James W. Harp
James W. Harp, 82, of Elgin passed away Monday, September 13, 2004 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born August 22, 1922 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Charles and Hilda Pickett Harp. James moved to Dundee after the death of his parents and was a graduate of Dundee High School. He had been employed by Elgin Lumber and Supply Co. for many years before retiring.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church of Elgin.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Rabe Harp, whom he married on April 21, 1945 in Elgin; a daughter, Carole Jean (Jeffrey) Kerruish of Elgin; a son-in-law, Bruce A. Harmon of Elgin; a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Harp of Huntley; seven grandchildren, James E. Harp of Marengo, Gary (Michele) Harp and Laurie Harp of Huntley, Thomas, Benjamin and Bethany Harp of Elgin, and Megan (Chad) Rakow of Genoa; a great-grandson, Trent Harp of Huntley; a brother, Paul Harp of Grantsburg, WI; two foster brothers, Vernon (Stella) Holtz of Crystal Lake and Ronnie (Diane) Holtz of Prophetstown, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Shari Kay Harmon; a son, Charles F. Harp; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, 535 N. McLean Blvd., Elgin with Rev. James Fandrey officiating. Burial will be in Washington Reformed Presbyterian Church cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services in the church. Contributions in James' name may be given to Provena Hospice, the American Cancer Society, or Calvary Lutheran Church.

LeRoy L. "Papa" Ortiz
LeRoy L. "Papa" Ortiz, 61, of Carpentersville died Saturday, September 11, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He was born in Sacaton, Arizona on August 12, 1943, the son of Robert and Lupe (nee Lewis) Ortiz. He was a 34 year resident of the Carpentersville area. He retired from Lucent Technologies after working there for over 30 years as a CAD Manager. He attended St. Monica Church, Carpentersville.
He is survived by his three daughters, Janice Ortiz of Carpentersville, Corinne (Robert) O'Donnell of Elgin and Karen Ortiz of Carpentersville; three granddaughters, Christine, Maia and Laila; a great grandson, Elijah. He is also survived by his former wife and friend, Claudia Ortiz of Carpentersville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Gary in 1972 and Brian in 1988.
Funeral Services and burial will be in Blackwater, Arizona. Visitation will be Thursday, 5 to 9 PM in the The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. In lieu of flowers, Masses would be appreciated or memorials may be made to the family.

Hattie Alma Wewetzer (nee Huetter)
Hattie Alma Huetter Wewetzer, 96, of Elgin died Thursday, September 2, 2004 at the Asta Care Center of Elgin. She was born in Elgin on October 17, 1907, the daughter of Jacob and Mary 9nee Tamms) Huetter. Hattie was a life long resident of Elgin. She was a 1924 graduate of Elgin High School and still got together with the three remaining classmates. She also was a graduate of the Ellis Business College. Hattie was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Elgin where she was a member of the choir and was a former deaconess. She served as a substitute organist and pianist, was a member of the Senior Couples Class, the Dorcas and Faith Circles. She volunteered as church secretary and treasurer. She also was a member and former Secretary of the Kane County Home Bureau.
She is survived by her nephew, Richard O'Leary of Algonquin; and her nieces, Samantha Rauth of Ohio and Doreen A. (the late Donald J.) Hendricks of West Dundee. Several great nieces and great nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred Wewetzer in 1987; and two sisters, Louise and Lillian; and a brother, Frank.
Memorial Services celebrating her life will be on Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 3 PM in the First Presbyterian Church, 240 Standish St., Elgin. The Rev. Peter Borve will officiate. Private family graveside services were held on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at the Lakewood Memorial Park cemetery in Elgin. Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Elgin. The Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee was in charge of arrangements.

Terry Lee Alwin
Terry Lee Alwin, 54, of Gilberts died Sunday, September 15, 2002 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
He was born in Elgin on January 10, 1948.
Terry was a life long resident of Gilberts. He was operator of the Karaoke Network, Inc since 1995. Terry enjoyed exploring the treasures of the earth with his metal detector.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Judy "Sadie" (nee Varney) Alwin. They married on December 17, 1965; three sons, Clifford of Gilberts, Jason (Janice) of Geneva and Troy of St. Charles; two grandchildren, Tori and Tommy; his mother and step father, Dora and Charles Kupitz of Huntley; a brother, Scott (Patricia) Alwin of Lake in the Hills. Terry is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford; a brother, Ron; and a sister, Arlene Miller.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday at 11 AM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6 to 9 PM in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.

