James B. Rosenthal
James B. Rosenthal, 60, of Lombard, formerly of Elgin area, died Sunday, July 6, 2003 at the Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst. He was born in Chicago on July 4, 1943, the son of John W. and Jane (nee Worthington) Rosenthal. Jim was a 1961 graduate of Elgin High School. He was a self employed Carpenter/General Contractor in the Lombard, Elmhurst/Villa Park areas for many years. He is survived by four children, Kiley M. (Robert) Meyer of Genoa, Kiersten M. Rosenthal of Island Lake, Jennifer R. (Ted) Deakin of Ann Arbor, MI and Jason S. (Celeste) Rosenthal of Garland, TX; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Jeannine (John F. "Jack") Kamp of East Dundee; a brother, Jack (Geraldine) Rosenthal of Atlanta, GA. Many nieces, nephews and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents. A service celebrating Jim's life will be held on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Darlene C. Swanson
Darlene C. Swanson, 65, of Sycamore formerly of Hampshire, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2003 in her home after a long courageous battle with cancer.
She was born March 5, 1938 in Sycamore, the daughter of Carl and Ruby (Peterson) Frantum. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school and graduated from Sycamore High School in 1956. Darlene attended Northern Illinois University and was employed at Duplex and Automatic Electric and was a homemaker. She was united in marriage at the United Methodist Church of Sycamore to Fred O. Swanson on September 19, 1959 and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose smile will be missed.
She is survived by her husband Fred; two daughters, Karen Swanson of Sycamore and Carol (Glenn) Bolander of Kingston and a brother Robert (Shirley) Frantum of Maple Park; two grandsons, Justin and Josh Bolander and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a niece and nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 14, at the United Methodist Church, 160 Johnson Ave., Sycamore with Pastor Nancy Weingartner officiating. Burial will be in Hampshire Center cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church and on Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. service time.

Lola Agnes Bryson
Lola Agnes Bryson, 77, who for the last four years has resided in Bolingbrook with her niece Stephanie (husband Joseph) and their children, Douglas, Shannon, Benjamin and Deanna, died Friday, July 4 at Meadowbrook Manor in Bolingbrook.
She was a retired operator for Illinois Bell. She spent her post retirement years being a nanny and taking care of sick relatives even though she was not in the best of health herself.
She is survived by her four children, Lola Margaret (Peggy) Bryson, Bette Marie Bryson, Stephen Thomas Bryson (wife Hannah), and Patricia Ann Bryson; grandchildren, Kevin Bryson, Greg Kudasz, Thomas Kudasz (wife Lee) and their two children; Cade and Corbem; sisters, Katherine Pratt, Grace Toms, Ardith Wilson; and a sister-in-law, Mary Wiesbrook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her parents, Stephen and Zelda Wiesbrook; and a brother, Leonard Wiesbrook.
Her death was due to complications of a stroke suffered in January of 2004. Her body was donated to science per her instructions.
A memorial service is planned for July 17 at the home of her niece, Stephanie Ptak. For address and time please call (630)378-1934.

Milton Erwin Merrill, Jr.
Milton Erwin Merrill, Jr., 60 of Edgewood, MD died Sunday, July 4, 2004. He was born in Woodbury, NJ on July 29, 1943.
Mr. Merrill was a former resident of the Dundee and Elgin areas, while his father, the Rev. Milton Erwin Merrill, was Pastor of the First United Methodist Church in West Dundee.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mary (Donald) Moss of West Dundee; a sister, Mary Gail Ford of Palatine; and a brother, Mark Merrill of Denver, CO; two step-sisters, Carol (Dennis) Dwyer of Algonquin and Judith (John) Nelson of Williams Bay, WI; his daughter-in-law, Tosha Tenille Merrill of Edgewood, MD; and a grandson, Raymond Israel Merrill.
He was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. Milton Erwin Merrill; and most recently, his son; Milton Erwin Merrill, III on June 26, 2004.
Services and Interment were private in Maryland.

Floyd T. Riebock
Floyd T. Riebock, 85, of Elgin passed away Saturday, July 10, 2004 in Heritage Manor in Elgin. He was born December 30, 1918 in Burlington, IL and was the son of Otto and Edna Riebock. He had been employed by the Elgin Metal Casket Co. before retiring. He served with the 7th armored division during World War II and was active at the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Elgin and of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1307 in Elgin.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Haut Riebock; one son, Ronald (Ann) Riebock of Deerfield, IL; one daughter, Judy (Jerry) Hutson of Elgin; one daughter-in-law, Roberta Riebock of Elgin; eight grandchildren, Chris Hutson, Craig (Julie) Hutson, Jami Hutson, Jessica Riebock, Marisa Riebock, Alexis Riebock, Eric Riebock and Ben Riebock; two great grandchildren, William Leon and Konrad Reid Hutson; one brother, Gerald (Renate) Riebock of South Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Roger; four sisters, Ethel, Lois, Dorothy and Gladys; one brother, Otto Riebock.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin with the Rev. Herman Christiansen officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity of your choice.

