Florence Irene Jordan
Florence Irene Jordan, 96, of Zion, affectionately known as "Fiji", went home to be with her Lord on Monday, August 18, 2003 at Sheridan Health Care Center in Zion.
Fiji was born June 29, 1907 in Redfield, Kansas. Her father brought his family to Zion in 1917 when he became an Elder in the Christian Catholic Church. After graduating from high school, Fiji went to work for the Zion Industries, retiring in 1972.
She leaves to celebrate her life and her passing into glory her sister-in-law, Dorothy Jordan of Prescott, Arizona; two nieces, Jeanne (Charles) Roth of Prescott, Arizona and Genevra Ower of Zion; two great nephews, Douglas (Diane) Ower of Zion and Dwight (Suzanne) Ower of Beach Park; and a great niece, Lynette (Jeff) Yarbrough of Beach Park. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Laura Jordan; brothers, Clarence, Ralph, Wilfred, Harold and Glenn; a sister, Louise (the late Roy) Ower; and a nephew, Donald Ower.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2003 at 10:30 AM at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion with Pastor Jon Wiziarde of Christ Community Church of Zion officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Visitation will be Saturday, August 23, 2003 from 10 AM until time of services at the funeral home. Memorial donations to Christ Community Church have been suggested. 847-746-1234.

Sandra Ann Pierce
Sandra Ann Pierce, 40, of Zion, passed away Sunday August 17, 2003 at Evanston Northwestern Medical Center. She was born January 23, 1963 in Salem County, NJ. She loved to garden and take care of her cats.
Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Terry; a son Terry, Jr. at home; a daughter Samantha, also at home; a step-daughter Melody of Florida; her parents, Walter and Alice Johnson of Lindenhurst; a sister Kathy (Jim) Gilliland of Lindenhurst; and two brothers Walter (Charmaine) Johnson of Gurnee and William "Bill" (Maria) Johnson of Round Lake Beach.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 22, 2003 at MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF WAUKEGAN, 1521 Washington St., with Rev. Gehl Devore officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. For information call (847) 336-0127.

Maxine C. Resnik
Maxine C. Resnik, 82, of Highland Park, IL, passed away Monday, August 18, 2003 at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. She was born April 28, 1921 in Chicago and had lived in Highland Park since 1954. She was a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago and was a school teacher for 34 years, retiring from the Holmes Middle School in Wheeling. She was a past president of the Elms Club in Highland park and was a former volunteer at the Botanic Gardens and Highland Park Hospital.
Surviving are her daughter Pamela Patterson of Chicago and many dear friends, including Richard (Shannon) Davis and their daughters, Taylor and Amanda, all of Mundelein. She was preceded in death by her husband Irving Resnik in 1987.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 120 W. Park Ave. (Rt. 176) Libertyville. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice in her memory.

Herbert D. Siemens
Herbert D. Siemens, 54, of Zion, died on Saturday, August 16, 2003 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in North Chicago.
Herbert was born April 3, 1949 in Los Angeles, California where he grew up. He retired from the Navy in 1997 as a Vietnam War Veteran, Chief Quarter Master, and Persian Gulf War Veteran. He was a member of the Fleet Association and former member of the U.S.S. Missouri Association. He enjoyed being with his family and had a love for antique cars and cats.
Survivors include his wife Zamora; two sons Michael F. Siemens of Waukegan, and William D. Siemens of Zion; one brother Arthur P. (Mercedes) Siemens Jr. of New Mexico; two sisters Marie and Barbara Siemens of California; two nephews Arthur P. III (Elizabeth Ozuna) Siemens, and Scott Siemens; three nieces Ria and Anastasia Siemens, and Christine (Steve) Stewart; and Christine and Steve's children, Chayanne and Skye Stewart. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Arthur and Philena.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 22, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, Beach Park. Interment will follow at Ft. Sheridan cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 21, 2003 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. 847-746-1234.

Juana de la Cruz
Juana de la Cruz, 89, of Tampa, Florida and formerly of Waukegan passed away on Friday, August 13, 2004 at home. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Waukegan.
Juana is survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband and three children.
Funeral Mass will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Immaculate Conception Church (Grand Ave. & West St.). Burial will be at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville. Friends may call at Peterson & Patch Funeral Home, 408 N. Sheridan Rd., Waukegan Friday, August 20, 2004 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. also Saturday, from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home.

Joseph Vito DePerte
Of Beach Park
A funeral Mass for Joseph Vito DePerte, 75 will be celebrated at 11 AM Saturday at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 Wadsworth Road, Beach Park.
Born April 24, 1929 in Waukegan, he passed away Thursday, August 19, 2004, at his home. Burial will be in Ascension cemetery in Libertyville.
In 1978, Mr. DePerte retired from Abbott Laboratories after 37 years of service.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Sylvia; his children, Mike (Donna) DePerte, Pete (Karen) DePerte, Paula (Ric) DePerte-Main, Tony (Carolyn) DePerte, Jackie (Don) Zirkelbach, and Kevin (Cherie) DePerte; his grandchildren, Ann Marie, Mike, Chandele, Eric, Heather, Katie, Vito, Adrienne, Keelin, Darian, Zach, Brenda, Adam, Joshua, Shane, Sherrie, and Jon; great-grandchildren, Anthony, Brenda, and Ninett; and his siblings, Elizabeth (David) Tilley of Maine, Tony (Rose) DePerte of Maine, Angie (John) Lazzaretto, Martha (the late Tony) Pappas of Arkansas and Sarah (the late Jack) Kelly.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice DePerte Merchant; his father, Peter DePerte; his father- and mother-in-law, Ben and Bernadine Unrein; and infant son, Kevin James in 1963.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Friday, August 20 with a prayer service at 7 PM, and from 9 to 10:30 AM Saturday at the MARSH FUNERAL HOME, 1521 Washington St., Waukegan. (847) 336-0127.

