Grace B. Allen
Grace B. Allen, of Elgin, died Monday, February 2, 2004 at Heritage Manor Nursing Center.
Grace was born in West Bend, WI, the daughter of William and Nellis Kissinger. She attended the Wisconsin School for the Blind and graduated from their High School in Janesville. She enjoyed and played the violin, piano, organ, and accordion, and later won first prize on the Morris B. Sachs Amateur Hour for singing, and was later offered a contract by WLS Radio Studios.
Grace was employed by the West Bend Aluminum Factory for 19 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and and adopted brother, Henry.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, Richard; one sister, Muriel Zetttle of West Bend, WI.
"Though your heart is aching and your heart is breaking; leave me with a smile."
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 4, 2004 from 12:00 noon until the time of serivces at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Elgin, Pastor Olin Sletto, officiating. Burial will be in the Bluff City cemetery.

Mary M. Condill
Mary M. Condill, 87, of Elgin passed away Saturday, January 31, 2004 at Sherman West Court, Elgin. She was born April 12, 1916 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Sophia Schaben Collins. Mary was a graduate of St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing in Fort Dodge in 1938. She was a Registered Nurse working private duty at Sherman Hospital and Provena St. Joseph Hospitals until retiring in 1982. She married Arthur J. Condill on August 3, 1941 in Princeton, MO. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Elgin.
Surviving are her two daughters, JoAnn (Chuck) Page of Sutherlin, OR and Blanche (Jack) Freund of Huntley; a son, Arthur J. (Doris) Condill Jr. of Parkland, FL; nine grandchildren, Shelley (Paul) Leman of North Bend, OR, Dayna (Kent) Boekenhauer of Sycamore, Jackie (Mark) Gupta of Hinsdale, Chris (Sandy) Freund of Crystal Lake, Jenny (Nate) Moore of Huntley, Marcus Condill, Stephan Condill, Tobias Condill and Melanie Condill all of Florida; nine great grandchildren, Tyler, Danyelle, Justin, Nathan, Amanda, Michael, Abigail, Brandon and Reece; and three step great grandchildren, Audra Boekenhauer, Kurt Boekenhauer and Steve Boekenhauer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur on November 23, 1980; four sisters, Kate Woods, Clara McFadden, Dorothy Williamson and Margaret Hurley; and two brothers, Robert and Walter Collins.
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, February 4th at 10 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elgin with Rev. Miroslaw Reikowski officiating. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 3 to 8 PM at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services, Elgin Chapel. Prayers will be recited at 7:30 PM Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc., P.O. Box 3950, San Rafael, CA, 94912-3950.