Charles E. Brown, Jr.
Charles E. Brown, Jr, 59, of Elgin passed away Saturday, September 14, 2002 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
He was born August 15, 1943 in Elgin, IL and was the son of Charles and Mildred (Riley) Brown Sr.
Charles had worked at IHC Construction Co. and Carpentersville Ready Mix as a truck driver for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Suburban Teamsters Local #330 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #799.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary of Elgin; two children, Shelly (Don) Hayward of AR and Kevin Charles (Tammy) Brown of Elgin; four grandchildren, Bailey, DJ and two on the way; two brothers, Mark (Debbie) Brown of Sycamore, IL and Kenny (Jan) Wolter of Elgin, IL; a sister, Judy Knotts of Genoa, IL; his step father, Milton E. Shirley of Hammond, IN; his mother-in-law, Georgia Renard of Elgin, IL; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Steven Brown.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 2 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Prairie cemetery, St. Charles, IL.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Provena St. Joseph Hospital Cancer Care Center.

Rev. Coy Cleghorn
Rev. Coy Cleghorn, 77, of Elgin passed away Saturday, September 14, 2002 in the Arlington Rehabilitation and Living Center, Long Grove, IL.
He was born September 10, 1925 in Alleene, Arkansas and was the son of Floyd and Coelia (Anderson) Cleghorn.
Coy was a veteran, having served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a graduate of Central Bible College in Springfield, MO in 1949. Coy began his Ministry as an Evangelist, and assumed Pastoral positions in Sheridan, AR, England, AR, Des Plaines, IL, Elgin, IL and Olney, IL. Retiring in 1985 after 40 plus years of ministry. Coy was a Lifetime Ordained Minister with the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Pam (Al) Oates, Cathy (Bob) Wozniak both of Gilberts, IL and Debb Cleghorn of Genoa, IL; five grandchildren, Troy (Ann) Oates, Traci (Mark) Eskew, Tiffany Oates, Kimberly (Doug) Seagren and Rachel (Shawn) Gray; five great grandchildren, Croy, Kaleb, Ariel, Magdeline and Colin; four brothers; a sister; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Yvonne in 1999, whom he married on May 29, 1945; two sons, Mark and David in infancy; and a sister.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at 10 AM in the Highland Fellowship Church, 2250 W. Highland Ave, Elgin, IL. Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8:30 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Tuesday from 9:30 AM in the church until the time of Services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arlington Rehabilitation and Living Center, Alzheimer Unit or the church.

Robert Duewel
Robert Duewel, 80, of Elgin passed away Saturday, September 14, 2002 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital.
He was born October 8, 1921 in Elgin, the son of William and Virginia (Goedert) Duewel.
Bob worked in the display department of Sears in Elgin and in West Dundee for over 40 years. Prior to that, he was employed by Ackeman's Department Store in Elgin where he met his future wife, Kathyrn Putnam Duewel and was employed in his father's grocery store on Dundee Ave. He enjoyed building things with his hands, interior design and being with family and his many friends. He was also a member of the Elgin Moose Lodge #799.
He was the beloved father of Ginny (Joseph) Goyer, Bill (Mary) Duewel and Peg (Mike) Luebbing, all of Elgin; grandchildren, Casey (Maria) Cork, Tim (Renee) Cork, Mason Luebbing, Marc (Rachelle) Luebbing, Ashley Luebbing, Abbie, Brad and Kyla Duewel; great grandchildren, Jaci, Jeffrey and Ambrosia Cork and Abrianna Luebbing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and grandson, Kevin Cork.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 10 AM at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin with Reverend Don Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home.

Maria McInerney
Maria McInerney, 85 of Carpentersville died Saturday Sept. 14, 2002 at the Sherman Westcourt Nursing Center in Elgin. She was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia on September 14, 1914 the daughter of William & Maria (nee Kretschmer) Dolgner.
She is survived by her children: Udo Peter Mueller of Montgomery & Gabriele Lautner of Carpentersville (4) grandchildren: (1) Great Granddaughter (1) Sister: Eve Clarkson of East Lake, Ohio. Maria is also survived by a special friend Roberta Taylor of Montgomery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bert A. McInerney on Sept. 25, 1998. They married on March 28, 1952 & (1) Grandson: Mark.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 11:00am in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Tuesday form 9:00am until time of service.

Barbara Cesaroni
Barbara Cesaroni, 71, of Elgin passed away Sunday, September 14, in Rosewood Care Center. She was born February 20, 1932 in Chicago. She had been a resident of Richmond, IL before moving to Elgin in 1988. She was founder of Barr's Temporary Services in Woodstock and Elgin.
Surviving are two sons, Mark (Cheri) Cesaroni of Elgin and Phillip (Julie) Cesaroni of Elgin; five grandchildren, Bradley, Brianna, Brandon, Paxton and Joseph.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dominick in 1996.
Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Laurence Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Kulak officiating. Burial wil be in Sts. Peter & Paul cemetery in Virgil. Visitation will be in the Laird Funeral Home in Elgin on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and then on Thursday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.

