Wendy Brown

REDDICK -- Wendy Lyn Brown, 37, of Reddick, died Saturday (Dec. 28, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. Thursday until the 7 p.m. service at R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes Ltd., Braidwood Chapel.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

Private graveside services will be held in Wesley Township cemetery in Ritchie.

Ms. Brown was born Nov. 1, 1965 in Havana, Ill., the daughter of Glen and Joyce Attwell Brown.

Surviving in addition to her parents of Wilmington, are one son, Shane Shepherd of Wilmington; a special friend, Vernon Arnold of Reddick; and one sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Chris Viebach of Mercer, Wis.

She was a horsetrainer because of her love for horses.

Paul Cravens
landscaper, truck driver

GILMAN -- Visitation for Paul Cravens, 85, of Gilman, will be from 3-6 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. services at the Redenius Funeral Home, Gilman. Rev. Gary Fairchild will officiate.

Inurnment will be held at a later date at Wenger cemetery in Gilman.

Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice or to the donor's choice.

He died Wednesday (Dec. 25, 2002) at the Gilman Nursing Pavilion, after an extended illness.

Mr. Cravens was a landscaper and truck driver. For many years he had worked for the Onarga Nursery and Gibson Transfer, both in Onarga, and Security Lumber Company in Bradley.

He was born July 2, 1917, in Gentry's Mill, Ky., the son of Tim and Kit Briant Cravens.

Surviving are his wife, the former Helen M. Griest, whom he married in 1939, in Peoria; two daughters, Geraldine "Gerri" Fiets of Bourbonnais, Pauline Miller and her husband, Ron Allen of Acworth, Ga.; son-in-law, Arnold Hess of Danforth; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild and four step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eula Wenke of Greenwood, Ind., Sara Moss of Columbia, Ky., Anne Conover of Russell Springs, Ky.; and three brothers, Charles Cravens of Shepherdsville, Ky., Samual Cravens of Lebanon Junction, Ky., and George Cravens of Middletown, Ohio.

One daughter, Dorothy Hess; two brothers, Carl Cravens, and Logan Cravens; and one son-in-law, Harold Fiets, are deceased.

He moved from Kentucky to Illinois in 1933. He had lived in Melvin, Roberts, and Onarga, moving to Gilman in April of 1942.

Mr. Cravens was a member of the Baptist Church and the Chauffeurs and Teamsters Union for 37 years.

He enjoyed woodworking.

Verna Feddersen

GRANT PARK -- Verna C. Feddersen, 81, of Grant Park, died Saturday (Dec. 28, 2002) at Momence Meadows.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Hack Funeral Home in Beecher.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Grant Park. Rev. Lon Landsmann will officiate.

Burial will be in Zion Lutheran cemetery in Grant Park.

Mrs. Feddersen was born March 15, 1921 in Beecher, the daughter of Henry and Clara Matthias Seitz.

Her husband, Gilbert Feddersen, is deceased.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Butch and Suzie Feddersen of Grant Park; five daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Greg Gelino of Momence, Patsy and Bill Loitz, Phyllis and Steve Fick, Donna and Glen Hoevet, all of Grant Park, Bonnie and Mike Blomarz of Frankfort; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Lester and Jean Seitz, Harold Seitz, all of Beecher; nine grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

One brother, Elmer Seitz, is deceased.

Mrs. Feddersen was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Grant Park.

Phyllis Hansen

Phyllis Hansen, 83, of Kankakee, died Friday (Dec. 27, 2002) at Miller Healthcare Center.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes with services on Tuesday.

Thomas Kent

Thomas G. Kent, 81, of Kankakee, died Thursday (Dec. 26, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, after a short illness.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the 11 a.m. services at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.

Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery.

Mr. Kent retired from A.O. Smith Corporation after more than 30 years of service.

He was born July 9, 1921, in Minook, the son of Charles and Sarah Wagner Kent. His parents are deceased.

His wife, the former Rosemary Bridges, whom he married Aug. 16, 1952, in Kankakee, died March 26, 1987.

Surviving are one son, Robert of Naperville; one daughter, Carol of Naperville; one sister, Edna Lamie of Tennessee; two brothers, Charles of Kankakee, John of Texas; and one grandson.

Mr. Kent was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Adrian LaFine

Visitation for Adrian R. "Suede" LaFine, 71, of Bourbonnais, will be from 4 p.m. Monday until the 6 p.m. service at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

Memorials may be made to the family's wishes.

Mr. LaFine died Thursday (Dec. 26, 2002).

He was born Dec. 21, 1931 in Kankakee, the son of Adrian J. and Lena Guttendorf LaFine. His parents are deceased.

Surviving are his wife, the former Mary O. Klingsmith, whom he married May 28, 1966 in Kankakee, of Bourbonnais; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Tami LaFine of Bourbonnais, Fred and Kris LaFine of Bradley, four daughters and three sons-in-law, Lisa and Bruce Beland, Rhonda and Steve Hanlon, all of Bourbonnais, Lena Mechelle LaFine of Bradley, Gena and Ryan Blackwell of Evansville, Ind.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Arliss DeYoung, Linda and Danny Grace, all of Bourbonnais, Joan and Eldon Boudreau of Kankakee; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Melvin LaFine, Marvin and Julie LaFine, all of Kankakee, Dee and Marsha LaFine of Mawmee, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

One brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Billie Jean LaFine, are deceased.