Billy Wayne Nichols
Billy Wayne Nichols, a resident of Green Forest, Arkansas, was born May 26, 1935 in Dawson Springs, Kentucky, a son of Lawrence H. and Imogene Nichols. He departed this life Wednesday, January 28, 2004 in Berryville, Arkansas at the age of 68.
Mr. Nichols was a co-owner of Classic Maintenance. He was of the Christian Faith.
He is survived by two sons, Frank Cardinell, Jr. of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Rick (Penny) Nichols of South Elgin, Illinois; four daughters, Kathleen (Dionisio) Lorenzo of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Sherry (Tom) Huntley of Hebron, Illinois, Deborah (Don) Layne of St. Charles, Illinois, and Linda (John) Fields of Littleton, Colorado; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry (Marie) Nichols of Holliday, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Catherine (Foote) Nichols; his parents, Lawrence H. and Imogene Nichols; his daughter, Cindy Andrews.
Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2004 at the Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, Illinois with Rev. Alan Ozment officiating. Interment will be in the Lakeview cemetery in Johnston City, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Local arrangements were by Nelson Funeral Service. Perry Pope
Perry Pope, 64, of Elgin, passed away Friday, January 30 at his home. He was born July 31, 1939 in Elgin to John and Stella (Johnson) Pope.
Perry was a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps and served aboard the U.S.S. Kearsarge. He was honorably discharged in December of 1960. He was a lifelong resident of Elgin. He was employed with the Courier News and School District 54 before retiring. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, classic movies, and spending time with family.
He is survived by his brother, Lyle Pope; his sister, Laverne Petschow; a daughter, Sandy Castelvecchi; sons, Dale Pope and David (Angie) Pope; grandchildren, Dina, Marina, Anthony, Dominic, Jaymin; and a host of family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Deloris Rowley; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Pope.
Burial will be private. Laird Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Harvey B. Saxe
Harvey B. Saxe, 81, of Fort Atkinson, passed away surrounded by his family who loved him on Sunday, February 1, 2004 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee following a brief illness.
Harvey was born April 15, 1922 in Elgin, IL, the son of the late Harvey B. and Ida Sjunnesson Saxe. He married the former Mary Pace of Elgin on August 3, 1946, in Elgin.
A graduate of Elgin High School, Harvey had been employed as a salesman in Elgin, moving to Fort Atkinson nine years ago. He had been a member of the Lions Club in Fort Atkinson and Elgin for 35 years, served on the Elgin Fire and Police Commission for five years, was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Elgin for 70 years where he served in several capacities, and was affiliated with Faith Community Church in Fort Atkinson.
Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Mary; one son, Harvey Laurence "Larry" (Lynn) Saxe of Elgin; one daughter, Diane Saxe of Fort Atkinson; two grandchildren, Heather and Bethany, both of Elgin; one sister, Blanche Benton of Victorville, CA; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and dear friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 3, 2004 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Faith Community Church in Fort Atkinson. Another visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2004 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2700 W. Highland Ave. in Elgin. The visitation will be followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
If desired, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
Dunlap Memorial Home is assisting the family.
Harvey was a kind and gentle man who loved his family and will be remembered for his friendliness and sense of humor.

Jose A. Villanueva
Jose A. Villanueva, 33, of Elgin died Sunday at St. Joseph Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jose B. Villanueva in 1999.
Jose is survived by his mother, Emelia of Elgin; two sisters, Maria Villanueva and Elisabet (Bartolome) Garcia, both of Elgin; one brother, Eriberto (Kristy) Villanueva of Elgin; one niece, Keria Aalsma of Elgin; a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 4, 2004 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin. The funeral will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Jorge Romero officiating. Burial will be in the Dundee Township cemetery West. Memorials may be made to the family. Alvin R. Blietz
Alvin R. Blietz, 80, of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2005 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born on August 23, 1924 in Kimball, SD, and was the son of Alfred and Bertha Blietz.
He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Alvin had worked at Shakeproof 46 years prior to his retirement.
Member of the St. John's Lutheran Church of Elgin, and he was a member of the Elgin Genealogical Society.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia (Pfortmiller), to whom he married on March 20, 1954.; and his daughter, Cynthia Blietz of South Holland, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Cheryl Blietz; and his brother, Duane Blietz.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 4, 2005 at 1:00 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, with Rev. Thomas Niermann, officiating. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 12:00 Noon until the time of services in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.

Gladys M. DeGregorio
Gladys M. DeGregorio, 79, of Algonquin, IL, formerly of Farrell, PA, died Monday morning, January 31, 2005, at her home. She was born March 20, 1925, in Harrisville, PA. She was the daughter of Eli and Gladys (nee Bixler) Danoff. Mrs. DeGregorio was an eight-year resident of Algonqion and a former 50-year resident of Farrell.
She was a registered nurse and then a mother for a majority of her life. She attended St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, West Dundee. She was a former member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Farrell, PA, where she sang in the choir and was the church gardener for many years. She loved being in her garden and was a gifted rose grower. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and baking for her family.
She is survived by her children, Ronald of Fargo, ND, Gary (Susan) of Sleepy Hollow, IL, and Joyce (William) Gronde of Indianapolis, IN; eight grandchildren; one sister, Eleanor (Ted) Bukowski, New Castle, PA; and one adoptive brother, Dr. Mike Danoff, Pittsburgh, PA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Joseph F. DeGregorio; and her brothers, Clyde, Boris, and Chip.
Family and friends will meet for funeral mass on Saturday at 10:00AM in the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee. The Rev. Richard A. Rosinski, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Friday in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee from 6-9PM and on Saturday in church from 9:00AM until time of mass.

