Alexandra "Alex" Fato

Alexandra "Alex" Fato, 17, of Kankakee, died Tuesday (March 12, 2002).
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday.
Burial will be in the Limestone cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the junior class of Herscher High School.
She was born Sept. 6, 1984, in Kankakee, the daughter of Thomas and Cindy Blake Fato.
Surviving besides her parents of Kankakee are one brother, Chris Fato of Kankakee; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Joanne Blake of Aroma Park; two aunts, Theresa Evanko of Elizabeth, N.J., Donna and Scott Henderson of Kankakee; and two uncles, Kenny and Patti Blake of Aroma Park and Steve and Barb Blake of Kankakee; and other aunts and uncles; and several cousins.
Her paternal grandparents, Thomas and Margaret Fato, are deceased.
Alex was a junior at Herscher High School.
She enjoyed friends, family, music (CD), shopping, sports, especially softball; was a racing fan and a member of Students for Environmental Action.

Caitlin Shelby Poppie

BONFIELD - Caitlin Shelby Poppie, 16, of Bonfield, died Tuesday (March 12, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilman. The Rev. John Balluff will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery, Gilman.
Memorials may be made to a scholarship fund in her name.
She was born April 8, 1985, in Kankakee, the daughter of Bill G. and Robin Lynn Ishmiel Poppie.
Surviving besides her parents of Bonfield are three sisters and one brother-in-law, Haven and Tim Walters of Bourbonnais, Ainsley Poppie of Bonfield, and Sissie Poppie of Libertyville; one brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Kathie Poppie of Crescent City; one niece and nephew, Shawn and Page Poppie of Crescent City; several cousins; maternal grandparents, Judge and Jeannie Ishmiel of Gilman; paternal grandparents, Bill and Dee Poppie of Gilman; maternal great-grandfather, Leroy Hilderbrandt of Gilman; maternal uncles, Rick and Cheryl Ishmiel, Chris and Kristi Ishmiel, all of Gilman, Mike Ishmiel and fiancee, Michelle Meyer, of Watseka; paternal aunts, Annie Poppie of DeKalb, Marsha Poppie of Naperville; paternal uncles, Dave and Lauren Poppie of Bloomington, Frank Poppie of Orland Park, Sandy and Kathy Poppie of Bourbonnais.
Her great-grandmothers, Ethel Hilderbrandt, Anna Ishmiel, Julia Ryan and Carolyn Deitrich, are deceased.
Caitlin was a junior at Herscher High School and worked at the Exploration Station as an Adventure Guide where she loved children.
She was a member of the Catholic faith.
She was involved in volleyball, basketball and SEA (Student Environmental Awareness) at school. She was also involved in the Players Choice Club in volleyball.

Dale Bulthuis I

ONARGA - Dale Bulthuis I, 60, of Onarga, died Wednesday (March 13, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
Arrangements are pending at the Knapp Funeral Home, Onarga.

Edythe Oldham Bridgewater

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Edythe Oldham Bridgewater, 85, of Phoenix, Ariz., and the mother of a Bourbonnais resident, died Monday (March 11, 2002).
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
She was born Feb. 7, 1917, in Phoenix, Ariz., the daughter of Robert and Willie Evans.
Surviving are one daughter, Lee Ann Lobaugh; two sons, Paul Bridgewater and Jim Bridgewater of Bourbonnais; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Martha Churchill.
Her former husband, Ross Bridgewater; and one sister, Vivian Cotts, are deceased.
Mrs. Bridgewater worked for the state of Arizona.
She was a member of the Dudetts (Ladies Auxiliary of the Phoenix Jaycees) and the Roosevelt Women's Club.
She was a second generation Arizonan and enjoyed playing trivia questions about old Arizona.

Ernest M. Hornbuckle

SHELDON - Ernest M. Hornbuckle, 67, of Sheldon, died Wednesday (March 13, 2002) at his home.
Arrangements are pending at the Knapp Funeral Home, Sheldon.

Francis Halpin

GARDNER - Francis Halpin, 77, of Gardner, died Wednesday (March 13, 2002) at Morris Hospital.
Arrangements are pending at R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes.

Gloria M. Jacot

SHELDON - Gloria M. Jacot, 73, of Brevard, N.C., formerly of Sheldon, died Friday (March 1, 2002) at Transylvania Community Hospital, Brevard.
Visitation will be from noon Saturday until the 1 p.m. services at the Knapp Funeral Home, Milford. The Rev. Neil Larimore will officiate.
Burial will be in Sugar Creek cemetery, Stockland.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, to the Salvation Army; or to the Animal Lighthouse.
She was born March 3, 1928, in Watseka, the daughter of Medwin and Goldie Johnson Warrick.
Surviving are her husband, Charles J. Jacot, whom she married Feb. 5, 1950, in Sheldon; and one sister, Norma Schaumburg of Milford.
She graduated valedictorian of Sheldon High School in 1946 and attended Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. and Indiana University.