Charles R. "Charlie" Hanson
Charles R. "Charlie" Hanson, 75, of rural Oelwein, IA, and formerly of Bartlett and West Dundee, IL, died on Saturday morning, September 13, 2003 at his home after a long illness.
Funeral service 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at the Fayette Community Church, Fayette, IA, with Rev. Carl Tenney officiating. Visitation: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, and for one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. Interment Grandview cemetery, Fayette, IA. Memorial fund: Heart of Iowa Hospice, West Union, IA.
Survivors include his wife: Patricia Hanson of Oelwein; daughter: Kristi Hanson of Elgin, IL; son: Charles Hanson, Jr. of Hampshire, IL; granddaughter: Krisandra Hanson of Elgin, IL.
He owned and operated Hanson Excavating since 1945. He lived in Bartlett, IL and West Dundee, IL where he excavated many of the area's ponds and lakes. He moved back to Oelwein from Illinois in 1991 where he continued his excavation work.

Leo F. Janczewski
Leo F. Janczewski, 73, of Carpentersville died Friday, September 12, 2003 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He was born in Chicago on September 17, 1929 the son of Leon and Marie (nee Gurka) Janczewski. Leo was a resident of the Carpentersville area for 47 years. He worked as an engineer and retired after 40 years with Safety Socket Screw Manufacturing. He was a United States Army Veteran and served in Germany post World War II. Leo was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was devoted to his family.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Estelle "Becky" (nee Mazzullo) Janczewski. They married on August 29, 1953. His children: Lee (Tammy) Janczewski of Marengo and Kathy (Dave) Wilbourn of Algonquin. Three grandsons: Mark, Scott and Evan and one granddaughter: Alyssa "Lyssi". His sister: Cindy (Darrel) Wright of Hoffman Estates. Leo is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Ray.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. The Rev. Dick Gilbert, Chaplain of Sherman Hospital will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.

Frances E. Jurs
Frances E. Jurs, 89, of Gilberts died Sunday at her home. She was born in Crystal Lake on May 12, 1914, the daughter of Otto and Ida Berkley. Mrs. Jurs was a 67 year resident of Gilberts. She was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church of Dundee, a member of the Ladies Aid of the church and a 67 year member of the Gilberts Home Circle.
She is survived by her children, Diane (Rollyn) Anderson and Dennis (Phyllis) Jurs, both of Gilberts; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; one brother, Ralph (Arletta) Berkley of Arizona; three sisters, Marian (Reynold) Johnson of Belvidere, Edna Kiely of Crystal Lake, and Vera Wagner of Matteson, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Marvin W. Jurs, whom she married on June 20, 1936 and who died on April 1, 1994; a son, Darwin K. Jurs on January 18, 1992; her brother, Kenneth Berkley.
Funeral services will be on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the Lakewood Memorial Park, West Dundee. Visitation will be held on Thursday, 4-8pm. Please omit flowers; memorials may be made to either St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Rutland-Dundee Fire Protection District.

Grace C. (Curce) Oliviero
Grace C. (Curce) Oliviero, 81, of Elgin, died Sunday, September 14, 2003 at Sherman Hospital. She was born February 1, 1922 in Elgin, the daughter of Louis and Florence (Serpico) Curce. She had worked at Motorola for several years, and other various Elgin area companies, and she was also a devoted mother, grandmother and homemaker.
She is survived by three daughters, Grace Ann (companion Gilbert); Connie (Jeffrey) Kerber, Sr., and Gerri (Greg) Taylor; three grandchildren, Megan (Joe) Murray, Jeffrey (Rachael) Kerber, Jr., Michael Kerber, four great grandchildren, Anneleise and Nevina Murray, Cheyenne and Paul Kerber. Two sisters: Josephine Miceli and Mollie Insalaco.
She is preceded by her husband Thomas (1994); two brothers Frank and Sam Curce, and one sister Jennie Insalaco.
Services will be Wednesday, 10 a.m., at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elgin with Fr. Reikowski officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 to 9 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 8 p.m. at the O'Connor-Leetz Funeral Home, 364 Division Street, Elgin. For further information, please call (847)-741-1400.

Mark E. Bellamy, 44, of Elgin passed away Friday, September 14, 2001 in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin,
He was born April 10, 1957, the son of Newell and Elsie Bellamy.
He worked as a commercial real estate appraiser at Valuation Counselors in Chicago for 16 years.
Mr. Bellamy was the beloved husband of Margaret (nee Rebek), whom he married August 15, 1982; loving father of Katelyn, ten; dear brother of Randall B. (Nancy) Bellamy, Linda (Lee) Rasmussen and Matthew A. (Linda) Bellamy; dear son-in-law of Gloria Rebek; brother-in-law of Ruth Stern, Nancy and Mary Rebek; uncle of many nieces and nephews; and dear friend of many.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be at 10 AM Tuesday, September 18, 2001 in St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church, Elgin. Cremation will be private.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Monday, September 17, 2001.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be appreciated to the Katelyn Bellamy Education Fund or the American Cancer Society. For information 630-837-8400.
