William R. Beckmann
Of Elgin for 18 years
A celebration of life service and interment for William R. Beckmann, 84, an Elgin resident for 18 years will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, at St. James Episcopal Church, West Dundee, IL, 60118. There will be no visitation prior to the service. A reception will be held after the service. Interment will be in the church yard of St. James Episcopal Church.
Born August 21, 1918 in Watertown, WI to William F. and Martha Beckmann, he died Wednesday, July 16 at Sherman Hospital.
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a BA degree in 1941, he served with honor as a Tank Battalion commander seeing action in Europe in World War II. Professionally, Bill will be remembered for his wit, and journalistic and public relations wisdom having worked in the newspaper business, the boatin business fo rthe Evinrude Outboard Motor Division of OMC, the banking business for the National Boulevard Bank, and in retirement, his own business, J & B Communications. A favorite retirement journalistic endeavor was editor of St. James' Sword & Shield publication.
Bill also enjoyed coaching, golf, painting, boating, and fishing with his children, grandchildren, and grand niece.
Bill was the beloved husband of 56 years to Jean E. Beckmann (nee Hoffmann); father of William E. (Mary Ellen Kanies) Beckmann of Elgin and Betty (Bob) Kelly of Elgin; and grandfather of Jennifer Beckmann, Katie and Tom Kelly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 516 Washington St., West Dundee, IL 60118.

Anne E. Erdman
Anne E. Erdman, 93, of Elgin died Sunday, July 13 at Manor Care in Elgin. She was born July 30, 1909 in Boone, Iowa to Ernest J. and Evelene (Hartquist) Shaw.
Anne was a graduate of Evangelical Hospital School of Nursing in Marshalltown, Iowa, taking her post graduate studies at Laying in Hospital in Chicago, specializing in OB & Gynecology. She had been employed at Sherman and Provena St. Joseph Hospitals for 50 years, transferring to private duty in 1950. She had served as chairman of Nurses Registery of Elgin for 2 terms.
She is survived by her daughters, Elna (Norman) Bellows of Elgin and Dawn (Gary) Patterson of Ashville, NC; ten grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard H. Erdman Sr. whom she married on December 31, 1939 and who preceded her on October 5, 1974; her son, Richard W. Erdman, Jr.; her brothers, Edwin Shaw, Lawrence Shaw; a sister, Crystal Hayden.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 19 at 1:00 p.m. at Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel. Rev. Thomas O'Connor will officiate. Burial will be private at Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Saturday, July 19 after 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 1:00 p.m. Please omit flowers with memorials to the Multiple Sclerosis Association.

Betty Louise Jensen
Betty Louise Jensen, 74, of Elgin, IL. on July 12, 2003 peacefully slipped from this world into the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. Comforted by the knowledge that she had claimed the promise of salvation, John 3:16, her family was able to give praise to the Lord on her passing. Betty was born on August 3, 1928 in Indiana. She married and had five children and devoted the rest of her life to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her husband, Wayne E. Jensen, her sister, Carol Jacobsen, daughters, Bobbi Jensen, Denise Cedergren, Gail Hazle, Jeanine Sommerville, son, Craig Jensen and her daughter by marriage, Beth Jensen. Betty was also blessed with seventeen grandchildren: John Banks, Kyleen Estrada, Christina Jensen, Robert and Josh Owen, Heather, Sara and Brian Hazle, Deanna and Kyshia Sommerville, Corey, Mark, Paul, Tiffany Jensen, Brenda Lee, Crystal and Amber Jensen and her eight Great-grandchildren, John, Nikki and Benjamin Banks, Elijah Estrada, Joshua and Victor Owen, Paul Jr., and Isaac Jensen.
Betty was preceded in death by her mother and father, Herbert and Lucille Pahl and brother, Herbert Pahl.
As requested by Betty, there will be no viewing or burial. There will be an open celebration of life held at First Baptist Church in Elgin, 1735 W. Highland Avenue at 2:30 p.m. on July 19, 2003. Pastor Mike Frantz to officiate.

