Jane E. Kickel
Jane E. Kickel, 71, of Key Largo, FL, and Northbrook, IL, died on August 31, 2004. She was active in the Northbrook Youth Hockey League and had been the North Brook Park District Accountant for many years. She and her husband, AL, wintered in the Florida Keys for 35 years before making a permanent move five years ago. She was an avid angler and enjoyed the ladies luncheons at the Harborage.
Jane is survived by her husband, Alfred of Key Largo; two sons, Jon (Judi) Kickel of IL and Ryan Kickel of FL; four grandchildren, Tim Kickel, Chandra Chambliss, Clancy and Christopher Nush, all of IL; one sister, Ginger (Rolf) Doerfle; and one brother, Rick (Judy) Lamz, all of IL.

Arthur Hoppenstedt
Arthur Hoppenstedt, 85, of Elgin, passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin.
He was born Dec. 27, 1915 in Stager, Ill., the son of Henry and Emma Hoppenstedt.
He served on the Mission Board of Lutheran Church Missouri Synd for four years; was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Elgin, former member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Elgin and a member of the Elgin Toastmasters. He retired from Ill. Dept. of Children and Family Services. A former Board member of Mary Bryant Home in Springfield; served as an instructor for the Chicago Lighthouse. He was a graduate of Elmhurst College in 1940 and received his master's degree from the University of Chicago in 1963.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Ruth Banas of Maple Park; two grandsons, Stephen Hoppenstedt of Elgin and Andrew Banas of Minn.; and a granddaughter, Renee Banas of Minn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle; his second wife, Helen; a son, Stephen; five sisters; and four brothers.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001 in Madison Funeral Home, Elgin, the Rev. Herman Christiansen officiating. Burial will be private in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Richard P. Mulhearn
Richard P. Mulhearn, 47, of Carpentersville died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin, following a long eight year battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease.
He was born May 30, 1954 in Chicago, the son of Jerome and Martha (nee Galligan) Mulhearn.
He was a 16 year employee of Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene; two daughters, Heather and Tiffany, both at home; his mother, Martha of Streamwood; a brother, Jerome of Streamwood; and four sisters, Jeanne (Bill) Cook of Roselle, Joyce (Octavio) Garcia of Bartlett, Joann Mulhearn and Rose (Brian) Spina, both of Streamwood.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerome in 1989.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Saturday in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m., Friday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Leo Edward Rees
Leo Edward Rees, 71, of Streamwood passed away Thursday, August 30, 2001 at home in Streamwood.
He was born June 10, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio, the son of the late Thomas and Hazel (nee Ward) Rees.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian nee Sweeney; two children, Rita (Mark) Schoppe of Bartlett and Glenn (Diane) Rees of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Jonathan, Brandon, David and Steven; a brother, David Rees of California; a sister, Marjorie Brennan of MI; a sister-in-law, Edith Rees of MI; a brother-in-law, Earl Lancaster of Oregon; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be at 10 AM Friday, September 7, 2001 in the Countryside Funeral Home, 950 South Bartlett Road (at Stearns Rd.), Bartlett. Roadside Services will follow at 1 PM in Abraham Lincoln National cemetery, Elwood, IL.
Visitation will be 6-9 pm, Thursday in the funeral home.

Esther Lillian Miller Tope
Esther Lillian Miller Tope, 96, of Elgin, passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2001 in the Rosewood Care Center, Elgin.
She was born June 21, 1905 in Rushville, the daughter of Franklin and Carrie Miller.
She had been a resident of Elgin since 1967. She was a Certified Music Teacher and a graduate of Illinois Wesleyen University.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Merrill S. Tope; a daughter, Marilyn (Gary) Doolen of Los Alamos, N.M.; granddaughters, Jane Dolen of Arizona and Connie (David) Sholl of Pittsburgh, Penn.; a great-grandson, Kevin Sholl; a great granddaughter, Rachel Sholl; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Tope of Elgin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Franklin Miller.
Memorial Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday in the Grace United Methodist Church, Elgin. Burial was private in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.

