Alice Harris

Visitation for Alice L. Harris, 93, of Kankakee, will be from 9 a.m. Saturday until the 11 a.m. services at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel. Rev. James Williams will officiate.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Aroma Park United Methodist Church, where she was a member.
She died Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2003) at the Miller Center in Kankakee.
Mrs. Harris was a retired nurse.
She was born Nov. 16, 1909, in Crescent City, the daughter of Joseph and Mabel Harris Stump.
Her husband, Thurman Harris, whom she married Jan. 2, 1932, in Crown Point, Ind., is deceased.
Two brothers, Lee and Howard, are deceased.

Kerstin Herron

WELLINGTON -- Visitation for Kerstin Herron, 30, of Wellington, will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Knapp Funeral Home in Milford.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Prairie Green Church of Christ, Hoopeston, where she was a member. Rev. Charles Alt will officiate.
Burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Milford.
Memorials may be made to her son's education.
She died Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2003) at Hoopeston Community Hospital.
Mrs. Herron was a manager at the McDonald's in Hoopeston and had been a paralegal in Germany.
She was born Nov. 5, 1972, in Wiesbaden, Germany, the daughter of Gerdhart and Brigetta Boyie Lehman.
Surviving are her husband, William "Pete" Herron, whom she married June 26, 1996, in Denmark, of Wellington; one son, William Gerdhart Herron at home; one half-sister, Marie Lehman of Germany; father and stepmother, Gerdhart and Margaret Lehman of Germany; mother and stepfather, Brigetta and Rehiner Frye of Germany; one stepsister; one stepbrother; paternal grandmother, Alfreda Lehman of Germany; and maternal grandfather, William Boyie of Germany.
She enjoyed gardening.

Joseph Hetherington
Army veteran

AURORA -- Joseph David "Dave Wright" Hetherington, 56, of Aurora, and the father of Kankakee residents, died Monday (Jan. 20, 2003) at the Elmwood Nursing Home in Aurora, from cancer.
Visitation will be from noon Friday until the 1 p.m. services at the Dieterle Memorial Funeral Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Aurora. Bishop W.H. Bonner will officiate.
Burial will be in Riverside cemetery in Aurora.
Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born July 1, 1946 in New York.
Surviving are six sons and one daughter-in-law, David and Wytania Hetherington and Marlon Hetherington, all of Kankakee, Rashun Wright, David Love and Darryl Love, all of Aurora, Dana Northern of Atlanta, Ga.; four daughters, Charmaine Peterson, Kenya Peterson, Tawana Terell, all of Aurora, Lotoya Rason of Arkansas; four sisters, Claudia Bowens and Nancy Wilson, both of Akron, Ohio, Lois Rogers and Pamela Wright, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; his mother, Gloria (Tracy) Wright of Las Vegas, Nev.; three brothers, Aaron Dexter and Rubin Dexter, both of Akron, Ohio, Stefan Wright of Las Vegas, Nev.; 21 grandchildren; grandmother, Florence L. Lewis of Las Vegas, Nev.; three special friends, including Sarah Jones and family of Kankakee; best friends, Joe Bogard and Robert Blockshear; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His father, John Hetherington; stepfather, Charles Wright; twin son, RaShard Wright; and two grandsons, Joseph and K.C. Hetherington, are deceased.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Hetherington was a member of the Christian faith.
He enjoyed cooking, writing poetry and singing.

Dorothy Johnson

COUNTRY CLUB HILLS -- Dorothy "Dianne" Johnson, 59, of Country Club Hills, formerly of Markham, and the mother of a Kankakee resident, died Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2003) at South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. today at the Hirsch Funeral Homes, Lincolnway Chapel, 3501 W. Lincoln Highway, Matteson, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday.
Burial will be in Cedar Park cemetery, Calumet Park.
She was born Oct. 16, 1943 in San Diego, Calif.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Johnson; two daughters and one son-in-law, Vikki Gardner of Columbus, Ohio, Tammy and Jerry Hoover of Kankakee; two sons, Robert Johnson Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev., Richard Johnson of Country Club Hills; father and stepmother, Arthur and Brenda Wolak of Matteson; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Barbara and Richard Johnson of Oklahoma, Betty Glomski of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Jack Wolak of Toledo, Ohio, Gary Wolak of Matteson; and five grandchildren.
Her mother, Dorothy Confare Wolak; and one brother, Arthur Wolak Jr., are deceased.

Mary Nagel

MONEE -- Mary A. Nagel, 73, of rural Monee, died Wednesday (Jan. 29, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 3-7:30 p.m. Friday at the Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Bruce Salter will officiate.
Burial will be in Skyline Memorial Park in Monee. Pallbearers will be Fred Jr., Ryan, Nick, David, Phillip and Jess Nagel and Selena Lehnard.
Memorials may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ or to the Peotone Paramedics.
She was born April 4, 1929, in Manteno, the daughter of Noel and Eva Bingham Prairie.
Surviving are her husband, Ralph Nagel, whom she married May 21, 1949, in Manteno, of Monee; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Fred and Ann Marie Nagel and Ed Nagel, all of Monee, Ralph Jr. and Joyce Nagel of Manteno; six grandchildren; six sisters and five brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Bob Smith of Watseka, Nona and Marvin Stauffenberg of Manteno, Janice and Bob Gordon of Martinton, Mae and Bob Johnson, Neva and Rich Wheeler and Sandy Bahr, all of Manteno.
Mrs. Nagel was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, North Peotone and the YMCA.
She enjoyed playing cards and crocheting.

