Rosalie Miller

WATSEKA -- A funeral Mass for Rosalie M. Miller, 80, of Watseka, was celebrated March 25 at St. Edmund's Catholic Church, Watseka. Rev. Lee Ryan officiated.
Mrs. Miller died March 22, 2002.
Burial was in GAR cemetery, Watseka. Pallbearers were Gary Miller, Richard Franklin, Justin and Peter Shide, Thomas Siegel and Joshua Sparling. Honorary pallbearer was Eric Shide.

Orville Papineau

PEOTONE -- Services for Orville Arthur Papineau, 81, of Peotone, were held March 27 at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Rev. Bruce Salter officiated.
Mr. Papineau died March 23, 2002.
Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Ryan Brault, Boyd Hebert, Michael Papineau, Noel Martell, Mike Virlee and Scott Schafer.

Betty Elliot

CHEBANSE -- Services for Betty L. Elliot, 79, of Chebanse, were held March 27 at the United Church of Chebanse. Rev. Dennis Brayman officiated.
Mrs. Elliot died March 24, 2002.
Burial was in Evergreen cemetery, Chebanse. Pallbearers were Randy and Larry Elliot, Randy and Mark Dandurand and Bruce and Rolland Bossert.

Rose Breymeyer

MILFORD -- Services for Rose E. Breymeyer, 94, of Milford, were held March 27 at the Knapp Funeral Home, Milford. Rev. Neil Larimore officiated.
Mrs. Breymeyer died March 24, 2002.
Burial was in Maple Grove cemetery, Milford. Pallbearers were Dennis Hurley, Robert Musch, John Dague, James Thompson, Christopher Breymeyer and Christer Bursch.

Anna Mednus

A funeral Mass for Anna M. Mednus, 88, of Bradley, was celebrated March 27 at Maternity BVM Catholic Church, Bourbonnais. Rev. John Peeters officiated.
Mrs. Mednus died March 17, 2002.
Inurnment was in St. Mary's cemetery, Evergreen Park.

Elmer Rabe

CRESCENT CITY -- Elmer Rabe, 83, of Crescent City, died Thursday (March 28, 2002) at Carle Hospital, Champaign.
Visitation will be private.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sheldon cemetery. Rev. Joseph Hughes will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born March 11, 1919, in Crescent City, the son of Theodore and Lena Schroeder Rabe.
His first wife, the former Geraldine Theilbar, whom he married Dec. 31, 1940, in Elgin, died June 20, 1969.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth Johnston; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Kim Rabe of North Carolina, Donnie and Kim Rabe of Crescent City; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Marion Parker of Hoopeston; two sisters, Claire Wacker of Danforth, M. Esther Rabe of Crescent City; three stepsons, Wayne and Margaret Johnston of Kankakee, Olin and Helen Johnston of California, David and Shannon Johnston of Idaho; one stepdaughter, Norma and Ernest Curtis of Gilman; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
One son, David; and one grandson, Eric, are deceased.
Mr. Rabe had worked at UARCO.

Carroll Eastman

St. ANNE -- Services for Carroll "Fuzz" Eastman, 70, of St. Anne, were held March 28 at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
Mr. Eastman died March 25, 2002.
Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Danny Brown, Dale Kime, Kirk and Kenny Stang, Tim and Joel Gates, Chris and Mike Kime and Pat Boudreau.

Guy Collings

ST. ANNE -- Guy H. Collings, 27, of St. Anne, died Wednesday (March 27, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, with an 8 p.m. wake service at the Clancy-Gernon-Houk Funeral Home, St. Anne.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Beaverville.
Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Beaverville.
Memorials may be made to the Restoration of St. Mary's Church.
He was born June 16, 1974, in Kankakee, the son of Guy H. and Cathy Brown Collings.
Surviving besides his parents of Martinton are two sisters and one brother-in-law, Christine Collings of San Antonio, Texas, Tammie and Mike Meiers of St. Anne; grandmothers, Vivian Blanchette and Jean Collings, both of St. Anne; and special friend, Angie Huffman.
Two grandfathers are deceased.
Mr. Collings was employed at Star Manufacturing in Chicago Heights.
He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church.
He enjoyed fishing and taking care of animals.

