Rosella Eschbach
Rosella Eschbach, 94, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
She was born Jan. 15, 1907 in Huntley, the daughter of Emil and Clara Wicknick.
Rosella was a graduate of Ellis Business School. She had worked at the Elgin National Watch Factory and was the longtime Cook at Elgin Academy prior to her retirement.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Elgin; a longtime volunteer at the Salvation Army; and a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge #799.
Survivors include a daughter, Genevieve (Edward) Schock of Elgin; seven grandchildren, Pamela Schultz of East Dundee, Edward A. (Karen) Schock, Janis (Thomas) Musial, Karen (William) Roloff, Gregory (Jane) Schock, all of Elgin, Susan (Keith) Kmieciak of South Elgin and Deborah Smith of Florida; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and many close family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers; and sisters.
Funeral Mass will be 9:45 a.m., Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin, the Rev. Edward Seisser officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Thursday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Friday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass.

Conrad "Sonny" Daniel Fahlen
Conrad "Sonny" Daniel Fahlen, 62 of Lanark, IL, formerly of Elgin, died Monday, September 3, 2001 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Mr. Carroll, IL.
Sonny was born August 16, 1939 in Madison, WI, the son of Conrad and Amy (Stewart) Fahlen, Sr.
He married Mary Sterbenz April 18, 1959. He loved hunting, fishing, bowling, and watching westerns. Sonny had previously worked at Drives, Fulton, IL. He moved to Elgin in 1967 and worked at the Shakeproof Co. for 15 years. In 1997, Sonny moved to Lanark and worked at Rolling Hills Progress Center for two years. He also worked at Don Hart's Auto in Lanark for 1 1/2 years.
Sonny's family includes a son, Conrad "Dan" (Debbie) Fahlen, Jr of McHenry; four daughters, Dena (Dutch) Burton of Elgin, Connie (Kevin) Strebel of Carpentersville, Teresa Kerley of St Charles, and Darcy Crowe of Elgin; ten grandchildren; a great granddaughter; a brother, Raymond Fahlen of Mt. Dora, FL; and a sister, Gladys (Clyde) Knautz of Chadwick, IL.
He was preceded in death by both parents; two sister; a son; a daughter; two grandchildren; and a great grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, September 7, 2001 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna, IL. Burial will in the Savanna Township cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-9 PM Thursday, September 6 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home in Savanna.
A memorial fund has been established in Sonny's name.

James A. Ginnell
James A. Ginnell, 85, of Elgin, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital.
He was born March 22, 1916 in Elgin, the son of John J. and Marguerite (Brayman) Ginnell.
Jim was a veteran stationed in North Africa and Anzio Beach Head, Italy, with the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II. He had worked for the Elgin Sanitary District for 23 years and then worked for School District U-46 ten more years prior to his retirement. He was a 60 + year member of the Elgin Pigeon Club, a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge # 799.
Survivors include a sister, Mary (Jerry) Prachar of Algonquin, IL; his close friend and companion, Ruth Porter of Elgin; sister-in-law, Charlotte Ginnell of Elgin; and many close family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beatrice (Bochum) in 1993; his brother, John P. Ginnell; and two sisters, Kathryn Leitner and Margaret Ginnell.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Dominic Cassidy officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Laurence Building Renovation Fund.

Nettie R. Johnson
Nettie R. Johnson, 78, of Elgin, died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001 in Heritage Manor, Elgin.
She was born March 27, 1923 in Chicago, the daughter of Russell and Mamie Sublett Johnson.
She had been employed by Curtis Candy Co. and later as a supervising clerk for Speigel Co.
Survivors include her son, Charles (Mary) Jones of Chicago; her daughter, Sheila Clay of Carpentersville; two sisters, Mary Hines of Evanston and Earlene Smith of Chicago; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell Johnson Jr. and Alfred Johnson; and her sister, Arlene Johnson.
Funeral Services and burial will be private.
Arrangements were handled by Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Chapel.

