Bruce E. Barker
Bruce E. Barker, 51, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2004 in his home after a long illness, surrounded by his family. He was born April 25, 1952 in Huntington, New York and was the son of Harold and Lillie (Ozlo) Barker. Bruce had spent most of his youth in Prospect Park, PA and moved to Illinois in the late 1970's. He was last employed by Pegasystems in Cambridge, MA as a Computer Software Director of Sales.
He was a member of Christ Community Church and the Chicago Corvette Club.
Survivors include his wife, Diane, whom he married on December 4, 1981; two children, Bryant and Deana at home; one brother, Richard (Dorothy) Barker of Pekin, IL; one sister, Susan (Doug) Grimm of Denver, PA; and many nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Christ Community Church, 37W100 Bolcum Rd., St. Charles, IL 60175. Burial will be private in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 3-9:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, and on Friday in the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services.

Bernice Chamberlain
Bernice Chamberlain, 92, of Elgin, passed away January 4, 2004 in the Apostolic Christian Resthaven. She was born October 8, 1912 in Plato Center, IL and was the daughter of William and Bertha (Engelbrecht) Waterman.
Bernice was a lifelong resident of Elgin, and retired from the Elgin National Watch Factory. She also worked at York Spring Co.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Elgin.
Survivors include her stepdaughter, Lois (Gene) Westerman of South Elgin, IL; seven step-grandchildren, Candace (Bruce) Minus, Craig (Mary) Chamberlain, Shelley Grafmyer, Diane Biehl, Steve (Cindy) Westerman, Doug (Dawn) Westerman and Kathy (Keith) Collins; thirteen step-great-grandchildren; nieces, Carol Lawyer of Dundee, IL, Karen (Tim) Freund of Chillicothe, IL, and Karla (Alan) Van Dyke of Oregon, IL; her step-daughter-in-law, Jo Chamberlain.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Raymond Scheilble; her second husband, Eddie Chamberlain; her brother, Wilbur Waterman; three sisters, Helen Eches, Selma Watermann, and Dorothy Schult; one niece, Sandra Rojalski; one stepson, Donald Chamberlain.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8:00 p.m. in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Private burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin, with Rev. Thomas O'Connor officiating.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Elgin.

Herbert B. Fellows
Herbert B. Fellows, 76, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, January 6,2004 in his home.
He was born August 14, 1927 in Elgin, the son of Virgil and Amy Fisk Fellows.
He had been a resident of Elgin for most of his life. He was a graduate of Elgin High School in 1945. He was employed as a union plumber before retiring. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Elgin, a lifetime member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 501, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 799 of Elgin, the Owls Club, the American Legion Post 57 of Elgin, the VFW Post 1307 of Elgin and the Masons Lodge 117 AF & AM of Elgin.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Davis Fellows whom he married on December 9, 1944; four children, Patrick (Patricia Lewis) Fellows of Elgin, Sandra (James) Greve of Huntley, Cary (Shari Marsh) Fellows of Spring Grove and Mary (Jeffrey) Childers of Hampshire; 14 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Peabody of Elgin and Carol (Roger) Shear of Yuma, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Fellows; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Fellows; a sister, Audrey Ewert; and two brothers, Edwin Johnson and Eugene Fellows.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 10 at 10 AM at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Mike Frantz officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Lakewood Memorial Park, Elgin.
Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 8 PM in the funeral home.

Jerry C. Hansen
Jerry C. Hansen, 68, of Marengo passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2004 in his home surrounded by his daughters.
He was born March 9, 1935 in Elgin, Illinois, the son of Harold and Mabel Hintt Hansen.
He had been a resident of Marengo for over 30 years. He was a self employed General Contractor before retiring.
Surviving are four daughters, Theresa (Earl "Smoke") Maynard of Kirkland, Rebecca (Louis) Ferrante of Kirkland, Julie (Jack) Curry of Marengo and Joanna Hansen of Woodstock; six grandchildren, Jerry, Kelli, Randi, Ashley, Aleena and Taylor; two sisters, Arlene (Robert) Diekman of Indiana and Carol (George) Hipple of Elgin; and two brothers, Harold (Vicki) Hansen of Hampshire and James (Maxine) Hansen of South Elgin.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1972; a brother, Robert Hansen; and granddaughter, Jessica.
Funeral Services Friday, January 9, 2004 at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin with Rev. Thomas O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City cemetery, Elgin.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.

