She began her 55 year teaching career in 1942 in a one room school north of Elburn. She also taught at the former Oak Grove School, which was located on Deerpath Road in Batavia. She later taught school for the Aurora School District 129 until her retirement in 1983. She then was a substitute teacher for another 13 years until 1997.
She was a faithful member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a life member of P.T.A. and N.E.A., Delta Kappa Gamma, Batavia Senior Citizens, Sugar Grove Historical Society and Sugar Grove Senior Citizens, the National, Illinois and Fox Valley Audubon Societies; Geneva Senior Citizens, Women of the Moose - Aurora Chapter #83, and former member of the St. Charles Senior Citizens.
Marian is survived by her brother, Charles Gould of Batavia; nieces and nephews, Harvey (Sue) Gould of Hanover Park, Patricia Fleming of California, Jan (Terry) DuRall of Aurora, Charlene (Jay) Cullie of Sycamore, Marianne (Matt) Roberg of Maple Park, David (Sarah) Gould of Maple Park, Karen (Dick) Mahrenholz of Carol Stream and George (Betty) Gould of Aurora; many great-nieces and nephews; and many great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer F. Lambert in 1993; two brothers, George and John Gould; three sister-in-laws, Lola Lambert, Hannah Gould and Zell Gould; a brother-in-law, Theron Lambert; and one nephew, Terry DuRall.
Visitation will be held form 3:00 until 8:00 PM on Sunday, February 8, 2004 at the Moss Family Funeral Home in Batavia.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 8, 2004 at the Moss Family Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Good officiating. Interment will be at West Batavia cemetery.

Dorothy (Hansen) Moulton
Dorothy (Hansen) Moulton, 86, February 4, 2004 in Lebanon, NH, formerly of Carpentersville. Daughter of the late Lawrence and Amy (Petterssn) Hansen. Graduated from high school in Dundee and nurses training at Cook County Hospital. Member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Order of the Nile, member and Past President of Washoe County Doctors Wives and Women's Auxiliary to the Nevada State Medical Society.
Loving wife of the late Dr. Olin Cates Moulton; and devoted mother of Nettie Olson; son-in-law, Eric; grandmother to Michelle and Craig all of Hartford, VT; sister of Hazel Puffpaff of Hot Springs Village, AR and the late Florence Raywood; aunt to Phil Raywood of Buffalo Grove, IL and Vicki Raywood of Hampshire, IL.
Services February 8, 2004 at 5:30 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction, VT, 802-295-2100.

Gini Grant Olson
Gini Grant Olson, 72, of St. Charles, died Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at Rosewood Care Center in St. Charles. She was born May 14, 1931, in Chicago, the daughter of John Lewis and Lulu Mae (Moore) Grant.
She was a graduate of Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Gini was a secretary to William A.P. Pullman, President of the Chicago Horticultural Society during the emergence of the Chicago Botonic Gardens in Wilmette. Gini had served as a librarian at Little Woods School, Lincoln School, Richmond Elementary School as well as Title I Remedial Reading teacher at St. Charles East High School. She was instrumental in the union negotiations representing the support staff for St. Charles School District #303. The pattern set during these meetings was a model for future negotiations.
An excellent pianist, one of Gini's fondest memories was the year that she, and the Olson family musicians, presented "Celebrate Life" at the request of many Fox Valley area churches.
Mrs. Olson is survived by her husband of 40 years, C. John Olson; her sons, Ronald Olson of Garden Grove, California, John C. (Mellanie) Olson of Byers, Colorado, Geno (Jane) Olson of Waterman, Chip (Donna) Olson of Allen, Texas, and Dale (Laurie) Olson of Geneva; her grandchildren, Tiffanie Lynn Olson, John C. Olson, Jr., Miriam Olson, Alicia Olson, Benjamin Olson and Jeffrey Francis Olson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a dear uncle and aunt, Donald and Gladys Riedl.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 9, 2004, at the Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third Street, St. Charles, with Rev. Edwin Remaly officiating. Burial will be private.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 8, 2004, and Monday From 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Contributions in Mrs. Olson's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 143 First Street, Batavia, IL 60510.

Perry Pope
Perry Pope, 64, of Elgin, passed away Friday, January 30 at his home. He was born July 31, 1939 in Elgin to John and Stella (Johnson) Pope.
Perry was a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps and served aboard the U.S.S. Kearsarge. He was honorably discharged in December of 1960. He was a lifelong resident of Elgin. He was employed with the Courier News and School District 54 before retiring. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, classic movies, and spending time with family.
He is survived by his brother, Lyle Pope; his sister, Laverne Petschow; a daughter, Sandy Castelvecchi; sons, Dale Pope and David (Angie) Pope; grandchildren, Dina, Marina, Anthony, Dominic, Jaymin; and a host of family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Deloris Rowley; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Pope.
Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2004 from 4-6:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Albert Reed, Sr.
Albert Reed, Sr., 59, of Elgin passed away Friday, January 30, 2004 at Sherman Hospital. He was born June 14, 1944 in Olmstead, Illinois to Albert and Gloria Jean (Speller) Reed. Albert had been employed as an automobile mechanic.
Surviving are his three sons, Albert Reed, Jr. of Elgin, Cannie Reed of Rockford, and Anthony Reed of St. Louis, MO; two daughters, Cheryl Reed of St. Louis, MO, and Renee Reed of Rockford; eight grandchildren; one stepbrother, Gene (Rosetta) Speller of Elgin; one sister, Velma Reed of Elgin; many aunts, uncles neices, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 7, at 7:00 p.m. at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral Home and Cremation Services Elgin Chapel. Visitation will be held Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.

Harvey B. Saxe
Harvey B. Saxe, 81, of Fort Atkinson, passed away surrounded by his family who loved him on Sunday, February 1, 2004 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee following a brief illness.
Harvey was born April 15, 1922 in Elgin, IL, the son of the late Harvey B. and Ida Sjunnesson Saxe. He married the former Mary Pace of Elgin on August 3, 1946, in Elgin.
A graduate of Elgin High School, Harvey had been employed as a salesman in Elgin, moving to Fort Atkinson nine years ago. He had been a member of the Lions Club in Fort Atkinson and Elgin for 35 years, served on the Elgin Fire and Police Commission for five years, was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Elgin for 70 years where he served in several capacities, and was affiliated with Faith Community Church in Fort Atkinson.
Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Mary; one son, Harvey Laurence "Larry" (Lynn) Saxe of Elgin; one daughter, Diane Saxe of Fort Atkinson; two grandchildren, Heather and Bethany, both of Elgin; one sister, Blanche Benton of Victorville, CA; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and dear friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 3, 2004 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Faith Community Church in Fort Atkinson. Another visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2004 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2700 W. Highland Ave. in Elgin. The visitation will be followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
If desired, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Dunlap Memorial Home is assisting the family.
Harvey was a kind and gentle man who loved his family and will be remembered for his friendliness and sense of humor.
