May Reilly

Visitation for May Y. Reilly, 87, of Kankakee, will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Kankakee, where she was a member.
Burial will be in All Saints cemetery in Bourbonnais.
Memorials may be made to the Legionnaires of Christ or to St. Rose of Lima Ladies of St. Anne.
She died suddenly Friday (Jan. 10, 2003) at her home.
Mrs. Reilly worked at Domestic Laundry for many years until it closed.
She was born June 25, 1915, in Bourbonnais, the daughter of Emile and Mary Libert Boudreau.
Her husband, Bernard E. Reilly, whom she married Sept. 7, 1935, at Maternity BVM Catholic Church, died Jan. 23, 1994.
Surviving are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Edward and Sharon Reilly of Bourbonnais, Gerald and Fran Reilly of Seminole, Fla., Rev. Ronald and Nancy Reilly of Atlanta, Ga., David Reilly of Lacey, Wash.; grandchildren, Gary Reilly of Lantana, Fla., Barry and Lisa Reilly of Bloomington, Paul Reilly of Kankakee, Amy and Brian Irle of Bourbonnais, Fr. Steven Reilly of Dallas, Texas, Fr. Scott Reilly of Atlanta, Ga., Kathy and Kris Horvath of Gilbert, Ariz., Jennifer and Enrial Enriquez of Pinellas Park, Fla., Ronald Jr. and Kasi Reilly and Jon Reilly, all of Atlanta, Ga. and James Reilly of Olympia, Wash.; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lorina Byron of Richland, Wash.
Two brothers, Harry and Arthur Boudreau; one sister, Agatha LaGesse; and one grandson, Andrew Reilly, are deceased.
Mrs. Reilly was a member of St. Rose of Lima Ladies of St. Anne.
She was a Chicago sports fan.

Janet Ruhlander

FAIRBURY -- Janet L. Ruhlander, 81, of Fairbury, and the mother of a Kankakee resident, died Saturday (Jan. 11, 2003) at Fairview Haven Nursing Home in Fairbury.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. Steven Anderson will officiate.
Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Fairbury.
Memorials may be made to the Janet Ruhlander Memorial Fund or to the First Baptist Church in Fairbury, where she was a member.
Mrs. Ruhlander had worked at American Can Printing Co. from 1960-85 and later at Ringier Company in Pontiac.
She was born Jan. 2, 1922, in rural Chenoa, the daughter of Ezra and Maude Diffendefer Jenkins.
Her husband, George Ruhlander, whom she married in February 1940, in Kentland, Ind., died Jan. 28, 1983.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Gordon and Barb Ruhlander of Louisville, Kan., Marshall and Nancy Ruhlander of Kankakee; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Steve Drach of Fairbury; dear friends, Emily Carey and Evelyn Yoder; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Two brothers and one granddaughter are deceased.
She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Fairbury.

Andrew Andrews
local contractor

BONFIELD -- Andrew G. Andrews, 64, of Bonfield, died Monday (Jan. 13, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee, in the emergency room, surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Leah Pogemiller will officiate.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery, Kankakee.
Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
Mr. Andrews was the owner/operator of Park Mill in Bradley and owner/operator of Andrews Construction. He was a local contractor for over 43 years.
He was born Oct. 23, 1938, in Chicago, the son of John and Lois Stowe Andrews. His parents are deceased.
He attended St. Nicholos Catholic Church in Chicago.
Mr. Andrews was the former president of the Homebuilders Association.
He loved his family and traveling and enjoyed reading and gardening.
"He touched many lives through his family and his profession."
Surviving are his wife, the former Patricia Reynolds, whom he married Nov. 24, 1988, in Milwaukee, Wis., of Bonfield; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Scott and Melody Andrews of Chebanse, Steve and Mary Jo Andrews of Ottawa, Stuart Andrews of Chicago; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sheri and John Glendinning of Minooka, Stefanie Andrews of Chicago; stepchildren, Scott and Cindy Franklin of Limestone, Shelly and Jim LaBarge of Bourbonnais; one sister and brother-in-law, Tekla and Jerry Hess of Lebanon, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, James, Kimberly and Bethany Andrews, Lindsey, Jared and Megan Andrews, Jacob Glendinning, Bryce and Breanna Franklin, Randy and Angela Barber and Megan LaBarge.
One granddaughter, Grace Katie Glendinning; and one grandson, Sean Michael Andrews, are deceased.

