Helena W. Wilson
Age 85 of Gurnee, IL, passed away Sun. March 21, 2004 at her home. She was born April 1, 1918 in Helena, Alabama, was a longtime resident of West Frankfort, IL and has lived in Lake County since 1948. She was a former hairdresser at a beauty shop in Lake Forest.
Surviving are her daughters Darla Beake of Gurnee; 6 grandchildren, Lynette (Howard) Alshanski of Mound Ridge, KS, Corvan Beake of California, Darren (Jennifer) Beake of Antioch, Amy, Sheryl and Jason (Wendy) Beake, all of Gurnee; 7 great-grandchildren, Jamie, Daniel, Leslie, Alec, Katrina, Arielle and Anij; 1 sister, Margie Wilkinson of Martinez, GA.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt 176) Libertyville. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sat. March 27 at Denning cemetery in West Frankfort.

Elaine V. Zak
Elaine V. Zak, age 70, of Wadsworth, died March 22, 2004 at Victory Lakes Adult Day Care.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and owner of the Dairy Queen in Waukegan for 32 years.
She is survived by two sons, David Zak and Dale (Theresa) Zak; three grandchildren, Michael, Tamera and Skyler; her mother, Lillian Marander; one nephew, Bob Slavik; one niece, Deb Lumberg.
preceded in death by her husband, John A. on December 13, 2003; one brother, Kenneth Slavik; her father, Orville Slavik.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 15000 Wadsworth Rd., Wadsworth, IL. Father Pat Cecil officiating. Burial at Ascension cemetery. Visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Charles L. Dayton
Charles L. Dayton, 55, of Elgin, IL, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. He was born March 26, 1949 in Highland Park, was a former resident of Lake Bluff and has lived in Elgin for the past 30 years. Chuck was a 1967 graduate of Lake Forest High School.
Surviving are his brother, John (Janice) Dayton of Lake Forest; and Janice's mother; Rita Messagie; and brother, Jim Morley, both of Highland Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Eleanor Dayton.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 24 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville. Visitation will be for one hour, prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.

Gerald Haras, 67, of Deerfield, passed away March 21, 2005.
Beloved husband of Frances; loving father of Leslie Eckland and Edmund Haras; adored grandfather of Catherine, Thomas, Samuel and Sarah.

James A. Hotham
James A. Hotham, 84, of St. Louis, Missouri, formerly of Zion, died on Saturday, March 19, 2005, while vacationing with his wife, Dee in Phoenix, Arizona.
Mr. Hotham, a Zion native, was a banker and civic leader. He began his banking career as a clerk at Zion Bank, after graduating from high school in 1938, and was senior vice-president and director at Zion State Bank and Trust Company (now National City) upon retirement in 1983. After enlisting in the Navy in 1941, he was a blimp pilot, during World War II, completed active duty in 1946, and continued in the Naval Reserve, until retiring as a Commander in 1968.
He then became active in the Navy League of the United States, serving as Lake Council president, State of Illinois president, Great Lakes Region president, national vice-president and national director. Other civic roles included co-founder and first president of the Zion Park District, president of the Zion-Winthrop Harbor-Beach Park Chamber of Commerce (awarded Volunteer of the year in 1994), president of the Zion Exchange Club and recipient of the National Exchange Club's Golden Deeds award in 1978, Treasure of the City of Zion, Zion-Benton Township High School Board member and vice-president of Great Lakes Naval Museum, Inc.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, MaryDee (nee Newcomer); one son, Jeff (Sherry); two daughters, Diane (Richard) Mark and Andrea Hotham; grandchildren, Edward (Tracy) Herold, Katherine Herold, Jacqueline Mark and Edward Mark; one sister, Harriet (Joe) Votava; sisters-in-law, Amy (Mrs. John) Hotham and Ruth (Mrs. Steve) Hotham; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Visitation will be Friday, March 25, 2005 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, where the Navy League will honor Jim. Funeral Services with military honors will be Saturday, March 26th, at 10:00 AM at the Congdon Funeral Home, with Pastor Jon Wiziarde of Christ Community Church, officiating and private cremation to follow. For those who would prefer to make a memorial donation in lieu of sending flowers, the following organizations have been suggested: Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Parkinson's Disease Association, Great Lakes Naval Museum, Inc., or the Zion Park District. Kenneth C. Jones
Kenneth C. Jones, age 76, of Lindenhurst, IL, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2005 at Good Shepherd Hospital, Barrington, IL.
He was born in Goshen, Indiana on June 17, 1928, the son of the late Lester and Dessie (nee Pruitt) Jones. On February 3, 1951, he married his wife Theresa. He was retired from the Interstate Baking Company, after many years of service. He enjoyed Golf, fishing and gardening and was an avid bowling enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Theresa; his daughters, Kathleen Bohlman of Antioch, IL, Deborah West of Lindenhurst, and Terrie Jones of Buffalo Grove, IL; his grandchildren, Robert, Stacey, Christopher, Barry, and Samara; and his great-grandchildren, Perry and Gianna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Paul D. Jones.
Funeral Services will begin at 10 AM on Friday, March 25, 2005 at RINGA FUNERAL HOME, 122 S. Rte. 83 (Milwaukee Ave.) Lake Villa, IL 60046, (2 Blks, S. of Rt. 132/Grand Ave.). Interment will be at Ascension cemetery, Libertyville, IL. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, 4-8 PM and Friday, 9 AM, until the time of service.

