Glenn Wayne "Smitty" Smith
Glenn Wayne "Smitty" Smith, 45, of Elgin, died Saturday, July 21, 2001.
He was born May 5, 1956 in Perry, MO, the son of the late Glenn and Jane (nee Elliott) Smith.
He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and worked for United Airlines.
Survivors include his wife of nine years, Sandy (nee Bobek) Smith; his mother; a sister, Lois Barnett; and three brothers, Chuc (Denice), Karl (Judy) and Britt(Candy).
Prayers will be 11 AM, Thursday in the Countryside Funeral Home, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd. (at Barrington Rd.) Streamwood/Schaumburg to St. Thomas More Church for Mass at 12 noon. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be 5-9 PM, Wednesday in the funeral home.

Kenneth R. Sorensen
Kenneth R. Sorensen, 47, of Bartlett passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 23, 2001.
He was born July 17, 1954 in Chicago, the son of Kenneth W. and Novella (nee Meier) Sorensen.
He was a heavy equipment operator for Rimer Bros., T&W; Ed Meier and Plote Construction Co. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers and the Midwest Operating Engineers Local 150 for 25 years.
Survivors include his mother of Bartlett; two sons, Michael (Jennifer) of Arizona and Stephen of East Dundee; two grandchildren, Michael Jr. and Jordyn; three sisters, Faith (Pete) Hansen of Burlington, Jan Fink of South Elgin and Lori (Ralph) Schmitz of Plainfield; a brother, David of Austin, Texas; six nieces; three nephews; two aunts; three uncles; many cousins; dear friend, Jackie Hill of Streamwood; and his beloved dog, Trooper.
He was preceded in death by his father; his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Funeral Services will be 8 p.m., Wednesday in the Countryside Funeral Home & Crematory, 950 South Bartlett Rd. (at Sterns) Bartlett. Cremation will be private with interment of cremains in Bartlett cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Wednesday in the funeral home.

Marilyn Mickey Wehner
Marilyn Mickey Wehner, 63, of Lake in the Hills, formerly of Elgin, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2001 in Provena St.Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
She was born Oct. 5, 1937 in Kent, Iowa, the daughter of Glenn and Darlene Mickey.
Marilyn was a graduate of the University of Iowa, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She achieved her Masters degree from Northern Illinois University. Marilyn was a teacher in School District U-46 for 17 years at Wayne Elementary and Abbott Junior High Schools prior to her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elgin.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph, whom she married on April 5, 1957; two children, Debra (Mark) Hendricks and Jeff (Carrie) Wehner of Elgin; seven grandchildren, Heather, Becky, Ashley, Alissa, Aric, Mickenzie and Mitchell; and her sister, Margarite Minnick of Creston, Iowa.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, George Minnick.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Wednesday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Creston, Iowa on Friday, July 27, 2001.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Provena St. Joseph Hospital.

Hazel Marie Bump
Hazel Marie Bump, age 79 of Harrison, AR, passed away July 22, 2003 at NARMC.
The daughter of Edward and Katie (Allen) Rosenburg, she was born in Granite City, IL on January 24, 1924. She had lived in the Harrison area a short time, moving there from Illinois, is of the Methodist faith, and worked as an accountant for Precision Diamond Tool.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Eugene Parrish; one sister, Kathryn Center; one infant sister, Martha Jane.
She is survived by her husband, George Bump of Harrison; one step-son, Dennis Bump of Littleton, CO; two sisters, Esther Randle and Frances (Myron) Fox all of Harrison; one brother, Edward (Doris) Rosenburg of Marengo, IL; three step-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, July 25 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Coffman Chapel. Services will be Saturday, July 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Coffman Chapel. Interment is in Maplewood cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family.

Edna Konitzki
Edna Konitzki, age 96, of Batavia, died June 19, 2003 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois.
A memorial service to celebrate her life was held at the Holmstad in Batavia on July 18.
She was born January 30, 1907 in Dundee, Illinois, and was a graduate of Elgin High School. She was the daughter or Reuben and Ida Ferguson Royer.
Survivors include stepson Joseph Konitzki and stepdaughters, Frances Fleutze and Barbara Behrens of Tucson, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by husband Kenneth Raecker in 1971 and husband, the late Frank Konitzki and by a sister, Gladys Menching.

Orrie Krueger
Orra Mae Detour-Pederson was born May 17, 1926 in Kankakee, Illinois to Orval and Aurora detour. She was raised in Elgin, IL, where she also attended high school. On June 9, 1945, Orrie married Kenneth C. Krueger in Williamsburg, VA; they then moved back to Elgin where they began a life together at 360 Algona Ave.
Orrie worked at the Elgin Phone Company and Kenneth worked at Frito-Lay Inc. until they started their family, at which time Orrie quit her job to raise their five children. When the children were grown, she went to work for Broadway Tire in Elgin until 1990, when she and Kenneth retired and moved to a house on Crane Lake, near Battle Lake, MN.
On Monday, July 14, 2003, Orrie passed away in her home at the age of 77. She was laid to rest at Eagle Lake cemetery next to her husband, Kenneth, who died six months earlier.
She is survived by her children, Janice (Bruce) Keel of Enterprise, AL, James (Mary) Krueger of Elgin, IL, Jerry (Renee) Krueger of Fargo, ND, Julie (Jack) Otlewis of Lakewood, IL; seventeen grandchildren; her beloved brother-in-law, Donald Fredrick Krueger of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ole and Aurora Pederson; her husband, Kenneth; one son, Jon Kenneth Krueger; three sisters, Cecelia Schultz, Orvalyn Schult and Jean Detour.

