Monica M. Keisler
Monica M. Keisler, 77, of Elgin Township passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at her home. She was born March 19, 1926 in Burlington, IL, the daughter of Chris and Loretta (Haderer) Axelsen.
Monica was united in marriage to Lloyd A. Keisler on August 28, 1943 and they spent the next 60 happy years together. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
Mrs. Keisler was a long time member of Zion United Methodist Church of Hampshire, IL.
She is survived by her husband Lloyde, her son Dwayne of Elgin, her sister Norma (Howard) Crawford of Elburn, daughter-in-law Linda Keisler of Clifton, IL, brother-in-law Laverne (Alice) Keisler of Elgin, Kenneth Greve of WI, sister-in-law Dodie Keisler of Dundee, IL, eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Ruth Ann Park, her son Dale, a sister-in-law Aelene Greve, daughter-in-law Vi Keisler, two brothers-in-law Donald Keisler and Maune Jensen and her father and mother-in-law August and Christine Keisler.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2003 at 1 p.m. at Madison Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dundee Township cemetery, East. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Anderson Animal Shelter or Hospice of Northeastern Illinois.

Edward Laney
Edward Laney, 71, of Leesburg passed away Monday, August 25, 2003. He was born in Youngstown, OH. He lived in the Streamwood, IL and Des Plaines, IL area for 40 years. He moved to Leesburg, FL from Stuart, FL in 2001. Mr. Laney was a retired operations engineer with Local Union No. 150 International Operating Engineers, Chicago, IL. He was an Air Force Veteran of Korea. Mr. Laney was a Catholic. He was a memberof the Eustis Gun Club and Pembrooke Fairways Fishing Club.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret M. Laney of Leesburg, FL; two sons, Edward J. Laney of West Palm Beach, FL and Glenn M. (Joanne) Laney of Westerville, OH; a daughter, Cynthia A. (Peter) Mecca of Wellington, FL; one brother, Gary Laney of Surprise, AZ; five grandchildren, David and Alana Ansaroff, Matthew Mecca, and Eric and Julianne Laney.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Lake/Sumter Co., 12300 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778.

Lenore Lange
Lenore Lange, 85 of Elgin passed away Saturday, August 30, 2003 at Sherman Hospital. She was born June 13, 1918 in Elgin, the daughter of Julius and Lillian Willert Voight.
Survivors include one stepson, Gary (LaVonne) Lange of Elgin; one stepdaughter, Sue (Michael) Stone of AZ; two granddaughters; five step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; one brother, Franklin (Joyce) Voight of MI; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald C. Lange in 1982; one son, Leonard Jones.
Funeral services will take place on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin. Burial will take place at Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Leonard J. Sopha
Leonard J. Sopha, 87, of Elgin died September 1, 2003. He was born August 2, 1916 in Canada, the son of Dolph and Pricilla Sopha.
Survivors include one son, Timothy (Constance) Sopha of Elgin; one daughter, Darlene (Lesle) Byrne of Florida; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Philip (Marie) Sopha of Canada and Lawrence (Virginia) Sopha of Michigan; two sisters, Armodine Benard and Doreen (Harold) Dietrich; a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Maxine; two sons, Ronald and Lawrence; one brother, Clarence; two sisters, Dorris and Veronica; and parents.
Visitation will be held from 4-9 p.m. at O'Connor & Homeier Funeral Home Thursday, September 4, 2003. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Valentine Church in MI on Saturday, September 6, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre cemetery in Southfield, MI.

Carl DeFranco
Carl DeFranco, 81, of Elgin passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2004 in the Rosewood Care Center, Elgin. He was born on May 7, 1923 in Savanna, IL, and was the son of Epifanio and Concetta (Ogeneba) DeFranco.
Carl was a Veteran and served in the US Navy during WWII. He had worked as an Engineer for the Milwaukee Rail Road 35 years prior to his retirement. Carl was an avid gardener, and enjoyed growing tomatoes.
Member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly, whom he married on July 11, 1942; a son, Jay (Kathleen) DeFranco of Olney, MD; two grandchildren, Nicole (Michael) Rich and Christopher DeFranco; three great grandchildren, Madison, Nicholas and Hunter Rae; two brothers, Michael (Jean) DeFranco of Chicago and Louis (Theresa) DeFranco of WA; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and sisters.
Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2004 at 1:00 PM in the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin. Entombment will follow in Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8:00 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Saturday in the church from 12:30 PM until the time of services.