Louise D. Graf
Louise D. Graf, 86 of Elgin passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2003 at Tower Hill Nursing Home, South Elgin. She was born October 27, 1916 in Fort Scott, Kansas, the daughter of George and Elizabeth Greiner Sinn. She had been a resident of the Elgin area since 1935 and had been employed by LeeWards for over 20 years before retiring.
She attended the Apostolic Christian Church of Elgin.
Surviving are her daughter, Jane (Robert) Robison of Clarksville, TN; her son, Gary (Karen) Graf of Elgin; grandchildren, Deborah (Robert) Montavon of Elgin, Jennifer (Michael) Corcoran of Winter Springs, FL, Edward (Ashley) Robison of Clarksville, TN, Andrew Robison of Clarksville, TN; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Avery, Matthew, Eoin, Samantha, Mary, and Niall; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Graf; sisters, Christina Schwind and Ida Sinn; brothers, Frederick, Joseph, George, August, William, Charles, Edward, and Michael Sinn.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Apostolic Christian Church of Elgin.

Esther Marie Kraft
Esther Marie Kraft, 90 of Elgin passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born November 8, 1912 in South Elgin, the daughter of August and Mary Volz Odemmatt. She had been a resident of the Plato Center and Elgin area all of her life.
She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of North Plato.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Frank Young; her second husband, Elmer Kraft; and a brother.
Graveside services will be held Monday, September 8, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at North Plato cemetery on Plank Rd. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.

Sean C. Roberts
Airman First Class Sean C. Roberts, 19 of Evanston passed away Monday, September 1, 2003 in Cumberland County, North Carolina from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born June 7, 1984 in Grand Junction, Colorado the son of Jack A. Roberts and Vicki A. Lopas.
He was a graduate of Evanston Township High School. He was a crew chief on a C-130 stationed at Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina.
Surviving are his mother, Vicki A. (Cecil) Smith of South Elgin; his father, Jack A. Roberts of Evanston; two sisters, Gabriell Smith of South Elgin and Ashley Roberts of South Elgin; two brothers, Joshua and Ethan Smith of South Elgin; his maternal grandmother, Myrna Lopas of Elgin; his maternal grandfather, Charles (Carol) Lopas of Grand Junction, CO; paternal grandfather, Everett (Doris) Roberts of Aurora, CO; paternal great-grandmother, Estle Sinclair of Burlington, CO; maternal great-grandparents, Charles and Marge Lopas of Grand Junction, CO.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 7, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Brookfield Zoo, 3300 Golf Rd., Brookfield, IL 60513

Wilmer J. Rohlwing
Wilmer J. Rohlwing, 79, of Huntley passed away Thursday, September 4, 2003 in his home.
He was born January 16, 1924 in Schaumburg the son of William and Alma (Gieseke) Rohlwing. He was a graduate of Arlington Heights High School. He farmed with his father on the homestead on Rohlwing Road in Schaumburg until 1957 when he moved with his family to a farm in Huntley. Wilmer married Elizabeth L. Hillmer on April 26, 1947 at the St. John Lutheran Church in Forest Park. He retired from farming in 1963 and began a 27 year career as a District Representative for the Aid Association for Lutherans, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Huntley and very active serving through the years as an Elder, Trustee, Chairman of the Congregation, and on the Building Committee.
He served on the Huntley Planning Commission from 1975 until 1999, serving as Chairman for 14 of those years. Upon his retirement form the Planning Commission, September 13, 1999 was declared Wilmer Rohlwing Day in Huntley in his honor.
Survivors include son, David W. (Lauren) Rohlwing of Elgin, two daughters, Nancy (Craig) Dvorak of Huntley and Joyce (Rick) Schmidt of Kirkland; eight grandchildren, Brett and Nicole Rohlwing, Amy (Brian) Nied, Scott and Rebecca Dvorak, Michael, Megan and Sarah Schmidt, and one great-grandchild, Jacob Nied. Also, brothers, Arnold (Gertrude) John (Mae); Melvin (June) and twin brother, Elmer (Evelyn) Rohlwing, and sister, Verona Hinrichs.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth on August 30, 1995, brothers, Norbert and William, and an infant sister, Alma.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, September 8, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 11008 N. Church St., Huntley with the Rev. Charles W. Kittel officiating. Burial will be in McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 PM Sunday at the James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St., Huntley and at the Church prior to services on Monday from 10 to 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Linda L. Stahl
Linda L. Stahl, 51 of Elgin passed away Thursday, September 4, 2003 in her home. She was born November 12, 1951 in Elgin and was the daughter of William and Lucille Stonebreaker. She had been a resident of Elgin all her life and was employed by Bluff City Materials of Bartlett.
Surviving are two sons, Jason (Courtney) Stahl of Elgin and Ryan Stahl of Tucson, Arizona; one brother, Ronald (Constance) Stonebreaker of Elgin; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin with Rev. Roger Pollock officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and then on Monday from 12:00 noon until time of services.