Mr. LaFine retired from A.O. Smith, after 37 years.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Marines as a military policeman.

He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Kankakee.

He was a color guard champion for the Kankakee VFW Color Guard, a member of the Kankakee VFW, and a past commander of the Bradley American Legion.

He enjoyed bowling, Friday night stock car races and camping.

Harlan Marr

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Harlan E. Marr, 75, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Manteno, died Wednesday (Dec. 18, 2002) in Tucson.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church, 3407 E. Third Street, Tucson, Ariz. Revs. Taylor and Westfall will co-officiate.

Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Presbyterian Church or the Alzheimer Association, 5132 E. Pima St., Tucson, Ariz., 86712.

Mr. Marr was born Nov. 11, 1927 in Manteno. His parents are deceased.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Audrey Marr of Tucson, Ariz.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James B. Marr, and Jay C. and Patricia Marr; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Toby Slade; four great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Genita and Michael Salvagio; four sisters-in-law, Lucille Marr, Rosa Marr, Irma Dralle and Calvin Meyer, all of Illinois, and Lois and Allen Carstens of Tucson, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Wendell and Gerald Marr, are deceased.

Mr. Marr was vice president and field manager of Carstens Electrical Service Inc. for 32 years.

He was a member of St. Mark's Presbyterian Church and volunteered for Tucson's Midtown Neighborhood Association.

Maureen O'Keefe

MANTENO -- Maureen A. O'Keefe, 62, of Manteno, died Friday (Dec. 27, 2002) at her home.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home of Manteno Ltd., with services at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Harvey Gaither will officiate.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.

Ms. O'Keefe was born Aug. 1, 1940 in Sunfield, the daughter of Clarence M. and Mae Moore O'Keefe. Her parents are deceased.

Surviving are her twin brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Donna O'Keefe of Manteno; two other brothers and one sister-in-law, Philip and Carolyn O'Keefe of Stockton, Jerry O'Keefe of Portage, Ind.; a special friend, Wanda Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

One brother, Pat O'Keefe, is deceased.

Ms. O'Keefe was retired from New United Motors.

She was of the Methodist faith.

She loved Las Vegas and playing cards.

Melvin Pew

WASHINGTON, Ill. -- Melvin E. Pew, 89, of Washington, Ill., formerly of Donovan, died Thursday (Dec. 26, 2002) at Eureka Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka.

Private services will be held.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens in rural Morton.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital or to the donor's choice.

Arrangements are by Deiters Funeral Home in Washington.

Mr. Pew was born Jan. 11, 1913 in Iroquois County, the son of Charles Leroy and Hattie Jean Saunders Pew.

His wife, the former Gladys Olieta Zumwalt, whom he married Nov. 4, 1933 in Donovan, died Sept. 10, 1989 in Peoria.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Bob Curley of Washington; one brother and sister-in-law, Merle and Norma Jean Pew of Jonesboro, Ark.; six grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

One great-grandson is deceased.

Mr. Pew was a superintendent at Caterpillar Tractor Co. for 35 1/2 years, retiring in 1973.

He was a member of Sunnyland Christian Church for 60 years, where he served as the chairman of the board, a deacon, and elder and, later, an elder emeritus.

He was a past member of the Hillcrest Senior Golf League in Washington, the East Peoria Seniors Billiards Club and had served as past president of the District 50 School Board in Washington.

He was a member of the Hilton Lodge 1143 in East Peoria, where he was a 50-year member; a member of the Scottish Rite Masonry of Peoria; and a lifetime member of the Mohammed Temple Shrine of Peoria.

Betty Pomatto

BRAIDWOOD -- Betty Ann Pomatto, 79, of Braidwood, died Friday (Dec. 27, 2002) at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at R. W. Patterson Funeral Homes Ltd., Braidwood Chapel.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church in Braidwood. Rev. Steve Bondi will officiate.

Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner cemetery in Braceville.

Memorials may be made to the Braidwood Ambulance Fund.

Mrs. Pomatto was born June 17, 1923 in Carlinville, the daughter of George and Anna Wishnevsky Harrop.

Her husband, Andrew L. "Tootie" Pomatto, whom she married in 1942, is deceased.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Ronnie Fair of Shorewood; four grandchildren, Stephanie Escobedo, Christopher Fair, Eric Fair, Allison Fair; twin great-granddaughters; one brother, George Harrop of Gardner; a sister, Geraldine Brown of Morris; two nieces and one nephew.

One daughter, Charyl Kay Pomatto, is deceased.

Mrs. Pomatto was formerly employed at Uniroyal and APSA in Joliet, and later at the arsenal in Rock Island, retiring in 1989.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Braidwood.