Duane H. Miller
Duane H. Miller, 73, of Elgin, formerly of Bellwood, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2004 at Sherman Hospital. He was born October 15, 1930 in Neenah, WI, the son of Henry and Genevieve Trehey Miller. He owned Gen Products in Villa Park before retiring. He had been a resident of Bellwood for many years and had been a resident of Elgin for the past five years. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Marian Nottelmann Miller whom he married on November 29, 1959; three sons, Robert Miller of Belvidere, John (Gina) Miller of Plainfield and William Miller of Elgin; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Jeane Stallings of Carol Stream and Delores Summerville of Melrose Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gordon Miller.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 27 at 8:00 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Velma L. Schumann
Velma L. Schumann, 81 of Elgin passed away Wednesday, July 21 at her home. She was born December 9, 1922 in Springfield, Illinois the daughter of Beulah Gott and Charles B. Marshall. She had been a resident of Elgin for most of her life. She was employed by Illinois Tool Works and was a crossing guard at Bluff City Blvd. and S. Liberty St. before retiring. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Elgin.
Surviving are her daughter, Pamela Keisler of Evansville, Wis; four sons, Michael Schumann of Elgin, Scott (Maryann) Schumann of South Elgin. Jeffrey (Cecelia) Schumann of South Elgin, Timmy (Christine) Schumann of San Diego, Cal; 11 grandchildren and a great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Husband-Harold in 2002, son in law-David Keisler in 1992.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 26 at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Elgin with Rev. Olin Sletto officiating. Entombment will be in Dundee Township East cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Monday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services in the church. Memorials may be given to Provena St. Joseph Hospice or Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Virginia M. Spellmeyer
Virginia M. Spellmeyer, 90, of Elgin, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2004 in her home. She was born April 10, 1914 in Evanston, IL, the daughter of Marshall and Mabel Austin Knox. She had been a resident of Elgin most of her life and attended schools in Elgin and Evanston.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Elgin for over 60 years where she had served as Deacon and a member of the Martha Circle and Christian Service Class. She enjoyed painting and artwork.
Surviving are two daughters, Audrey (Edward) Harman of Elgin and Barbara Peters of Trenton, OH; one son, Robert (Marjorie) Spellmeyer of Hampshire; nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Spellmeyer in 1985; sister, Gertrude Knox and brother, Edward Knox.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, July 27 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Elgin with Rev. Peter Boeve officiating. Burial will be private in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church.

Melvin E. Stotler
Melvin E. Stotler, 87, of Crystal Lake, passed away July 22, 2004 at Crystal Pines, Crystal Lake. He was the son of Isaac and Mary Ursula (Stotler) Stotler. He was born March 28, 1917 in Campgrove, IL.
He was a farmer most of his life in Southern Illinois. Retiring from Wells Mfg. In Woodstock in March of 1984. He then worked part-time as a mechanic at Larry Liles in Woodstock.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Viola Poole, whom he married in 1939; parents, Isaac and Mary Ursula (Stotler) Stotler; nine brothers, Frank, Louie, Orla, Clyde (Smokey), George, Robert, Harold, two infants, Kenneth and James. Also two sisters, Rose Ryan and Luella Stotler.
Surviving are his wife, Sylvia (Roewer) Stotler; one sister, Alice Storey of NC and his children, Kay (Henry) Daufenbach of Elgin, Judy Murison of Carpentersville, James (Lois) Matz of Rockford, Chris Gibson of Crystal Lake, Dan (Lori) Koura of AZ, Lolly (Wayne) Elam of Woodstock, Jan (Sham) Bisram of Crystal Lake and Mitzi (Bill) Bickley of VA; 25 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Querhammer Funeral Home in Crystal Lake, IL with Pastor Jim Campbell officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home and a private wake for the immediate family one hour before the service. Burial will be in the McHenry County Memorial Park cemetery in Woodstock, IL. For more information call the Querhammer Funeral Home at 815-459-1760.

Lawrence Edward "Larry" Teter
Lawrence Edward "Larry" Teter, 71, of Holly Springs, MS, formerly of Elgin, died July 1 in his home.
Larry was a High Performance Engine Specialist, and an NHRA National Champion. He was the Founder of Teter Automotive and Auto Marine Engines. He was a member of the Elgin Elks, the Torquers, and the Cold Ducks. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War.
Larry is survived by his wife, Peggy; three daughters, Terri (Byron) Dalton, Tracy Teter, and Lynn (Alex) Luna; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Finis "Mike" and Grace Teter and a grandson, Brent Austin Loss.
A memorial service will be held July 31 at 2:00 p.m. at the Messiah Lutheran Church, 500 Church Rd., Elgin. Please join us in celebrating and honoring Larry's life. Further info, Tracy Teter (847)468-1719.