Helen Lalumendre

RUSSELVILLE, Ark. - Helen Lalumendre, 79, of Russellville, Ark., formerly of Peotone, died Wednesday (March 13, 2002).
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Humphrey Funeral Service in Russellville, Ark.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Russellville, Ark.
Graveside Chapel services will be at 11 a.m. March 18 at Skyline Memorial Park in Monee.
Local arrangements are by Fedde-Helfrich Chapel in Peotone.
Mrs. Lalumendre was born Jan. 6, 1923, the son of Fred and Julia Deininger Reitz.
Her husband, Dennis Lalumendre, is deceased.
Surviving are three daughters, Donna Komander of Greenwood, Ark., Peggy Jennings of Hope Mills, N.C., and Judy Harms of Hot Springs, Ark.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lalumendre was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Russellville, Ark.

Irene M. "Granny" Tanner

Visitation for Irene M. "Granny" Tanner, 88, of Kankakee, will be held from 3:30-8 p.m. Friday at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Kathy Sweet will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 1200 W. Calista, Kankakee, where she was a member.
Mrs. Tanner died Tuesday (March 12, 2002) at Miller Healthcare Center.
She was born Aug. 18, 1913, in Luther, Mich., the daughter of Cecil T. and Clara Mattocks Woods.
Her husband, Elmer L. Tanner, whom she married Oct. 1, 1935, in Donovan, is deceased.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Donna Tanner of Herscher, and Kenneth and Rebecca Tanner of Lakewood, N.M.; one sister, Evelyn Wilson of Elwood, Ind.; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Gladys Woods of Santa Maria, Calif.; six grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
One sister, Helen Hiltz; and one brother, Franklin Woods, are deceased.
She was a 1931 graduate of Sheldon High School.
Mrs. Tanner and her husband moved to Arizona in 1976 and back to Kankakee in 1982.
She was a member of the South Limestone Social Circle.
She enjoyed reading, playing games, country western music, playing the piano, cooking and baking.

Leota Warren

SHELDON - Leota Warren, 85, of Sheldon, died Wednesday (March 13, 2002) at her home.
Arrangements are pending at the Knapp Funeral Home, Sheldon.

Marjorie A. Avey Haag

MONEE - Marjorie A. Avey Haag, 73, of Monee, formerly of Cullom, died Wednesday (March 13, 2002) at South Suburban Hospital.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Park Forest, where she was a member. The Rev. John Bost will officiate.
Burial will be in Skyline Memorial Park, Monee. Pallbearers will be Larry, Jerry, Jeffrey, Brad, Alan and Marc Haag.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
She was born March 2, 1929, in Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Mino and Josephine Breidert Johnson.
Her husband, Herbert Haag, died in 1966.
Surviving are six sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Toni Haag of Lincoln, Mo., Jerry and Marcia Haag, Jeffrey and Signa Haag, Brad and Debbie Haag, Alan and B.J. Haag, and Marc and Debbie Haag, all of Peotone; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Patricia Johnson of Cullom.
One sister, Virginia Drendel, is deceased.

Mary C. Deany

Visitation for Mary C. Deany, 85, of Cullom, will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, with a 5 p.m. rosary service, at the Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Cullom.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church, Cullom, where she was a member. The Rev. Thomas Holloway will officiate.
Burial will be in St. John's cemetery, Cullom.
Memorials may be made to the Cullom Fire Department Ambulance; St. John's Catholic Church; or to the Cullom Memorial Library.
Mrs. Deany died Tuesday (March 12, 2002) at Livingston Manor, rural Pontiac.
She was born Jan. 23, 1917, in Chatsworth, the daughter of Louis G. and Gertrude M. Gewehr Dietz.
Her husband, LeRoy P. Deany, whom she married May 25, 1934, in Cullom, died July 23, 1994.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Paul and Jean Deany of Normal, and Ronald Deany of rural Chatsworth; one daughter, Rita Deany of Wonder Lake; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Margaret Dietz of Kankakee; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Margaret and Wayne Wurzburger of Gilman, Gertrude Bogner of Ukiah, Calif., and Josephine and Charles Weber of Seminole, Fla.; and four sisters-in-law, Nelda Dietz of rural Piper City, Evelyn Dietz of Gilman, Rosie Dietz of Cullom and Mary Dietz of Lewistown.
One daughter-in-law, Sue Deany; six brothers, Walter, Louis, Clarence, John, Martin and Leo Dietz; and two sisters, Dorothy Dancey and Alice Klehm, are deceased.
Mrs. Deany was a cook for the Cullom School and later Tri-Point School at Cullom.
She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of her church and had been a member of the former Guardian Angel Study Club at her church.

Max E. West

A committal service for Max E. West, 85, formerly of Kankakee, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Clifton cemetery.
A memorial visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday and continue until the 11 a.m. celebration of the funeral Mass at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Kankakee.
Mr. West died Wednesday (Feb. 27, 2002) at Central DuPage hospital in Winfield.

Nora Flesher

Nora Flesher, 82, of Kankakee, died Tuesday (Feb. 26, 2002) at Provena Heritage Village.
Cremation rites were accorded by the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
She was born Aug. 10, 1919, in Chicago.
Her husband, Ray Flesher, survives in Kankakee.
