Gregory Gund

Gregory L. Gund, 44, of Bradley, died Monday (Dec. 23, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee, after an extended illness.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery, Kankakee.
Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
Mr. Gund was employed by Preston Roofing and a member of the Roofers Union. He was an accomplished carpenter.
He was born Dec. 4, 1958, in Kankakee, the son of Donald and Madonna Schafer Gund. His mother is deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Kelly Powers, whom he married Aug. 9, 1991, in Kankakee; one son, Ryan Gund of Bradley; two daughters, Kasey McInis of Bradley, Madonna Harrison of Goreville; his father of Bradley; one sister, Debra Christensen of Denver, Iowa; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Ronald and Ruby Gund of Bradley, Mark Gund of Houston, Texas; his mother-in-law, Pat Powers of Bradley; and several nieces and nephews.
One brother, Steven Gund, is deceased.
Mr. Gund was a former member of the Bradley Moose.
He loved fishing and enjoyed boating, bowling and the outdoors.

Alma S. Hasselbring

CISSNA PARK -- Visitation for Alma S. Hasselbring, 96, of Cissna Park, will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park, and from 10 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. services at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cissna Park, where she was a member. Rev. Carl Janssen will officiate.
Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran cemetery, Cissna Park.
Memorials may be made to Prairieview Lutheran Home, Danforth; Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cissna Park; or to the donor's choice.
She died Sunday (Dec. 22, 2002) at Prairieview Lutheran Home, Danforth.
She was born May 29, 1906, in Ash Grove Township, the daughter of Adolph and Sophie Breymeyer Munsterman.
Her husband, Paul W. Hasselbring, whom she married Jan. 3, 1939, in Davenport, Iowa, died Sept. 3, 1958.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Kermit and Paula Hasselbring of Milford, Calvin and Janet Hasselbring of Skokie; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hasselbring was a member of the Ladies Aid and was the church organist for over 27 years.
She liked sewing and baking.

Harold Karlstrom

Harold Karlstrom, 87, of Kankakee, died Monday (Dec. 23, 2002) at Manor Care Nursing Center.
Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Thursday at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, and from 10 a.m. Friday until the 11 a.m. services at Asbury United Methodist Church, Kankakee. Rev. Don Long will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church.
Mr. Karlstrom was retired vice president of purchasing at Bradley Roper Corp. He was former president of the Bradley Keyman's Club.
He was born June 6, 1915, in Spokane, Wash., the son of Rev. Leonard and Mabel Gustafson Karlstrom.
Surviving are his wife, the former Alice Hull, whom he married Feb. 19, 1939, in Kempton, of Kankakee; two daughters and one son-in-law, Judy and Jim McCormick of Hoffman Estates, Linda Argento of Arlington Heights; three sisters, Margaret Sebastian of Apache Junction, Ariz., Marie Leslie of Indian Head Park, Marion Palmer of Oldsmar, Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Paul Karlstrom of Champaign; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mr. Karlstrom was a 62-year member of Asbury United Methodist Church where he served as chairman of the memorial committee for many years and as trustee on the church board.
He was a member of the Kankakee Elks Club, where he was a former board member and served on the scholarship committee for 20 years. He was Elks state chairman for 15 years.

Jon Loiselle

Visitation for Jon Paul "JP" Loiselle, 61, of Bradley, will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, and from 9 a.m. Friday until the celebration of the 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Kankakee, where he was a member. Rev. Gregor Gorsic will officiate.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery, Kankakee.
Memorials may be made to the family wishes.
He died Sunday (Dec. 22, 2002) at his home.
Mr. Loiselle worked in the auto body repair business for many years.
He was born Sept. 29, 1941, in Kankakee, the son of Earle Joseph and Leona Elizabeth Hopkins Loiselle. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Lou Goudreau, whom he married Feb. 7, 1998, in Bourbonnais, of Bradley; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Paul Loiselle and Jon and Meva Loiselle, all of Kankakee; one daughter, Sarah Loiselle of Bourbonnais; three stepsons, Dan and Teresa Reid of Bradley, David Reid of Thornton, Colo., Don and Sherri Reid of Bradley; one stepdaughter, Diana and Brent LeBran of Bourbonnais; one sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Don Jackson of Limestone; one brother, George Loiselle of Lady Lake, Fla.; one foster brother, Bill and Robin Dixon of Island Lake; one grandson, Christopher Loiselle of Kankakee; stepgrandchildren, Nicholas and Nathan Reid of Bradley, Michael Reid of Thornton, Colo., Madison Keaton and Jada LeBran of Bourbonnais; and special friend-ole buddy, Howard "Scotty" Stewart of Bradley; and his former wife, Carol Loiselle of Kankakee.
One sister, Marilyn Spencer, is deceased.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He loved hot rods and motorcycles and enjoyed woodworking.
He had many special friends and will be missed by all who knew him.

