Janet Marie Kojzarek
Janet Marie Kojzarek, 46, of Elgin passed away Thursday in Rush Presbyterian St. Lukes Hospital, Chicago, IL. She was born May 9, 1956 in Chicago, IL and was the daughter of Robert and Stella (Jurek) Ejka. Janet was employed with Seigle's in Elgin for the last 13 years.
Janet was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Elgin and served as a Eucharistic Minister.
She is survived by her husband, Kurt F. Kojzarek of Elgin; three children, Kurt R., Kevin and Kara, all at home; mother of Elgin; three brothers, William (Kathy) Ejka of Orland Park, IL; Steve and Kenneth (Linda) Ejka, both of Chicago, IL; sister, Donna (Pat) Burns of New Lenox, IL and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father and nephew, Ryan Burns.
Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM in the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery, Justice, IL. Visitation will be on Sunday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin form 3-8:00 PM with Prayers recited at 6:30 PM and on Monday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of services.

Betty Pierros
Betty Pierros, 64, of Elgin went to be with the Lord, Friday, October 18, 2002 in her home. She was born August 18, 1938 in Chicago and was the daughter of Chris and Sotiria Condos. She had been a resident of Elgin most of her life and was a teacher with School District U46 at Glenbrook Elementary School for many years before retiring. Graduate of North Western University, she was an Authoress and published several educational materials for children. She was a devoted wife and loving mother.
Surviving are her husband, Andre; one daughter, Andrea Pierros of Indianapolis, IN; one son, William (Karen) Pierros of Aurora, IL.
Private funeral services will be held in the Laird Funeral Home in West Dundee. Private burial will be in River Valley Memorials Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. in the Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St., (Corner of Third and Oregon St's.) West Dundee.

Helen V. "Honey" Belew
Helen V. "Honey" Belew, age 75, of Elgin, IL died on Friday, October 18, 2002 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
She was born July 26, 1927 in St. Louis Missouri to Calvin and Bessie M. (nee Jones) Gray.
she worked at the Elgin Mental Health Center for over forty years, where she started as a psychiatric aide and became a case manager, retiring in 1991. She was one of the Founders and Lifetime members of the Second Baptist Church. She was a former president of the Ebony Zodia Club, and she was a member of numerous other community organizations: Neighborhood Housing Program, volunteered with the Gail Borden Literacy Program, she volunteered her home to the community in support of voter registration. She gave support to families in need of housing. She received many awards for her commitment to the community.
She is survived by her daughter, Mildred Starks of Elgin, Illinois. A brother, Arnold Gray of Ohio and her sister, Alice L. Cotton of St. Louis, Missouri. A special daughter, Sharon Marquez of South Elgin; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Katie Marie York; two brothers, Lewis and Donald Gray; her sister, Lucille Smith, Louise Prostell, Emma Cozart, Barbara Mitchell and Hazel Brooks and her twin sister, Ellen Gray.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, October 24, at Second Baptist Church of Elgin with the Rev. Nathaniel Edmond officiating.
Burial will be at Bluff City cemetery in Elgin.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 23, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Funeral Chapel and from 11:00 a.m. on Thursday until the time of service.

Raymond W. Hagel
Raymond W. Hagel, 80, of Elgin, died Saturday, October 19, 2002 at his home.
He was born December 19, 1921 to William and Regina Hagel in Elgin.
Raymond was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the American Legion. He was Secretary/Treasurer, David C. Cook Publishing Co. for 40 years.
Survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia Hagel of Elgin; two daughters, Nancy and Carla Hagel; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jacob Tovar.
preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Carl, Fred and Leonard.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Saint Joseph Hospital or to Friends of Judson.

Lavern A. "Bud" Thrun
Lavern A. "Bud" Thrun, 74, of Elgin, Illinois passed away Saturday, October 19, 2002 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin, Illinois.
He was born October 29, 1927 in Pingree Grove, Illinois to John C. and Helma A. (nee Peters) Thrun.
Bud graduated from Elgin High School in 1946. He served in the United States Army following high school. Prior to his retirement, he was a machine operator for Williams Manufacturing.
He is survived by his sisters, Elnora Wilkinson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Heniretta (Douglas) Bates of Gilbertsville, Kentucky, Annabell Micklevitz of East Dundee, IL, Edna Chartier of Round Lake Beach, IL and Helma Rosenthal of Bartlett, IL; 24 nieces and nephews; and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; a brother; a nephew; and two great nephews.
All services will be private. Interment will be private at Washington Memorial cemetery in McQueen's Station, Illinois.
There will be no visitation.

