Erma Baker

Erma L. Baker, 91, of Kankakee, died Monday (Aug. 11, 2003) at her home. A memorial service will be held later this fall. Arrangements are pending at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes.

Betty Croyts

STREATOR -- Betty L. Croyts, 70, of Maud, Texas, formerly of Streator and the sister of a Dwight resident, died Monday (Aug. 11, 2003) at her home. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Solon, Baker and Telford Funeral Home in Streator. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Church, Streator. Monsignor John J. Prendergast will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery, Streator. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen M. and Terry Barton of Maud, Texas, Donna and Clifton Hayes of Seward, Alaska; one sister, Georgia Bohannon of Dwight; one brother, William Wultzen of Streator; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Donna Giaudrone

COAL CITY -- Donna Jean Giaudrone, 64, of Coal City, died Sunday (Aug. 10, 2003) at Morris Hospital. At her request, cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the 10:30 a.m. services at Ferrari Funeral Services in Coal City. Rev. James Brazel will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood. Memorials may be made to the Wish Upon A Star Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice. She was born July 23, 1939, in Joliet, the daughter of Roy and Thelma Zeller. Her parents are deceased. Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Pete J. Giaudrone Jr.; one daughter, Mary Beth Giaudrone of Coal City; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Jolene Giaudrone of Coal City; three grandchildren; one sister, Sandra Zeller of Crest Hill; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Marilyn Zeller of Chandler, Ariz.; one brother-in-law, Doug (Nora) Giaudrone of Crest Hill; one sister-in-law, Geri (Earl) Mack of Coal City; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jennette Dittus Jensen
registered nurse for 51 years

CABERY -- Visitation for Jennette Dittus Jensen, 91, of Cabery, will be from 10 a.m. Friday until the noon services at Trinity Lutheran Church in Herscher, where she was a member. Mark Wenzel will officiate. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran cemetery in Herscher. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Herscher. The Herscher Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. She died Sunday (Aug. 10, 2003) at the Merkle Knipprath Nursing Home in Clifton. Mrs. Jensen was a registered nurse for 52 years, retiring in 1986. She most recently had worked as a nurse at Shapiro Developmental Center for 20 years. She was born April 7, 1912, in Union Hill, the daughter of Harvey and Bertha Thiel Dittus. Her husband, Thomas Christian Jensen, whom she married Aug. 15, 1937 at the First Baptist Church in Kankakee, died Sept. 16, 1959. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Michael Sage of Irwin; four sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Nancy Jensen of Kempton, Thomas and Lorraine Jensen of Elgin, James and Janice Jensen of San Marcos, Texas, Charles and Karen Jensen of Crawfordsville, Ind.; one sister, Dorothy Whaley of Wheatley, Ontario, Canada; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Otto and William Dittus, are deceased. She was raised and educated in Ontario, Canada, returning to Illinois to attend nurses' training. She was a 1935 graduate of St. Mary's School of Nursing and received a bachelor's degree in health administration in 1976 from St. Francis College. Mrs. Jensen was a member of the Lydia Circle (Church women's group) and a Sunday School teacher for 20 years. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and reading.

Viola Ohm
centenarian dies

GRANT PARK -- Viola Louise Ohm, 100, of Grant Park, died Monday (Aug. 11, 2003) at Momence Meadows Nursing Center. Visitation will be from 3:30-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cotter Funeral Home in Momence. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Grant Park, where she was a member. Rev. Frank L. Hoss will officiate. Burial will be in the Union Corners cemetery in Grant Park. Memorials may be made to the United Church of Christ. She was born Sept. 24, 1902, in Welcome, Minn., the daughter of William and Caroline Langhorst Martens. Her husband, Albert Ohm, whom she married April 14, 1926, in Pekin, died Aug. 12, 1971. Surviving are one daughter, Pauline Ohm-Mitchell of Momence; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Jean Ohm of Momence; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. One brother; one sister; one son, Henry Ohm; one daughter, Lois Williams; one son-in-law, Butch Mitchell; one daughter-in-law, Mary Ohm; and one granddaughter, Kathy Monts, are deceased.

