DANFORTH -- LaVerne Eldeene Eheart, 83, of Danforth, died Friday (July 18, 2003) at her home, after a sudden illness. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. today at the Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday. Pastor Ray Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Glen cemetery, Paxton. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice. Mrs. Eheart and her husband had farmed west of Gilman. She had waitressed at The Crossroads and K&H; Truck Plaza, both in Gilman and had also did housekeeping at Farr's Motel (now called Budget Host) in Gilman. She was born Feb. 2, 1920, in Roberts, the daughter of Raymond and Mabel Neisewander Currie. Her parents are deceased. Her husband, Franklin M. "Jack" Eheart, whom she married Feb. 14, 1941, in Piper City, died March 10, 1988. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Debra Eheart of Gilman; one daughter and son-in-law, Janice and David Schoon of Danforth; five grandchildren, Milisa and Chris Benjamin, Michelle Schoon and Todd Hull, Angel and Steve Kemarly, Franklin Eheart, Andrew and Jennifer Eheart; and seven great-grandchildren, Madison Riley Hull, Jacob Eheart, Alley Eheart, Anna Eheart, Megan Kemarly, Damon Eheart and Hanna Eheart. One daughter, Julene Mabel; two brothers, Everett and Donnie Currie; one sister, Mabel Julene Currie; are deceased. She spent her childhood in Roberts and attended area country schools. She enjoyed gardening, baking, embroidery and playing with Maddy.

Lucy Ooley

MONEE -- Lucy Ooley, 83, of Monee, died Thursday (July 17, 2003) at her home. Private services will be held. Burial will be in Skyline Memorial Park in Monee. Fedde-Helfrich Chapel, Peotone, is in charge of arrangements. She was born Jan. 26, 1920, in Czersk, Poland, the daughter of Maximilian and Marta Neborowski Landowski. Her husband, Robert Ooley, whom she married March 22, 1947, in Wellheim, Germany, died in 1980. Surviving are one son, Robert Ooley Jr. of Monee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Ed Christensen of Monee, Rose and Mhammad Benyyssen of Manteno; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. One sister, Emmy; and one granddaughter, Deanna Gray, are deceased.

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Rick W. Sheets, 50, of Glendale, Ariz., formerly of Kankakee, died Wednesday (July 16, 2003) in Arizona. Cremation rites were accorded. Private services will be held in Arizona. Memorials may be made to the family. Mr. Sheets worked several years as an appliance repairman. He was born April 11, 1953, in Kankakee, the son of Willis T. and Marian M. Duffield Sheets. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Chris and Larry Lochner of Bonfield, Melissa and Chad Tanner of Lakenheath AFB, England; one son, Matthew Sheets of Bourbonnais; his mother and stepfather, Marian M. and Wayne A. Hartman of Manteno; one sister and brother-in-law, Vickie and Ray Edwards of Bourbonnais; one brother, Dick J. Sheets of Peoria, Ariz.; one half-sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Jim Meents of Kankakee; one half-brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Andi Sheets of Plano; two stepsisters and brothers-in-law, Connie and Bruce Rosenbrock of Grant Park, Sherry and Terry O'Neill of Ottawa; three stepbrothers and sisters-in-law, Bruce and Mary Hartman of Bourbonnais, Duwayne and Sheila Hartman, Kole and Susie Hartman, all of Manteno; former wife, Elizabeth Sheets of Bourbonnais; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. His father and stepmother, Willis T. and Shirley Sheets are deceased.

Daniel Sumrall Sr., 77, of Kankakee, died Saturday (July 5, 2003). Services were held July 11 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Centreville. Brother James Gause officiated. Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National cemetery, St. Louis, Mo. Pallbearers were Arlen Anderson Sr., Adrian Sumrall Jr, Darmacus Sumrall Sr., Robert Moore Jr., Alfred Anderson Jr., Aza Walker Sr., Rickey Sumrall Sr. and Kasmiel Sumrall. Mr. Sumrall was a self-employed mechanic, truck driver and waste management business owner. He was born March 14, 1926, in Laurel, Miss., the son of Ceasar Sr. and Della Donald Sumrall. His first wife, the former Nettie Mae Anderson, whom he married Feb. 26, 1949, died Aug. 8, 1992. Surviving are his wife, Hattie Sumrall of Kankakee; his children, Alfred (Karen) Anderson Sr., Alice Walker, Daniel (Linda) Sumrall Jr., all of East St. Louis, Rickey (Lisa) Sumrall Sr. of Alorton, Damon (Lisa) Sumrall of East St. Louis, Ronald (Sheila) Sumrall of Davenport, Iowa, Adrian Sumrall Sr., Horatio Sumrall Sr., Tobias Sumrall, all of East St. Louis, Jerry McCray of Quitman, Miss., Terry (Trina) Sumrall and Sherry Sumrall, all of Minneapolis, Minn.; stepchildren, Frankie Samuel Smith, Danny (Alma) Samuels, Felice Samuels-Petty, Charles Samuels, Kenneth (Lisa) Samuels and Talphenita Towne; three sisters, Flaura Russell of East St. Louis, Laura Cameron of Quitman, Miss., Baby Lou Ruffin of Milwaukee, Wis.; two brothers, James Benjamin (Lois) Sumrall of Boston, Mass., Ceasar (Ernestine) Sumrall Jr. of East St. Louis; 42 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 27 stepgrandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. One sister, Magdaline Knott; and one brother, William Len Sumrall, are deceased. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1949. Mr. Sumrall was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He loved fishing, hunting, traveling and playing sports.

A funeral Mass for Loretta "Lorry" M. Grzelak, 74, of Bourbonnais, was celebrated July 16 at Maternity BVM Catholic Church. Rev. John Linnan and Deacon Francis Chamness officiated. Mrs. Grzelak died July 11, 2003. Burial was in Maternity BVM cemetery. Pallbearers were John, Peter, Francis and Paul Grzelak and Ken Harper.