Morris Willaert
Morris Willaert, 98, of Elgin passed away Saturday, October 19, 2002 at Apostolic Christian Resthaven.
He was born November 12, 1903 in Keyem, Belgium and was the son of Charles and Leonie Willaert.
He had resided in the Elgin area most of his life. He had been employed by Elgin Manufacturing Co. for 18 years and then for M. Wolff and Sons of Chicago. Before retiring he was self-employed as a machinist and inventor. He was self-taught and invented bottle-washing and capping machines. His last invention was at the age of 90. He was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife of 75 years, Nina (nee Graf); a daughter, Norma (Willaert) Utt of Elgin; two grandchildren, Tana (Timothy) Steen of Doylestown, PA and Traci (Edward) Hartfiel of Elgin; two great grandchildren, Jordan and Kyle Hartfiel; and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and two brothers.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at 10 AM at the Apostolic Christian Church in Elgin. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery.
Visitation will be in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM and then on Wednesday at the church from 9 AM until time of Services.
Please omit flowers. Memorials would be appreciated to the family or to the Apostolic Christian Church.

Raymond C. Schneider
Raymond C. Schneider, 67, of Port Charlotte, Florida, formerly of Poplar Grove and West Dundee, died Monday, October 14, 2002 at his home. He was born on June 23, 1935 in Elgin.
Ray farmed in the area for a majority of his life. Following his farming career, he was a many year employee of Gould Laboratories where he worked as Building Supervisor. He retired from the NIMCO Corp. in 1999. He was a member of the Army National Guard. Ray was an avid antique collector and active in tractor pulls.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years: Judith (nee Hogarth) Schneider. They married on August 16, 1958. Three children: Wayne of West Dundee, Brian (Brenda) of Capron and Susan (Gene) Mailhot of Poplar Grove. Six grandchildren: Jennifer, Alex, Ray, Taylor, Amy, & Dale. His father Raymond of Barrington Hills. One sister: Mary Smith of Barrington Hills. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother Margaret E. Hintz Schneider on March 13, 1994.
Memorial services will be on Saturday, October 26, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of services in the funeral home. Please omit flowers; memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Dorothy Witt
Dorothy Witt, 80, of New Richmond, WI., formerly of South Elgin, passed away on Saturday October 19, 2002 after a long battle with cancer. She was born October 15, 1922 and lived in South Elgin, IL. until 1971, when the family was transferred to New Richmond, WI.
Dorothy was President of the St. Mary's Woman's Club in Elgin (1963) and also the Immaculate Conception Church of New Richmond from 1978-79.
Survivors are her husband, Ray Witt of New Richmond, WI.; her daughter, Donna (Jerry) Fisher of Elgin, IL.; her son, John (Kathy) Witt of Cave Creek, AZ.; four grandsons, Jay (Becky) Fisher, Jerry Jr. (Julie) Fisher of South Elgin, IL., Jeremy and Justin Witt of AZ.; three great-granddaughters, Jordan, Brooke and Hayley of South Elgin, IL.; her brother, William Reinert of Yuma, AZ.; two sisters, Loretta Nichols of Elgin, IL. and Rose Beckmann of TN.
preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Rose Reinert of South Elgin.; and one son, Roger Witt.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday October 24, 2002 at 11:00 AM in the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Thursday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of ones choice.

Sigmund C. "Ziggy" Ziejewski P.E.
Sigmund C. Ziejewski P.E., 77, of Elgin passed away Sunday, October 20, 2002, at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born May 1, 1925 in Chicago, the son of Charles and Mary Janik Ziejewski. He lived in Chicago, Westchester, Springfield, and Palatine before moving to Elgin in 1968. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in civil engineering and his MBA from the University of Chicago. He was employed by the Illinois Dept. of Transportation for 38 years. He was Chief District Engineer of the Greater Chicago Metropolitan area for the Illinois Dept. of Transportation from 1966 to 1984. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Army in the First Division "Big Red One" at Normandy Beach on D-Day, and received the Bronze Star, the Bronze Arrowhead, the Combat Infantry Badge, a Purple Heart, and was honored by the French government in June of 2002 for his participation in D-Day.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Elgin. He was a commissioner with the City of Elgin Planning Commission for 17 years. He was a former director of the Ray Graham Assoc. for the Handicapped. He was: former director of Elgin State Bank, V.P. of McDonough Associates, member of the Disabled American Veterans, member of the American Public Works Assoc., voted as a top 10 works engineer for the USA and Canada in 1983, former president and director of the Illinois Association of Highway Engineers, former president of the American Public Works Association of the Chicago Metro Chapter, was named by the Little Flower Society as the distinguished engineer of the year in 1969, was a Registered Professional Engineer, and a member of AARP.
Surviving are his wife, Gene Wojtyszko Ziejewski, whom he married on August 6, 1949; two daughters: Jan (Chuck) Brescia of Golden, Colorado and Sandy (Steve) Oliver of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; a son, Kenneth (Dr. Sara Vegh) Ziejewski of Lake Bluff, IL; and four grandchildren: Jennifer, Scott, Kyle and Kacie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Theresa Kalamaga.
Funeral mass will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 175 E. Illinois Rd., Lake Forest, IL. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery, Lake Forest. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Memorials may be given to the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, Des Plaines, IL.