V. Louise Patrick

ST. ANNE -- Visitation for V. Louise Patrick, 79, of St. Anne, will be from 4 p.m. Wednesday until the 7 p.m. services at the Cotter Funeral Home in Momence. David Ellison will officiate. Burial will be in the Momence cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family wishes. She died Sunday (Aug. 10, 2003) at Momence Meadows Nursing Center. She was born Dec. 24, 1923, in Mercer, Tenn., the daughter of Arthur S. and Bertha P. Warren Staggs. Her husband, Nathaniel Mark Patrick, whom she married March 22, 1941, in Charleston, Mo., died Aug. 25, 1998. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Lawanda and James Hedges of St. Anne, Linda and Earl Duke of Momence, Alma and Mike Dye of Mexico, Mo.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Arthur and Cindy Patrick of Kokomo, Ind., Mark and Shirley Patrick of St. Genevieve, Mo., Mack Patrick of Sikeston, Mo.; one sister, Dorothy Patrick of East Prairie, Mo.; 25 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. One daughter, Lucy Ludvick; two brothers and four sisters, are deceased. Mrs. Patrick was a member of Jehovah's Kingdom Hall in Momence.

James Ravn

James Rodney Ravn, 50, of Kankakee, died Saturday (Aug. 9, 2003) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital. Services will be private. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army in Kankakee. Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel in Kankakee is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Ravn worked at Shapiro Developmental Center for many years. He was born Nov. 23, 1952, in Kankakee, the son of Clarence and Edna Mae Hall Ravn. His mother is deceased. Surviving are one son, Justin Ravn of Bradley; one daughter, Kristen Ravn of Bradley; his father of Mountain Home, Ark.; and one sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Fred Call of Avon Lake, Ohio. One sister, Carol; and grandparents, John and Irene Ravn and Edna and Fred Hall, are deceased.

Jesse Rolph, sheet metal worker Jesse A. Rolph, 62, of Kankakee, died Monday (Aug. 11, 2003) at Manor Care Nursing Home. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. Thursday until the 7 p.m. services at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery in Fairbury. Memorials may be made to the family. Mr. Rolph worked in sheet metal maintenance for Haines Corporation. He was born Feb. 11, 1941, in Kankakee, the son of Jesse "Art" and Ferne Collette Rolph. His parents are deceased. Surviving are his wife, the former Alice Barnes, whom he married Feb. 14, 1976, in Fairbury, of Kankakee; one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas David and Karri Barrera of Grant Park; two daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa Lynn and Richard Jensen of Grant Park, Jill Marie and Jeff Gorball of Elkhart, Ind.; his stepmother, Greta Rolph of Limestone; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Bill Doede of Yorkville, Betty and Al Schumacher of St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Linda Boyd of Mesa, Ariz., Betty Rolph of Bradley; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, George and Theresa Grosso of Limestone, Dale Whittle of Bradenton, Fla., Jimmy and Sue Boyd of Iowa, Robert Boyd of Herscher; and five grandchildren. Two brothers, Robert Rolph and William Boyd; and one sister, Nancy Harms, are deceased. He was a 1958 graduate of Herscher High School. Mr. Rolph attended St. Peter United Church of Christ in Grant Park. He enjoyed bingo and golfing at Oak Springs Golf Course.

Jean Stone

A funeral Mass for Jean M. Stone, 83, of Kankakee, was celebrated Aug. 9 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kankakee. Rev. Richard Pighini officiated. Mrs. Stone died Aug. 6, 2003. Burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers were Gene Stanek, Dan Carpenter, Guy Cuningham, Mike Gift, Eric Rahn and Dennis Richard.

Nancy Riordan

A funeral Mass for Nancy Ruth Riordan, 94, of Kankakee, was celebrated Aug. 7 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Rev. Bill Dewaan officiated. Mrs. Riordan died Aug. 4, 2003. Burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers were Tom Riordan Jr., Tom G., Jerry and Jody Riordan.

