Karen Linthicum
former teacher

CLIFTON -- Graveside services for Karen Lauridsen Linthicum, 67, of Ossining, N.Y., formerly of Kankakee and Clifton, will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 11 in the Clifton cemetery. Rev. William Callister will officiate.
Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton is in charge of arrangements.
She died Wednesday (Dec. 25, 2002) at her home.
Ms. Linthicum had been a school teacher in the Pocantico Hill School District.
She was born Dec. 21, 1935, in Clifton, the daughter of Victor and Irene Werkau Lauridsen. Her parents are deceased.
One son, D. Drew Linthicum of Ossining, N.Y., survives.
She was a member of the Lutheran church.

Isaac Steiner
farmer, drainage commissioner

BUCKLEY -- Isaac "Ike" Steiner, 86, a lifelong Buckley farmer, died Thursday (Jan. 2, 2003) at Heartland Health Care in Paxton, where he had been a resident for three months.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the Ford-Baier Funeral Home in Buckley, and from 12:30 p.m. Sunday until the 1:30 p.m. services at St. John's Lutheran Church in Buckley, where he was a member. Rev. Mark J. Haller will officiate.
Burial will be in St. John's cemetery, Buckley.
Memorials may be made to his church, Heartland Health Care of to a charity of the donor's choice.
Mr. Steiner farmed his entire life in Buckley. He also was drainage commissioner of Artesia Township for many years and had served on the St. John's School Board.
He was born Feb. 4, 1916, in Buckley, the son of John and Emma Reichen Steiner.
Surviving are his wife, the former Luella Flessner, whom he married Dec. 13, 1944, in Dixon; five daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Dave Johnson of Kankakee, Diane and Mike Gundlach of Hastings, Neb., Carol and Randy Hill of Kankakee, Donna and Roik Hockenberger of Mt. Laurel, N.J., Karen and Bill Mellon of Downs; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Abe Steiner of Monmouth, Art Steiner of Clifton, Colo.; and one sister, Elsie Bleich of Paxton.
Eight brothers and one sister are deceased.
He was a member of the the Ford-Iroquois Farm Bureau.
He collected antiques, enjoyed gardening and was a Cubs and Dutch Masters fan.

Rickey Ward
carpenter

Visitation for Rickey L. Ward, 39, of Bradley, will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel, Kankakee, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Pastor Edward Heck will officiate.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made for his children's education.
He died Monday (Dec. 30, 2002) in a single-car accident three miles west of Cabery.
Mr. Ward was a carpenter for Peak Construction.
He was born Feb. 4, 1963 in Kankakee.
Surviving are one son, Logan Ward of Bourbonnais; one daughter, Darian Ward of Bourbonnais; his father, Robert and Sandy Ward of Bradley; his mother, Darlene Anderson and her companion, Vince Furlano of Cullom; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Trena and Jamie Rassmusen of Ashkum, Bonnie Ward and Pam Anderson, both of Kankakee; one brother, Mike Anderson of Meridian, Miss.; his fiancee, Tammi Gross and her children, Ryan, Brandon and Lauren, all of Bradley; grandmother, Grace Ward of Bradley; several aunts, uncles and cousins and 11 nieces and nephews.
His grandfather, Clarence Ward; and grandparents, Lloyd and Lucille Ashline, are deceased.
Mr. Ward was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Kankakee.
He was also a member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
He enjoyed mountain biking, running, karate and music, especially Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin.

Louis Beckner

Louis A. Beckner Sr., 72, of Bourbonnais, died Saturday (Dec. 28, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Tuesday until the 3 p.m. services at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Rev. Richard Pighini will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the local Parkinson's Disease Chapter.
Mr. Beckner had been a production supervisor at Armstrong World Industries, retiring after 31 years of service.
He was born Dec. 21, 1930, in Bradley, the son of Robert and Velma Suprenant Beckner. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Josephine Zasada, whom he married Nov. 11, 1955, in East St. Louis, of Bourbonnais; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Lou Beckner and Dave and Cheryl Beckner, all of Bourbonnais; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Wayne Ruel of Kankakee; half-brother, Ronnie Beckner of Springfield; four grandchildren, Mike, Matt, Ashley and Bryan Beckner, all of Bourbonnais; and several nieces and nephews.
One brother, Robert Beckner, is deceased.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Beckner was a member of the Moose Lodge.
He enjoyed fishing, golf and attending his grandchildren's school events.

