Phyllis Gruver

Phyllis I. Gruver, 85, of Bourbonnais, died Saturday (July 27, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
Mrs. Gruver was born Jan. 26, 1917 in Momence, the daughter of Roy and Edna Fuller Halhn.
Her husband, Gerald Gruver, whom she married Aug. 29, 1936 in Crown Point, Ind. died Feb. 23, 1999.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Roylene and William LeBeau of Bourbonnais; and two grandchildren, Claudia LeBeau of Naperville, and Jeffrey LeBeau of Bourbonnais.
One grandchild, Angelique Marie LeBeau, is deceased.
Mrs. Gruver lived in Momence 25 years before moving to Kankakee.
She was a former member of the Kankakee Women's Club, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Momence.

Lester Knickerbacker

COLTON, Calif. -- Lester E. Knickerbacker, 75, of Colton, Calif., formerly of Bradley died July 8, 2002.
He was born May 3, 1927 in Bradley, the son of Ross and Dora Knickerbacker.
Surviving are his wife, the former Glenna Hyatt of Colton, Calif.; two sons, Michael Knickerbacker of St. George, Utah, Barry Knickerbacker of Prescott, Ariz.; one daughter, Kathy Jacobs of Redlands, Calif.; five grandchildren; one brother, Harold Knickerbacker of Miami, Fla.; and one sister, Dorothy Knickerbacker of Vancouver, Wash.
One sister, Darlene Beland, is deceased.
Mr. Knickerbacker worked at Domestic Laundry in Kankakee before moving to California in 1962.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He was an active member of the Rialto Breakfast Lions Club, Guide Dogs of the Desert and the Site House which gives glasses to many deserving people in Mexico.

Helene Konecki

WATSEKA -- Visitation for Helene C. Konecki, 84, of Watseka, will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka with a 7:30 p.m. rosary.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Edmunds Catholic Church in Watseka. Rev. Lee Ryan will officiate.
Burial will be in Iroquois Memorial Park in Watseka.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate in Peoria.
Mrs. Konecki died Friday (July 26, 2002) at Magnolia Wood Health Care in Watseka.
She was born March 4, 1918 in Chicago, the daughter of John and Katherine Przyborowski.
Surviving are her husband, Leonard J. Konecki, whom she married June 28, 1941 in Chicago, of Watseka; one daughter, Michelle Konecki of Peoria; one granddaughter, Sarah Konecki of Peoria; a half-brother, Adam Przyborowski of Chicago; and many nieces and nephews.
Her stepmother; and four brothers, are deceased.
Mrs. Konecki was a member of St. Edmunds Catholic Church in Watseka.
She was a cake decorator for a bakery in Chicago.

Raymond Leonard

WATSEKA -- Raymond J. Leonard, 85, of Watseka, died Friday (July 26, 2002) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka, with an 8 p.m. wake service.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edmunds Catholic Church in Watseka. Rev. Lee Ryan will officiate.
Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery in Watseka.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the donor's choice.
Mr. Leonard was born Dec. 15, 1916 in Ashkum, the son of Vital and Anna Wauthier Leonard.
Surviving are his wife, the former Betty Wall, whom he married Aug. 6, 1955 in Watseka; six nieces and nephews, Francis and Janet Rabideau, Jerry and Carolyn Rabideau, and Diane and Merl Thiele, all of Watseka, Sue Wall of Wheeling, Paula Wall Duis of Bethany, and Tom and Linda Wall of Bloomington; and several great-nieces and nephews.
One sister, Elise Rabideau; and one brother, Bruce, are deceased.
Mr. Leonard was a member of St. Edmunds Catholic Church in Watseka and attended school near Watseka.
He was a lifetime farmer in the Watseka area and was an avid bowler.

James Ritter

MARENGO, Ill. -- James A. Ritter, 70, of Marengo, formerly of Pontiac, died Thursday (July 25, 2002) at his home.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Rev. Cheryl Armstrong will officiate.
Memorials may be made to The Fresh Harvest Church of Woodstock, 9911 Lucas Road, Woodstock, Ill. 60098.
Arrangements are by Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home in Pontiac.
Mr. Ritter was born Feb. 3, 1932 in Kankakee, the son of Lyman and Frona Sharp Ritter. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marianne Bensema, whom he married June 30, 1953 in Manteno, of Marengo; three sons and two daughters-in-law, David and Lori Ritter of Carlock, Dennis and Dawn Ritter of Bloomington, Bill Ritter of Alsip; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Rod Bohm of Manego, Vicki and John Onnen of Crystal Lake; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Juanita Ritter of Pasadena, Texas.
Mr. Ritter worked as an educator with the State of Illinois Department of Corrections for many years.
He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force in Germany.
He was a graduate of Manteno High School and Eastern Illinois University.

