Manolia Schult
Manolia Schult, 87, of Carol Stream, formerly of Elgin, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2001 in her home.
She was born August 28, 1913 in St. Louis, MO and was the daughter of William and Lucy B. (Kent) Burroughs.
Manolia was a Registered Nurse. She graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing and worked for over 60 years in her profession. She received her Baccalaureate Degree of Nursing when she was in her 60's. She worked as a nurse for McGraw-Edison for over 20 years, as Assistant Director of Nursing at Sherman Hospital, was a nurse for Jewel Tea Co., Director of Nursing at the Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, worked for the Illinois Department of Public Health, and was employed by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Hospitals for many years prior to her retirement at the age of 84. She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Elgin, member of the Order of Eastern Star, member of the Friends of Judson College, and member of St. Joseph Hospital Alumni.
She is survived by daughter-in-law, Dorothy Schult of Carol Stream; three grandchildren, Lori (Tony) Hefel of Kansas, Lisa (Mark) Murphy and Michael (Deanna) Schult, both of Carol Stream; and five grandchildren, Jennifer, Adam, Caitlin, T.J. and Sean.
In addtion to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence in 1978; three sisters; a brother; two sons, James D. Schult in 1980 and Fred in infancy; and great-granddaughter, Jessica Hefel.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 29 at 11:30 AM in the Immanuel Baptist Church, 500 St. Charles St., Elgin with Rev. John Stensrud officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 28, from 3-8 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and also on Monday at the church from 11 AM until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church.

Amanda C. Wagner
Amanda C. Wagner, 98, of Byron, formerly of Pingree Grove, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2001 at the Neighbors Nursing Home in Byron.
She was born February 11, 1902 in Galena, IL, the daughter of William and Louise (Muegge) Deininger. She was a former resident of the Pingree Grove and Hampshire area since 1923, retiring to Byron in 1994. Amanda married John A. Jowaski on June 6, 1923 and he passed away in 1949. Following his death, she married Theodore C. Wagner on July 8, 1950 and he passed away in 1980. Mrs. Wagner was a longtime member of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid Society of Pingree Grove, and an avid gardener.
Surviving are her daughters, Rosemary Hyle of Byron and Armella Seyller of Pingree Grove; daughter-in-law, Esther Jowaski of Cook, MN; stepdaughter, Alberta Westgor of Neenah, WI; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Willis Deininger of Galena; many step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Wagner was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; daughter, Anne Stark in 1994; son, John W. Jowaski in 1995; three sons-in-law; a stepson; a stepson-in-law; five sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, January 29 at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire with the Rev. Edward A. Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Washington-McQueen cemetery in rural Elgin. Visitation will be held from 3-6 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Neighbors Nursing Home in Byron or the Alzheimer's Foundation or the American Cancer Society.

Rosalyn Gaddis
Rosalyn Gaddis, 78, of Elgin passed away Thursday, January 16, 2003 in Heritage Manor, Elgin. She was born October 9, 1924, the daughter of James and Mardelle McBride.
She had been employed as a flight attendant and nurse by United Airlines for many, many years before retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a member of St. Mary's Women's Guild.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathleen (Rick) James of Longwood, FL, Mary Pat (Scott) Lay of Elgin, IL and Carolyn Utz of Elgin, IL, two step-sons, William Gaddis of Tulsa, OK and Robert (Barbara) Gaddis of Benton, AR, grandchildren, Patricia and Theresa James, Justin Utz and Callista Lay, step grandchildren, W.B. Gaddis and Robert Gaddis Jr. and a great grandchild, Haily Gaddis.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, William Gaddis and one sister, Kathleen Boyd.
Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2003 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elgin. Burial will be private in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee, IL. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Women's Guild. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.

Irwin O. "Irv" Kastilahn
Irwin O. "Irv" Kastilahn, 89, of Willow Lake Estates, Elgin died Friday, January 24, 2003 at the Rosewood Healthcare Center in Elgin. He was born on July 18, 1913 in Chicago. He was the son of Herman and Mary (nee Hupke) Kastilahn. He was a resident of Willow Lake Estates, Elgin for 16 years. He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church of Elgin. He was a World War II Army Veteran.
Irv is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris M. (nee Thompson) Kastilahn. They married on September 7, 1946. Two sons, Craig (Linda) Kastilahn of Libertyville and Glenn (Tina) Kastilahn of Algonquin, six grandchildren: Kyle, Ryan, Stacey, Lindsey, Taylor and Karli.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday at noon in the Messiah Lutheran Church, 500 Church Road in Elgin. The Rev. Patty Hewitt will officiate. Burial will be private. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. in the church prior to the services. Please omit flowers; memorials may be made to either the Messiah Lutheran Church or the charity of one's choice.

