Rose Chiappetta
Rose Chiappetta, 91, of Elgin, passed away February 9, 2004 in the Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born on October 14, 1912 in Calabria, Italy and was the daughter of Allesandro and Concetta (Apa) DeSimone. Rose was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, and will be dearly missed.
She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Elgin.
Survivors include two John Chiappetta of Elgin and Dr. Michael (Mary) Chiappetta of St. Charles, IL; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Carmella DeSimone of Italy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Michael in 1993; two brothers.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin with Rev. Andrew Hougan officiating. Entombment will follow in Mt. Hope cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be on Monday from 5-8:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin and on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be made to the church.

Joseph F. DeGregorio
Joseph F. DeGregorio, 85, of Algonquin died Thursday, February 12, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He was born in Rankin, PA on July 9, 1918 the son of Ralph and Sprenza (nee Galardo) DeGregorio. Mr. DeGregorio was a six year resident of Algonquin and a former 79 year resident of Farrell, PA. He worked at Sharon Steel Corporation for a majority of his life after serving in the United States Army 1st Armored Division for four and a half years during World War II.
He was a life member and Past Commander of VFW Post 5286 in Farrell, PA. Mr. DeGregorio was an avid bowler and bowled in may senior leagues. He was proud of his high game of 289 which he bowled on his 84th birthday.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gladys M. (nee Danoff) DeGregorio. They married on August 18, 1947. Their children, Ronald of Fargo, ND, Gary (Susan) of Sleepy Hollow, IL and Joyce (William R.) Gronde of Indianapolis, IN; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Esposito of Farrell, PA and Rosaria (Thomas) Rinkoski of Gainesville, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Anthony DeGenaro and his sister, Antoinette Rossi.
Family and friends will meet for funeral mass on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee. The Rev. Richard A. Rosinski, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation will be on Monday from 6-9 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of mass in the church.

Grace F. Goehl
Grace F. Goehl. 74, of Williams Bay, WI, formerly of Huntley, passed away Friday, February 13, 2004 at Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, WI.
She was born September 7, 1929 in Palatine the daughter of Frank and Minnie (Lueck) Harting. Grace married John R. "Jack" Goehl on July 16, 1949 in Hampshire and they resided in Huntley all of their married life. She was a waitress for over 25 years at the former Evergreen's Restaurant in Dundee and at Simonini's Restaurant in Algonquin. Grace retired in 1980 from Floyd's Restaurant in Dundee. She loved to crochet afghans and baby blankets. She also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her six children, Stephen (Carol) Goehl of Geneva, Charles (Kim) Goehl of Elmhurst, Cynthia (Ronald) Jeffrey of Rockford, Lori (David) Hughes of Burlington, WI, Cathy (Gregg) Shamhart of Huntley, and James (Barbara) Goehl of Williams Bay, WI; 15 grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Mildred Harting of Huntley, Letty Harting of Woodstock, JoAnn (David) Walker of Hampshire, and Pauline Goehl of Quincy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack who passed away October 13, 2000; granddaughter Lisa Goehl, and four brothers and one sister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Rd. (enter off Kreutzer Rd.) in Huntley with Father Robert M. Garrity officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Church cemetery in Huntley.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St., Huntley and at the Church on Tuesday prior to Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntley or masses in her name. Information 847-669-5111.

Steven A. Chrusciel
Steven A. Chrusciel, age 51 of Elgin, died Saturday February 11, 2005 in his home.
He was born in Chicago, IL, April 14, 1953, the son of Charles and Evelyn Chrusciel. He was the manager of the Chrusciel Boarding House in Libertyville, IL.
He is survived by two aunts, Lottie Chrusciel, of Elgin, IL and Bobby Chrusciel of Libertyville, IL, and a cousin Sandy Wainio Goforth of Lake In The Hills.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be Thursday February 17, 2005 at 10:00 am at the Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, 201 S. Main St., Algonquin, IL. Rev. Richard Feyen, pastor of the Congregational Church of Algonquin, IL officiating.
Burial will be in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee, IL.
Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 am until time of the service.

Mary Ellen Kunz
Mary Ellen Kunz, 81 of South Elgin passed away Sunday, February 13, 2005 in her home.
She was born February 8, 1924 in Urbana, Illinois, the daughter of Harry and Clara Akins Bagley. She had been a resident of South Elgin since 1996. She had been employed at St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island as a ward secretary before retiring.
She loved to spend time with her family.
Surviving are one son, Irving "Korkie" (Rita) Kunz, Jr. of Greenwood, IN; one daughter, Daryl (Dwain) Van Eck of South Elgin; six grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Irving Kunz, Sr. in 2003; and two sisters, Inez Osweiler and Billie Cole.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 16 at 2:30 P.M. at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will be in Washington Memorial Reformed Presbyterian Church cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of services. Memorials may be given to Westminster Christian School, Elgin or the Fox Valley Hospice, Geneva.