Constance Robinson

LANTANA, Fla. -- Constance Elizabeth Robinson, 77, of Lantana, Fla., formerly of Manteno, died Friday (July 26, 2002).
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home in Manteno, where services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Larry Moslener will officiate.
Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Manteno.
Memorials may be made to the family's wishes.
Mrs. Robinson was born Dec. 27, 1924 in Evanston, the daughter of Carl and Aina Elizabeth Olsson Johnson.
Her husband, James R. Robinson, whom she married Oct. 13, 1944 in New London, Conn., died Feb. 21, 1986.
Surviving are three daughters and one son-in-law, Linda R. Rawls of Boynton Beach, Fla., Terry and Albert Ebert of Manalapan, Fla., Chris G. Armstrong of Aurora, Ontario; three granddaughters, Christine and Carolyn Armstrong of Aurora, Ontario, and Tracy L. and Kenneth Green of New Port News, Va., who she raised like a daughter; three great-grandchildren, Sarah, Jonathan, and Emily Greene of New Port News, Va.; one brother and sister-in-law, K. Kenneth and Nancy Johnson of Wilmington, Ohio; and two nieces, Kathy Liberman of Lake Forest, and Kary Henry of Evanston.
Her father-in-law, J. Ray Robinson, is deceased.
Mrs. Robinson was a homemaker.

T. Clyde Stimpson

SULLIVAN -- T. Clyde Stimpson, 78, of Sullivan, formerly of Milford, died Friday (July 26, 2002) at Sarah Bush Hospital in Mattoon.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the 10 a.m. service at Illinois Masonic Home Chapel in Sullivan. Rev. Mike Brandenburger will officiate.
Graveside services with military rites will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Maple Grove cemetery in Milford.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Milford, where he was a member, or the Milford Ambulance Service.
Arrangements are by Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan.
Mr. Stimpson was born Feb. 20, 1924 in Milford, the son of Lloyd E. and Hazel V. Breeding Stimpson.
His wife, the former Rebecca Jane Fisher, whom he married April 2, 1950, died July 7, 2001.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie and Lyle Smith of Washington, Sally and Charles Tracy of Bradley; one brother, Wayne Stimpson of Punta Gorda, Fla.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Stimpson was a farmer.
He was a member of the Cissna Park American Legion, the Farm Bureau, a 50-year member and past master of the Aroma Park American Lodge 378 AF & AM, a member of the Shrine and farm manager for the Illinois Masonic Home from 1960-1968.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army.

Raymond Mathis

Services for Raymond Mathis, 73, of Kankakee, were held July 27 at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes. Revs. Howard and Eleanor Ditrick co-officiated.
Mr. Mathis died July 23, 2002.
Burial was in All Saints cemetery, Bourbonnais. Pallbearers were Bill Muehrer, Dave Beckham, Les Saul, Dean Bauer, Charles Mathis and Ron Palmateer. Honorary pallbearers were Ron Madigan, Neal Carter and Don Breitenbucher.

Marie Marcotte

A funeral Mass for Marie P. Marcotte, 85, of Kankakee, was celebrated July 27 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Rev. Richard Pighini officiated.
Mrs. Marcotte died July 23, 2002.
Burial was in Mount Calvary cemetery. Pallbearers were Dave, Todd, Pete, Jerry, Josh, Tom and Jared Marcotte, and Chris Keinmell.

Maxine Ward

Services for Maxine L. Ward, 73, of Bradley, were held July 26 at the Senesac Kankakee Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Taylor officiated.
Mrs. Ward died July 24, 2002.
Burial was in Kankakee Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were James Carman, Steve Magruder, Ron and Justine Payne, Jack Putnam and Leroy Schweigert.

Vera Voigt

BONFIELD -- Visitation for Vera Mae Voigt, 87, of Bonfield, will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Hertz-Thoma Chapel, Kankakee, where services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Steven Friese will officiate.
Burial will be in Bonfield cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Bonfield First United Methodist Church, where she was a member.
Mrs. Voigt died Friday (July 26, 2002) at the home of her daughter.
She was born May 19, 1915 in Bonfield, the daughter of Ben D. and Erma Jolley Kirchner.
Her husband, Leonard C. Voigt, whom she married May 5, 1934 in Manteno, is deceased.
Surviving are one son, Charles E. Voigt of Urbana; one daughter-in-law, Doreen Voigt of Bonfield; two daughters, Normal E. Dettmann of St. Cloud, Minn., Donna M. Voigt of Bonfield; one sister, Cleo Voigt of Grant Park; four grandchildren, Susan Reising, Scott Voigt, Davis Dettmann and Michelle Dettmann; and one great-grandchild, Kristen Voigt.
Mrs. Voigt was a homemaker.
She was a member of W.S.C.S., was an election judge for many years, a charter member of Bonfield H.E.A., a 4-H Leader for 27 years, and a member of the Bonfield Lioness Club.
