William Meginnis
retired police officer

MANTENO -- Visitation for William B. Meginnis, 66, of Manteno, will be from 9-11:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Manteno.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manteno, where he was a member.
He died Sunday (July 14, 2002) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee.
Mr. Meginnis was a retired police officer from the Dolton Police Department after 32 years of service. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
He was born June 8, 1936, in Blue Island, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Meginnis. His parents are deceased.
Surviving are his wife, the former Joann Rossi, whom he married Dec. 1, 1962, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Roseland; one son and daughter-in-law, William J. and Sandy Meginnis of Arizona; two sisters, Dorothy Mech and Audrey Kausel; and two grandchildren, Samantha and Billy.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Edna Craig

Edna V. Craig, 95, of Bradley, died Saturday (July 13, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bradley Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Burial will be in the Aroma Park cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Mrs. Craig worked at Carson-Pirie-Scott in downtown Kankakee, formerly known as the Fair Store, in the men's department, retiring in 1969, after over 30 years of service.
She was born Dec. 5, 1906, in St. Anne, the daughter of Albert and Anna Belle Marino Sirois.
Her husband, Clinton Craig, is deceased.
Surviving are one daughter, Lorraine Loughry of Bradley; one son-in-law, Harris Burling of Bradley; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Velma Burling; one son, Warren Craig; one son-in-law, Leslie Loughry; one grandson, Ronald Yarno; one sister, Myrtle Posing; and four brothers, Leo, Ray, Freddie and Bernard Sirois, are deceased.
She was a member of Central Christian Church in Bourbonnais and a volunteer for AMVETS.
Mrs. Craig raised champion miniature pinchers and loved animals.
She enjoyed traveling, hiking in the mountains in Arizona and the outdoors.

Frank Passini

GARDNER -- Frank P. Passini, 87, of the Gardner-South Wilmington area, died Sunday (July 14, 2002) at the Walnut Grove Nursing Home in Morris.
Visitation and services are tentatively set for Wednesday.
Arrangements are pending at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Braidwood Chapel.

Louis Moreno

MANTENO -- Louis C. Moreno, 84, of the Illinois Veterans Home, Manteno, died Sunday (July 14, 2002).
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Brown Funeral Home, Manteno, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Burial will be in the Illinois Veterans cemetery, Manteno.
Mr. Moreno had been a salesman.
He was born July 11, 1918, the son of Louis and Josephine Moreno Sanchez.
Surviving are two sons, Louis Moreno of Miami Fla., Louis Swanson of San Francisco, Calif.; six daughters and two sons-in-law, Dianna Stovall of Park Forest, Beatrice and Donald Piper of Tinley Park, Cherry Moreno of Havana, Cuba, Rosie Moreno of Chicago, Theresa Moreno of Connecticut, Christina and Tim Cline of Wheatland, Wyo.; one brother, Orlando Moreno of Dallas, Texas; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
One son, Joseph Moreno; and one brother, Raul Moreno, are deceased.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Catholic faith.
He loved playing the violin.

Margie Rettke

Margie M. Rettke, 71, of Bradley, died Saturday (July 13, 2002) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
There will be no visitation or services.
Bradley Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
She was born April 14, 1931, in Kankakee, the daughter of Burt and Edith Miller Love.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, John and Kay Moore of Bradley; her father of Bourbonnais; one sister, Doris Stauffenburg of Manteno; three grandchildren, Amber Moore, Amanda Moore, Aaron Moore; and one great-grandson.
One brother, Charles Love, is deceased.
Her husband, Carl Rettke, died in January 1981.

Mary Thompson

Mary Thompson, 92, of Kankakee, died Sunday (July 14, 2002) at the Kankakee Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Arrangements are pending at Lax Mortuary.

Winston Stephens

Services for Winston Stephens, 83, of Onarga, were held July 13 at the Knapp Funeral Home, Onarga. Revs. Charles Shelquist and John Dolan officiated.
Mr. Stephens died July 10, 2002.
Burial was in the Onarga cemetery. Pallbearers were Louis and Mike Chandler, Glenn, Bob and Mark Berg and Tom Bayston. Honorary pallbearer was Don Schnurr.