Joseph Walter Kaar
Joseph Walter Kaar passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2005, after a long and active life. He was married to the former Mary Ellen Brown of Quincy, IL for 64 years.
Mr. Kaar was born on October 28, 1915 to Kate McManis Kaar and Grover Cleveland Kaar in Wallace Idaho. He was a Lake County resident for the last 40 years of his life.
Mr. Kaar was raised in Havana, Cuba and graduated from high school at the Augusta Military Academy in Virginia. He attended the University of Illinois, where he studied engineering. In 1950, he received a BA degree in history from Quincy College.
Mr. Kaar was employed in his early years as a Farm Manager by the United Fruit Company, managing banana plantations in Panama and Costa Rica. This was interrupted by service in the Army, where he served in the Pacific Theatre, during World War II. In 1950, he joined the Gardner Denver Company, where he was employed for 34 years, retiring in 1984. He was recognized as the outstanding salesman several times during his career.
For most of his adult life, he was involved in Boy Scouting, having served as a Scoutmaster, OA Lodge Advisor, Commissioner and in the area of adult training. He was a four bead Wood Badger and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award in 1973 by the Chicago Area Council.
In 1990, Mr. Kaar was presented the Fred MacKenzie Award as the Volunteer of the year by Condell Memorial Hospital. He gave 4761 volunteer hours.
Mr. Kaar was a Royal Arch Mason.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ellen; five children, Joseph (Kathy) Kaar of Magnolia, AR, John (Alison) Kaar of Lebanon, OH, Joan Kaar of Lake Villa, James (Denise) Kaar of Grayslake and Jill (Jerry) Hanson of Lindenhurst; six grandchildren, Kimberly, David, Daniel, Taylor, Andrew and Lillian; three great-grandchildren, Laura, Joey and Hannah; his sister, Frances Archibald of Chula Vista, CA.
Services will be at 4:00 PM, Saturday, March 26th, at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176), Libertyville, with the Rev. J. D. Miller, officiating.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Saturday.

C. Don Klauke
C. Don Klauke, 75 years old of Beach Park, recently Kenosha, WI, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2005 at his home. Born November 25, 1929 in Winnetha the son of the late Walter and Helen (Jackson) Klauke.
He graduated from New Trier High School and then served his country in the Navy, during the Korean War. Don worked at Kooper-Picone Lincoln Mercury in Waukegan and was the General Manager, before it closed. After that he worked at many of the dealerships in Lake County as sales associate. He raced cars and boats early in his life and still enjoyed viewing those sports regularly. His other special interest was collecting die cast car replicas.
Survivors include his four children, Michael of Wheeling, Patrick (Debbie) of Northbrook, Lisa Humo of Highland Park, and Dan (Michelle Robbins) of Kenosha; two brothers, William of Cedar River, MI and Peter (Madell) of Toronto, Canada; and four grandchildren, Stephanie, Matthew, Nathan and Allison.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Scott and two brothers, Gerry and David.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 PM on Thursday, March 24, 2005 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St (Rte 83) Antioch. Services and interment will be private. Please sign our guest book at www.strangfh.com.