Rev. Edmond Blough

CAMPUS -- Rev. Edmond C. Blough, 90, of St. Augustine Manor, Peoria, formerly of Campus, died Sunday (Jan. 12, 3003) at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lacon.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the celebration of the 11 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Mary's Cathedral in Peoria. Monsignor Steven P. Rohlfs will officiate.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's cemetery, Odell.
Wright and Salmon Mortuary, Peoria, is in charge of arrangements.
He was born April 3, 1912, in Camp Grove, the son of Dr. George F. and Catherine M. Colgan Blough.
Surviving are four sisters, Margaret Schmidt of Peoria, Mary Brennan of Chicago, Ruth Cochran of Peoria, Rita Leggett of Huntington Beach, Calif.; three brothers, Dr. Paul Blough of Peoria, Joseph Blough and David Blough, both of Davenport, Iowa; and 97 nieces and nephews.
Six brothers and two sisters are deceased.
He prepared for the priesthood at St. Bede College, Peru; St. Louis Preparatory Seminary, St. Louis, Mo.; and Kenrick Seminary, Webster Grove, Mo.
He was ordained June 6, 1937 at St. Mary's Cathedral in Peoria. He was assistant at St. Mary's Cathedral, Peoria, 1937; St. Malachy Parish and its missions, Geneseo, 1938; and Holy Cross Parish, Champaign, 1940.
He was pastor at St. Patrick's Parish and missions, Havana, 1943; and chaplain during World War II at U.S. Army, Fort Jackson, S.C.; and Camp Cambell, Ky., 1945. He was then pastor at St. Theresa Parish and missions, Alexis, 1946; St. Louis Parish and missions, Princeton, 1955; St. Patrick Parish, Seneca, 1960; and Sacred Heart Parish in Campus, 1974.
Rev. Blough served the Diocese of Peoria for 42 years before retiring, and continued to serve as a resident of St. Augustine in Peoria. He celebrated his 65th anniversary as a priest in 2002.

Dorothy Crawley

Dorothy A. Crawley, 69, of Energy, formerly of Kankakee, died Monday (Jan. 13, 2003).
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the 10:30 a.m. celebration of the funeral Mass at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Herscher. Rev. James Holup will officiate.
Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul cemetery, Herscher.
Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
The Herscher Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
She was born May 28, 1933, in Kankakee, the daughter of Ralph and Caroline Pombert Stone. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jay Lowe of Herscher, Donna and Jeff Statler of Johnson City, Laure and Glen Harrison of Goreville; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Louise Updike of Bradley, Ruby and John Boguszewski of Kankakee, Verneille Lamie of Watseka; one brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Jean Stone of Kankakee; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Her former husband, Albert Crawley; one grandchild, Francis M. Lowe; one sister, Goldie Casper; and two brothers, Russell and Ralph Stone, are deceased.
Ms. Crawley was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Kankakee, and St. Margaret Mary Church, Herscher.
She liked to crochet.

Dorothy DeMent

SPENCER, N.C. -- Dorothy May Phillips DeMent, 69, of Spencer, N.C., formerly of Kankakee, died Sunday (Jan. 12, 2003) at the Brian Center Nursing and Rehabilitation in Salisbury, N.C., after an extended illness.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, followed by visitation with the family at the North Main Baptist Church, Salisbury, N.C., where she was a member. Rev. Dale Robertson will officiate.
Private burial will be in the U.S. National cemetery, Salisbury, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Main Baptist Church, Youth and Teen Fund or the Building Fund, 1501 N. Main St., Salisbury, NC 28144.
Summersett Funeral Home, Salisbury, N.C. is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Oct. 27, 1933, in Kankakee, the daughter of William F. and Dorothy Hoekstera Phillips. Her father is deceased.
Surviving are her husband, Ernest J. DeMent, whom she married April 3, 1954; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Steven and Diane DeMent of Kankakee, Allen DeMent of Spencer, N.C., Leland and Renay DeMent, of Salisbury, N.C.; her mother of Kankakee; two brothers, Furnley Phillips of Kewanee, Robert Phillips of Kankakee; one sister, Sharon Harrington of Charlotte, N.C.; and five grandchildren, Stephanie, Andrew and Danielle DeMent and Jonathan and Christina Maness.
She was a 1952 graduate of Kankakee High School.
Mrs. DeMent was a member of the Women's Mission Group at her church.
She was a wife and mother.

Rose Johnson

Rose Marie Johnson, 84, of Champaign, formerly of Kankakee, died Sunday (Jan. 12, 2003) at Manorcare Health Systems at Champaign, after a lengthy illness.
There will be no visitation.
Private services will be held Wednesday at the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton.
Burial will be in St. Peters Catholic cemetery, Clifton.
Memorials may be made to the Riverside Medical Center Foundation in Kankakee.
She was born Sept. 6, 1918, in Nokomis, the daughter of Roy and Maude Hamlin Pocock.
Her husband, Kenneth T. Johnson, whom she married Jan. 17, 1942, in Chillicothe, Mo., died Dec. 13, 2001.
Surviving are one son, Larry Johnson of Champaign; two daughters, Nan Giblin of Park Ridge, Janis Keyes of Indianapolis, Ind.; and one grandson, Daniel Giblin.
One sister is deceased.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
She enoyed painting and doing needlepoint.

Lucille Burling

CHEBANSE -- Services for Lucille Burling, 93, of Chebanse, were held Jan. 13 at the United Church of Christ in Chebanse. Revs. Dennis Brayman and Richard Sova officiated.
Mrs. Burling died Jan. 10, 2003.
Burial was in Evergreen cemetery, Chebanse. Pallbearers were Ronald, Douglas, Steve and Scott Seibring, David and Eric Hubert, Douglas Burling, Jim Martin and Joe Marcotte.

Harvey Roberson

Services for Harvey R. Roberson, 86, of Bourbonnais, were held Jan. 13 at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Revs. John Story and John Mohler officiated.
Mr. Roberson died Jan. 10, 2003.
Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Tim, Matt and Jeff Roberson, Jim Sargent, Norm Lewis and Mike Stone.