Mathilda Mickelson
Mathilda Mickelson, 96, of Elgin passed away Friday, January 24, 2003 at Sherman West Court.
She was born April 23, 1906 in Palatine, the daughter of William and Sophia Rhode Berlin.
Survivors include a brother, Emil of Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; brothers, William Berlin, Edward Berlin, John Berlin; and sisters, Caroline Berlin, Sophi Bruns, Ida Koch, Emma Berlin and Bertha Arens.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 1 PM in the Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St, Elgin with Rev. Paige Wolfanger officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 12 noon to 1 PM.

Zita C. Schuman
Zita C. Schuman, age 92, of Elgin, IL died Friday, January 24, 2003 at Apostolic Christian Resthaven in Elgin. She was born September 6, 1910 in Camden, TN to James Edgar and Maude (Frasier) Herrin. She was an Elgin resident for many years, working as a lab technician for Elgin National Watch Co. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Elgin.
She is survived by her three daughters, Betty (Fred) Lohmeier of Janesville, WI, Patricia Gerdau and Barbara (Richard) Johns, both of Elgin; her sister, Miriam Joy (Carl) Heilman of Portage, MI; grandchildren, Fred (Sandy), George, William and Robert Lohmeier, Richard (Valerie) Johns, Georgeann (Michael) Long and Patrick (Tracy) Gerdau, 16 great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George A., whom she married on April 14, 1929 and who preceded her on January 3, 1985, three brothers, James, Max, Edgar Herrin and a sister, Irene Bedwell, a granddaughter, Debrah Johns, and a son-in-law, Robert Gerdau.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday, January 28 at 10 a.m. at Wait Ross Allanson Funeral Chapel in Elgin with Rev. Roger Pollock of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park in Elgin. Visitation will take place on Monday, January 27 between 4-8 p.m. at the chapel. Please omit flowers with memorials in Zita's name to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Apostolic Christian Resthaven.

Robert Alden Smith
Robert Alden Smith, 81, of Lake Marian died Saturday, January 25, 2003 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He was born in Effingham, IL on October 2, 1921. He was the son of Raymond and Winifred (nee Mitchell) Smith. Robert was a 43 year resident of the Lake Marian-Carpentersville areas. He was a former employee of Sherwin Williams Co. and U.S. Can. He was very proud to have served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years: Ella L. (nee Bonacker). They married on July 10, 1947. Three loving children: Nancy (Andy) Borkowski of Spring Grove, Gary Smith of Lake Marian and Joyce Smith of Carpentersville. He was the proud and adoring grandfather of Lori Robertson, Kim Heany and Andy Borkowski, Jr.. Three sisters, Nadine Hickey, Verda Phelps and Betty O'Neill also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Vera.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Services and interment will be private.

Alice S. Underwager
Alice S. Underwager, age 71, of Elgin, IL died Saturday, January 25, 2003 at home in South Elgin. She was born August 7, 1931 in Elgin to Stephen and Ruth (nee Beckstrom) Pappas. Along with her husband, she had been the owner and operator of the Western Tap in Elgin.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine (Robert) Moorehead of Libertyville, two sons, Edwin (Kathryn) of St. Charles and Andrew (Melissa) of South Elgin, four grandchildren, Andrew, and Ellie Underwager of South Elgin and Molly and Robert Moorehead of St. Charles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles E. Underwager, whom she married in 1953 and who preceded her on January 20, 2000 and her sister, Irene Anderson in 1999.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 29 at 7:30 p.m. at Wait Ross Allanson Elgin Funeral Chapel, with Chaplain Judy Walter of the Visiting Nurses Association Hospice officiating. Burial will be private at Hampshire cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 29 from 5 p.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Alice's name may be made to either the American Diabetes Association or to the Visiting Nurses Association Hospice, 1245 Corporate Blvd. Aurora, IL 60504.

Richard E. Vogle
Richard E. Vogle, 68, of Elgin, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2003 in his home.
He was born February 19, 1934 in Elgin, the son of Earl and Lana (Volkening) Vogle. He was a 1952 graduate of Elgin High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a meat cutter for many years, primarily with Gorski's Supermarket in Bartlett.
Mr. Vogle was a longtime member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Elgin, the American Legion of Elgin and the Fox Valley Second Voice Club.
Surviving are his sons, David (Tammi) Vogle of Elgin, Frank (Dawn) Vogle of Huntley, granddaughter Alyx and step-granddaughters Shannon and Sadie, and his close companion Joanne Cork of Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elizabeth "June" Vogle in 1989, and sisters Marian and Betty in infancy.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 29, at the Frederick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire with the Rev. Harvey E. Feustel officiating. Burial will be in the Burlington Twp. Union cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 330 Griswold Ave, Elgin 60123.