Howard Strassenburg
farmer, Realtor

PEOTONE -- Visitation for Howard L. Strassenburg, 82, of Peotone, formerly of Momence, will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Cotter Funeral Home, Momence.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, Momence. Rev. James Ruberg will officiate.
Burial will be in Momence cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Momence Community Scholarship Fund.
Mr. Strassenburg died Wednesday (March 27, 2002) at Manor Care Nursing Center in Kankakee.
Mr. Strassenburg, a lifelong farmer, operated a farm in Momence for 45 years. He was also a real estate salesman and broker.
He was born Feb. 20, 1920, in Tinley Park, the son of Albert and Bertha Schmidt Strassenburg.
His first wife, the former Catherine Reid, whom he married Nov. 25, 1945, died in 1979.
Surviving are his wife, the former Muriel "Fluffy" Norton, whom he married Aug. 14, 1994, in Peotone; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vaunceil and Gene Kruse of Momence, Linda and Dale Weitz of Stevens Point, Wis.; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one stepdaughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Butch Lanoue of Manteno; mother-in-law, Myrtle Norton of Joliet; four sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law, all of the Joliet area.
Two brothers; one sister; and one granddaughter, are deceased.
He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone; and a former member of the United Methodist Church of Momence where he was a lay minister, member of the Board of Trustees, active member of the Methodist Men and a Sunday School teacher.
Mr. Strassenburg was a 4-H leader of the Momence Troopers 4-H Club.
He began competitive running in 1975. He ran in competitions world wide on the AAU Master's Circuit, was an internationally ranked runner and competed in Master's Olympics in Rome, Finland, Australia and the United States. He was a member of the Kankakee Runner's Club.
He traveled extensively, beginning with a World Agricultural Tour in 1969. He also enjoyed music and performed with The Sand Fleas, a local music ensemble, for a number of years.

Lawrence Weaver

CHATSWORTH -- Lawrence D. Weaver, 82, of Ottawa, formerly of Chatsworth, died Wednesday (March 20, 2002) at the Ottawa Pavilion.
Services were held March 23 at the Mueller Funeral Home, Ottawa.
Burial, with military rites, was in Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa.
Surviving are three sons, Ronald, Dennis and Bruce, all of Ottawa; two grandsons; and two sisters, Delphia Wilson and Bernadine Mullens, both of Chatsworth.

Arlene Ingalls
owned grocery

MILFORD -- Arlene R. Ingalls, 91, of Milford, died Monday (March 25, 2002) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Wednesday until the 2 p.m. services at the Knapp Funeral Home, Milford. Her grandson, Rev. Tom McCann, will officiate.
Burial will be in the Sheldon cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Milford Nazarene Church or to Iroquois Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Ingalls, along with her husband, owned and operated a grocery store and locker plant in Milford for many years.
She was born April 8, 1910, in Kewanna, Ind., the daughter of Rufus and Gustava Spotts Rouch.
Her husband, Howard M. Ingalls, whom she married April 23, 1932, in Chicago, died June 29, 1979.
Surviving are one daughter, Gloria Hassen of Milford; and grandchildren, Brenda McCann, Bill McCann, Tom McCann, Mark McCann and Michael McCann; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
One brother, Charles, is deceased.
She was a 1927 graduate of Milford High School.
She was a member of Milford Nazarene Church.

Arthur DuCharme
retired firefighter

Visitation for Arthur P. "Duchie" DuCharme, 74, of Kankakee, will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel.
A Liturgy of the Word will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where he was a member. Rev. Richard Jacklin will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Hundred Club.
Mr. DuCharme died Sunday (March 24, 2002) at his home.
Mr. DuCharme worked on the Kankakee Fire Department from 1957 until his retirement as a lieutenant in 1977. He worked part-time at Kankakee Welding as a welder and Kankakee Water Pollution Control for 10 years from 1979-1989.
In 1959, he developed a unique gadget designed to protect an exposed building when a nearby structure is on fire -- called a water curtain adapter.
He was born April 21, 1927, in Kankakee, the son of Arthur and Leda Betourne DuCharme.
Surviving are his wife, the former Delores Sorensen, whom he married July 19, 1948, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church; one daughter and son-in-law, Arthur and Sue DuCharme of Chandler, Ariz.; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda Lee and Herb Zerwick of Bourbonnais, Christie and Jim Keigher, Pamela M. Hammond, all of Kankakee, Dorine Vallos and her fiance, Stephen Reinbold of Manteno; one sister, Dorothy Stowell of Sacramento, Calif.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
One sister, Dorine Randle, is deceased.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II.
He was a member of the Moose, the Kankakee VFW and a past member of the American Legion.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, baseball and was a Cubs fan.

Betty Elliot

CHEBANSE -- Visitation for Betty L. Elliot, 79, of Chebanse, will be from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the Knapp Funeral Home, Clifton.
Services will be held at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday at the United Church of Chebanse, where she was a member. Rev. Dennis Brayman will officiate.
Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Chebanse.
Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
Mrs. Elliot died Sunday (March 24, 2002) at Miller Healthcare Center, Kankakee.
Mrs. Elliot was a switchboard operator for Illinois Bell and then worked in the business office for over 10 years.
She was born March 23, 1923, in Kankakee, the daughter of George H. and Edith Fowler Dandurand.
Her husband, Glen E. Elliot, whom she married Nov. 25, 1944, in Kankakee, died Nov. 30, 1993.
Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, John and Shirley Dandurand of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Donald Ziemer of Richland, Wash.; two sisters-in-law, Annette and Ivan Bossert of Reddick, Effie and Bob Winkel of Sun City West, Ariz.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
One sister-in-law, Ruby Young, is deceased.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chebanse, and the Kankakee Women of the Moose.
She enjoyed playing bridge and traveling.