Elma F. "Melba" Landin
Elma F. "Melba" Landin, 85, of Hampshire passed away Thursday, July 17, 2003 at the Rosewood Care Center in Rockford.
She was born August 25, 1917 in Greenville, IL, the daughter of Rudolph and Fredona (File) Beck. Melba lived most of her life in the Rockford area and married Benjamin F. Landin on July 27, 1963 in Harmony. She has been a resident of Hampshire for over 40 years.
Mrs. Landin had been employed for 10 years at Playskool Mfg. of Hampshire and formerly at Mallquist Butter and Egg of Rockford for 13 years.
She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church of Hampshire, the United Methodist Women, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 680 of Hampshire and the Hampshire-Burlington Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Landin is survived by many nieces and nephews, cousin and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bennie on April 24, 1988; three sister, Orah Boots, Olive Geick, Viola Martinson and six brothers, Hollis, William, Elmer, Clarence, Floyd, and Rudoph Beck.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 20 at the Zion United Methodist Church, Hampshire with Rev. Steve Ziegler officiating. Burial will be in the Willwood Memorial Park in Rockford.
Visitation will be prior to services on Sunday, from 12 noon until the 1 p.m. services.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Zion United Methodist Church of Hampshire.

Louise L. Lose
Louise L. Lose, 91, of Elgin, passed away Wednesday at Heritage Manor Elgin. She was born January 28, 1912 in Algonquin, daughter of Fred and Minnie Schneierwind Borchart.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church Elgin and a teacher of sewing for many years at St. John's School. She was a graduate of Elgin High School in 1929.
She is survived by two sons, Glen (Pat) Lose of Estero, FL and Dick (Pam) Lose of Elgin; six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Hugo Jr.; a daughter, Judith in infancy; a grandson, Rick Lose in 1987; a great granddaughter, Diana Lose; two sisters, and 3 brothers.
Funeral services will be Friday, at 10:00 a.m. at the Madison Funeral Home 305 Park St., Elgin. Rev. Thomas Niermann officiating. Burial will be at Bluff City cemetery in Elgin. Visitation Friday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Elgin.

James C. Newell
James C. Newell, age 96, of St. Charles, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at Rosewood Health Care Center in St. Charles, Illinois.
He was born November 30, 1906 in Ireland, the son of James and Jennie Newell.
Before his retirement, he was superintendent of Buildings, Buses and Grounds for the St. Charles School District for 35 years.
He was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in St. Charles, a member and past master of AF&AM; Unity Lodge #48, Scottish Rites, Valley of Chicago, Medinah Temple, Chicago, Fox Valley Shrine Club, Illinois Police Association, Valley Golden Agers and a member and past patron of the Eastern Star Chapter #265.
Survivors include his son, Kirk G. (Shirley) Newell of Elgin; a daughter, Jean (Alan) Soderstrom of Geneva; eight grandchildren, Kirk J. (Sally), Keith, Kendra (Gregg) Pasek, David (Dawn) Soderstrom, William (Sally) Soderstrom, Brett (Ann Marie), Melinda (Ralph) Maughan and Lisa (William Thanephon); and 18 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma; an infant son, James Jr.; two sisters and a brothers.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 21 at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, St. Charles. Rev. William Nagy will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Forest Park, Illinois. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 2211 North Oak Park Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60607.

Earl C. Wille
Earl C. Wille, 77 of Dundee died Sunday, July 13, 2003 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He was born in Elgin on January 2, 1926, the son of Walter and Mayford Wille.
Mr. Wille was a life long resident of the area. He retired from Sieg Auto Parts in Rockford after more than twenty years of service. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Elgin. He was a WWII Army Veteran having served in the Pacific. He was a member of the Elgin American Legion Post #57.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara (nee Barackman) Wille; one sister, Bernice (Charles) Miller of Mesa, Arizona; two nephews and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends will meet for funeral services on Saturday, July 19, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 340 Grand Blvd. in Elgin. Burial will follow in the Lakewood Memorial Park cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services in the church. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the charity of one's choice. The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee is in charge of arrangements.

