Mary Mecila

A memorial Mass for Mary Mecila, 79, of Kankakee, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where she was a member.
Memorials may be made to the Sons of Italy.
Arrangements are by the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.
She died Wednesday (Dec. 4, 2002) at Manor Care Nursing Center.
Miss Mecila was a retired employee of General Foods Corporation.
She was born Oct. 27, 1923, in Kankakee, the daughter of John and Nellie Pendino Mecila.
Surviving are one brother, Joseph Mecila of Brazil, Ind.; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
One brother, James V. Savarino; and two sisters, Angie Nourie and Grace Busciglio, are deceased.
She was a member of Madonna of the Rock and the Sons of Italy.
She enjoyed watching the Bears and the Bulls.

Almer Phillips

SUN RIVER TERRACE -- Almer "Alma" Phillips, 95, of Sun River Terrace, died Sunday (Dec. 1, 2002).
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday until the 10:30 a.m. services at Taylor Funeral Home, 63 E. 79th St., Chicago.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery, Worth.
Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Guy and Willie Mae Alford; and many nieces and nephews.

Virgil Reutter
aerospace industry electrician

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Virgil E. "Ernie" Reutter, 87, a former area resident, died Tuesday (Nov. 26, 2002) at his home in Tucson, Ariz.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Union Church in Cissna Park. Rev. John Lange will officiate.
Private burial will be at the Maple Grove cemetery in Milford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mr. Reutter farmed near Cissna Park, Woodworth and Fowler, Ind. until 1949 when he moved to Melvin serving as Asst. Secretary/Treasurer of the Production Credit Association for Ford County. Relocating to Lancaster, Calif. in 1953, he became an electrician in the aerospace industry supporting the flight tests of F-86, F-100, F-101, F-104 and F-105 aircraft at Edwards AFB. He later transitioned to the Atlas and Titan I/II missile programs and traveled the 48 states while installing underground ballistic missile silos. In 1970 he joined Dow Chemical Engineering and Construction Services in Freeport, Texas as a construction superintendent at chemical plants along the Gulf Coast. Retiring in 1981 he moved to Tucson, Ariz.
He was born Feb. 15, 1915, in Fountain Creek Township, the son of John Sr. and Anna Verkler Reutter.
His first wife, the former Bernice Breymeyer, whom he married in 1936, died in 1984.
Surviving are his wife, the former Verla (Munsterman) Schuldt, whom he married in 1986, of Tucson; one sister, Kay Knapp of Leroy; one brother, Dick Reutter of Cissna Park; one sister-in-law, Martha (Jacobs) of Cissna Park; two stepdaughters, Debra Weerts of Herscher and Connie Lauwe of Indianapolis, Ind.; three brothers-in-law, Lester Breymeyer and Wilmond Breymeyer, both of Watseka, Homer Breymeyer of Woodworth; one son, Jerry Reutter of Tucson; and three grandchildren, Kirk of San Diego, Calif., Juliana of Newport Beach, Calif. and Becca of Collins, Colo.
Four brothers, John Jr., Paul, Orville and Earl; one sister, Edith Calkin; and two brothers-in-law, Clarence and Gilbert Breymeyer, are deceased.
He was a 1933 graduate of Cissna Park High School.
He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church in Tucson and during his life was active in the Fraternal Order of Eagles, BPOE, Lions Club and the Masonic bodies. Raised a Master Mason in 1951 in Melvin, he attained the higher degrees in both and Scottish Rite Masonry and became a member of the Al Malaikah Shrine in 1956. He was a past Captain of the Temple Guard, Al Sabbar Shrine, Tucson. (Pd.)

Walter Robertson

GRANT PARK -- Walter A. Robertson, 79, a resident of Grant Park since 1962, died Wednesday (Dec. 4, 2002) at the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno.
Private inurnment will be in the Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home, Manteno, Alzheimer's Unit, 1 Veterans Drive, Manteno, IL 60950.
Mr. Robertson was a manufacturer representative for 15 years and the owner of Allen Products for 30 years with his wife.
He was born April 16, 1923 in Chicago.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, M. Louise Robertson; and one daughter and son-in-law, Lynn Alin Robertson and Thomas Wheelock of Iowa.
Mr. Robertson was in the European Theatre and the Normandy Landing with the Amphibious Engineers and the 30th Chemical Company.
He loved activity and people. He worked on new ideas constantly and had his own personal machine shop. He designed houses, furniture and wall hangings. (Pd.)