James Beck

A funeral Mass for James J. Beck, 88, of Kankakee, was celebrated Aug. 8 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kankakee. Rev. Richard Pighini officiated. Mr. Beck died Aug. 4, 2003. Burial was in Assumption cemetery in Ashkum. Pallbearers were Joe Kafka, Brian and Kevin Beck, Terry Linskey, Gene Donley and Harry Daley.

Jorge Davide

A funeral Mass for Jorge G. Davide, 75, of Bourbonnais, was celebrated Aug. 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Revs. William Dewaan and Roberto Buencon-Sejo and Deacon Andy Berg officiated. Mr. Davide died Aug. 7, 2003. Cremation rites were accorded. Pallbearers were Fernando Ereneta, Virgilio Coles, Kenneth Pinna, Allan Santos, Reynaldo Ong and Joe Logan.

Luther Sneed

Services for Luther Harold Sneed, 87, of Bourbonnais, were held Aug. 6 at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Rev. George Miller officiated. Mr. Sneed died Aug. 2, 2003. Burial was in Shiloh cemetery in Whittington. Pallbearers were Steve Gray, Donnie and Dennis Sneed, Vernon and Jeff Sweetin, Keith Sneed, Bill Grayson and Julie Sweetin.

Raymond Schmohe

WOODWORTH -- Services for Raymond H. Schmohe, 86, of Woodworth, were held Aug. 11 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Woodworth. Rev. James Ritter officiated. Mr. Schmohe died Aug. 7, 2003. Burial was in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery, Woodworth. Pallbearers were Mark Wilkening, Royce Ballard, Dean Schippert, George Muench, Todd Schippert and Todd Muench. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Ecker and Armen Luening.

Constance Moilan

A funeral Mass for Constance "Connie" C. Moilan, 79, of Bourbonnais, was celebrated Aug. 11 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Rev. John Antczak officiated. Mrs. Moilan died Aug. 6, 2003. Burial was in All Saints cemetery in Bourbonnais. Pallbearers were Ruthann Pinnow, James Vreeland, Donald Anderson, Kris Hart, Douglas Wilkins and Medrick Joubert.

Peter Michelich

Services for Peter A. Michelich, 62, of Kankakee, were held Aug. 11 at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel. Rev. Dan Morris officiated. Mr. Michelich died Aug. 7, 2003. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery in Chebanse. Pallbearers were Bill Ohrt, George Grosso, John Panozzo, Keith Brammer, Frank Monferdini and Joe Grosso.

Ora Wagner
farmer, musician

BONFIELD -- Visitation for Ora Emma Wagner, 94, of Bonfield, will be from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the 11 a.m. services at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel in Kankakee. Rev. Steven Friese will officiate. Burial will be in Grand Prairie cemetery in Bonfield. Memorials may be made to the Bonfield Evangelical United Methodist Church or to the Salina Township Fire Department. She died Sunday (Aug. 10, 2003) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. Mrs. Wagner helped her husband farm in Bonfield. She was a member of the Bonfield Evangelical United Methodist Church for 65 years, the United Methodist Women, the Bonfield Twig of Riverside, the Bonfield Senior Citizens Club, Women's Christian Temperance Union and the Sunshine Circle. She was a Sunday School teacher, youth leader, church organist and pianist for Sunday School. She had taught piano. She was born Sept. 23, 1908, in Bonfield, the daughter of Henry and Clara Riegel Wingert. Her husband, Gerald M. Wagner, whom she married March 21, 1953, in Salina Township, died April 8, 1967. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Jacqulyn Wagner of Bonfield; one brother, Wayne Wagner of Tucson, Ariz.; and two granddaughters, Nancy Wagner of Bothell, Wash. and Linda Wagner of Estes Park, Colo. One sister, Myrtle Buente; and two brothers, Clarence and Harland Wingert, are deceased.