Elmer Nally

WATSEKA -- A funeral Mass for Elmer M. Nally, 96, of Watseka, was celebrated July 13 at St. Edmund's Catholic Church, Watseka. Rev. Lee Ryan officiated.
Mr. Nally died July 10, 2002.
Burial was in Park Hill Mausoleum, Bloomington. Pallbearers were Bob Williams, Leon Pfingsten, Jim Wilhelm, Paul, Marty and John Williams. Honorary pallbearer was Tim Pfingsten.

Judith Baker

A funeral Mass for Judith J. Baker, 64, of Bradley, was celebrated July 13 at Maternity BVM Catholic Church, Bourbonnais. Rev. John Peeters officiated.
Mrs. Baker died July 10, 2002.
Burial was in Mt. Calvary cemetery, Kankakee. Pallbearers were Mark and Steven Baker, Jim Smith, Robert Schultz, D.J. Papineau and Julie Cadle.

Phyllis Razzano

WATSEKA -- Phyllis E. Razzano, 67, of Watseka, died today (July 15, 2002) at her residence.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, with an 8 p.m. rosary service at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Edmund's Catholic Church, Watseka, where she was a member. Father John Balluff will officiate.
Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Watseka.
Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice.
Mrs. Razzano formerly had worked for Peoples Coal and Lumber Company in Watseka and Senator Samuel Martin.
She was born May 1, 1935, in Watseka, the daughter of William "Snookey" and Myrtle Waters Grice. Her parents are deceased.
Surviving are her husband, A. William Razzano, whom she married Aug. 6, 1955, in Watseka; two sons, Dana Razzano of Clifton, David Razzano of Dayton, Ohio; three daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Doug Geiger of Watseka, Patti and Duane Luehrsen of Onarga, Nancy and Bret Beer of Lincoln, Neb.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Judith and Dave Cluver and Patricia McGill, all of Watseka; seven grandchildren, Samantha Geiger, Jori Geiger, Maria Razzano, Joseph Razzano, Lindsey Luehrsen, Bryce Beer and Drew Beer; two aunts, Violet Marcott of Watseka, Shirley Reiff of Columbia City, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
One brother, Philip "Flip" Grice; and one granddaughter, Ashley Geiger, are deceased.
She was a member of the Shagbark Golf and Country Club, St. Edmund's CCW, Gamma Beta Sorority and a former member of the Watseka Junior Women's Club.
Mrs. Razzano enjoyed boating, drawing, birds, antiques, baseball and the Chicago White Sox.
She especially enjoyed her children, grandchildren and weekly dinner with her sisters.

Ricky Matuszewski
owned auto repair shop

CHATSWORTH -- Visitation for Ricky Lee Matuszewski Sr., 49, of Chatsworth, will be from 4-9 p.m. today at the Reilly-Redenius Funeral Home, Piper City, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Edward R. Stone will officiate.
Burial will be in Brenton cemetery, Piper City.
Memorials may be made to his family.
Mr. Matuszewski was a mechanic. He had owned and operated Rick's Auto Repair in Kankakee.
He died Friday (July 12, 2002) at his home, after an extended illness.
He was born March 7, 1953, in Kankakee, the son of John and Bonita Girard Matuszewski.
Surviving are his wife, the former Sheila Rae Stokes, whom he married Feb. 5, 1974, in Bourbonnais; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Brenda Matuszewski of Cullom, Jerry and Tammy Matuszewski of Chatsworth; one daughter, Lori Matuszewski of Chatsworth; one daughter-in-law, Amie Matuszewski of Herscher; step-father, Francis Kirchner of Kankakee; six grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, MaryAnne and Danny George of Bourbonnais, Jan and Russ Anderson of Buckingham, Sandy and John Workman of Kankakee; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Mike Matuszewski and Mark and Sandy Matuszewski, all of Kankakee, James Kirchner of Florida; and several aunts, uncles and nieces and nephews.
His father and mother, Bonita Kirchner; and one son, Dennis, are deceased.
He was educated in Kankakee schools.
Mr. Matuszewski was a member of Heartland ABATE and the National Rifle Association.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and boating.

Walter Hinz

MOLINE -- Walter Hinz, 75, of Sun City West, Ariz., formerly of Moline and the father of a Kankakee resident, died Thursday (July 11, 2002).
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Lacaeyse, of Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the DeRoo Funeral Home, 1611 7th St., Moline.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Lutheran Church, Moline.
Burial will be in the National cemetery, Rock Island.