June V. Lowery
June V. Lowery, age 84 of Elgin, died Sunday, February 13, 2005 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born in Missouri, June 9, 1920, the daughter of Peter and Anna Meyer.
She married Robert Lowery on June 6, 1957. He survives.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She served in the Women's Army Air Corps in WWII and was a member of the American Legion in Berwyn, IL.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 17, 2005 at Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin. Rev. Hannibal Frederich will officiate. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be from 3-9 PM Wednesday at the funeral home chapel. (847)742-2100.

Elizabeth Marquette "Betty"
Elizabeth (Betty) Marquette, 74 of Elgin, died Monday, February 14, 2005 at Governor's Park Center, Barrington.
Betty was born in Chicago, January 11, 1931, and she was preceded in death by her loving husband Richard of 55 years; her mother Florence, one brother, Charles Nicolai; one sister, Lois (Nicolai) Strzelecki.
Betty is survived by her 5 children, Mark, Michelle Klinger, Maureen Benavides, Mitchell, and Martin; 5 grandchildren, Victoria, Marriell, Maianna, Sonja, and Shane; one great-grandchild, Alex.
Betty was loved very much by her family and friends, and will be missed by all. She was a proud Breast Cancer Survivor.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 17th from 3 until 8 p.m. at the O'Connor - Leetz Funeral Home, Elgin. The funeral will be Friday, at 10:00 A.M., also at the funeral home with Fr. Geoffrey Wirth officiating. Memorials may be made in Betty's memory to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Marion Barwick Nowicki Huntley
Marion E. "Tootie" Barwick Nowicki, 71, of Huntley, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2005 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
She was born November 29, 1933 in Huntley, the daughter of Alfred and Elsie (Kahl) Jordi. She was a 1951 graduate of Huntley High School and in 1953 she married Harold Barwick in Huntley. He passed away in 1974. Marion later married Alexander Nowicki on June 7, 1980 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Elgin.
Marion had worked at Lee Wards in Elgin for many years. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Huntley, a member and past president of American Legion Post #57 Auxiliary and a member of the Huntley Senior Citizens.
Surviving are her husband Alex; son, Kim (Suzi) Barwick of Hoffman Estates; granddaughter, Brandy Barwick of Schaumburg, Jamie Barwick of Aurora; step-grandson, Adam Holan of Hoffman Estates; great-granddaughter, Brianna Barwick; former daughter-in-law, Gail (Les) Brage of Hampshire; brothers, Alfred (Alice) Jordi of Huntley, LaVern (Katherine) Jordi of Michigan, Douglas (Rebecca) Jordi of Florida; sisters, Mildred Hill of Wisconsin, Carol Knaak (Bob Sprague) of Belvidere, Janet (Richard) Clark of New Hampshire; a special aunt, Ruth (the late Fred) Kahl of Huntley, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Harold; sister, Dolores Repaskey; brother, Donald Jordi; and a step-grandson, Jason Holan.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, Feb. 17, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 11008 N. Church St., Huntley with the Rev. Charles W. Kittel officiating. Burial will be in the Huntley cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at the James A. O'Connor Funeral Home, 11603 E. Main St., Huntley and at the Church on Thursday prior to services from 1 to 2 PM.