Margaret F. Genest
Margaret F. Genest (nee Krueger), age 87, a life-long resident of Highland Park, IL., passed away Saturday, August 14, 2004. Born on May 29, 1917, the daughter of the late Jacob and Emma Krueger.
Surviving are two sons, Robert (Willene) Troy of Highland Park, IL. and Thomas (Sharon) Genest of Highland Park; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Troy of Fort Meyers, FL; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her beloved son, James Edwin Try; and husbands, Foster Edwin Troy and Earl Charles Genest.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11 AM, Saturday, August 28, 2004 at Kelly and Spalding Funeral Home, 1787 Deerfield Rd., Highland Park, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 100 Tri-State International #125, Lincolnshire, IL 60069.

James B. Hladnik, Sr.
James B. Hladnik, Sr., 87, of Waukegan, IL passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at Vista St. Therese Medical Center.
He was born August 16, 1917 in North Chicago and retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. on January 29, 1979 after 22 years of employment.
He was a member of St. Anastasia Church where he had been an usher for 54 years, the Holy Name Society, Senior Bowling at Bertrands, St. Mary's Lodge 79 KSKJ and the AARP. He was also a member of the Shamrock Club at St. Patrick's Church in Wadsworth, the Knights of Columbus Waukegan Council #731.
Mr. Hladnik is survived by three children; James (Denise) Hladnik, Jr. of Lindenhurst, IL, Kathleen (Richard) Brean of Waukegan and Thomas (Elena) Hladnik of Ingleside, IL and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Albina (nee Riedel) on November 6, 1994, three brothers Frank, Larry and John; two sisters Mary and Antoinette as well as his parents, John and Catherine Hladnik.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, August 23, 2004 at St. Anastasia Church, 624 Douglas Avenue with interment to follow at Ascension cemetery in Libertyville. Friends may call at the SALATA-GURNEE FUNERAL HOME, 4190 Old Grand Ave. in Gurnee from 1-5 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday.
Memorials may be made in his memory to St. Anastasia Church.

Maria Jewczyk
Beloved Maria Jewczyk 75, of Antioch, Illinois sadly passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at Columbia St. Mary's Regional Burn Center in Milwaukee, WI. She was born on July 22, 1929 in Poland. She was happily married on February 20, 1954 in Toronto, Canada, to her loving husband of 50 years, Peter Jewczyk, Sr.
She was a very warm, loving, compassionate, and giving woman. She leaves behind her most precious possession, her wonderful grandchildren. God was the center of her life. She was a food demo employee at Piggly Wiggly and Jewel in Antioch, IL.
Surviving her are her beloved husband Peter Jewczyk, Sr. Her six loving children, Peter (Liz) Jewczyk, Jr. of Waupaca, WI, Sophia (Cliff) Mitchell of Antioch, IL, Olga Simon of Twin Lakes, WI, Natalie (Steve) Shepard of Racine, WI, Mary (Ray) Krzywda of Milwaukee, WI, Anna Tania (Bob) Phillips of Appleton, WI and her cherished 11 grandchildren. Her immediate family included one brother Gregory Korenko who preceded her in death and her two sisters Anna Saniuk and Tania (Wally) Skoryno.
Maria's family would like to offer a special thank you to the Columbia St. Mary's Regional Burn Center staff. Especially to Dr. Anthony Linn along with the nurses and staff for their compassionate care during her time at the hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 23, 2004 at 10:00 AM at the New Gracanica Metropolitanate (Grant Ave & Hwy 45) Third Lake, IL. Following the service, burial will be at St. Sava cemetery 32377 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville, IL 60048. There will be a visitation on Sunday, August 22, 2004 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME, 1055 Main Street, Antioch, IL 60002 from 1:00 to 6:00 PM. 847-395-4000.

Richard P. Neubauer
Richard P. Neubauer, 67, of Spring Grove, IL passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 19, 2004 at Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry, IL.
He was born in Chicago, IL on June 28, 1937, the son of the late Phillip and Wilhelmina Neubauer. He was a resident of Spring Grove for the last two years, moving from Lake Villa and had lived in Chicago for many years. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 38 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his daughter, Tricia (Robert) Czeszewski of Spring Groce; his granddaughter, Ashley Neubauer; his sisters, Dorothy (Fred) Hansen of Niles, IL and Lois Kanarowski of Niles, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Richard "Ricky" Neubauer; and his sister, Christine Davis.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Monday, August 23, 2004 at RINGA FUNERAL HOME, 122 S. Rte. 83 (Milwaukee Ave, two blocks south of Rte. 132-Grand Ave.), Lake Villa, IL, 60046. Interment private. Visitation Sunday, 2 to 6 PM. Funeral Info: 847-356-2146.

Donald K. Pietschman
Donald K. Pietschman, 41, of Beach Park, IL, died on Wednesday, August 18, 2004, at his home. He was born on February 6, 1963, in Waukegan, IL, and was a 1981 graduate of Warren Township High School in Gurnee. Donald was a loving father who enjoyed sports. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Donald is survived by a son and daughter, Donald and Miranda Pietschman, both of Beach Park, fiance, Amy Ross of Beach Park, father, Donald Pietschman of Gurnee, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, one niece and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Pietschman, and a sister, Penni Nystrom.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, August 20, 2004, from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, with private cremation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the family.