Thomas L. Koravos
Thomas L. Koravos, 85, of Andover, MA died Friday, March 18, 2005 at Lawrence General Hospital. He was born in Lowell, MA, September 26, 1919, the son of the late Elias and the late Olympia Koravos. From 1954 to 1994, Mr. Koravos owned and operated Ford's Coffee Shop on Main Street in Andover with his wife and family.
Born in Lowell, September 26, 1919, the son of the late Elias and the late Olympia Koravos, he attended Lowell Schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School A veteran of WWII, Mr. Koravos was a Corporal in the US Marine Corps in the South Pacific. Serving from 1942 to 1945, he was involved in many of the island campaigns including the Bikini Atolls, Guadalcanal and the Philippines.
Besides his wife, Mr. Koravos is survived by a daughter, Olivia (Spiros) Sintros of Andover; a son, Lewe Koravos of Lake Bluff, IL; six grandchildren, Michael Sintros and his wife Kate of Contoocook, NH, Steven Sintros and his wife Pam of Andover, Christopher Sintros of Andover, Jessica Koravos of London, England, Elizabeth O'Donovan and her husband Peter of Venice Beach, CA and Brendan Koravos of Antioch, CA; six great grandchildren, Peter Sintros, Ellie Sintros, Luke Sintros, Alexander O'Donovan, Scarlett O'Donovan and Zachary Koravos; a sister, Mary Koravos of Lowell; two brothers, Christos Koravos and his wife, Jennie of Auburn, NH and Vincent Koravos of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Rose Koravos, Nick Koravos, and Joseph Koravos.
Funeral service was held Tuesday in Lowell, MA. Burial at West Parish cemetery in Andover. Shawn Lisa Mullen
Shawn Lisa Mullen, 42, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Waukegan, passed away March 7, 2005 in Las Vegas. She attended Waukegan High School and moved to Las Vegas in 1993.
Survivors include her son Raymond Ruiz, Mother Joan Lindberg, sister Cheryce (Tony) Damron, brother Gary Mullen and her long time friend, Robert Barker, nephews Grant and Sam Mullen and nieces Courtney Mullen and Amber Damron.
She was preceded in death by her son's father Raymond "Beaver" Ruiz and grandparents George and Pearl Rause.

Robert C. Proctor
Robert C. Proctor, age 53, of Mundelein, IL died Thursday, March 17, 2005. He was born in Berwyn, IL on February 14, 1952.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to camp, fish, and travel. Interests include Indians, wolves, country music and Marytown Seminary.
He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Proctor; father, Carl Proctor; two sisters, Christine (Jay) VanDuzer and Sharon (Ken) Johnson; eight nieces; two nephews; one great nephew; one great-niece, Aunt Lillian Dryborough, many cousins, and fiancee Bambi Scholz.

Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at 3 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 315 McKinley Ave., Lake Villa, IL 60016. Burial will be private.

Herbert C. Pyles, Sr.
Herbert C. Pyles, Sr., a 76-year-old Libertyville resident, passed away early Monday morning, March 21, 2005 at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born in Lebanon, PA on January 17, 1929. Herbert made a career of the U.S. Army, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, Vietnam and was in the army of occupation during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Pyles (nee Grimm); his children, Herbert C. (Deborah) Pyles Jr. of Gurnee, Richard A. (Shawn) Pyles of Sioux City, IA, Dorothy A. (John) Redmond of Ingleside, Donna L. (Tim) McKeever of Spring Grove, Chris (Terri) Pyles of Antioch and Walter G. (Gale) Pyles of Round Lake; his 18 grandchildren; his 15 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Kenneth Pyles, Dick Hammer, Jim Hammer and Jeannette Landis.
His mother, Ruth Hammer, daughter-in-law, Linda Pyles; and great granddaughter, Taylor Pyles preceded him in death.
Friends of the family may visit on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 from 3 to 6 PM at STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake, IL, 60030. Irmgard A. Antolik
Irmgard A. Antolik, age 76, passed away Thursday March 20, 2003 at Libertyville Manor Care in Libertyville, IL. A Wildwood resident for over 35 years she immigrated from Kassel, Germany in 1952. Irmgard was active in different Senior groups, a member of Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church, and an avid Bingo player.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years Joseph Antolik Sr., whom she married December 17, 1952. Her children Anita (Bob) Phillips; Joyce Churchill; and Joseph (Marsha) Antolik Jr. Her grandchildren Carl (Becky) Phillips and Joseph Antolik III. Her great-grandchildren Quinlan and Tylan Phillips. Her brother Karl-Heinz (Helga) Roth. She was preceded in death by her parents Christian and Margarete Roth and her brother Roland Roth.
A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday March 25, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church, 285 E. Washington St., Grayslake, IL 60030. Reverend John Holm will be officiating. Earl W. Barnes of Lake Villa, loving husband of Helen, passed away at home March 20, 2003, two days before his 91st birthday. Earl and Helen were married for 68 years.
Loving father of Betty (Al) Benning, grandfather of Gregory Benning, Leonard Benning and Sheri Ann Schmidt.