James Elliott

James A. Elliott, 72, of Kankakee, formerly of Freeport, died Saturday (Dec. 28, 2002) at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4 at the First Lutheran Church in Freeport, where he was a member. Pastor Arthur Stees will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church in Freeport; Hospice of Kankakee Valley or to the Alzheimer's Association of Kankakee.
Arrangements are by the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.
He was born Oct. 11, 1930, in Freeport, the son of James and Viola Timms Elliott. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Doris Atherton, whom he married June 13, 1953, at the First Lutheran Church in Freeport; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Boyd Totten, Leigh and Don Wegrich, all of Kankakee; one son and daughter-in-law, Lindsay and Kelly Elliott of Austin, Texas; one granddaughter, Shaye of Austin, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Gina Elliott of Surprise, Ariz.; and one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Ribs Donahue.
One son, Brion Atherton Elliott, is deceased.
He was educated in the Freeport Public Schools graduating from Freeport High School in the class of 1949. He graduated from Brown's Business College and attended Chicago Technical College.
He served three and a half years on the USS Ellyson (DMS-19), Destroyer Mine Sweeper during the Korean War.
Mr. Elliott began working for Freeport Insurance Co. in 1957, leaving there in 1961 to work at Freeport Savings and Loan. In 1971 he started working at Union Savings and Loan and worked there until retiring in 1995.
He was an accomplished musician and his beautiful baritone voice was heard all around Freeport. He played Bag Pipes and was a member of ZOR Pipe and Drums of Madison for 15 years.
Mr. Elliott was a member of the Evergreen Lodge 170 (Masonic) Lodge Council Chapter Consistory and received his 33rd degree from Supreme Council in Pittsburgh in 1977. He was a 50-year member of the American Legion, member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and AmVets.
He enjoyed being with family and friends, camping and reading Scottish and U.S. History.

Verna Feddersen

GRANT PARK -- Verna C. Feddersen, 81, of Grant Park, died Saturday (Dec. 28, 2002) at Momence Meadows.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Hack Funeral Home in Beecher.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Grant Park, where she was a member. Rev. Lon Landsmann will officiate.
Burial will be in Zion Lutheran cemetery in Grant Park.
She was born March 15, 1921 in Beecher, the daughter of Henry and Clara Matthias Seitz.
Her husband, Gilbert Feddersen, is deceased.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Butch and Suzie Feddersen of Grant Park; five daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Greg Gelino of Momence, Patsy and Bill Loitz, Phyllis and Steve Fick, Donna and Glen Hoevet, all of Grant Park, Bonnie and Mike Blomarz of Frankfort; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Lester and Jean Seitz and Harold Seitz, all of Beecher; nine grandchildren, Julie Feddersen, Jennifer Thiesen, Mathew and Adam Fick, Nathan and Lindsay Hoevet and Alex, Danielle and Katie Blomarz; four stepgrandchildren, Jerry, Mike, John and Nancy Loitz; and four great-grandchildren, Kristina Feddersen, Peyton and Lane Thiesen and Travis Fick.
One brother, Elmer Seitz, is deceased.

Joseph Gustin

SUN CITY, Ariz. -- Joseph Frank Gustin, 90, of Sun City, Ariz., formerly of Bradley, died Monday (Dec. 23, 2002).
A memorial service was held Dec. 28 at St. Clements Catholic Church, Sun City, where he was a member.
Burial was in Sunland cemetery, Sun City.
Memorials may be made to the Health Care Odyssey Hospice, 8977 W. Athens St., Peoria, Ariz. 85382.
He was born Feb. 25, 1912 in Chisholm, Minn.
Mr. Gustin was retired from Bradley Roper Corporation where he was a master mechanic tool and die man. Upon his retirement he moved to Sun City, Ariz. with his wife of 70 years, Lorene. She is deceased.
Surviving are two daughters, Jacqueline Adame of Bradley, Joann Swinford of Sun City West, Ariz.; two sisters, Mary Swanson and Ann Swanson; four grandchildren, Kathy Dorris of Bourbonnais, Kevin Adame of North Carolina, Michael Swinford of Chicago and Michelle Swinford of Tuscola; one great-grandchild; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Matt and Tony Gustin, are deceased.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling and dancing.

Phyllis Hansen

Visitation for Phyllis P. Hansen, 83, of Kankakee, will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Burial will be in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery.
She died Friday (Dec. 27, 2002) at the Miller Center in Kankakee.
Mrs. Hansen had been a bookkeeper at Alden's for 10 years.
She was born March 22, 1919, in Grant Park, the daughter of Robert and Ruby Stowell Pemble. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are her husband, Leroy Hansen, whom she married Feb. 23, 1941, in Momence, of Kankakee; two sons and daughters-in-law, Marc and Peggy Hansen of Washington Grove, Md., Stephen and Julie Hansen of Edwardsville; one sister, Beverly Book of Benton Harbor, Mich.; and four grandchildren, Christine Hansen, Stephen Hansen, Bryan Hansen and Andrew Hansen.
Mrs. Hansen was a member of Central Christian Church in Bourbonnais.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