Mervyn D. "Yogi" Belmore
Mervyn D. "Yogi" Belmore, age 71, of Streamwood for the past 39 years, passed away on Tuesday October 22, 2002 at his home. He was born on March 1, 1931 in Marquette, Michigan.
He was married for 51 years to Cleo (Roberts) Belmore. After many years of service, Mervyn retired from Illinois Tool Works Shakeproof Division in Elgin and served in the US Marines.
Survivors include his wife, Cleo; his three sons, Richard of Hampshire, IL., Paul (Chris) of Hanover Park and John (Virginia) of Berkley; his four daughters, Christa (Dallas) Bragg of Elgin, Laura Paradowicz of Elgin, Kathy (Pete) Hussain of Liburn, GA., Sandra (Robert) Feltz of Streamwood, Patricia Clum of Elgin and Ann (Mike) Klunk of Belvidere; one brother, LeRoy Mich; three sisters, Karen Lemeiux, Rita Dezeote and Susan Zorza; 22 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mervyn was preceded in death by two children; his parents; and two brothers.
Memorial Visitation will be on Sunday October 27, 2002 at 12 Noon until the time of services at 2:00 PM at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 1640 Greenmeadows Blvd (at Barrington Rd.), Streamwood, IL. 60107.
Donations to the American Heart or Lung Association would be appreciated.

Isadore "Izzy" Colletti
Isadore "Izzy" Colletti, 83, of Elgin, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2002 in Elgin.
He was born January 7, 1919 in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Rosario and Maria Modica Colletti. He and his brother, Sam, were the founders of Elgin Car Wash in 1962. He had been a resident of Elgin since 1974. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy. He was an avid supporter of youth sports in the Elgin area and a longtime supporter of the local law enforcement agencies.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Elgin. He was a member of American Legion Post 57 of Elgin. He was a member of Elks Lodge 737 and loved to play golf in the Thursday Golf League and bowl with Elks bowling league. He was a Honorary member of the Boy Scouts.
Surviving are his wife, Lorraine Leufgen Colletti, whom he married on September 25, 1948; daughter, Judith A. Colletti of Elgin; son, Raymond Colletti of Chicago; three grandsons, Eric, Pat and Alfonzo Veneziano; four sisters, Mary Marino of Rolling Meadows, Pauline Martin of Chicago, Santa (Dan) Sroka of Chicago, Grace (Mike) Talento of Chicago; one brother, John (Cathy) Colletti of Niles; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jennie LaSpisa; two brothers, Sam Colletti and Fr. Andrew Colletti.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin for mass at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be private in Abraham Lincoln National cemetery, Elwood, IL. Visitation will be held Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Laird Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Vitas Hospice, Oakcrest Residence, Elgin or masses would be appreciated.

Luke Bradley Dyson

Luke Bradley Dyson, 33, of Janesville, Wisconsin, formerly of Hampshire, passed away October 21, 2002.
He was born July 22, 1969 in Boone, North Carolina the son of Ruth and Ralph J. Dyson, Sr.
He is survived by his mother, Lenore Ruth Dyson; three sisters, Julie (Dyson) Abu-Awad, Cynthia Dyson, and Deniel Dyson; a brother, Mark E. Dyson; two nephews, Matthew and David; and two nieces, Erica and Samantha.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph J. Dyson, Sr. and a brother, Ralph J. Dyson, Jr.
Private funeral services will be held on October 25. Burial will be in Hampshire Center cemetery. Memorials in his name may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Sycamore, 530 W. State St., Sycamore, IL 60178.