Rosemary Miller
Rosemary (nee Wood) Miller, 54, of SpringValley, Ill., formerly of Hampton, Iowa and Hampshire, Ill., died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001 in St. Margaret's Hospital, SpringValley.
She was born March 11, 1947, the daughter of Walter "Pete" and Catherine "Kate" Wood in Ft. Dodge, Iowa.
She was a graduate of Ft. Dodge High School, class of 1965. Rosemary married her high school sweetheart, Douglas M. Miller in Ft. Dodge on Aug. 22, 1965. In 1976 she was a member of the Young Democrats for Carter. Rosemary loved flowers and gardening and was a member of the local garden club. She also enjoyed bird watching and walking her beloved cocker spaniel, Hope.
Survivors include her husband; her parents; two brothers, Walter (Janice) Wood and William (Fran) Wood, both of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; a sister, Joyce (Gary) Vanarsdale of W. Richland, Wash.; a daughter, Karen (Paul) Beauchamp of Genoa; a son, Jay (Pam) Miller of Detroit, Mich.; and her special angels her grandchildren, Karli and Kayti Beauchamp and Alexis and Jayson Miller.
A Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 7, 2001 at First Southern Baptist Church, Ft. Dodge, Iowa.

Leo Edward Rees
Leo Edward Rees, 71, of Streamwood passed away Thursday, August 30, 2001 at home in Streamwood.
He was born June 10, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Thomas and Hazel (nee Ward) Rees.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian nee Sweeney; two children, Rita (Mark) Schoppe of Bartlett and Glenn (Diane) Rees of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Jonathan, Brandon, David and Steven; a brother, David Rees of California; a sister, Marjorie Brennan of MI; a sister-in-law, Edith Rees of MI; a brother-in-law, Earl Lancaster of Oregon; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be at 10 AM Friday, September 7, 2001 in the Countryside Funeral Home, 950 South Bartlett Road (at Stearns Rd.), Bartlett. Roadside Services will follow at 1 PM in Abraham Lincoln National cemetery, Elwood, IL.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 PM in the funeral home.

Emily L. Schweitzer
Emily L. Schweitzer, 89, of West Dundee died Saturday, September 1, 2001 at the Rosewood Care Center, Elgin.
She was born in Chicago on October 27, 1911, the daughter of Edmund O. and Lillian L. (nee Merz) Schweitzer.
She was a 47 year resident of the Dundee area, and was a nationally renowned breeder of Irish Setters. Emily was always respected and endeared for generosity to people and animals. The Anderson Animal Shelter exists today because of her interest and the donation of the land upon which it rests.
She is survived by her sister, Evelyn S. (John) Strepek of West Dundee; a nephew, Edmund O. Schweitzer, III of Pullman, Washington; two nieces, Jean Schweitzer of Seattle, Washington and Marilyn (Michael Firman) Schweitzer of Naperville; and a sister-in-law, Thelma Schweitzer of Northbrook. Emily is also survived by many dear friends especially Mary Zimmerman of Barrington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Edmund O. Schweitzer, Jr.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday at 11 AM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Interment will follow in the Graceland cemetery, Chicago.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 9 AM until time of Services.
Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the Anderson Animal Shelter of South Elgin.

Harry L. Braun
Harry L. Braun, 74 of Cary Illinois, died Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at Good Shepherd Hospital. Born February 12, 1928 in Elmwood Park, Illinois, to Erwim and Alta Mary (Lauffer) Braun. Harry served in the US Army, 82nd Airborne Division at the end of WWII and in the 101st Airborne Division during the Korean conflict. He was the owner and operator of the Harry L. Braun Company in Crystal Lake, a tool and die manufacturing company. He began his working career with Harkness Engineering in Brooklyn Center, MN, and then continued for 16 years with the Arthur R. Braun Company in Cary, IL. He established two businesses in Algonquin, the Harry L. Braun Company in 1962 and Hi-Tek Molding in 1983. He was a past president of the Algonquin Business Association, now the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commerce of which he and his wife were founding members. He was on the Board of Trustees of Judson College, he served on the Board of Society of Plastics Industries, he was a founding member of the lake Region YMCA Board of Directors. He was also a member of the National Board of Directors of American Mold Builders Association. He was a member of the Woodstock Assembly of God Church and a member of the Crystal Lake Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by two sons, Joseph (Jan) Braun of St. Cloud, MN and Thomas (Janis) Braun of Crystal Lake, IL; his daughter, Sue (Bruce) Smith of Moline, IL; six grandchildren, Erica, Aaron and Mark Smith, Elizabeth, Ehern and Colin Braun; his niece Pam (Phil Denaro) Baker and his nephews, Edmund (Kay) Braun, Craig (Dale) Braun.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irma (nee Harner) to whom he was married on April 2, 1949 and preceded him on May 10, 2002; his three brothers, Edmund, Arthur and Gerald; and his sister, Lydia Baylor.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. at Wait Ross Allanson Algonquin Funeral Chapel, 201 S. Main St. Algonquin, Illinois with the Rev. Frank Amico and Rev. Neal Lindwal of the Woodstock Assembly of God Church officiating.
Friends and family may call prior to the memorial service at the funeral home from 11 a.m until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Harry's name may be made to the North Woods Wildlife Center, Hwy 70 West and Blumstein Road, Minocqua, WI 54548.