Marie Yearman
Marie Yearman, 79 of Elgin passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born May 13, 1924 in Chicago the daughter of Robert John and Helen Hanrahan Carroll. She was a graduate of Shortridge High School, Indianapolis, Ind. and St. Mary's College, South Bend, Ind. where she studied business administration and secretarial science. She had been a resident of Elgin for the past 52 years.
She had been employed at the U.S. Army Ordinance Headquarters in Chicago as Administrative Secretary to Col. John Selzak for 3 years then by Judge John S. Page in Elgin as legal secretary for 8 years, was Office Manager of Geister, Schnell, Richards and Brown in Elgin for 10 years and served as City Clerk for the City of Elgin for over 14 years where she was responsible for bringing absentee voting to Elgin including Kane and Cook County. While serving as city clerk, city council minutes taken in shorthand were verbatim. She established 48 precincts in Elgin where citizens could vote. This was prior to the County taking over under the Consolidated Elections Act.
She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Elgin. She was a member of Provena St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Elgin Women's Club. She was a member of the Elgin Tourism and Convention Board.
She was Past President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Kane County Legal Secretaries Association. Past Secretary of the North Country Knolls Homeowners Association. Past President of the Elgin Women's Republican Club. Republican Precinct Committeeman for the past 14 years. Vice Chairman of the Elgin Township Republican Committee. She was appointed the Elgin City Council on June 13, 1990 and was elected to the Elgin City Council in 1991, 1995 and 1999 and she received the highest vote totals of all candidates in the 1995 and 1999 elections. She was recently elected Chairman of the Elgin Township Republican Committee, the first woman to have this position.
Surviving are her 4 children - Richard (Louanne) Yearman of San Jose, Cal.; Kathleen (Michael) Bruns of Springfield, Ill; Darlene (Craig) Morgan of St. Charles, Ill; Edward Yearman of San Jose, Cal; 8 grandchildren - Dawn, Dean Yearman, Rhonda (Sonny) Chaudhary, William (Karin) and Annamarie Yearman, Nathan Bruns, Megan and C.J. Morgan; great granddaughter - Amber Chaudhary; sister - Margarite Woolf of Crestwood, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 42 years - William E. in 1986; 2 brothers - Robert in infancy and Eugene Carroll.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 18, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Rev. Geoffrey Wirth officiating. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be held Thursday from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Friday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of mass in the church. Memorials may be given to the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin or any charitable organizations that support to Elgin area.

Patricia L. Davis
Patricia L. Davis, 58, of West Dundee, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2004 at the Provena-St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. She was born in Elgin of June 29, 1946. She was the daughter of Charles and Bernice (nee Schroeder) Querhammer.
Patrcia was a 10-year employee of Cardunal Savings Bank in West Dundee. She enjoyed crafts, needle point reading and sports.
Survivors include her brother, William (Mary) Querhammer of Crystal Lake; her sister, Susan (Frank) Brania of Cary; nieces, Stephanie (Russell) Walker of Crystal Lake, Tricia (Brian) McClimans of Bloomingdale, Kimberly Brania of Arlington Heights; nephews, Brett (Julie) Querhammer of Evanston, Todd Brania of McHenry; great-nieces, Asia and Sidney Walker of Crystal Lake, Emma McClimans of Bloomingdale; great nephews, Aaron Walker of Crystal Lake, Matthew McClimans of Bloomingdale; her aunt, Patricia Querhammer of Huntley; and her very good friends, Joanne and Ray Harre of WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Linda.
Memorial contributions may be made to the West Dundee Fire Department Paramedics. Private arrangements are being handled by the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee (847)426-3436.

Charles "Charlie" Luebke
Charles "Charlie" Luebke, 72, of East Dundee, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2004 in his home. He was born in Bismark, ND on November 22, 1931. Charlie was very fond of working with show horses in and around the Fox Valley area. He also worked for Pomp's Tire Company many years prior to his retirement. Charlie was a hard working man who built many friendships over time. He enjoyed his family and the simple things in life.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy of East Dundee. Three children whom he loved very much. His two sons and daughter-in-laws, Michael and Martha Luebke of Elgin and Robert and Valorie Luebke of Crystal Lake and his daughter, Linda Sue Luebke of East Dundee, IL. Charlie had three grandchildren, Robert C. Luebke, Jr. of Dundee, Katrina R. Luebke of Crystal Lake, IL and Alben J. Murcia of Elgin. He also had several nephews and nieces, but one who he was closer to, Dennis Luebke of MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ethel Luebke; six brothers, Roy, Raymond, Pierce, Clarence, Wilmer and Lester Luebke.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Wait Ross Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services, 51 Center St., Elgin. Burial will follow in the Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
