Dorothy Richardson,
37-year state employee

Dorothy M. Richardson, 88, of Kankakee, formerly of Springfield, died today (June 28, 2002) at Miller Center.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. celebration of the funeral Mass at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Springfield, where she was a member. Rev. Patrick Wright will officiate.
Burial will be in Calvary cemetery, Springfield.
Memorials may be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church, Springfield or to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
Arrangements are by the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Mrs. Richardson worked for 37 years for the state of Illinois as a secretary for the Department of Public Health and Insurance retiring in 1976. She also worked in Adlai Stevenson's office when he was governor.
She was born April 9, 1914, in Chicago, the daughter of Matt and Mazie Tolan Corrigan. Her parents are deceased.
Her husband, Lewis R. Richardson, whom she married Dec. 27, 1943, died Dec. 10, 1995.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Lou and Bud Bates of Kankakee, Diane and Steve Cooper of Springfield; one sister, Mrs. Terry Hall of Ft. Smith, Ark.; four grandchildren, Terry Bates of Chicago, Keli and Dimitri Fayard of Chicago, Brian and Jessa Cooper and Melissa Cooper, all of Springfield; and two great-granddaughters, Maya and Grace Fayard of Chicago.
Two sisters, Deloris Hiatt and Rose Gerrity; and one brother, Dan Corrigan, are deceased.
She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and a member of its alumnae.
Mrs. Richardson was a member of the St. Agnes Altar and Rosary Society and the Sanctuary Club.

Dorothy Strode

DANFORTH -- Visitation for Dorothy Mae Strode, 88, of Danforth, will be from 12:30 p.m. Saturday until the 3 p.m. services at the Redenius Funeral Home, Gilman. Rev. Neil Larimore will officiate.
Burial will be in the Gilman cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
She died Wednesday (June 26, 2002) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka.
Mrs. Strode had worked at the Central Dress Factory in Gilman.
She was born June 9, 1914, in Chatsworth, the daughter of Sylvester and Ethel Knuckles Birch.
Surviving are her husband, Fratie K. Strode, whom she married April 15, 1932, in Paxton; one son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Ada Strode of Las Vegas, Nev.; three daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnne and Dean Dirks of Ashkum, Marlene and Richard Bailey of Sadorus, Linda and Charles Miller of Danforth; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Strode of North Aurora; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harvey Birch and Russell Birch, both of Fort Wayne, Ind., Kenneth Birch of Decatur, Ind.; and one sister, Inez Fennig of Monroe, Ind.
One son, Donald; one brother; and two sisters, are deceased.
She was educated in Forrest schools.
Mrs. Strode enjoyed crocheting and reading.

Evelyn Schroeder
25-year employee of dress factory

GILMAN -- Evelyn Elaine Schroeder, 80, of Watseka, a former 52-year resident of Gilman, died Thursday (June 27, 2002) at Watseka Health Care Center.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, with an 8 p.m. rosary service at the Redenius Funeral Home, Gilman.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Church, Gilman, where she was a member. Rev. John Balluff will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Gilman.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mrs. Schroeder was employed at the Gilman Dress Factory for 25 years, retiring in 1989.
She was born Aug. 23, 1921, in Crescent City, the daughter of Dirk and Sena W. Gocken Taden.
Her husband, Eddie C. Schroeder, whom she married Aug. 23, 1941, in Crescent City, died April 10, 1993.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Jeanne Schroeder of Watseka, Ron and Donna Schroeder of Little Falls, Minn.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Weldon Taden of Bourbonnais.
Two grandsons, Vance and Chris, are deceased.
She attended school in Crescent City and was a graduate of Watseka High School.
Mrs. Schroeder enjoyed bowling and reading.

Derrilda Denault

HERSCHER -- A funeral Mass for Derrilda Denault, 95, of Herscher, was celebrated June 27 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Herscher. Revs. Ronald Hart and John Zanoni officiated.
Mrs. Denault died June 22, 2002.
Burial was in Mt. Hope cemetery, Goodrich. Pallbearers were Lavern Morrical, Don Legris, Chris Denault, Michael Saindon, James Fitzgerald and Francis Denault.

Luther Ritter
retired farmer

MOMENCE -- Luther Ritter, 85, of Momence, died Thursday (June 27, 2002).
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday in Union Corners cemetery, Grant Park.
Arrangements are by the Momence Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Ritter was a retired farmer.
He was born May 29, 1917, in Grant Park, the son of August and Irene Denny Ritter.
Surviving are one niece, Carol Herndon of DeMotte, Ind.; and one nephew, Larry Graves of Crown Point, Ind.

Rev. Virgil Smith

A memorial service for Rev. Virgil W. Smith, 87, of Kankakee, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, Kankakee.
Rev. Smith died May 24, 2002.

Ronald Martin
owned collection agency

CRETE -- Ronald J. Martin, 65, of Crete, died Tuesday (March 25, 2002) at St. Margaret Mercy Hospital, Dyer, Ind.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. today at the Crete Funeral Home.
Burial was private.
He was born Sept. 11, 1936, in Puyallup, Wash.
Mr. Martin was the owner/operator of Martin and Associates Collection Agency.
Surviving are his wife, Karen Martin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Charlie Meurisse of Frankfort, Laura and Ron Rader of Plainfield; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Maria Martin of HomerGlen; and five grandchildren.

Ruby Cleary

DWIGHT -- Ruby Cleary, 88, of Pontiac, formerly of Dwight, died Thursday (June 27, 2002) at OSF St. James Hospital, Pontiac.
Arrangements are pending at Hager Memorial Home, Dwight.

Wilbert Harrison

ST. ANNE -- Wilbert Harrison, 82, of St. Anne, died today (June 28, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee.
Arrangements are pending at the Leggett Funeral Home, Hopkins Park.

Willis Hodo

Willis Hodo, 60, of Kankakee, died Thursday (June 27, 2002) at his home after a long illness.
Arrangements are pending at the Jones Funeral Home, Kankakee.

David Pretty,
43-year employee at Kroehler's

Visitation for David B. Pretty, 81, of Kankakee, will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where he was a member.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
Mr. Pretty died Monday (May 27, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital.
He retired from Kroehler Manufacturing after 43 years of service.
He was born July 11, 1920, in Kankakee, the son of Robert and Mary Dluzak Pretty.
Surviving are his wife, the former Loretta R. Tyralski, whom he married Nov. 28, 1946, at St. Stanislaus Church of Kankakee; one daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Marshall Nepras of Burlington, Wis.; and two granddaughters, Jamie and Mark Pilman of Kenosha, Wis., Betty and Matthew Diefenbach of Piper City; and three great-grandchildren.
One son, William; and one brother, Zigmund, are deceased.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II.
He was a member of the Holy Name Society, the Kankakee VFW and the Moose Lodge (the legion of the Moose).
He enjoyed watching sports and crossword puzzles.