William Oberholtzer

PONTIAC -- William R. Oberholtzer, 83, of West Allis, Wis., formerly of Pontiac, and the father of a Bourbonnais resident, died Wednesday (Jan. 29, 2003) at Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wis.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Friday at the Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home in Pontiac.
Private family services will be held later at the First Lutheran Church in Pontiac, where he was a member. Rev. William J. Shields will officiate.
Private inurnment, with military graveside rites, will be in Memorial Park, Pontiac.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Mr. Oberholtzer owned and operated Oberholtzer Plumbing and Heating in Pontiac from 1952-1977.
He was born March 2, 1919, in West Liberty, the son of Sol B. and Evelyn Tincher Oberholtzer.
His first wife, the former Eileen Krippel, died in 1946.
Surviving are his wife, the former Doris V. Wurmnest, whom he married June 28, 1947 of West Allis; one son and daughter-in-law, William R. Jr. and Linda Oberholtzer of Richfield, Wis.; three daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Oberholtzer of Bourbonnais, Susan Harris of Plano, Texas, Jane and Jim Cushing of Pontiac; six grandchildren; and four brothers and one sister-in-law, Jack Oberholtzer of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Ken and Sharon Oberholtzer and Max Oberholtzer, all of Peoria and Gerald Oberholtzer of Joliet.
Two brothers, James and Herman Oberholtzer; and two sisters, Betty Ives and Dorothy Scherer, are deceased.
He was educated in rural Pontiac schools.
Mr. Oberholtzer was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee in the South Pacific, where he received the Purple Heart.
He was a life member of the Pontiac Elks Lodge, the Pontiac VFW Post 886, AF&AM; Lodge 294, Pontiac and the American Legion Post in Pontiac.

Gordon Osborn,
food service director

HERRIN -- Gordon R. Osborn, 87, of Parkway Estates, formerly of Kankakee, died Monday (Jan. 27, 2003) at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
His body will be cremated per his wishes and interred at a later date at East Shoreham cemetery in Shoreham, Vt., with arrangements by the Miller, Ketcham and Mallory Funeral Home in Brandon, Vt.
Johnson Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin is in charge of Illinois arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Camp of Little Giant at SIU-C Touch of Nature in support of people with disabilities or to the Herrin First Presbyterian Church in Herrin. They will be accepted at Johnson Hughes Funeral Home, P.O. Box 429, Herrin, IL 62948.
Mr. Osborn was a director of food services for the ARA Services in Kankakee.
He was born Nov. 20, 1915, in Richford, Vt., the son of Raymond Marden and Maud Bissell Osborn. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Lance, whom he married Dec. 26, 1946, in Vergennes, Vt., of Marion; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jim and Mary Jo Osborn of Carterville, Randy Osborn of Carbondale; grandchildren, Chris and Christy Osborn of Omaha, Neb., Adam Osborn of Normal, Tom Osborn of Kirksville, Mo.; and one great-grandson, Truman Osborn of Omaha, Neb.
One sister, Betty Dorland, is deceased.
He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II in India and Burma.
Mr. Osborn attended the First Presbyterian Church in Herrin.

Donita Plese

WILMINGTON -- Donita L. Plese, 73, of Wilmington, died Monday (Jan. 27, 2003) at her home.
She was born Oct. 24, 1929, in Byron, the daughter of Donald and Burdena Cambell.
Donita and her husband Jim engaged in farming for over 50 years, as well as taught school in the Wilmington area. She was also an active member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, having formerly served on the school board and parish council.
Surviving are her loving husband Jim; five sons, John (Jackie) Plese, Jim (Debbie) Plese, Jay (Staci) Plese, all of Wilmington, Joe (Jane) Plese of Morris, Jacque Plese of Wilmington; five daughters, Suzy (Larry) Rhodes of Carbondale, Venita (Greg) Dennis, Janelle (Jim) Ganz, Jacqueline (Bob) Rink, and Jina and her fiance, Al Ward, all of Wilmington; one sister, Kay Hanna of Virginia; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as friends.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday at the Reeves Funeral Home in Wilmington. Funeral services will then follow on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Rose Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. with Rev. Frank Vitus and Deacon Don Dyer officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Olivet cemetery in Wilmington.
Memorials to St. Rose School, St. Rose Church and The Kuzma Care Cottage appreciated.

Richard Reithknecht

CUSTER PARK -- Richard E. Reithknecht, 47, of Custer Park, died Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2003) at the Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Davenport, Fla.
Arrangements are tentatively set with visitation on Sunday and services on Monday.
R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