Manuel F. Casas
Manuel F. Casas, 60, of Elgin passed away Friday, September 3, 2004 in Monterray, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He was born February 24, 1944 in Mexico. He had been a resident of Elgin for the past 42 years and had been employed by Shakeproof Division of Illinois Tool Works in Elgin for 33 years before retiring. His loving legacy lives in the hearts of his family.
He was a devoted husband to his wife of 35 years, Flavia. He was the cherished father of four children. His grandchildren were a source of great pride and joy. The memories they have are of a grandpa who played with them, laughed with them and hugged them. He was a man whose faith in God touched those he met. The rest of his family will remember him as a caring brother, favorite uncle and friend. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Elgin.
Surviving are his wife, Flavia Ruiz Casas; four children, Manuel Casas Jr. of Elgin, Jamie (Tara) Casas of Bartlett, Norma (Donald) Thiel and Marcos Casas both of Elgin; two grandchildren, Christina and Nicholas; and three sisters, Alicia Martinez of Elgin, Anselma Arrerdondo of North Carolina and Isabel (Jose) Garcia of St. Charles, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elgin with Rev. Manuel Mendez officiating. Burial will be Mount Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral & Cremation Services, Elgin.

Tessie "Tess" Dawidziak
Tessie "Tess" Dawidziak, 58, of Elgin passed away Friday, September 3, 2004 in her home. She was born on April 16, 1946 in Germany and was the daughter of John and Angela Prokop. After immigrating from Germany with her family, Tessie lived in Chicago for 25 years and attended St. Clements High School. She had been a resident of Elgin for the past 31 years. Tessie spent her entire life collecting angles and playing bingo. She treasured most of all, spending time with her husband, daughters and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Elgin and a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary of Elgin.
Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Peter; five children, Jessica (Jon) Gospodarek of Carpentersville, Michelle (Clarence) Herrmann of Genoa, IL, Lori (Steve) Szurgot of Ohio, Angela (Scott) Speed of Elgin and Crystal (Artenio) Rosario of Carpentersville; 11 grandchildren, Justin, Jacklyn, Ryne, Joshua, twins Nicholas and Nicole, Jacob, Darlene, Karina, Tessa and Lexzandro; her mother, Angela Prokop; three brothers; and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Prokop.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at 10 AM in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elgin. Burial will follow in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 9 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin and then on Wednesday in the church from 9:30 AM until time of the Mass. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Deloris E. Erlbacher
Deloris E. Erlbacher, 80 of Elgin, died Friday, September 3, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital.
Deloris was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin, also a member of American Legion Post #57, and Elgin Eagles Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vern Erlbacher; one sister, Agnes Schuchard.
She is survived by two sisters, Delvina Miller and Johanna Rinne, both of Elgin one sister-in-law, Ella Mae (Ed) Darnell of Elgin; also other sisters and brothers-in-law from Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 6, 2004 at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Funeral services and burial will be in Earling, Iowa. Memorials may be made in Deloris's memory to St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin or the charity of one's choice. For more information, please call (847) 741-1400.