Linda Warner Kagel
Linda Warner Kagel, 55, of Algonquin died Monday, January 5, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born on August 18, 1948 in Elgin. She was the daughter of Claude and Pearl (nee Kennedy) Warner. Linda was a many year devoted employee of Wauconda Tool & Engineering. She enjoyed reading, playing golf, and gardening.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Dale Kagel, whom she married on September 18, 1971 in West Dundee; her sisters, Judith (Charles) Zange of Algonquin and Anna (Robert) Woertendyke of Lake In The Hills; her brothers, John Warner of Carpentersville, William (Corine) Warner of Algonquin, James (Darlene) Warner of Lake In The Hills, Paul (Deborah) Warner of Carpentersville, and Edward Warner of Crystal Lake; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be on Friday, January 9, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will be private. Visitation Thursday, January 8, 2004 from 4-8 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Paul C. Mockler
Paul C. Mockler, 84, of Sleepy Hollow passed away Saturday at Provena St. Joseph Hospital. He was born on March 19, 1919 in Blackberry Township. He is the son of Carl and Lucy (Walker) Mockler.
He has been a resident of the Elgin and Dundee area. He graduated from Dundee High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps on January 9, 1942 and served as a crew chief on a B-29 with the 73rd Bomb Wing, serving on Saipan Island. He was also a high altitude instructor and was the 73rd boxing champion in the light heavyweight division. He was honorably discharged in October of 1945.
Paul owned and operated Mockler Ins. Agency in Elgin for many years, receiving his C.L.U. designation from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He earned a certificate from the Life Underwriter Training Council and the National Association of Life Underwriters from DePaul University and North Western Illinois University. He was a member and past president of Elgin Life Underwriters and Independent Insurance Agents and served as Regional Vice President.
Paul was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Elgin, serving on numerous church committees including Boy Scout Troop 100. He was a member and Past President of the Elgin Lions Club, receiving a Fellowship from the Lions of Illinois Foundation for dedication and assistance in helping others for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Elgin Elks Lodge 737 and Masonic Lodge 522 for over fifty years. He was also an active member of the American Legion Post 57 in Elgin, serving on the Honor-Color Guard for many years. Paul enjoyed and was active in many sports, was a nature lover and was lead archer in the Elgin Bowmen and Archery Club.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and was always ready to help others.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ida; his son, Paul J. (Shirley) Mockler of Carpentersville; two daughters, Janine (Richard) Tanner of Sleepy Hollow and Belinda Mockler of Elgin; two grandsons, Michael and Mark Tanner; two step granddaughters, Daun Sino and Jenny Jasinski both of Wisconsin; a step great granddaughter, Emily Rose; a very special sister-in-law, Lea Haseman of Phoenix, Arizona; two brothers-in-law, George Ehorn of Elgin and Italo Bove of Lisle, IL; many nieces and nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Dorothy, Lucille, Alice, and Loretta; a half-brother, Raymond, who died in childhood; and a daughter, Deborah, who died in infancy.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Elgin. Burial will be at Bluff City cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 until 8 PM with a Masonic Service at 7 PM at Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park St., Elgin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lions of Illinois Foundation, or the American Parkinson Disease Association Midwest Chapter.

Donald G. Robinson, age 65, died suddenly, Monday, January 5, 2004. Formerly of Elgin.
Loving father of six and grandfather of thirteen.

Helen P. Besler
Helen P. Besler, 75, of Elgin passed away December 27, 2004 at Sherman Hospital. She was born December 2, 1929 in Chicago to the late Walter and Jean Dobrzeniecki. On September 5, 1953 she married Edward R. Besler in Chicago.
She was employed for 21 years as a supervisor at Oaks Manufacturing. Also a member of Oak Manufacturing Retirement Club.
Survivors include her husband, Edward R. Besler of Elgin, IL; her daughter, Cathleen (Edmund) Warchal of Island Lake, IL; sons, Thomas (Cindy) Besler of Wonder Lake, IL, David (Anne) Besler of Bloomington, IL, Daniel (Donna) Besler of Woodstock, IL, Richard (Judy) Besler of Wonder Lake; grandchildren, Abby and Michael Warchal, Margaret, Patrick, Colleen, Kalley, Molly, Carly and Emily Besler; sister, Phyllis (late John) Filipiak of Arizona; brother, Eugene (Lillian) Dobrzeniecki of Calumet City, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation Saturday, January 8, 2005 from 10-11 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, (Rt. 31 & Rt. 72) West Dundee, IL. Memorial service 11 a.m. January 8, 2005 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a favorite charity of donor's choice.

Marion L. Blank
Marion L. Blank, 81, of East Dundee died Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. She was born in East Dundee on December 7, 1922, the daughter of Charles and Minnie (nee Kroplin) Holtz. Marion was a life long resident of Dundee. She was a life long member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Altar Guild and the Senior Bible Class. Marion was a member of the Sherman Hospital Ladies Auxiliary for 21 years. She was a former employee of School Dist. #300 where she worked as a cook at Dundee High School. Following retirement from Dundee High School, Marion worked as a salesperson at Murphy's Ladies Clothing Store in West Dundee. She was a member of the Dundee Twp. Senior Citizens Organization, the 50+ Club and was an avid bowler and bowled in many area leagues for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years Donald C. Blank. They married on September 25, 1948. Their children: Douglas (Kathy) Blank of Ohio and Cathy (Steve) Bergholt of Hampshire. Her granddaughter: Jennifer (David) Hecht of Seattle, WA, her grandsons: Scott Blank of Seattle, WA and Matthew Bergholt of Hampshire. Many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Charles, Otto, Carl, Henry, Walter and William Holtz, her sisters; Martha Bentley, Henrietta Hanson and Hilda Holtz.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2004 at 11 a.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. The Rev. Scott Seidler, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-8 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Please omit flowers. Memorials may be made to either the Immanuel Lutheran Church LEGACY FUND or the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois.

Margaret C. Clute
Margaret C. Clute, 77, of Elgin passed away Sunday, January 4, 2004 in Oak Crest Residence in Elgin.
She was born March 4, 1926 in Elgin, the daughter of Herbert and Marie Damisch.
Resident of Elgin all her life. She was a Registered Nurse and had been employed by Provena St. Joseph Hospital for 17 years before retiring. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and a Charter Member of JG Chapter of P.E.O. of Elgin.
Surviving are a daughter, Candace (Jerry) Nering of Punta Gorda, Florida; two sons, David (Christine) Clute of Bailey, Colorado and Richard Clute of Elgin; and two grandsons, Daniel and Patrick Clute.
preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald in 1999; and a brother, William Damisch.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 10 at 1 PM in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin with Rev. Joseph Snider officiating. Private burial will be in Washington Reformed Presbyterian cemetery on Highland Ave. Rd. in Elgin.
Visitation will be at the time of Memorial Service only.
The omission of flowers is requested and memorials may be given to Oak Crest Residence, 204 S. State St., Elgin, IL, 60123.