DONOVAN -- Services for Helen Loblaw Hewson, 86, of Donovan, were held July 17 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Sheldon. Rev. Terry Horn and her nephew, Marvin Jones officiated. Mrs. Hewson died July 14, 2003. Burial was in Iroquois Memorial Park in Watseka. Pallbearers were Scott Arseneau, Bob Corn, Dale Arseneau, Steve Hewson, John Scolley and Larry Meyr Honorary pallbearers were Roberta Scolley, Phyllis Glenn, Cheryl Grant, Jeanne VanGundy, Kathy Arseneau, Claudia Wiser, Alice Jones, Darlene Johnston, Arlene Brys, Julie Meyr and Erin Glenn.

Caitlyn Meyer

WATSEKA -- Services for Caitlyn Jade Meyer, 7 weeks, of Watseka, were held July 17 at the Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman. Rev. Joseph Hughes officiated. Caitlyn died July 13, 2003. Burial was in the Gilman cemetery.

ASHKUM -- A funeral Mass for Louie V. Hansen, 87, of rural Ashkum, was celebrated July 17 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Rev. John Antczak officiated. Mr. Hansen died July 13, 2003. Burial was in the Clifton cemetery. Pallbearers were John, Kris, Joel and Nathan Denault, Wesley Enz and Andrew Hansen. Nathan Barber Services for Nathan Edward Barber, 22, of Kankakee, were held July 18 at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Mr. Barber died July 14, 2003. Burial was in All Saints cemetery in Bourbonnais. Pallbearers were Reece and Jim O'Connor Jr., Derrick Dytkiewicz, Matt Witvoet, Tony Flowers and Norm Kleinert. A funeral Mass for Josephine Raspolich, 83, of Kankakee, was celebrated July 18 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. Rev. Dennis Settles officiated. Mrs. Raspolich died July 15, 2003. Burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers were William Jr., Joseph and Michael Powers, Jeff Mazick, John Azzarelli and James Raspolich.

Everett Burling

GILMAN -- Services for Everett W. Burling, 74, of Gilman, were held July 18 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Clifton. Rev. Richard Sova officiated. Mr. Burling died July 13, 2003. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery in Chebanse. Pallbearers were Jesse, Steven, Don and George Granzow, Joe Biedenharn and Bill Righter.

Martha Osenga

Services for Martha Marie "Muffy" Osenga, 76, of Kankakee, were held July 17 at the Hertz-Thoma Funeral Chapel. Rev. Tom Wilber officiated. Mrs. Osenga died July 13, 2003. Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens cemetery. Pallbearers were Josh, David and Steve Osenga, Nick and Tony Coulman and Ron Cramer.

Emma Carley

CRESCENT CITY -- Services for Emma Helene Carley, 88, of Crescent City, were held July 18 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Crescent City. Revs. Harold Grafe and Ray Barclay officiated. Mrs. Carley died July 15, 2003. Burial was in St. Peters Lutheran cemetery in Crescent City. Pallbearers were David, Doug, Mike and Matt Carley, Jason and Jonathan Jerome and Kyle and Kevin Arthur.

John Giddings

UNIVERSITY PARK -- Services for John H. Giddings, 61, of University Park, and a former area resident, were held July 17 at the First Baptist Church in University Park. Bishop R. L. Redding officiated. Mr. Giddings died July 12, 2003. Burial was in the Abraham Lincoln National cemetery in Elwood. Pallbearers were Jason Pickens, Herbert Giddings, Ira Sneed, Chris Mays, David Ashley Jr. and George Courts.

Daniel Kyburz

CULLOM -- Services for Daniel Kyburz, 82, of Cullom, were held July 19 at the Cullom United Methodist Church. Rev. Herb Thompson officiated. Mr. Kyburz died July 16, 2003. Burial was in the Chatsworth cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul Flessner, Gary Hamilton, Roger Read, Mike Haberkorn, Dick Mills and Ronald Deany. Honorary pallbearers were Roy Knapp, Raymond Wallrich and Bill Walker.

Grady Cobstill

DECATUR -- Grady "Ray" Cobstill, 81, of Decatur, and the brother of a Momence resident, died Monday (July 14, 2003) at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the Dawson and Wikoff West Wood Street Funeral Home. Graveside services, with military rites by the Macon County Honor Guard, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Mr. Cobstill was a radio repairman for the Signal Depot and a carpenter for Al-Jet Enterprises. He was born April 25, 1922, in Checotah, Okla., the son of Jesse and Stella Millsap Cobstill. His wife, the former Amelia Louise Badger, whom he married Aug. 31, 1943, died Jan. 20, 1997. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Marcella Cobstill of Argenta, Dave and Carrie Cobstill of Downs; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathy and Robert Baggett of Decatur, Becky and Scot Hardesty of Kennesaw, Ga., Jeanne Cobstill of Decatur; one brother, Garland Cobstill of Momence; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. One sister is deceased. Mr. Cobstill served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Bronze Star for action in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Cherokee Nation. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the VFW and the American Legion.

ONARGA -- Services for Ronald Eugene Schoolman, 66, of rural Onarga, were held July 11 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Gilman. Rev. Gary Fairchild officiated. Mr. Schoolman died July 7, 2003. Burial was in Wenger cemetery, Gilman. Pallbearers were Ted Lavoie, Parr Schoolman, Harry Mogged, Dan Slack, Vic Monk and Rolland Zachgo. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Dubree, Glenn Mogged, Jack Monk, Roscoe Mason, Eugene Miller, Don Reitz and Rick and Delmar Schoolman.