Joseph P. Couture
Joseph P. Couture, 52 of Elgin, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2002 in Rush Presbyterian St. Lukes Hospital in Chicago. He was born September 13, 1949 in Gardiner, Maine and was the son of Ovide and Betty Couture. He had been a resident of Elgin for the past 16 years and owned and operated O.G.F. Service Co. in Elgin. He was a veteran, having served in the Army.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Elgin. He was also a member of the N.E.N.A. and Abode.
Surviving are his wife, Betsy; three sons, Brandon Couture of Elgin, Patrick (Donna) Couture of Maine and David Ham of Elgin; two daughters, Carrie Sorenson of Maine and Erin (Donald) Stevens of Maine; five grandchildren; his mother, Betty of Gardiner, Maine; five brothers; one sister; and many friends.
Joseph was preceded in death by his father, Ovide; and four brothers.
Funeral Mass will be said at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 6, 2002 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Burial will be private. Visitation will be at the time of services only. Laird Funeral Home in Elgin is in charge of services.
Omission of flowers is requested. Memorials may be given to the Joseph P. Couture Fund in care of the Elgin State Bank, 455 Summit St., Elgin, IL. 60120.

Marvin W. Eickstadt
Marvin W. Eickstadt, 81, of Marengo, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at Sherman Hospital. He was born March 30, 1921 in Riley Township, near Marengo, the son of George and Lena (Mueller) Eickstadt.
He worked many years at Arnold Engineering Company in Marengo and was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: two sisters, Florence (Robert) Anderson of Elgin and Geri (Larry) Dale of Streamwood; sister-in-law, Lois Eickstadt of Union; four nephews, John Eickstadt of Union, Scott (Janice) Dale of Idaho, Doug (Alice) Dale of New Jersey and Joe Dale of Chicago; six nieces, Nancy Brown of Wisconsin, Cindy (Steve) Gaye of Dundee, Kathi (Les) Linz of Woodstock, Anne Eickstadt of Union, Lori (Eddie) Jones of Kentucky and Marci (Mark) Frederick of Ohio. preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Eickstadt of Union, nephew Keith Schmidt of Florida, grand nephew Chris Brown of Wisconsin.
Funeral service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Marengo on Friday at 11AM with Reverend Glen Borhart officiating. Burial Marengo City cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church from 6-8PM and on Friday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Zion Lutheran Church, Marengo.

Joseph E. Fillmore
Joseph E. Fillmore, 69 of Elgin passed away September 2, 2002 at home. He was born October 11, 1932 the son of Charles and Sara Fillmore. He is survived by three sons, William (Kimberley) of Montgomery, Minnesota, Jeffrey (Stacy) of Rockford, and Christopher of Crystal Lake; five grandsons; a brother, James Fillmore of Elgin and loving ex-wife and friend of 27 years Bea Fillmore of Elgin. Joseph loved his grandchildren, fishing, all sports and coin collecting. Proceeded in death by his parents, and a brother Richard Fillmore. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2002 in the O'Connor and Homeier Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, September 6, 2002 in O'Connor and Homeier Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Andrew C. Hougan officiating. Private burial will take place at Mt. Hope cemetery.