E. Beverly Rowe
E. Beverly Rowe, 96, of Elgin, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2004 in Sherman Hospital. She was born February 13, 1908 in Anna, IL and was the daughter of William and Caroline Brading. She was a graduate of Anna High School. The day after graduation she started working for Illinois Bell Telephone Co. as a telephone operator and retired from Illinois Bell as a Division Manager. After retirement she worked at Elgin Community College. She loved to travel and made trips to Hawaii and Egypt. She was an Icon to her family and will be greatly missed.
Member of the First United Methodist Church of Elgin, Telephone Pioneers, Elgin Chapter #212, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include one nephew, Paul D. Brading of Grants Pass, OR; two grand nieces, Paulette K. Brading of Tualatin, OR and Colleen B. Rugh of Portland, OR; one grand nephew, John S. Brading of Fox, AK; one great grand niece, Rachael Vorberg-Rugh of Portland, OR.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jack in 1962; two sisters, Ruby Alexander and Myrtle Toler; four brothers, Sumral Brading, John Brading, Bon Brading and Everett Brading.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 14 at 2:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, with Rev. Mona Walker officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Elgin.

Gwendolyn S. Underwood
Gwendolyn S. Underwood, 74, of Fontana, WI passed away on Friday, July 9, 2004 at Holton Manor Nursing Home in Elkhorn, WI.
She was born in Elgin, IL on January 22, 1930 the beloved third child of Dr. Percy B. Underwood and Zella Cooper Underwood. Gwen graduated from Elgin High School in 1948 and received her BS Degree from Northwestern University in 1952, where she was an active participant in the Pi Beta Phi sorority. After receiving her MA Degree from Northwestern in 1954, Gwen taught in the Evanston, IL public schools for 34 years, working part time at Kendall College for seven years and was a highly respected member of her community. Gwen retired to her home in Fontana, WI in 1985, where she enjoyed the beauty and solace of Geneva Lake while teaching part time at several summer camps in the area.
Gwen is survived by her sister, Marilynn M. Matthews of Ocala, FL; her sisters-in-law, Suzanne E. Underwood of Boone, NC, Catherine L. Matthews of Long Island, NY and Dr. Wendy J. Underwood of Carthage, IN; nephews, Mark E. Underwood of Raleigh, NC and Geoffrey C. Underwood of Mooresville, NC and their families.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at 11 AM at Toynton's Walworth Funeral Home in Walworth, WI. Burial will follow at Bluff City cemetery in Elgin, IL. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9 AM until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Geneva Lake Environmental Agency, P.O. Box 306, Lake Geneva, WI, 53147.

Lucile Ruth Noe
Lucile Ruth Noe, 85, of Elgin passed away Friday, July 11, 2003 in her home. She was born November 10, 1917 in Elgin and was the daughter of Carl and Ruth Anderson. She had been a resident of Elgin all her life and had been employed by the Elgin National Watch Co. before her marriage.
Member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Elgin.
Surviving are one daughter, Sherry (Larry) Lencioni of St. Charles, IL; three sisters, Betty Barringer of Wayne, IL, Marion (Walter) Schwab of Elgin; and Delores Sunderman of Elgin; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded by her parents; husband, Earl, in 1992; and a brother, Glen Anderson.
Private services were held in the Laird Funeral Home in Elgin with private burial. There was no visitation. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Arthritis Foundation.

J. Robert "Bob" Edwards
J. Robert "Bob" Edwards, 66, of Elgin passed away Saturday, July 10, 2004 in his home. He was born November 19, 1937 in Elgin and was the son of Ray and Lucy Edwards. He had been a resident of Elgin all his life and was a graduate of Elgin High School with the Class of 1955. He had owned Pride Paving Co. in Elgin for many years. He was presently a salesman for Northern Illinois Brick & Supply Co. He had been a coach and Past President of the Continental Little League in Elgin, a coach and Past President of the Pop Warner Football Association, past Midwest Regional Director of the Pop Warner Football Association, Past President of the Larkin High School Booster Club, he had coached Sophomore football at St. Edward High School and he had served on the Elgin Parks and Recreation Board for many years. He was Past Vice-President of Brady Ready Mix. He was instrumental in helping many children through sports.
Surviving are his wife, Judy, whom he married on September 17, 1960; a daughter, Kris Marshall and her significant other, Peter Raymond of Saukville, Wisconsin; a son, Boomer Edwards and his significant other, Maria of Elgin; three grandchildren, Tiffany, Keith and Kelli Marshall; three sisters, Lucille (Lawrence) Pribbenow of Alaska, Shirley (Lawrence) Krueger of Crystal Lake, IL and Doreen (Harold) Liepitz of Elgin; and a brother, Jim (Yasuko) Edwards of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Vernon, Virgil and Donald "Gunner" Edwards.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, IL with Rev. Charles Vitel officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 9 PM.

Floyd T. Riebock

Laura Noworyta Bartke
Laura Noworyta Bartke, (neeWieczorek), 86, of Bloomingdale, formerly of East Dundee died Thursday, July 12, 2001 in Bloomingdale Pavillion Nursing Center.
She was born Dec. 19, 1914 inChicago, and was a longtime resident of East Dundee.
Laura was a registry clerk for the U.S. Postal Office at the O'Hare International Airport facility, until she retired at age 81. She was a world traveler who journeyed to many foreign countries includingChina, Saudi Arabia and Cuba among others.
Survivors include her daughter, Regina (Robert) Wright of Bloomingdale; two grandchildren, Dennis W. (Jean) andMelissa; a great-grandson, DaltonRobert; and cousins, Fred and FranVoyda.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Noworyta.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday in the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (4 blks. S. of Palatine Rd.), Arlington Heights. Burial will be at St. Adalbert cemetery, Niles.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