Arvilla B. Peterson
Arvilla B. Peterson, 103, and a lifelong resident of Hampshire, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2005 at Tower Hill Nursing Center in South Elgin.
She was born December 21, 1901 in Hampshire, the daughter of Charles and Augusta (Melms) Awe. She was a 1920 graduate of Hampshire High School and attended the former Ellis Business College in Elgin. Arvilla married Victor L. Peterson in Hampshire on November 17, 1926.
Mrs. Peterson worked at Leich Electric in Genoa during World War II, the J.B. Inderrieden Canning Co. in Hampshire, and retired from Playskool Mfg. in Hampshire.
Arvilla was a lifelong member of the Zion United Methodist Church and a longtime member of the Zion United Methodist Women.
Surviving are her daughter, Leola (David) Widmayer and son, Robert (Mary Ann) Peterson, both of Hampshire; three grandsons, Warren (Allison) Widmayer and Alan (Melissa) Widmayer, both of Hampshire, Dale (Cindy) Peterson of Algonquin; three great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Haley and Matthew; and two step-great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Nicole.
Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor, on December 5, 1986; grandson, Scott Peterson; and two brothers, Erwin and Milton Awe.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the Fredrick Funeral Home, 284 Park St., Hampshire, with the Rev. Steve Ziegler, pastor of Zion United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Hampshire Center cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Myrtle M. Pruban
The family and friends of Myrtle M. Pruban, 74, of Mount Prospect (formerly of Carpentersville and Norwood Park) will celebrate her life on Tuesday, February 15 from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the M.J. Suerth Funeral Home at 6754 Northwest Hwy., Chicago. Prayers will be held Wednesday, February 16 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, and a mass will be held at St. Thecla Church at 10:00 a.m. at 6725 W. Devon Ave., Chicago.
Myrtle came to this world on July 10, 1930 and left us peacefully on Sunday, February 13, 2005. She was a woman of extreme strength and pride. Her legacy is seen everyday in her children who continually demonstrate her power and values.
People who were touched by Myrtle's wonderful life know that her greatest love were her husband Raymond of 56 years; four children including Toni (Ed) Thommes of Park Ridge, Sharon (Craig) Russo of Mauston, WI, Raymond, Jr. (Lolli) Pruban of Whitebear Lake, MN and John (Christine) Pruban of Arlington Heights; 11 grandchildren including Laura (Jon), Christine (Jeffrey), Matthew, David, Dana (Anthony), Carla, Jason (Valerie), Clint (Erika), Rana, Jessica and Jack; three great-grandchildren including Alex, Jacob and Kennedy; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
She is preceded in life by her brother Jimmy (James II), mother Lillian and father James.
Myrtle lived for holidays and celebrations of any kind. She was the first one to arrive and the last one to leave a party. We will continue to share with others her recipes for her Christmas cookies, stuffed cabbage, spaghetti sauce and lasagna. And the "White Elephant Exchange" will go on for years to come.
She enjoyed Superdawg, Booby's, bridge, square dancing, cooking, bingo and bowling. She was a lover of football, and a Cubs fan to the end.
Myrtle will continue to live through the gifts and memories she gave each one of us. She will be greatly missed.

Nicholas Thomas "Nick" Swanson
Nicholas Thomas "Nick" Swanson, 20, of Elgin passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 at Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. He was born December 7, 1984 in Hoffman Estates. the son of Jon Thomas Swanson and Deborah Ann Aasen. He had been a resident of Elgin since 2000 and was a graduate of Larkin High School. He was employed by E-Z Landscaping in Schaumburg.
Surviving are his parents of Elgin; two brothers, Brad Swanson of Schaumburg and Eric Swanson of Elgin; maternal grandparents, Carl and Pat Aasen; paternal grandmother, Marilyn Swanson; aunts and uncles, Carl Aasen, Tammy (Vince) Schubbe, Sandy (Dale) Coughran, Robert (Susie) Aasen, Jenny (Jeff) Jackson, Jim (Denise) Swanson, Tom (JoAnn) Swanson, Kim (Mike) Wioch; cousins, Amber, Amanda and Andrew Aasen, Vince, Stephanie and Tim Schubbe, Becky and Jake Coughran, Taylor Aasen, D.J., Jessica, Jeffrey and Ashley Jackson, Scott, Neil and Avery Swanson, Jason, Michelle and Mariah Wioch; and many loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Thomas Swanson and uncle, Micheal Aasen.

Myrtle L. Kaput
Myrtle L. Kaput, 80 of Carpentersville died Tuesday morning February 14, 2006 at Governor's Park Barrington. She was born on May 14, 1925 in Chicago the daughter of Floyd and Bonita (nee Spangler) Bryant.
She was a member of VFW Flag Ship #1100 in Chicago. Myrtle worked for many years at Simson Electric and also did volunteer work for St. Monica Church in Carpentersville.
She is survived by three daughters, Barb (Ed) Wilmes of West Chicago, Janet Hazelwood of Carpentersville and Eileen (Richard) LeFevre of Wauconda; and one son, Anthony of Lake In The Hills; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Bryant of Washington State; two step-brothers, Bob Smith of Florida and Floyd Bryant of Florida.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John J. Kaput who died on December 4, 1995 whom she married November 7, 1942; two sisters, Sandy Frankowski and Bonnie Sickler; and one brother, Floyd Bryant.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 17, 2006 at the Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee, IL 60118. Pastor Ronn Read officiating. Interment will follow in Dundee Township East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 16, 2006 from 3-8 PM. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