Alvin L. Warrington
Alvin L. Warrington, 86, of Arlington Heights, died on January 25, 2003 at Holy Family Hospital in Des Plaines. Born December 15, 1916 in Hampshire, IL, he was the son of Walter and Mary (Roesslein) Warrington.
Alvin attended Reid School in rural Hampshire and Hampshire High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving six years during World War II in the North Atlantic, Tyrrhenian, and Mediterranean Seas, ending his career as a Chief Motor Machinist Mate. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 981, Arlington Heights. He was a retired employee of Material Service. His hobby was repairing old gas engines, and he was a member of the Northern Illinois Steam Power Association and the Stephenson County Antique Engine Club, attending annual steam shows where he exhibited his 1943 Willys Model MB Jeep that he purchased in Capua, Italy at the end of his military career.
Survivors include his wife, Mary (Burke) Warrington, of Arlington Heights, to whom he was married in April 1973; his former wife, Angela (Cassara) Warrington, Palos Hills, and their seven children, Mary Warren of New Lenox; Jack (Jeri) of Burbank; Rose Fonter of Omaha, NE; Alva (Dan) Kreutzer, Elk Grove Village; Alan (Diane) of West Chicago; Lillian Warrington, Palos Hills; Anna (Gerald) Slubowski, Palos Hills; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Dean and Gene, Hampshire, Lloyd (Georgia), Ft. Collins, CO, Roy (Donna), Surprise, AZ, and his sister, Marian (Harvey) Bohl, of Machesney Park. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Howard and Wayne, and a sister, Marion A., in infancy.
Visitation will be at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd at Northwest Hwy, Mt. Prospect on Tuesday from 3 p.m to 9 p.m. Services will be Wednesday 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National cemetery, Elwood, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Alvin Lester Warrington should be sent to the American Heart Association Midwest Affiliate Memorial and Tribute Program, Dept. 77-3968, Chicago, IL 60678-3968. Bonnie L. Ellen
Bonnie L. Ellen, age 59, of Minooka, IL, formerly of Carpentersville and Yorkville, IL, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2006, at the Joliet Area Community Hospice in Joliet, IL.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2006, at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Parkway, Yorkville, IL.

Virginia S. Koop
Virgina S. Koop, 90, of Madison, WI, formerly of Elgin, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2006 in Madison. She was born March 9, 1915 in Chicago the daughter of Leif and Valborg Rued Stabell. She had been a resident of Elgin for over 30 years and had lived in Madison for one year. She had been Post Master in St. Charles from 1961-1963 and had been employed as office manager at Masonite Corp., St. Charles for 10 years retiring in 1969.
She was a member of First Congregational Church, Elgin. She was a volunteer with many organizations including PADS, Meals on Wheels, Provena St. Joseph Hospital, the Soup Kitchen and Anderson Animal Shelter.
Surviving are five children, Valerie Evans of Gilbert, AZ, George (Pam) Koop of Geneva, IL, Tracy (Margaret) Koop of Madison, WI, Kandyce Koop of Bonita Springs, FL, John Koop of Algonquin, IL; nine grandchildren, Melissa (Marcelino) Koop-Gonzalez of Barcelona, Spain, Maryanne (David) Orme of Wheaton, IL, Barton (April) Koop of Fairlee, VT, Kelcey Young of Gilbert, AZ, Kristin (Michael) Gregory of Elgin, IL, George Koop of Raleigh, NC and Corey, Jennifer and Josh Koop of Sarasota, FL; seven great grandsons; and many nieces and nephews, especially Terese and her daughter, Nicole.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emil, who she married on March 26, 1938 in Chicago; one brother, Robert Stabell; and one sister, Cheryl Lally.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 28, 2006 at First Congregational Church Chapel, 256 E. Chicago St., Elgin with Rev. Paris Donehoo officiating. Burial will be private in Oak Hill cemetery, Geneva. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Congregational Church or the Anderson Animal Shelter. Elisa Millard
Elisa Millard, 73, of South Elgin passed away Sunday, January 22, 2006 at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. She was born September 21, 1932 in San Bernardino, CA, the daughter of Frank and Grace Amador Reyes. She had been a resident of South Elgin since 1977.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Elgin, and member of NAIM with the church.
Surviving are one son, Edwin (Judy) Millard of South Elgin; three grandchildren, Elisa Mary, Monica Grace and John Edwin Allen Millard, who were her pride and joy; seven brothers and sisters; and many family and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John A. Millard; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 28, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Elgin. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held Friday, January 27, 2006 from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and Saturday from 10:30 A.M. until the time of mass in the church. Memorials may be given to the family.