Linda Carolyn Martin

BRAIDWOOD -- Visitation for Linda Carolyn Martin, 59, of Braidwood, will be from 4 p.m. Friday until the 6 p.m. memorial services at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel. Rev. Larry Schreffler will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Private burial will be held at a later date in the Braceville-Gardner cemetery, Braceville.
Memorials may be made to the Joliet Area Community Hospice.
Mrs. Martin died Sunday (Dec. 22, 2002) at her home.
She was born June 24, 1943, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Thomas and Maud Beal Jennings.
Her husband, George Martin, is deceased.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, G. Michael and Cheryl Martin of DeKalb; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and David Trout of Fort Knox, Ky.; five grandchildren; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Larry and Carol Jennings of Benton, James Chandler of Braidwood; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Judy and Steve VonBurg of Sand Oval, Connie Chandler of Joliet; nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Ray Okulski of Braidwood.
One son, Jeffery Brian Martin, is deceased.

Rev. Jesse Martin

Visitation for Rev. Jesse Martin Sr., 77, of Kankakee, will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Gethsemane Gardens Missionary Baptist Church, Kankakee, and from 11 a.m. Saturday until the noon services at the Williamson Chapel CME Church in Old Hickory, Tenn. Rev. Woodrow Harris will officiate.
Burial will be in the Green Lawn cemetery, Old Hickory.
Arrangements are by the Leggett Funeral Home, Hopkins Park.
He died Sunday (Dec. 22, 2002) at the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno.
Rev. Martin was a retired store clerk from Shapiro Developmental Center. He was former pastor of St. Anne Woods Chapel and associate pastor at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and Gethsemane Gardens Missionary Baptist Church.
He was born April 6, 1925, in Wilson County, Tenn., the son of Andrew and Mary Martin.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Jesse Jr. and Delores Martin of Kankakee; three daughters, Diane Gilbert of Kankakee, Sharon Lewis-Karamoko of Lexington, Tenn., Darlene Stampley of Kankakee; 11grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
One son; two grandsons; four sisters; and four brothers, are deceased.
He was a resident of the area for 50 years.
Rev. Martin was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II.
He attended Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in St. Anne.

Vella McCoy

HOPKINS PARK -- Visitation for Vella McCoy, 67, of Hopkins Park, will be from 11 a.m. Thursday until the noon services at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, St. Anne, where she was a member. Rev. Johnny Robinson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Momence cemetery, Ganeer Township.
Arrangements are by Leggett Funeral Home, Hopkins Park.
She died Tuesday (Dec. 17, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
Mrs. McCoy was a senior caretaker for Catholic Charities.
She was born Jan. 6, 1935, in Ford City, Ark., the daughter of Eleanor Ellis and Buddy Brick. Her parents are deceased.
Her first husband, James Ilion Sr., is deceased.
Surviving are her husband, Albert McCoy, whom she married Dec. 31, 1977, in St. Anne, of Hopkins Park; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Ricky Ilion of Kankakee, James and Leza Ilion and Rodney Ilion, all of Milwaukee, Wis.; 29 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Two daughters, Genell and Elinor Ilion, are deceased.
She was a resident of the area for 50 years and a member of the Mother's Board and the Usher's Board at her church.

Lester Miller

PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. -- Lester G. Miller, 91, of Port Washington, Wis., formerly of Donovan, died Sunday (Dec. 22, 2002) at his home at the Harbor Club Care Facility.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Saturday until the 2 p.m. services at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Rev. Kevin Nourie will officiate.
Burial will be in Prairie Dell cemetery in Iroquois.
After attending the University of Illinois for two years, he began running the local co-op grain elevator. In 1952, he bought and operated the Golden Rule Grain Elevator.
He was born Jan. 15, 1911, in Donovan, the son of George and Carrie Faupel Miller.
His wife, the former Erma Waterstradt, whom he married Sept. 18, 1937, in Donovan, is deceased.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Gailya Ann and Arthur Geib of Port Washington, Wis.; one son and daughter-in-law, Karl and Michal Miller of Sea View, Wash.; and three grandchildren, Leslie and Mark Krueger of St. Louis, Mo., and Lise and Erike Miller, both of California.
Two sisters, Clara Lesch and Mary Watkinis; one brother, Henry Miller; and one grandson, Richard, are deceased.
Mr. Miller was a longtime member of the Donovan Church of Christ, active in the Boy Scouts of America and was instrumental in organizing the Donovan Volunteer Fire Department and the Donovan High School Alumni Association.