Mary Roggenburg

CAMPUS -- Mary M. Roggenburg, 99, of Campus, died Friday (Dec. 6, 2002) at Heritage Manor in Dwight.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday until the 11 a.m. services at the Cabery United Methodist Church. Rev. Herb Thompson will officiate.
Burial will be in the Pilot cemetery, Herscher.
Arrangements are by the Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Cullom.
She was born May 11, 1903, in Cabery, the daughter of Steward and Jennie Barber Stickle.
Her husband, Albert Roggenburg, whom she married Sept. 29, 1920, in Onarga, died March 16, 1983.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. and Shirley Roggenburg of Cabery; one daughter and son-in-law, Marceline M. and Ed Herb of Campus; three grandchildren, Robert Roggenburg, Richard Roggenburg and Melinda Gunther; five great-grandchildren; and one niece.
One sister, Sarabell Miller, is deceased.
She was a 1919 graduate of Cabery High School.
Mrs. Roggenburg was a lifetime member of Cabery United Methodist Church and formerly the Cabery Presbyterian Church. She was past president of the Ladies Aid; a member of the Cabery Community Club; leader of Cabery Girls 4-H Club; lifetime member of the Royal Neighbors; and a member of the Kankakee County Home Bureau.

Paul Stamm
farmer

PAXTON -- Paul L. Stamm, 88, of Paxton, and the sister of area residents, died Friday (Dec. 6, 2002) at Heartland Health Care in Paxton.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Knapp-Miller Funeral Home, Paxton.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Lutheran Church in Paxton, where he was a member. Revs. Sally Meyer and Barbara Busboom will officiate.
Burial will be in the Germanville cemetery, Chatsworth.
Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church; Heartland Health Care; or to the donor's choice.
Mr. Stamm was a retired farmer, Maytag dealer and repairman.
He was born Sept. 19, 1914, in Lutesville, Mo., the son of Albert and Lillie Funke Stamm.
Surviving are his wife, the former Doris Hummel, whom he married Sept. 19, 1978, in Paxton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Joanne Stamm of Chestnut, Jerry and Rose Stamm of Roberts; two daughters and one son-in-law, Joan and Marion Erwin of Diamond, JoAnn Hamilton of Lakeland, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Linda and Ray Kellerhals of Paxton; one stepson, Ronald Schmidt of Des Moines, Iowa; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Douglas and Eunice Stamm of Roberts, Roy Stamm of Thawville, Marion and Marla Jean Stamm of Pekin; two sisters, Pauline Kurtenbauch of Pontiac, Eulene Wagner of Loda; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren.
Five brothers and five sisters are deceased.
He enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening.

Robert Windmiller

GOLDEN VALLEY, Ariz. -- Robert "Bob" Windmiller, 86, of Golden Valley, Ariz., formerly of Kankakee, died Wednesday (Dec. 4, 2002) at his home.
Cremation rites were accorded.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Windmiller was employed by Triangle Construction and A.O. Smith in Kankakee.
He was born Oct. 5, 1916, in Pleasant Hill, Ill., the son of Rose and Ralph Windmiller.
His wife, the former Almeda Luy, whom he married Nov. 13, 1947, died in April 1998.
Surviving are two daughters, Beverly Billingsley and Ward Sommers of Fallon, Nev., Roberta "Bobbi" and Lew Bloomfield of Golden Valley, Ariz.; three sons, Glynn "Hap" and Karen Billingsley of Chebanse, Duane "Dewey" and Sue Windmiller of Bourbonnais, Keith and Jennifer Windmiller of Ft. Collins, Colo.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Benson and Lois Windmiller of DeLeon Springs, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
One brother and sister-in-law, Worth and Dorothy Windmiller; and one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Virginia and George Nanos, are deceased.
He enjoyed traveling.

Almeatris Winfield,
18-year Amberg employee

Visitation for Almeatris "Kay" Winfield, 64, of Kankakee, will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Lax Mortuary.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Caldwell Chapel AME Zion Church. Rev. Nathan N. Richmond Sr. will officiate.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory cemetery.
She died Wednesday (Dec. 4, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, after a long illness.
Mrs. Winfield was employed for 18 years at the Amberg File Company until its closing and then for 13 years at the Wisco Envelope Company, where she was recognized as an exemplary employee.
She was born Oct. 1, 1938, in Macon, Miss., the daughter of James and Daisy Triplett. Her father is deceased.
Surviving are her husband, Leonard Winfield Sr., whom she married May 19, 1964, in Kankakee; two sons, Gerald Triplett and Leonard Winfield Jr., both of Kankakee; two daughters and one son-in-law, Greta Jones and Charloit and Richard McKenzie, all of Kankakee; her mother of Macon, Miss.; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Devon Triplett of Sun River Terrace, D.T. Triplett of Macon, Miss., Audrey and Rose Triplett of Chicago; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Melody Winfield of Kankakee; six grandchildren and one great-grandson; special cousin, Marie Williams; special friends, Rebecca Hill and Tabitha Dunigan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
One sister, Clariece Orr; and one brother, James Triplett Jr., are deceased.
She was a graduate of Macon High School. She moved to Kankakee in 1957.
She became a member of Caldwell Chapel in the early 1980's. She was a member and chaplain of The Parent Body Missionary Society, the Lay Council and the Gospel Choir. She also served on the Sympathy Committee.
She was an excellent cook, cooking for the annual free Thanksgiving dinner and the soul dinner at her church.