Ralph M. Mitchell
Ralph M. Mitchell, 73, of South Elgin, died Thursday, September 2, 2004 at his home.
Born April 18, 1931 in Berman, Germany, son of Max and Hildegard (Simon) Mitchell. Veteran of the Korean conflict serving in the U.S. Air Force. He married Julianne Carney on March 11, 1976 in Geneva, IL. Employed as an electrical engineer by Motorola for many years, he was a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, American Legion and the Lions Club. He received many patent awards from Motorola and attended St. Laurence Church in Elgin.
Survivors include wife, Julianne Mitchell of South Elgin; sons, Ryan Mitchell of Elgin, Robert Mitchell of Chicago and Thomas (Elda) Jarvi of Manchester, CT; daughters, Margaret (Peter) Welsh of Elgin, Elizabeth (Lonnie) Richason of Gilberts, Suzanne (Randy) Hector of Rock Falls, Therese (James) Ward of DeKalb and Elizabeth (Brandon) Salter of Batavia.
Visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, September 5, 2004 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Hwy, Marengo, Illinois 60152. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 6, 2004 at the funeral home with Pastor Kitty Ganzel of DeKaln United Methodist Church officiating. Burial in Sacred Heart cemetery. Milton W. Petschow
Milton W. Petschow, 83, of Elgin passed away Thursday, September 2, 2004 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born on February 24, 1921 in Elgin and was the son of Paul and Ida (Gilly) Petschow.
Milton was a Veteran and served in the US Coast Guard. He had worked for 25 years at McGraw Edison, ToastMaster Division and Armin & Tool for 26 years prior to his retirement. Milton was a outdoorsman and enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was a member of the South Elgin Lion's Club.
He is survived by his three children, Craig (Ann) Petschow of South Elgin, Kim (Mary) Petschow of Plato Center, IL. and Gaye (Greg) Wallace of Hampshire, IL; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his special friend, Rose Rice of Morton, IL. He is also survived by two brothers, Arthur (LaVerne) Petschow of South Elgin and Charles (Carol) Petschow of Texas; four sisters, Dorothy (Lyle) Holth of Bartlett, IL, Nancy (Albert) Gehringer of Hampshire, Arlene Hurley and Caroline Woodall both of Elgin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jane Petschow in 1984; his brother, John Petschow in 1988; and his grandson, John.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Emma A. Beecken
Emma A. Beecken, 98, of Elgin, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2001 in Sherman West Court, Elgin.
Survivors include her loving sons, Rev. Herbert J. (Keiko), Rev. James P.(Delores) and John W. (Elaine); seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Peter H. Beecken.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Thursday in St. Paul United Church of Christ, Bloomingdale, the Rev. James Beecken officiating. Interment will be private.
Visitation will be 3:30-9 p.m., Wednesday in the Martin Funeral Home, 333 S. Roselle Rd., Roselle.

Leo Edward Calvert
Leo Edward Calvert, 73, of Elgin, IL passed away Friday, August 31, 2001 in Sherman Hospital.
He was born September 3, 1927 in Bayard, Iowa, the son of the late Alonzo and Verna Calvert.
Mr. Calvert was the Valedictorian of his high school Class of 1945. He received his Bachelors of Music Education and Master of Music Education from Drake University. He was the Choir Director for First United Methodist Church in Dundee, IL for several years. Always the consummate showman, Mr. Calvert thoroughly enjoyed any opportunity to be on stage which included the Elgin Follies or conducting the Elgin Symphony in playing the "Stars and Stripes Forever". He was a high school music teacher, an Educational Consultant, Choir Director, Elgin Symphony Board member, Elgin Symphony League member, a member of First United Methodist Church, Elgin, a World War II veteran, a member of Illinois Bookmen Association and a member of Phi Mu Alpha.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth (Simmons) Calvert; daughters, Lisa Calvert of Oak Park, IL, Kristin Bunnell of Bourbannais, IL and Jill Rittgarn of Elgin, IL; his son, Bruce Calvert of Antioch, IL; nine grandchildren; a great grandchild; and his brother, Lester Calvert of Des Moines, Iowa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Max Calvert.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, September 8, 2001 in the First United Methodist Church, Elgin with Rev. Larry Pickens and Rev. Fred Eisenhut of First United Methodist Churches of Elgin and Oswego.

Mary B. Cox
Mary B. Cox, 72, of Lyons, Ga., died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001 in Meadows Memorial Hospital, Vidalia, Ga.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Cox, whom she married on June 19, 1976; two sons, Donald (Suzanne)Booker of McHenry and Gene Booker of Elgin; three step-sons, Fred M. (Lena) Cox of Phoenix, Ariz., Thomas (Roberta) Cox of Fairbanks, Alaska and Steven (Patty) Cox of Margate, Fla.; a daughter, Barbara (Robert) McIntosh of Belvidere; four sisters, Jean (Robert) Garrett of Conway, Ark., Donna Andresen of Batavia, Karen (Frank) Kerner of Wis. and Linda Behm of Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Connor.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001 at the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel, the Rev. Ralph McFadden officiating.

Richard C. Deihs
Richard C. Deihs, 72, of Elgin, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
He was born Feb. 9, 1929 in Elgin, the son of Carl and Martha Deihs.
Survivors include his wife, Carole of Elgin; a son, Carl Deihs of South Elgin; two step-children, Debbie (Ray) Weeks of Dekalb and Ray (Pam) Quist of Elgin; and five grandchildren, Samantha, Robert, Amanda, Jamie and Allison.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be private.
Laird Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements.