Donald O. Morris Sr.
Donald O. Morris Sr., 80, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2005 in his home. He was born on June 28, 1924 in Rochelle, IL and was the son of Orvall and Ada Mae Morris. He was a Veteran and served in the US Navy During W.W.II.
Member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #799. Member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Elgin.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou, whom he married on Oct. 11, 1947; five children, Donald Orvall (Shirlee) Morris Jr., of Elgin, Richard Morris of Morrisonville, IL, Ruth Engelking of Machesney Park, IL, Mary (John) Steffen of Elgin, IL, Linda Grundman of Omaha, NB; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Doc Morris of Rochelle, IL; four sisters, Beatrice Foster of DeKalb, IL, Lou (Carl) Schaubecker of Rochelle, IL, Katy (Paul) Carlson of DeKalb, IL., and Betty Holderness of DeKalb, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and two sisters.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2005 at 4:00 P.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Visitation will be on Saturday from 3:00 P.M. until the time of services in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.

Mildred L. "Millie" Peterson
Mildred L. "Millie" (nee Halliday) Peterson, 86, of Carpentersville died Monday, January 31, 2005 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born in Carbondale, Illinois on June 13, 1918.
Millie was a resident of Carpentersville for over 60 years. She was a former employee of the Elgin National Watch Co. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Carpentersville. Millie was a former many year volunteer at Sherman Hospital and a member of Women's Auxiliary, as well as a very strong supporter of The Heartland Blood Centers, donating over seven and a half gallons of blood during her lifetime. Millie was an avid gardener and loved being outside working in her garden and yard.
She is survived by her children, James R. (Anne) Peterson and Sue (William) Palumbo of Plymouth, Indiana; her grandchildren, Mia Palumbo, Ryan Peterson, and Pamela (Sergio) Castro; her great-grandson, Ben Castro.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, Ralph W. Peterson on June 18, 2002, whom she married on December 31, 1940.
Millie was a believer in Medical Research. Because of her giving spirit and generous heart, she has donated her body to medical science. At her request, there will be no services. Remembrances may be made in her memory to Sherman Hospital Auxiliary. Arrangements were made by the Miller Funeral Home in West Dundee.

Chapman L. Smith, Sr.
Chapman L. Smith, Sr., 73, of Port St. Lucie, FL, died Tuesday, February 1 at St. Lucie Medical Center, Port St. Lucie.
He was born in Elgin, IL and had been a resident of Port St. Lucie since 1997 coming from Hollywood, FL. He was an independent insurance agent for 25 years throughout Florida. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Port St. Lucie, FL and was a member of the American Legion in Fort Pierce. He enjoyed fishing and playing with his dog.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Violet M. Smith of Port St. Lucie, FL; a son, Chapman L. Smith, Jr. of Hollywood, FL; four daughters, Lynel Reeves of West Palm Beach, FL, Christina Bouchoc of Charles Town, WV; Kelly Fritz of Marengo, IL and Cheryl Smith of Bradenton, FL; and nine grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, February 5 at 11 AM at the First Baptist Church of Port St. Lucie. Pastor Bryan Harrington will officiate.
Aycock Funeral Home, Port St. Lucie, FL is in charge of arrangements.

Doris Kay Starks
Doris Kay Starks, 52, of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2005 in her home. Born May 3, 1952 in Whitwell, TN, the daughter of Roy and Clara Hamblen.
She had been a resident of Elgin for the past 40 years. She was employed by Bank One in Elgin.
Member of St. Peters Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her husband, Edward; two daughters, Bonnie (Engtong) Tang of South Elgin and Bridget Starks of Elgin; three sons, Brian, Bradley, and Brent Starks of Elgin; four granddaughters, Stephanie Starks, Emily, Amy and Sarah Tang; her mother of Dixon, IL; and one brother, Bobby (Barb) Hamblen of Elgin.
She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Jeff.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, with Rev. Robert Degner, officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM, until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Diabetes Association.
